Such a cool new place in University City. Michael Del Pietro has done it again! Food presentation is fabulous and yes, delicious. Aesthetically beautifully done. Inside and outside dining. Do yourself a favor and try Cibo.

I came here en route to a different restaurant but since it just opened, I figured I'd give it a shot. I came pretty early and surprisingly, there was a decent amount of people. I walked in and was greeted rather quickly. While there were still a couple tables towards the middle of the restaurant, for whatever reason the host sat me all the way in the back. Literally the last table before you enter the kitchen. I found that rather odd but didn't say anything. I was given water in a plastic cup and then she came back over to take my order. The steak looked good so I went with that, although I did have my eye on the pizettes. After a brief wait, my food was brought out. Everything seemed ok at first but I noticed this man (I'm unsure of his position; could have been the manager), came by and wiped dust from my table onto his hands and kept going. Not a good look. For one, this could have been done prior to me being seated and 2, I'm literally eating! At that point, you should have let the dust be. Truth be told, I hadn't really noticed the debris UNTIL he did what he did. The dish itself was pretty good although the piece of meat I got was fattier than I'd like. It was seasoned pretty well but if I come back, I'll ask for it to be cooked medium rare. I asked for it to be medium but it seemed more medium well. The eggs were pretty good, but the potatoes were meh. When I was ready to check out, she came by with her machine and I swiped my card. I noticed that the tip automatically defaults to 25%! That's a bit outlandish if you ask me, especially considering there wasn't much she did. Overall, it was a decent visit. I'm going to come back when they finish construction as to not have anyone else wipe dust off my table while I'm eating. Additionally, double-check the tip amount BEFORE you confirm!

What a great addition to the neighborhood! We visited Cibo for lunch and it was fantastic. We were seated promptly and ordered a black coffee and a caramel latte. The latte was delicious! For food, we ordered the caprese sandwich, a chicken sandwich, and a cheese pizza slice to share. Everything was wonderful. Their red sauce is delicious. The portions are very generous. The pizza is some of the best pizza we have had in STL; I would rank it in the top 5. Service was friendly and the inside is nicely decorated with big chandeliers and plants. I can't wait for the patio to open.

Came here on a Saturday for a late lunch and thankfully it was not too busy. Unfortunately service was not good... we had to wait a while for someone to greet us and then when we sat, they never came to our table. I had to eventually go up and ask if we could order. The food itself is delicious. We enjoyed our pizzas greatly. The pepperoni New York style one is incredible! Especially for the price, only $7 for a huge slice. The coffee is fine, but i wouldn't say the $7 price tag for an iced latte makes me want to get it again. The place itself is also gorgeous! Their patio area is perfectly shaded. As long as you're willing to endure the mediocre service, I recommend checking them out! Now I just wish they had pizza by the slice for dinner too...

Super cute restaurant, the design and lighting is on point. Small lot for parking. Dined for lunch, will come again for dinner. This visit was shortly after the new restaurant opening; when I visited sodas were in cans, not sure if they have a fountain soda machine behind the scenes; Diet Coke drinkers you are warned. My sister who's an avid coke drinker prefers fountain soda.

Amazing!! Not just because it's a 13 min walk from my house (a huge plus), but it's the necessary spot we needed in UCITY! Perfect location and very convenient to get here, and park (if driving). I love the look of the restaurant in the inside? It's surprisingly larger that it looks from the outside! I was immediately greeted!! Everyone is so nice...super pleasant which makes it so much easier...so much so, I decided to eat in, instead of taking it with me! And then the food...MY GOODNESS! I got the steak and eggs and potatoes! It was so good!! The steak had some kind of pesto drizzle! This food is just plain tasty!!! I also got a Latte...they didn't have almond milk but had oat milk (which is definitely fine with me)! I'm definitely coming back and fear I may be a regular!!

New spot in the neighborhood! Lots of seating. Parking was a bit tough so we parked around the block. The salad was super fresh. Sandwiches are huge. The bread was delicious. Square pizza piece is also huge. Quick service even with everyone being new. Cannot wait to come back and try some more items!

I have been meaning to check Cibo out. I was so curious when they started the renovation for this building and I didn't expect it to be a new restaurant. I love the decorations and the design of Cibo. There are outdoor areas as well perfect for a good weather day. They are currently serving breakfast lunch and dinner. For the lunch menu, i was so torn between the sandwich and the pizza but i settled for 2 different slices of pizza. One is a simple cheese pizza and the other is the Sicilian pizza. They are quite the opposites bc one is thin and the other was so thick and loaded. For the price, I would say the slices are freaking massive. We were all in shock when they brought out the food. I also couldn't get over how beautiful this cheese pizza looked. Now the Sicilian pizza definitely blew my mind. The crust was probably the best that I have ever had. It was thick but soft and airy as pillow. Normally I'm more of New York style pizza but this one conquered me for real. I spent about $15 for this meal and it was so worth it! Highly recommend this place. PS: extra points for the nice service and the big parking lot

Dinner review: When I saw they had just started dinner service on Instagram, had to grab a reservation as I'd been lusting after their food as they ramped up for their opening. Food did not disappoint. We started with camponatta (recommended by our server) which was served with crostini. For dinner we opted for the pepperoni pizza (hot honey on the side as my husband is not a hot honey fan), a half portion of the Pancetta pasta, and the polpetts (meatballs). We had a really hard time picking a favorite dish, everything was high quality, presented beautifully, and delicious. Our server was superb, clearly green (given it was night 2 or 3 of service), but accommodating and attentive. The open, bright, and airy atmosphere was great for a late spring evening. I will definitely be back to try both breakfast and lunch. I honestly think it's better than Sugo's (and Sugo's is really good)!

