Sorry to say this restaurant has slipped considerably! The pasta tastes like it has been cooked 3 days previously!

They say you can never go back but when it comes to Nick's it proves you can never go back enough! We returned for the second time and found it better than the first. I stayed with the outstanding Chio Pino and I loved it to the last bite, can't go wrong with a good thing but my pals all had a different entree. My wife Sheri ordered a grilled Sea Bass with side of veggies and received a very amply portion of two large fillets. Mr. Dev ordered Halibut grilled and it was equally plate filling. Sharon changed her order to Pasfa Prima Vera and had to take some home because of the portion size and how rich it was. All of our meals had been accompanied by their ever tasty Bread Rolls, so mouthwatering you could fill up on just bread. Our waiter, Jaun, was very attentive even though it was a busy night with lots of guests who were enjoying their very ample wine bar. I can agree that in many cases you can't go back but as far as Nick's in Scottsdale is concerned you just can't go back enough! You might say we're HOOKED on their seafood and homemade pasta. read more

One of my favorite local joints. Chicken Parm with vodka sauce is my go to. Very consistent, fresh and great bartenders.

Nick is the olive tree with big beautiful olives, Christine, Hymie, Ryan and Jack. First time here and it will not be our be last. The food was great. The staff was wonderful and Nick has a great personality. No wonder they have 3 restaurants. We ordered the cioppino, salad, calamari, chocolate gelato and tiramisu. Everything was great, I think the salad was over done with the mozzarella cheese on top but extremely tasty. I would order everything again. TIP: extremely busy on Sunday evenings. We were half way into our meal for the two of us at a 4 person table and were asked to move because they had 4 people that wanted our table. We gladly accommodated. No one showed up at the 4 person table until right before we left. Unacceptable, won't return. Mind you, Nicks does not accept reservations, why were we asked to move? read more

We did a take out order Saturday for a family Christmas before everyone was leaving for the holiday weekend. Got there a little early and were greeted immediately at the front desk/cashier. First look around, they were pretty busy. They were straight away with our order that we were told when we ordered would be an hour and 15. No biggie, we were in no hurry. My wife ordered the Lasagna, I ordered the Chicken Parmesan (I have not had Chicken Parm in way too long!). First off, the portions are large (check my pics). After reading a few other reviews, they do use a LOT of cheese! And for the sauces, they were kind of bland, but okay. The cheese bread that comes with your takeout order was great. Dip those babies in the mild sauce, TASTY! The Lasagna was almost overcooked, the pasta around the edges of the takeout pan was cooked to the aluminum. It could have used more sauce and a lot more meat. But it was okay. Ate off of all the leftovers a few times. Plenty to go around. So I have to say, I have had better Italian in some chain restaurants, and I would try Nick's again if my in-laws want to order from here. But for me there are other Italian restaurants I have not eaten at yet that I have to try as well. read more

ordered lasagna. it was awful. a big mess of noodles, sauce & ground beef. obviously made ahead of time & re heated. No lasagna layers: isnt that what lasagna is, layers. Don't order lasagna from Nick's pinnacle peak. Also the bread was not fresh. I did ask server if lasagna was freshly made. He just smiled. read more

Delicious, excellent service and lively atmosphere! The complimentary bread plate is so good, especially with their olive oil!! Very tasty Caesar salad, really good calamari- hot and crispy! We were not impressed whatsoever. We wanted to have a nice, sit-down Italian dinner and Nick's came highly recommended. The interior is loud and crowded so we decided to sit on the patio. The patio was very loud and smelled strongly of smoke from the employees having a nearby smoke break. Our waiter was terrible. Rude, and inattentive. Some of the other workers such as the woman cleaning the tables were really friendly and helped us out. The drinks were very diluted. The Calamari and Grilled Shrimp were very chewy. For Entrees, we ordered the Chicken Parmesan, Chicken Piccata, and the Shrimp Scampi. They took over an hour to come out and were very mediocre. I would not try again. read more

Chicken parmigiana was good, however 26.00 for chicken parmigiana with a little pasta is outrageous. We split a Ceasar and our bill was 85.00. There are other places where you get soup salad and entree for same price. Service was excellent and ambience nice but sadly we wont be returning. I went for lunch with a friend. The service was great. The food was wonderful, chicken parm and chicken piccata with nick's salad. Did takeout for two more who also loved it. Fresh bread and garlic bread. We were too full for dessert but we'll definitely return. Years ago we had a terrific party for my father's birthday outdoors. The restaurant is quant, and allows you to have a conversation without yelling due to the acoustics. Our server Dennis is second to none. He is one of the best servers in the valley. The hostess was friendly and created us with a smile. The busboy was great always there when we needed him and very polite. The menu has a wide variety of Italian favorites. I had the veal picante it was so tender and had loads of flavor. A full bar is available. There is ample parking. I can't wait to return, which will be very soon. read more

