If you are out of state, keep looking. Being from California and moving to TX, I knew the Mexican food was going to be different. This place has completely different flavors and sauces. The beans taste like chili, the salsa verde is not salsa verde - infact, it's cheese and Mayo mixed with maybe some type of powder that makes it green - not good at all. The enchiladas are bland, no flavor & the red sauce, I honestly don't even know what it tasted like - but I am noticing the tex mex taste like that. I absolutely love chuys and frequent this location quite a bit. I was feeling a little under the weather and wanted a hot bowl of soup to help. I placed a to go order and received my soup in a plastic Togo container with the soup only about 60% full. I went inside to ask if that was the bowl portion and they told me yes. So I went home and poured my soup into an actual bowl (it also only filled up about 60% of a normal bowl) . To much of my surprise this is all the chicken I had inside my soup. Also that was the only little bit of corn as well. My soup was broth this tiny bit of veg and chicken. 4 tiny avocado chunks, and a scoop of pico thrown in. I wish I would have taken more pictures of my experience but I was already not feeling well. Then this was kinda disappointing paying 12 dollars for broth. This Chuys has gone so down hill. I loved going to this Chuys growing up, but recently it's been absolutely trash. The food has come cold multiple times. A lady near me found a cockroach in her creamy jalapeño! Also on a separate occasion a man found a used fork in his enchilada! Absolutely disgusting! I feel sorry for the servers because all these mishaps effect their tips. The parking is absolutely awful. This Chuys needs to be shut down. It is horrible for the brand! Brought family from out-of-state for some Tex Mex after taking them around downtown. We've been a few times and have this is a great place for appetizers and margaritas, but the food usually falls flat. This was no exception. Actually really liked the change up to their white jalapeño sauce for their chips and their Panchos were better than expected and came fully loaded. However, everyone was a little disappointed with their main courses: the tortilla soup was nothing special, the chimichangas were bready although the boom boom sauce added some kick to offset, and the quesadillas came out as 4 tortillas folded in half (not expected). To top it off, our waitress while attentive, seemed to be rushing. I know it was a later Friday dinner (still plenty of time before closing), but it seemed like she just wanted to get out of there. It was a pleasant dinner. We went on a Monday and the party was just the two of us. We didn't have to wait for a table. We both grabbed the enchiladas. I got beef and my friend grabbed combination beef and chicken. He didn't care for the chicken. The beef had more bell pepper taste to it. Like it belonged in a fajita and not enchilada. It's was still tasty. I grabbed a blackberry margarita. Very nice. I took one to go. That was my favorite part. I stay cold so it was a little chilly to me. I should've brought my jacket. I ordered the chicken fajitas. The food was pretty good but they were skimpy on the amount of tortillas and guacamole they gave me. I was a little disappointed with the taste of my food especially for the price I paid. I've definitely had better fajitas at other restaurants. The jalapeño ranch was so good!! I should begin this review with a disclaimer: Chuy's Round Rock was the first place I ate at when I visited Texas for the first time back in 2014. And so, it made an impression on me. I definitely have a soft spot for Chuy's, like a young, naive and foolish woman who falls in love with the first suitor who ever courted her, telling her how beautiful her eyes are, and how perfectly soft her skin is as he caresses her blushing cheeks. Chuy's swept me off my feet and I've been in love ever since. The best part is, I don't think my husband ever minds it. He likes to watch and he enjoys some of the action too. Sometimes, we invite the whole family to join us. Yes, Chuy's is THAT good. What's not to love, really? The freshly cooked chips and salsa served at infinitum while waiting for the main course; the sweet and refreshing margaritas, sangrias and piña coladas available in many flavors and colors; the many cheesy plates featuring on their menu which includes various vegetarian options for those of us who like our pets alive more than dead; the many spicy sauces drizzled over all of it; and the delicious creamy and decadent flan; are some of the reasons why we keep coming back religiously, begging for more. The unique and colorful decor at Chuy's also deserves a mention, and so do the waiters who are (almost) always amazing and accommodating. I guess that for me, nothing beats devouring Tex-Mex goodness in an eclectic setting, listening to new wave music and admiring some classic cars and Elvis paraphernalia. The three star rating is because of the adjustment you decided to do to the quesadilla. Yes, the item you call and present as a quesadilla for an appetizer is not what tex-mex menus at mexican restaurants in Texas present. Chuy's is, by far, my favorite restaurant. This is "comfort food" for me, having lived during my formative years just miles from Hatch, NM. Chuy's got goodness in every corner of their menu. Except salads. I don't like their salads. But seriously? Who goes to eat a salad at a Tex-Mex restaurant? Enchiladas are fab. Chicken, cheese, boom-boom sauce on top, with a couple of eggs (don't forget the eggs, they're a traditional southwestern thing). Rice, beans. Some chopped tomatoes and lettuce be all you need for a salad (take that for your salad!) too. Their steak burritos are equally delicious. As are their fajitas, and pretty much everything on their menu (except their salad, ignore the salad). And for dessert you simply will not find a better tres-leaches anywhere else in Texas. It's large, delicious and covered with strawberries and fresh creme. It is a must try if you've never tried it before. Though, it also has the incredible problem of completely disappearing despite the fact you only wanted a bite or two before you packed up the rest to take home. I know there are people who absolutely love this place - I am not one of them. I have eaten at several locations in Texas and none of them were outstanding. The food is relatively bland for my taste, the portions are small and the prices are high. My most recent visit was with the family on a Saturday evening. We had been out and didn't want to mess up the kitchen when we got home. Chuy's didn't have a wait and was not very busy. I ordered a taco salad. A head of lettuce is about $1.50, ground beef is about $3.50/lb. I had $7 worth of lettuce, $0.75 worth of meat, a few sprinkles of cheese, a spoon of tomato and guac. $11.44 for a bowl of lettuce. Everyone else ordered the chicken