From the elegant entrance , open, lit with natural sunlight, atmosphere, incredible, friendly service.honor of personal visit by the owner Michael Del Pietro. I can't say enough. Don't be surprised if he shows up at your table just to say hello and see how things are going. That's a real owner .As far as the food is concerned, I had the Italiano sandwich big enough to feed a family alongside with a beautiful old-school Italian beer, Menembrea! Thank you

New place by Michael Del Pietro after they closed Il Palato and I'm already obsessed. The BEST pizza by the slice I've ever had (trips to NY included) and only $6, add a side salad for only $4 and you have a great meal for only $10 (in THIS economy? Yes, really). I got the pepperoni and the spicy pep with the sweet ricotta was a perfect combination. Highly recommend. Ambiance can't be beat too. Bright, airy and they have what looks like a cute new patio in the works. We will be back.

The Best Dining Experience We've Had in St. Louis - Hands Down…read moreMy husband and I wanted to give our dear friends who are leaving St. Louis one last unforgettable meal from their bucket list, so I immediately recommended Peno. I used to be a regular at Rosé with the same talented Chef Pepe, and his food is truly to die for. We walked in on a beautiful day and were lucky to snag a spot in their small parking lot (parking in the area isn't the easiest, but it's worth it). Our server, Harry, made the evening even better right from the start. He had such a warm, calm, professional presence--the kind that's rare these days. We instantly remembered his name thanks to a fun Harry Potter / Harry and the Hendersons reference, and he handled everything with effortless skill. When our friends had parking trouble, Harry quickly offered helpful suggestions. Then, when it was time to order, he elevated our meal in the best way possible. My husband and I got our longtime favorite--the Roberto pizza from Rosé days--and Harry suggested adding sausage and peppers. That small tweak took something we already loved and made it 1000% better. Absolute perfection. Our friend ordered the spaghetti (her all-time favorite comfort meal), and after taking Harry's thoughtful recommendation, she declared it the best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. We finished with the cheesecake. I'm extremely picky about cheesecake, but this one did not disappoint--it was creamy, rich, and flawless. This was one of those legendary meals you remember forever. The kind where you leave thinking you could die happy. Chef Pepe's food, paired with Harry's outstanding service, made it a perfect night. If you're in St. Louis, do yourself a favor and go to Peno. You won't regret it. Thank you, Harry and team--you helped create a truly special send-off for our friends!

They also gave us a list of their favorite menu items. That was the sign that it was time for us to go! We were lucky and found a great parking spot. It was a nice night and a lot of people were in the area. We were greeted warmly by a few people at the hostess stand. Our table was almost ready - literally maybe a two minute wait - and then we were seated. It's not a huge space, but they make the most of it. The place was full! Our server was Josh and he was great! There were a number of people that came to our table throughout our two hours there. Drink delivery, food delivery, Amanda (one of our very favorite servers we met at another restaurant), water pourer, table cleaner, etc - lots of staff taking care of everyone. We dropped utensils a few times and someone on staff was there replacing it before we even picked it up off the floor. We're not THAT clumsy - the tables for two aren't large and it was easy to hit a utensil unknowingly! It's a little loud in there due to the size of the space and the number of people they can seat. It wasn't annoyingly loud, but louder than some places. We ordered our cocktails and then started trying to decide what to order. Josh went over the menu with us, told us about some of the items in more detail, and told us about the specials. He was super knowledgeable about the entire menu. He also had a fun personality. Focaccia and olive oil were brought to our table. It was literally the only thing I didn't like there. I love focaccia, but it was served almost cold. I prefer it warm. And this wasn't room temp - it was very cool. We started with Prosciutto di Parma. Because peaches are in season, it came with fresh sliced peaches and it was delicious! Without the peaches, I think the prosciutto would have been too salty for me, but I'm salt sensitive. I had the Roman Gnocco and it was very good! I brought half of it home. My husband got the Sweet Corn Ravioli. It was a special and it was delicious. It was the perfect summer entree! We had an ice cream sandwich for dessert and wow! It's absolutely not like one you've had before. I was already full, but I made some room! In addition to the food and cocktails being so good, the staff were fabulous! They didn't miss a trick. Someone always noticed everything! And the food they took from me to box up was kept somewhere else until we were ready to go. It was brought with the bill. It was labeled with our table number and what the contents were. Was it a big deal? No. Was it very thoughtful? Yes. We didn't have a box sitting there while we enjoyed dessert and finished our cocktails. My only regret is that we had not been there before. The food and service are both top notch. We will most definitely be back!
