Furthermore, it is very spacious, clean, well lit and has dozen of locations through out SoCal. Plenty of parking spot. Membership with different tier fees are affordable. New review! Favor to everyone and myself to keep it simple. I became a member October 4, 2022. I've been a member all that time, I actually upgraded my membership. I like the central location to East County and other areas, the diversity, the upper story. The building used to be a movie theater! Came here after a summer job in a warehouse. I wanted the compliments to continue. The goal was just to work out. But I keep coming back for other reasons. Or if my sister nags me to. As all the superb staff know, it gets busy at this location. Bicycle class with Lupe keeps me active Monday, Gentle Yoga with Dalal is amazing. Gotta hand it to Jose for helping out and managing things to help us enjoy the gym better. Appreciate Jess for the friendly customer service. I really hate to name drop. But in general, the staff make you feel like a rockstar. As you age you become the difficult customer you dealt with when you were younger (or not that much). Thanks for the attention, thank you all gym staff, Alex. Also to all gym staff past and present. As I've gained weight and my back tightened I've moved to the bicycles more. That all could change. Yoga/stretching helps. I've tried some new machines and exercises. Gave up some. This is the best gym in San Diego. I've been going here off and on (mostly on) for 10+ years. It's always SPARKLING CLEAN (this is probably the best part). The employees are sweet. They have a wide variety of machines and free weights. Yes, it gets busy on week nights, but what gym doesn't? You'll always find parking-- it might just be a little further than you wanted, but you're going to the gym anyways, a little bit of extra walking won't hurt. No other gym compares, not even the other Chuze locations. This one is truly the best. I lived 5 minutes away from the Mission Valley location for a while and I still made the 15 minute drive to the La Mesa one every workout. I've been going to this gym for 2 years and I'll say this is a BUSY gym, but if you plan your workouts around less busy times this gym is awesome. Staff is always friendly, greeting you when you walk in and saying bye when you walk out. The gyms cleanliness is top tier, I've never been to a cleaner gym. To put it in a nutshell, you pay way more to have way less autonomy. Also, misleading perks/offers. Example 1: the "more" plan. They say "unlimited guest pass". What they don't tell you until you've already committed, is that you can only bring 1 guest, and it has to be the same guest every time. Example 2: "Free trial for 14 days", In reality you only have 5 days. If you cancel 6 days in your 'free trial', you still pay $50-60 annual commitment. If you don't care about these sneaky business practices, you would be very pleased by the lethargic front-desk staff every time you ask something simple, with specific staff that for some reason can't answer basic questions and of no help. Been coming here about 6months now. Really like this gym. The place is fairly big, clean and has lots of weights and machines. The vibe inside is pretty cool. Most people are just doing their thing. Music and TV's are going while you work out. It gets a little crowed some times but, thats to be expected. Membership fees are not bad at all! read more

I've been coming here for 3ish years. I frigging love it! The staff is always greeting me by name. Always a hello and goodbye. They recently switched to wipes instead of the spray and paper towels! Aye yah! But that just means I gotta bring a towel like I should be anyway. They got dumbbells from I think 5lbs all the way to 100lbs. 2 squat racks, 1 deadlift platform and 2 benches. 2 different levels. 1st floor is half cardio, treadmill, stepsister, etc. Other half is weights. Top floor had a row cardio machines facing down stairs. Also I think like a circuit training upstairs. They got a sauna, massage and something else. I forget, I've been paying for the top membership but haven't even set foot over there! Lol one day though. I'm here 7days a week, it's my happy place! See ya tomorrow!!! read more

Always super busy spot! One of the cheaper gyms however. Parking lot is also always full, there is also parking behind the gym. They have fans but its still hot and not well ventilated, no windows or doors open and people without masks on so not a very covid free spot either. Another thing is they only have one private room where they hold classes, so if you arent in the class there is no private space to go to stretch or do your own free weight exercises. read more

I've been going to Chuze La Mesa on and off since they opened. Right now I'm back on. They did a nice remodel a few years ago and it's really nice now. They have saunas, more massage beds, and upgraded their tanning beds. I really like how they have the massage beds now. It's relaxing and not as sterile feeling. The machines are good. They have upgraded a few of the treadmills, which are really nice and smooth. They keep everything clean and are always friendly. I wish they had a few more spin class options, but it's all good. This place does get packed and can feel cramped. Parking is usually alright, but can be a struggle during peak hours. The only thing I would change is for them to fix more of the locks on the lockers near the front desk. Some of the electronic ones don't work. Other than that, this is a very reasonable spot to get get your sweat on. read more

The low ratings on this gym really surprise me. I've been going to this location for about a year and I honestly really enjoy it. Yes like all gyms 4-8pm are peak hours and very busy but the most I've ever had to wait is maybe 5-8 minutes for a machine during that time. I've been going early in the morning around 5:30am and it's almost always empty! I'd say most people here are dedicated to their fitness and very respectful I've never had an issue with anyone here. Also I'd say 90% of people here rerack their weights which i love, i used to hate taking off twelve 45 plates on the leg press at my previous gym. The staff is always extremely helpful and friendly and I've never once seen this gym dirty, it's always clean! The only thing i wish they had was more squat racks 2 racks and a smith machine isn't enough but i understand they have limited space. Also open later on weekends would be great! Overall this gym is awesome and is a great place if you're starting to get into fitness. read more

I started up my membership again in May (2024), after a hiatus during Covid, and I have mixed reviews. Pros: 1) the staff have been friendly and mostly helpful 2) the gym is clean, well ventilated, and generally enough equipment Cons: 1) communication is not a strong suit 2) my issues with the app have not been resolved, and emails have gone unanswered, even after several tries 3) every time I go in, I have to stop and talk with the staff for 10-15 minutes because of the issues with the app not allowing me to scan and go in 4) the staff try to fix the issue every time and have told me every time that they will contact IT to get my issue resolved, and yet it has not been 5) my time is valuable, and I don't have 10-15 minutes every time I try to scan in to work out I sure wish that someone would reply to my emails, and/or truly fix my issue. If someone does contact me, and is able to resolve my issue, then I would be happy to give five stars. read more

La Mesa Chuze is one of the cleanest gyms I've ever been apart of. ALL of the staff is amazing, everyone greets you, and no matter the time of day you always see the staff attending to the gym. I have been coming here for 4 years. Management was rude to my wife and treated her unprofessionally regarding an issue about taking off her fanny pack when she deadlifts. They stated documenting her placing her fanny pack down temporarily when she was readjusting the weights and getting ready to perform other exercises. They confronted her in an unprofessional tone and communication was conveyed poorly. Other members workout in apparel not considered proper gym attire and leave fanny packs and gym equipment from home. Her fanny pack holds my medication and personal items. We were told fanny packs were okay to wear and temporarily put down if it was limiting movement. read more

So far, so good! Joined this gym a week ago and have gone four times. My first impressions are: 1. The staff is very friendly and welcoming 2. The gym is very clean and the staff are periodically cleaning it 3. It is a smaller gym and it does tend to get crowded 4. The hydromassage (included with upgraded membership) has been beneficial after working out and has helped me with my regular back pain 5. I love that the upgraded membership includes free guests so my sister and cousins can join me on occasion All in all, everything has been great so far! I'm not super into working out, but this has been a nice location to pop in for light cardio and weight equipment. read more
