We live in Queen Creek AZ and planned to visit Heritage kitchen in Scottsdale but when we showed up , we were surprised to see that they were closed from July 2-6 for the holiday , which was a bummer , so I looked for a place close by and found a little italian restaurant called Ciao Grazie. Im glad we stumbled across this place...its a a must-visit! We started with the meatball appetizer, and they were a huge hit--tender, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin our meal. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan, and he absolutely loved it. I had the chicken piccata, which was perfectly prepared and full of lemo flavor. I also tried the pizza, and it was outstanding. One of the highlights of our visit was talking with the manager, Stefano. He was incredibly friendly and provided exceptional service. He explained that everything is cooked in their wood-fired ovens, and they even make their fresh mozzarella in-house. You can definitely taste the difference! The drinks were just as impressive. We enjoyed an Italian Mule which paired amazingly well with my Chicken Picatta, a Limoncello Blueberry Mojito, and an Espresso Martini--each one was delicious. To top off an already amazing meal, we shared their caramelized dessert calzone filled with Nutella and banana and topped with ice cream. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic dining experience. From the food and drinks to the outstanding service, everything exceeded our expectations. First visit and these are my observations - limited menu, chicken piccata shouldn't have flour in the sauce, red sauce a bit bland and house wine really bad. That being said, I can't wait to go back. Loved the looks of the restaurant and our server was absolutely the sweetest young lady. We didn't have the pizza but Will on our next visit. While I realize they are going for an Italian theme, would love to have a bit bigger selection of California red wines. read more

So I hate to do this, but I'm always honest on here. 3 stars seems a bit harsh but I need to make another run here. I just wasn't blown away by the food I ate. Arizona has some solid pizza places, but maybe I ordered wrong. Here's what I had. Scamorza - Smoked Mozzarella Cheese and Mushrooms, melted down to a gooey perfection, served with a side of Garlic Flat Bread with a Prosciutto option. I nixed the Prosciutto just cause I went with a friend who is a pescatarian but even though, the main dish just lacked flavor. What made the dish good was the Garlic Flat Bread. Worth a try I'd say. Al Salmone Pizza - Smoked Salmon, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions and Capers. Again, not much flavor here, I've had this pizza before at other places, and it's amazing, but, just didn't hit for me here. (Not Pictured) Insalata Veneziana - Great Salad, I enjoyed this dish the most. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there's other pizzas I'd live, I need to make a run back but. The environment was awesome, the service was great, it had a nice vibe to it so, I'll definitely be back. Been driving past this location for 3 years and couldn't get a good look inside and would go an extra 5 minutes to another pizza spot Grimaldis. Well tonight I messed up a resv at another restaurant so I said let try Ciao Grazie so we did. We tried caesar , meatballs and penne pasta all 5 stars. After that we had a cheese pizza and also a sausage one. Once again 5 star perfect sausage on was a A++++ then finished with the best pistachios cannoli and pizookie finished with another 5 star. Saved the best for last service A+++++ we had a great young lady with a southern accent who gave us 5 star service. We will be back again and soon read more

We've been going here for years. The food has consistently been solid - their meatballs and sauce in particular. I wish they made their own pasta but the sauce is so good it doesn't matter in a few of their dishes. The pizzas are also very delicious. One reviewer recently has a conniption about a 3% fee for using his credit card stating it was charged without warning. It is clearly stated on the initial check. And it's 3% which ended increasing my bill $3. My dentist did the same thing because costs are up and this is one way folks can help them save and give them and chance to save. It isn't worth breaking up for life - let's not be that petty. I never have cash so I'll pay a slightly higher fee to prevent them from raising the price for everything. read more

We came in in the middle of the afternoon and we were the only customers, which was slightly worrisome. However, contrary to our concern, it was great. Before we left, there were multiple couples that were obviously frequenting guests. We ordered a Prickly Pear Margarita (since this isn't something very common in Alabama), the meat sauce bruschetta and the chicken flatbread. But over the past five years, the world has changed. And things, have become pretty competitive in the wood fire pizza business. It feels like they're a zillions Fired Pies and Pieology around these days, willing to take your order and hand you a delicious pizza in 90 seconds. We certainly did feel right at home at Ciao Grazie, with it's intimate, grotto like ambience. But their Margherita pizza was just okay. The star of the night, was their Bolognese Bruschetta (photo), with shaved parmigiano-reggiano cheese (photo) on top. They also have a diverse wine list and a well stocked cellar. Nice! Felt like I won the lottery being the first to experience this explosion of fresh homemade pesto, mozzarella, and marinated for an insane amount of time top-of-the-line medium-rare tenderloin bites that draped as its ta-da topping. Everything about Ciao Grazie wow'd us this past weekend! We had driven by Ciao Grazie so many times , noting how busy it always is and said how we needed to try this place on one of our outings and always forgot about it , as it's 'in' DC Ranch. This week we did not! We called to make a reservation, as we saw that they took reservations... they do not. We showed up right at 6p, because again, it was Saturday and we thought it would be busy. It wasn't and we liked that we were met with a happy hostess who let us pick between a table or a cute booth/table. We loved the decor , which is super Italian with a large brick oven as the centerpoint. There is a cute patio , which we will be back for in the fall. A great bar area that seems fun! There is a happy hour every day from 4-6pm with great apps and drinks. There is also a seasonal menu that looked divine! Tonight we had come for pizza though! We started with the Scamorza, a smoked mozzarella with mushrooms and we could add prosciutto , which , YES, please! It came with a great home made garlicky, bread..Although, I believe that is for everyone! Its served in a small skillet and is round like a small pizza. It's a delight for your mouth! The pizza menu is amazing! The pasta menu is amazing! There are other dishes that scream Italy too.. Our family of three shared a Caesar salad , which like the app. , was so much we could not finish! We ordered two pizzas: The Al Salmone: a perfect Italian rustic crust, cooked to perfection, topped with smoked salmon; mozzerella; carmelized onions that had a bit of balsamic cooked in ; and capers. The second pizza was the Capricciosa: again a perfect crust; tomato sauce; mozzarella; artichoke hearts; olive; salami; ham; mushroom; and parmigiana reggiano. Both pizzas were more than enough for three. Each being a little more than 12" each. We again walked with leftovers. The pizzas wow'd us beyond words! Each different and popping with authentic, fresh flavor. Our wines were on point too! Our server was amazing.. she was one of the best we have had in so long! She never let our water.. or wine ... go empty! She made perfect suggestions and was never without a smile! WE ordered dessert just because , well, it was Saturday and we LOVE Italian everything ! We were already full! The panna cotta here is enough for three to share.. it has a dusting of cocoa that is JUST enough. My daughter ordered the Dolce Della Casa. This dessert was enough for four persons! SHOULD have just stopped because it's Monday as I write this review and it's still being nibbled on with cappuccino at home! NONETHELESS, think of a warm calzone stuffed with Nutella , banana and topped with vanilla and whipped cream! OH to have the metabolism of a 22 year old again!!