enchiladas. The food is "ok" but not worth the money. The placement of patrons to meet Covid requirements and the staff were subpar as is the limited menu. I understand why many places need a limited menu, but with the in-house seating and takeout options they really have no reason to do this anymore. The tables may be 6 ft apart, but when you put a person in a chair around it you are only a few feet from the other people. We were seated next to the bar and the wait staff area, in the most high traffic spot there is. Staff and patrons bumping into your chairs when walking by. Yes, they have spread the tables out more than usual, but you are still too close. Several staff members were not wearing masks and none had on gloves. The "host" was absolutely rude and there was no reason for it. You are representing something bigger than yourself- paint a smile on your face, fake it or whatever, but the customer comes first. Wow, what a change from one Chuys to another. The Round Rock Chuys was horrible. Waiter said they changed the recipe for their tortillas, which if they did they need to change it back. The beef fajitas were stringy and cold, what happened to sizzling fajitas. Chips came out stale. What my guess is, we can after the lunch hour and just before dinner and we had left over lunch! Decided to give a try for my first time. Went online and it said 5-15 min wait. Checked in was an additional 10 minutes wait, that's fine. Was finally seated by the kitchen which is not a great spot when you have a small/younger child because constant movement in and out. Oh not to mention, when checking in when our table was ready we stood in line after others and some customer just cut us when it was our turn to check in since he was waiting at the bar he felt the need to just let the girl "Hannah?" know and she completely took him first. Went to Chuys this past weekend (5/23) and was really looking forward to their creamy jalapeno salsa, grandpa brew margarita, and their panchos appetizer, but as we quickly found out they currently have a limited menu. We wanted to sit outside so there was a little bit of wait, but inside seating other people we are able to get seated right away and there was a steady flow of people coming to eat. I was a little disappointed with the limited menu because the items i was looking forward to were not on the limited menu but i made it work. The food was delicious and served up hot just the way i like it, so even though the menu was limited you can still expect that Chuys quality. Speaking of quality i have to say i was disappointed with the adult beverages we ordered. We started off with the original Texas Tini and the Top-Shelf Skinny Margarita. The drinks were mediocre at best. The top shelf marg was watered down, tasted to sweet, and the tequila did not shine through like you would expect from cazadores tequila. I would expect that for a TX Tini since i think they are all pre-made anyway but not for a top-shelf marg. I didn't really feel like i got my marg fix so we ordered a couple of frozen house margs. I'm glad we did because those saved the day. What can i say sometimes just sticking with the classic is the best way to go. read more

Chuy's is a must visit for anyone visiting the Austin area for the first time. They serve some really good Tex Mex dishes in Texas sized portions. Their salsa and sauces are also outstanding. However, service is always a hit or miss. Luckily, our server did a great job today. We had the As big as your face Burrito and the Veggie Chile Relleno and Enchilada combo. Both plates were enormous and very flavorful. I'd highly recommend trying their Creamy Jalapeño sauce. There's a reason why Chuy's is always busy, however the service is normally compromised because of this. We went to Chuy's for happy hour, appetizers, and fajitas. I have heard great things about Chuy's, so I had high expectations of what it would be like. FOOD : I ordered the chicken fajitas, and I was thoroughly impressed. I haven't found a place besides roja that has fajitas I really like. The chicken was clearly real and tasted fresh. It wasn't super greasy or overdone. The only thing that I wish were different was that there was waaayyy too many onions. There was hardly any bell peppers and I wasn't too thrilled about that. I loved the authentic Mexican rice though, and the sides it came with. The chicken was the selling point for me, I loved it! Obviously the chips and salsa's were awesome. The salsa is spicy and fresh, and there is many options for sauces to choose from. For happy hour you get chips and dip free, as much as your heart desires. You can get salsa, refried beans, hamburger meat, jalapeño ranch sauce, and queso all for free, as much as you want. Those were amazing!! Obviously the drinks Are supposedly great, but extremely strong, have a DD! SERVICE : The service is the reason I would have given this place four stars. I had grace though, with the waitress. She had a lot of tables to serve and was busy, so I can understand her often neglected responsibilities (I.e water fill ups, silverware, etc). But what really rubbed us all the wrong was was her attitude. Seemingly nice, until she'd get asked something and roll her eyes. Constantly. I think she rolled her eyes at us every time she came to the table.. yikes. ATMOSPHERE : The atmosphere is pleasant, not too loud. There are pictures and trinkets all over the walls and all very colorful. There are about three big rooms for seating. If you get here after 5, good luck finding a table for a while. Sick for three weeks I ordered Chicken Tortilla soup(fajita meat) with extra tortillas. $11.00 was the total and I always leave a $2.00 tip. When picking up the soup I did not think to check the order, thinking it was soup. I had gotten it before. When I returned home I had a little less than 1/2 of a bowl of soup. I called the restaurant and asked for a manager. I can tell you she was female, Time of day was between 5-6:30pm. I told her what I am telling you and she offered a free meal. Although kind, I told her I just wanted a BOWL of soup. She then offered to replace the soup. My response was thank you . She said that she would place the note in take out. I told her I would eat what I have but will come back for the soup at a later day. I also asked if there was a problem with me coming later and was told no. PRESENT DAY I went to Chuys over the weekend. Called and placed an order for the soup and I also stated there should be a note stating no charge for the soup. JUST SOUP 15-20minutes later a female manager approached my car with receipt in hand and told me she talked with all of the management team and no one remembers a conversation with me and they have problems with people ordering food and then attempting to get it for free. read more

The sauce was supposedly the hottest, tasted more like halfway house gravy... a child burst into tears, presumably moments after tasting this sauce.