***UPDATE: big management confirmed that the gluten free pasta option is corn // dairy free // egg free. Can add mixed veggies and garlic + oil sauce. I feel obliged to post about a lack of transparency issue when it comes to ingredients: I was shocked to find out that Nick's marinara has cheese, and shocked further to find out that all the pasta and pizza dough contain eggs, so the menu is essentially a mine field for allergy-restricted guests, dairy free, lactose intolerant, egg allergy folks, and vegans. The current compromise is a Grilled Vegetable Salad (get it heated up) minus the feta. This dish contains thin slices of nicely roasted eggplant, carrot, zucchini, garlic, and bell pepper. It's not much, but it's something. I strongly encourage the restaurant's three locations to introduce an allergy-friendly option or - at the very least - offer a comprehensive allergen menu upon request, which is pretty standard these days for something of this brand's size and reach. I have to give a star to the staff: they're so kind, so accommodating. And the wine was good. When the marinara is cheese-free, I'll be back. But I hope there are some alternative dough and pasta options by then, too. No one wants to leave a fine dining experience with a stomach ache not knowing why! read more

Honestly you can get stuffed just by eating their bread and a calzone. So yummy. Ask for butter for the bread. There's like 3 different types of bread they serve you and they are all good. Love the calzone. So cheesy and delicious. It was steaming when it came to the table. Honestly all the food was hot and steamy. Love that. I got the baked ziti with bolognese. It was good and hot. My sister got a pizza with sausage and pepperoni. My brother got the pollo pancetta. It was good but for the money I thought there would be 2 pieces of chicken. There's a bar inside. We are a fan of this Nicks location. They are consistent and have some solid pasta entrees. The chicken piccata is my go to order here: large portions of the chicken and pasta, plus the sauce is excellent. They also provide bread with your meal which has always been good as well. Other items that we usually order include the calamari, spaghetti with marinara sauce, and the chicken Parmesan. This was the cutest and quaint Italian restaurant! I loved the atmosphere and music. The staff was super friendly. I absolutely loved the garlic bread/bread given which is freshly baked! My only complaint was the shrimp risotto tasted and looked WAYYY more like the Spanish dish "Paella" than a traditional risotto. I think if we were to go again I would order the chicken parm or something different. My friends liked their dishes!! read more

Nick's what happened to the service you used to provide??? Me and a few of my friends had a reservation at 1pm to have lunch and the very first thing we were told when we sat down was that we had to eat and be finished by 2pm. We said we know that you stop serving at 2pm but does that really mean we have to be out of here by 2? The answer was yes plus or minus 10 minutes. So we rushed through our meal and conversation and it was so stressful! Not to say how it was incredibly unprofessional to even hint that you're being asked to leave. This has never happened to us before and so I hope that Nick's reads this and makes some changes. We were extremely unhappy and couldn't even enjoy our food or company. Our entire experience was just awful!! And this is an upscale restaurant, not some fast food place. Our bill was over $100 and so we should have been treated with respect. read more

Started w a nice Barolo and then the antipasto, I had the lamb chops and they were actually some of the best lamb chops I've had. The sauce was on the lamb was delicious and I got fettuccine and pink sauce on the side. She had the halibut piccata and we were surprised how good it was. Sautéed spinach was spot on. Christine was our server and she was great. Very helpful with the menu. I am always up for trying new things so I chose the shrimp risotto. I can't say I would order it again but it was fine. It had a lot more in It than traditional mushrooms and asparagus. Hubby ended up with the Chicken Parmesan which he always enjoys. I think this Restaurant should have a five star rating because I've been here like 1000 times and every time I come here the food tastes so great, no better than great amazing. My favorite dish is eggplant Parmesan they always do it so nice and neat I think it taste so good. My brother always gets spaghetti with marinara sauce I think he loves it too. The bread taste so good because Some of the bread has garlic and maybe pepper on it but I always love this swirl bread because it has cheese I think and garlic and maybe pepper. Another enjoyable and delicious meal at Nick's. We had the Anghe Nebbiolo red wine with a basket of the excellent Italian and focaccia breads with olive oil and parmesan to dip for starters. Mains were the veal piccata with bowtie pasta side in pesto sauce and the veal marsala with penne side in marinara sauce. A good happy hour value (great food) with personable bar service (from Leah) are the sole reasons for the three stars. I was on my routine when-in-town HH event w my retired neighbors. We enjoyed Chianti and various menu items of cheese ravioli, mussels, calamari, and a penne dish. Food quality was very good. The bar is nice, and there is a outdoor table seating. Missing elements: Curb appeal. Nothing grabs you from the outside to pull you in. I have driven past Nick's a hundred times and I seriously thought it was a defunct restaurant. Staff engagement 1. Service staff seemed to lack personal focus. We had a variety of staff serve our table. Maybe this is routine, but I want the server to "own" us. Staff engagement 2. Three high school age girls at the host stand busy texting. You are important as being the first customer contact when walking thru the door. Be confident and engage. read more
