The chips and salsa you get when you sit down is one of my favorites. They do have good appetizers. I had chicken tacos I think or fajitas can't remember, but I did not care for the tortilla it came with. It felt a little under done and would leave my hands cover in flour I think or something that had a dusty feeling. My kids had the chicken finger and fries . The fries were really good. Chuy's is a mediocre Tex Mex chain. It's just what 3 stars is- A OK. You won't really remember your meal here one way or another. I ordered the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom enchiladas ($12.99), which were just chicken and cheese enchiladas in a house sauce. The dish came with rice and beans. The enchiladas and rice were all spicy, and the portions were large for the price. The food was mostly spicy but not flavorful. It was fine. Service is below average. You will have to request drink refills and flag someone down to order and get a bill. But the server was polite enough. read more

While the service is good, the prices are fair and the drinks are delicious, the food has changed for the worse (unless you have a tongue made of asbestos! The food, even the jalapeño ranch(which should be mild IMO) will set your mouth on fire! We came here at least twice a week and I would get a burrito and my wife a taco salad with ground beef. They both would be mildly spicy, but tolerable for most people. The last few months, however, it is spicier with each visit. My wife enjoys some spicy food, while I gravitate toward milder fare, but when a simple taco salad has her gulping down sour cream, it's just gotten ridiculous! We were actually trying to go to different restaurants in Springfield Mall but they both had 45 minute or more waits so we kept on moving. I've tried Chuy's in another city before and this was similar. There are usually different sitting areas and we opted for the bar so we could watch a game, and there was no wait for other areas. There are still a few tables with table service there. It is serve yourself for the chips and salsa and of course I asked for the white sauce, which is a creamy jalapeno sauce. It did take a while to come out. My brother and husband shared a fajita for two with chicken and steak. They wish they just got the steak because the chicken was pretty dry. Otherwise the sides of beans, rice, guac and salsa were plentiful. I had the Saturday special with a bacon wrapped pepper with chorizo and a spicy chicken enchilada. It was spicy and good. This is my favorite Mexican place in town. They make tortillas and taco shells from scratch. I love the crispy tacos. They have this creamy jalapeño stuff that is totally amazing. I wish they sold it. My husband always gets the chimichanga... it is fried crispy like he likes it. (He makes sure to tell the waiter. ) The only thing we found that we didn't love was the cheese dip. I actually like the rice and I usually never do at Mexican restaurants. The bathrooms are clean, the service is always good and you get free valet. Also want to mention the nachos. Thin, salty, warm complimentary chips that are an endless gift paired with fresh salsa and my favorite - the queso (not comp'd). Our server was phenomenal and it breaks my heart a little that I never got her name (my bffs paid for my meal and I was hoping to see her name on the receipt since I was too busy with a 3yr old to pay attention the first time as she greeted us). I had the MexiCobb salad which is my ultimate favorite. The Jalapeño cream dressing is not spicy at all but rather a ranch dressing that's been pepped up. I always add cilantro to the top of my salad and it makes just the perfect Tex mex meal. The Mexican martini is similar to a margarita but better because it has olives with it and it not so sweet with triple sec - another fave of mine when dining here. This was my 1st time in Chuy's and I was blown away by a couple of things. First off the seating area where they sat us was by the fresh tortilla lady viewing window and near the kitchen. I was blown away that the tortillas were freshly hand made at this restaurant. Let me tell you they were warm and Delicious. Our food was so fresh and tasted delicious. I ordered the three crunchy tacos and my company ordered the Fietas chicken. They both came with Spanish rice and pinto beans on the side. This place gives you fresh salsa and chips right when you sit down. I also ordered one margarita and it was delicious. Classic Margarita. Orlando waited on my table and his professional service in excellence in customer service will make us want to go back to be serviced by him again. He was so friendly and got our order correct. This place is in a shopping center in Springfield, VA (just south of DC). It's decor is what you'd expect and it is a Mexican place and I am a Mexican food snob. The food was terrific, the portions were generous and the service was excellent. For the price, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants that I have been to in Northern Virginia. Everything is very fresh and the corn and flour tortillas are made on site. I had the beef burrito and it was very good. Chuys is always busy, which is a good sign, and the service to get you a table is pretty good. They don't mind us shortcutting the wait and sitting in the bar and will move tables. Fare is pretty much standard but with some great surprises-- I really enjoy the creamy jalapeno sauce which is IMO better than salsa for chips. First time at Chuy's and in my opinion it's a serviceable version of Tex-Mex if not an outstanding one. We ordered classic Margaritas and wifey gave me hers - it was too sweet for her liking and I have to agree, but hey, I'm not sending back tequila! She ordered a beer instead and that took a good five minutes to make it from the bar to the table. The chips, salsa and their creamy jalapeño dip are pretty tasty. They use very thin chips from a warmer and they give you a generous amount of chips and dips. I ordered their version of the chicken Chimichanga. It looked terrific but the taste was just okay for me. I asked for the deluxe tomatillo sauce but got the creamy jalapeño instead, which was fine. The chimi was super crispy and perfectly cooked but it's a lot of doughy burrito inside and the chicken and cheese inside didn't wow me either. The refried beans were mediocre and there were two jalapeños and some pico de gallo along with some lettuce. The Spanish rice was tasty but not enough to move the tastiness meter for me. This is a recurring theme in this review, but everything during this visit was... average for me. My wife got the nachos with fajita beef and fajita chicken which she enjoyed and that is pretty much the highlight of the trip. I had to go get her a silverware setup from another table... A couple of other guests were seated right after us which clearly affected the quality of the service we received. It's not that it was poor, it was just "meh." I like Chuy's and I really like the jalapeño ranch dip, so I picked up an order of the dip and chips to go a couple of days ago. I stopped by in the early afternoon for pickup. I got home with my dip and chips and immediately noticed that about half of the chips were stale. I also got the 8 oz dip and I usually get the 16 oz dip, and I get a LOT more chips with the 16oz dip. I got a small bag with the 8 oz. I did text Chuy's and got a "sorry". I visited Chuy's last night with a few friends. We come here all the time, so we generally know what to expect when we visit. Sometimes the wait to get a table can be long, but last night we had no wait time at all! It could have been because it was a Thursday or that more restaurants have been opening up in the area. A couple people in our group wanted to watch the game during dinner, so we sat in the bar area which was all open seating. This is the only room where they have TVs. We just missed the happy hour, but a waitress came up pretty quickly to take our orders and give us some waters. We ordered some guacamole to share and I ordered Veggie Enchiladas with the Boom Boom sauce for my meal. The guac came out pretty quickly and was great, it tasted really fresh. The Veggie Enchiladas came out sizzling hot and were pretty good as well. There was a good mix of veggies in them (corn, peppers, onions, and spinach), and the Boom Boom sauce is always a favorite! The beans and rice that came on the side was a little salty, but I still enjoyed my plate overall. The restaurant is pretty casual and they have a lot of cool decorations around. If you've ever eaten at Islands (west coast restaurant chain) I was expecting something like this. Islands has super DELICIOUS tortilla soup, cheesy with chicken and corn YUM. But this soup was lukewarm, Campbell's like broth with bland chicken and vegetables. My friends ordered drinks called grandpa brew and they enjoyed them. I will give a 5/5 for the chips and salsa. What a cool spot. The colorful and rustic eatery is decorated well with an amazing tile floor and Hispanic flair everywhere. Our server "Marcus" was like a human pinball bouncing all over the dining room. That guy hustles for sure. The food at Chuy's was delectable and we will eat there again.
