Went here to fulfill my national margarita day obligation. The menu has a fair number of selections and a long list of sauces to add to your meal. When the food came out it was your normal Tex-Mex meal. Nothing over the top, but nice and hot. The drink menu was about as long as the food menu. They had a long list of margaritas, so it was easy to accomplish my goal. The atmosphere made you feel like you were done south and the music as at a nice level. This place is usually packed, but if you've got good eyes, you may spot a seat at one of the first-come, first-served tables in the bar area... even better because they're right next to the Cadillac trunk complimentary chips/salsa/queso bar! I'm a native Texan and this place was long overdue for DC. So why not five stars? Our server was just not with it, getting confused by simple things like a refill on salsa or a diet coke order with no ice. The big as your face steak fajita burrito was so delicious, though, that I decided to use Yelp to order it on delivery again after our first dine-in experience, and I got sick. I'm not sure it was the Chuy's burrito, but I was sure enough that I threw out my leftovers. So, sorry Chuy's, but this particular location needs to step it up just a bit. I came here for happy hour one day after work and we all loved it! They have this fun "chip & salsa bar" in a trunk of a car in the bar area. It's self serve and they have an endless supply of chips, salsa, queso, taco meat, and beans ( & It's free!). The happy hour prices aren't the greatest, but the free unlimited supply of create your own nachos made up for it. The margaritas are pretty yummy. The place is super cute, lovely atmosphere. I came here with great expectations because of all the hype from family and friends, but sadly left with a bad taste in my mouth ... literally . In fairness to the establishment , the entree I ordered was ok.... just ok . What left a bad taste in my AND my friend's mouth was the fishy not eggy taste of the flan. But what left a really bad impression was how the manager handled our complaint . He said flan SHOULD taste eggy no matter how I made it clear that it smelled and tasted fishy . As this was going on , my friend was in the restroom feeling nauseous because of the fishy taste in her mouth While the manager did comp out the flan , he mentioned that food poisoning symptoms do not happen immediately. Who even mentioned food poisoning ? We said it tasted fishy , not fresh and instead of being defensive , he should have just offered us his sincere apology for fhe bad flan . I decided to stop by Chuys again for happy hour last week, to get my hands on another of their margaritas. This time our server was awesome, I believe her name was Juanita and she always had a smile on her fact and wasn't annoyed by the fact that the person I was with only had a soda during happy hour. And she shared some great news with us; that the full menu was now available in the bar! I told her we had been told differently our first time there; and she said that was just during the first week while they were making sure everything went smoothly. We both had some of the free nacho bar (how can you not when it's free??) and each ordered a cup of the chicken tortilla soup. The soup was awesome. Full of chicken, avocado, corn, tomatoes, and served with a warm tortilla on the side, I would totally order that again. Executive Summary: I'm going to cut Chuy's a little slack with a 4 star rating because I think the food was good and the challenges we experienced, I believe, were largely related to it being a new restaurant (only open 1 week) and the servers and staff needing some additional training. Management did the right thing in making some customer accommodation, and even erred on side of over-comping rather than potentially alienating a new customer. My wife, 4yr old son and I decided to go to the new Chuy's location at the newly reopened Springfield Mall (it will always be Springfield Mall to me). As we arrived a family was walking out commenting that an hour wait was too long for them. The restaurant was SLAMMED and we were told exactly what we'd overheard, that the wait would be about an hour. We were given a pager thing and we went out to walk around the mall for a bit. We returned about 45 minutes later and checked in at the hostess stand to learn that we had missed our page (being outside the 20ft radius of those devices) but they put us at the top of the list and seated us almost immediately. With the restaurant being so new I'm sure they just haven't figured out the wait times... that only comes with experience. We were seated in the Priscilla booth, a private booth adorned with Tex-Mex artwork, including a velvet portrait of Priscilla Presley, on the side of the dining room. It is 1 of two booths in that dining room... the rest are tables. After a couple minutes we were greeted by our waiter and brought a basket of fresh, warm tortilla chips and some salsa fresca. We told him that we had never been to Chuy's before and would need some time with the menu. He left without taking a drink order. When he returned he brought us some of the Creamy Jalepeno sauce for our chips and we asked about the preparation of some of the menu items including things on the children's menu. Specifically we asked if the rice and beans were vegetarian, about the sauces and if the kid's Crispy Beef Taco could be prepared with chicken instead of beef. I also asked about the different sauces available for the entrees which he was less than knowledgeable about. Since he did not know the answer to any of the questions he did the right thing and went off to check with someone. When he returned he advised that the rice and beans were vegetarian. With a couple of additional trips back and forth we finally got the answer about substituting chicken in my son's tacos, which was yes and that they serve Coke products (not shown on the menu). We placed our order: Guacamole Deluxe Chicken Enchilada with Deluxe Tomatillo Sauce Chuy-changa with Green Chile Sauce Kids Crispy Taco with chicken instead of beef Barq's root beer or a Coke, Water & kids water no ice A few minutes later an expediter brought out a bottle of IBC root beer and 1 water. Several minutes later they brought out my Chuy-changa and my wife's enchilada but with the wrong sauce. Unfortunately our waiter could not discern what the type of sauce was on the enchilada by sight and mine looked like it didn't have sauce. Off he went to check with someone. While he was away I figured out that Chuy's puts the sauce UNDER the Chuy-changa and what was there visually blended into the refried beans... I was good to go. But... still the wrong sauce on the enchilada and no kids taco. I offered some of my food to my hungry son and am VERY PLEASED to say that he enjoyed both the rice and beans which he had not tried or eaten before. At this point a manager came over to check on us. He got the orders corrected, gave us a quick history on Chuy's, and I learned about a "Tour of Sauces" so that I could try the different sauces available. Suggestion... ASK FOR THIS WHEN YOU ARRIVE! You may find one you like that you would not have tried (like the Boom Boom sauce or Hatch Green Chile Sauce). We finally got my son's tacos (3 smaller tacos but a good portion) which he really enjoyed. We both tried them and like them a lot, too. He also got an old-fashioned push-up pop (orange sherbert) with his kids meal. (I enjoyed that as much as i did 30 years ago.) I was honestly not expecting much. It was on of Le coworker's birthday so the whole crew went out for some food and drinks; about 15 of us. First off, the service was great! Our server was patient and attentive to all of us. Even as our party got larger and larger over the course of the night, she accommodated all of us and gave us 5 star customer service. This is a Tex-Mex place and I honestly was not very familiar with authentic tex-mex cuisine. However, I ordered the veggie enchiladas and I was pleasantly surprised by the different flavors! The house made blue corn tortillas were hearty and delicious complimented by the rancheros sauce which was covered with. The veggies inside were also fresh with a slight crunch, not mushy at all. For dessert, I got the sopapillas. There were light and simple, nothing extraordinary with a side of honey or caramel. ( I actually wished they had more options on the dessert menu, there were only 3 items) Overall, my experience was Chuy's was great! I was actually going to try Woods BBQ but they don't open until 4 pm so ended up here instead. No tamales. My wife got the large salad which she said was very bitter and I got a ground sirloin and chicken enchilada. Unfortunately the sauce I ordered for the beef enchilada was sweet and I couldn't eat the enchilada. The food was just OK. The waitress and manager were great however which made up for a lot. Maybe actually toward a 3 1/2 stars. I got the flan for dessert but it was too sweet for my taste. I don't think I'll be back. Oh yes, I went into Woods and asked them if their BBQ chicken was skin on bone in and unfortunately it was not. The usual ole boneless and skinless and flavorless. The bone-in skin-on chicken I BBQ myself taste really good and very tender and juicy, better than I have ever found eating out but it takes me too long to make it at home so I don't do it often. read more

This place is amazing. I had been to another Chuy's and was impressed, but this place really takes the tres leches cake! The servers are fun, speak loud enough to hear over a large group, and bring the most delcious bites! If you are into chicken noodle soup, I encourage you to try the chicken tortilla soup. It has a nice "bite" to it and is broth based--very different! Another favorite here is a drink that is half la pina and half strawberry daiquiri topped with a cherry and orange slice. My friend and I came in on a Monday night for a late dinner and sat at the bar. The outside patio was packed but it's a nice addition to have. We started off with the special nachos with ground beef which were so yummy! I loved that everything was actually spread out on each chip instead of normally clumped on top of the chips. Made for even condiments on each chip lol. Plenty of jalapenos for me! I ordered the Monday special, the stuffed avocado. Inside was cheese and chicken. How could you possibly turn that down?! I'm not a huge rice and beans person so I didn't eat any of that. I did try some rice and it was a little soggy in my opinion but not a big deal since I didn't really eat it. My friend got the chicken combo which he said was yummy too. We ended up boxing most of it since the nachos were so filling! Margaritas were yummy. I liked mine on the rocks. They have a prickly pear slushie margarita available which was good too but a tad bit on the sweeter side for me. Overall great experience. The decor was interesting to say the least. We ventured out to Chuys to explore some of the new restaurants in the Springfield mall area. We went on a Friday night around 6pm. I know, I know....we realized when we left that it would probably be super busy. Upon arrival we had a 60 minute wait but were intrigued by the free "all you could eat" nacho bar and happy hour that is available 4-7pm. That should have actually been the reason to leave. The bar area was PACKED. And not the good kind of packed. The kind of packed where at least every 30 seconds someone bumps into you and apologizes. The kind of packed where it takes 5 minutes to order a drink and another 5 to get it. The kind of packed where you have to try to figure out how to hold a margarita and handle a plate of nachos. Needless to say I was ecstatic when our table was ready. However, there was still no light at the end of the tunnel for our dinner adventure. I understand that they just opened, but I don't think they were ready for the Friday night dinner rush. It seemed that our waiter was in charge of the entire room. I never saw another server taking orders. Once we were seated it took another 3 minutes just to order drinks and get water. But at least we were seated. Then at the end of the dinner my fiance had to go back to the bar to close out our drinks there and I had to flag down our waiter to pay so we could leave. So-so Tex Mex food and extremely long dinner experience make it an adventure at Chuy's that I'm not sure we'll try again in the near future. The meats in everything were super fresh and of great quality, but none of them seemed to be seasoned at all. They seem to rely on their sauces to impart all the flavor, which isn't such a bad thing as they do have some quite tasty sauces. I wish I could review their monster-sized margaritas, but alas it was lunchtime and I didn't want to get sloshed too early in the day, lol. The chips & salsa were tasty, nice and spicy too. Very extensive menu if you're looking for Mexican-style food. Sat at the table and immediately had nachos and two different dips provided. The salsa has a small amount of heat, while the ranch/jalapeño dip was a hit. I had the soft tacos (one chicken, one ground sirloin). Plenty of rice, refried beans, and guacamole to fill my plate with the tacos. Perfect size for a lunch plate. I'm also happy with the service provided by the waiter. I always know what to get at this restaurant since it a big chain in the area. Their ranch dressing is addictive. I usually get too filled from the nachos and pico de Gallo. I came here with a friend for a late lunch/HH. Since it was our first time there our server, Mark, did an excellent job introducing us to their different sauces and telling us about the restaurant. There is someone in the back (who you can see) of the restaurant that makes their things fresh. All of the sauces were delicious and you can ask for any of them with your meal. I got the fish tacos and they were so good and filling. I could only finish two and had to take the last one home. I also got the raspberry margarita. Love, love, love this place! Free fresh made tortilla chips and house salsa or jalepeno dip for days! Everything I have tried has been delicious! A go-to favorite is the deluxe chicken quesadillas appetizer which is filling enough to be a meal in itself. The tacos and daily specials are great as well. I'm waiting to try the fajitas or huge taco salad in a fresh tortilla bowl as well. If you love happy hour and margaritas this is your place! Happy hour along with a free nacho bar lasts until 7:00 pm! You can get all the hot cheese, ground beef and salsa you want to top off your nachos. It's good. The lime margarita is delicious. It reminds me of chi chi's or Chevy's. The rice is dry and the beans taste canned but everything tastes fresh. The service is friendly. Chuy's is our normal Mexican food place. With the exception of one experience, we have always enjoyed our meals there with excellent staff that always has time to answer all of the annoying 'what's the best?' Questions. I have to say, seems the staff here truly enjoys the food, as they all the perfect suggestion for what you're craving. Tonight was different because of our waiter, Chris! My family and i love this place that includes my 3 year old. We go here quite often. We have had not so good experiences, but when brought up to the management everything gets fixed. My favorite hing is how fresh the food is. I'm told the only thing in the freezer is ice cream. I finially tried the Texas-Tini and i will say this is now my go to drink. I thnk i have liked every drink ive had at this place but the texas-Tini is amazing. As far as food we always order the queso compuesto and i get the steak burrito, the wifre gets chicken enchalidas with delux tompatito, and the kids get the Chicken strips, fries, and a push pop. During happy hour they have all you can eat nacho bar that is FREE. If you find yourself here and dont care for the Mexican food order a chicken strips. They are to die for. This review should rate somewhere between 2 stars (meh) and 3 stars (A-OK). Food was alright -- no complaints on the quality. Service was not good. I ordered Chiles Rellenos and a side salad. I got a very nice tossed salad and a plate with one chili relleno on it -- nothing else. I asked the waitress if this was a standard menu order and was told, yes, that's how it comes. Curious that I was paying $11 for one chili and nothing else -- no rice, no beans, no pico -- I appealed to the manager. He determined I was given a salad/entree combo. Long story short, he fixed the problem and comp'ed part of the cost. Waitress later apologized for being new. This is the second time we have ordered at Chuy's and had to appeal to a manager. Came here on a Tuesday night around 7:30-8. It was my first time coming here and was shocked by how rude the hostess was. Walked up to the hostess podium, no greeting from her but I proceeded to tell her it was a table for 2 anyways, she acted as if she was zoned out and looked back at me after about 5 seconds and said "huh"? as if she tuned me out. My family's favorite restaurant!! We eat here very often. My husband and I both get chicken fajita burritos with the creamy jalapeño sauce on top. Super amazing!! My four-year-old son also gets a burrito, with beans and cheese. The chips here are perfect, along with the creamy jalapeño sauce for dipping. The tortillas are also phenomenal. With two small children, we often do take out. They have a punch card rewards system for that. I will say, sometimes the service is slow when you dine in. I was lucky enough to try Chuy's at a Yelp Elite event last year, and decided when this one opened up in Springfield to come here with a friend to have it again. Even though it is a chain, I really like the food here. I always get chicken soft tacos when I go to a mexican or tex-mex restaurant and these here are really tasty. The pico is also very good. The chips are those tasty restaurant thin chips and the salsa tastes fresh. The atmosphere is festive without being tacky, and the bar area is always lively and full. The staff and our waitress was also very attentive and good even though it's a brand new restaurant. Overall, it's another great place to eat at the town center! read more
