    Dinner and a show!

Great spot for a meal, even better when there's live music. My family alwayssss makes a point to come when the Strangers duo is playing, and they never disappoint. If you haven't seen them, you MUST. For this reason, I usually sit on the patio for the music (it can get a little tight out there with the band set up), but the inside has a classy, elegant vibe with high tops in the bar area for a more casual vibe. The linguine tutto mare and cavatelli alla vodka I tried this time were both delicious, but the seafood risotto is my go-to favorite. Pro tip: split it between two people; they'll divide it for you and even throw on a little extra seafood. Don't skip the espresso martini or cookie skillet for dessert either, both fantastic.

Difficult to find a restaurant near us on a Sunday evening. This worked fantastically! Old world atmosphere and great service. Dishes were presented with a lot of eye appeal. Attentive, polite service. Cocktail menu appealing and interesting wine selections. Can see why this family is iconic in the food industry in STL.

I never go to fancy restaurants, so I would consider this place a strong impression for me. Please consider that a good thing. For starters, the setting of this restaurant is really nice-I liked the dimmed lights, the quiet atmosphere, it's great. It's a busy dining place, but so peaceful. Service was really great. Our server was pretty talkative and welcoming. Restrooms were absolutley POLISHED. Done and dusted. Squeaky clean. Great heavens. I was shocked but-that's a good thing. Food was decent in my opinion. It's only like every other Italian place I've tried, and would I call that a compliment or an insult? It depends what you order. Haha. Please don't laugh at that. I am highlighting the last sentence in big fat huge marker with a giant bloody red arrow that points to a sentence that is again, bloody red that says "light hearted." Anywho, this place was nice but I highly doubt I'll have another oppurtunity where I get to eat here again. It was good when I went here, though!

Bartolino's is always a great choice! I'd never been to this location until this year and I've been three times now. I have used their private space twice for company events, big and small and they do an exceptional job. Truly exceptional. Service is exceptional, management is exceptional, food is exceptional. If you ever need a spot to host a private party or happy hour, you can't go wrong booking your event here they make it so easy and everything is absolutely delicious. They also catered very well to our vegetarians. My favorite appetizers are the caprese salad, artichokes, calamari, and seafood stuffed mushrooms. They also have a fantastic mixed drink menu and guess what - the cocktails are exceptional! ;) Nothing but love for Bartolino's South!

This is a great place if you want a little extra date. It's quiet and intimate. The service is good and the food portion is enormous. I ate this for another meal the next day. The clams were fresh and the pasta sauce was flavorful.

My wife and I went to Bartolino's south last night and enjoyed one of our favorite meals. We both had the sole ferri with white pasta and a Caesar salad. The fish was cooked to perfection. It was flaky and well seasoned. It is a lighter meal . The white pasta was creamy with a nice garlic sauce but not overpowering. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp. Angela our waitress was very attentive and was excellent to work with she definitely took care of our every need. We were seated in the back room which is kind of plain but better lighting compared to the main dining room. I had an Italian beer and my wife had the Bartolino's tea which she said was excellent my beer was also good.

We went to Bartolino's w family celebrating the lives of loved ones and we had a cute little room for the 8 of us and enjoyed laughs, delicious food, and memories together. The staff working were very friendly and helped us w questions we had about different menu items. It was a very lovely experience!! The food was fantastic! We all had appetizers, different pasta dishes, salads, pizza, and a steak, oh plus the wine. The toasted ravioli here were the best we had in St Louis and their flash fried spinach was unbelievably good! The steak was perfectly cooked and one of the best we've had in the States in a long time. Whenever we visit St Louis we will definitely be stopping here again!

Today was the second time I have dined at Bartolino's in south county, and I was not disappointed! We were initially greeted by friendly staff who quickly took us to our tables (indoors). I had forgotten how small of a restaurant Bartolino's is! It really provides for an intimate dining experience. The darker lighting and the decor bring with it an upscale experience for a night out. I appreciated that each table came with a light that, with a simple tap, could change the lighting as needed. We started off with the fried cheese (similar to mozzarella sticks) that were accompanied by marinara sauce. Each order came with 5 fried cheese and they were some of the better mozzarella stick esque dishes we have had in a while. We then ordered two dinner salads that were dressed in a sweet house dressing. The salad was solid, but we would probably skip this on our next visit. Finally, for our entrees, we ordered the chicken parm and chicken risotto. The chicken parm was great with a ton of cheese (provel?) on top. The chicken risotto was the star of the show. Hands down the best risotto I have ever had!! It was so creamy and cheesy- just perfect! It's the risotto that helps solidly Bartolino's as a 5 star restaurant for me. Of note, I do think Bartolino's recently updated their menu. The menu online is a little different in price and selection to what is available online. Overall, this is a great restaurant that, though it is a little pricey ($100 for us), is a fun place to try on a night out in town!

Not a ton of places still have this. I also liked that the olive oil was seasoned which gave it a nice kick. For entrees we ordered two lasagnas, salmon pasta and a frisco burger. All were good but the lasagna was the standout. A little spicy and very filling. The salmon could have used a little extra salt but I loved the grilled flavor. Since it was my birthday they gave me a complimentary mini cannoli. It was so cute and very tasty! If I wasn't so full I would have loved a full sized one. This time, we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night and were sat at a table in the main thoroughfare. The ambiance was poor and it was so loud that we needed to shout to be heard. We ordered the caramelized cauliflower appetizer which was drowning in cream sauce and so smothered in cheese that it no longer looked like a vegetable. It was too rich for us. They were considerate to give us plates to split the scampi style shrimp, which was well cooked. However, the grilled beef tenderloin and potatoes were very lackluster. We'd asked for medium rare and the kitchen must have been rushing as it was still raw in the middle. We tried to get the server's attention, but they were very busy and we gave up. A particularly strange and rude interaction from our server when collecting the check left a bad taste in our mouths. Everything was superb. The cassoulet had a beautiful spice with a velvety texture. The crab tom yum risotto was so decadent. Silky smooth from the coconut with a beautiful herby finish from the mint chili oil to complement the crab. I never thought I'd say this, but the brussel sprouts stole the show! Cooked in some bacon fat they were crunchy, salty, and perfect. Oh, and the prime rib was everything a kid could ever dream of. Fatty and the cacao rub was amazing. The horseradish was spectacular. We ordered a bottle of Amarone and enjoyed it with the whole meal. For starters, we ordered the polenta with Italian sausage between the two of us. We could only exclaim about how creamy the polenta was. It was extremely hearty, with some vegetables and thinly sliced Italian sausage. I'm glad that the Italian sausage was thinly sliced because otherwise it would have been overpowering for my palette. The next dish that my daughter had was technically a Caprese salad, which was tomato and mozzarella. She didn't like the red onion, but had asked for balsamic vinegar on the side, which she added to the salad, and when I tried the balsamic vinegar, even I realized that it is one of the best that I have ever had. My daughter went with the gnocchi, and said that it was among the best that she had ever had. We shared a veal and mushroom risotto between the two of us, and it was perfectly moist, the veal was not overpowering, and it was perfectly cooked. The veal just simply melted in the mouth. My osso buco came on a saffron risotto, and the osso buco was fantastic, tender, and simply delightful. I ate about half and took the other half home. My wife's chicken modiga was also huge. She got two breaded chicken breasts and a pile of pasta. She ate about half of one chicken breast and brought the rest home. The chicken breast that she started eating was great. Nice breading. Nice lemony sauce. The next day we reheated our leftovers. We each got some lasagna, and we split the chicken breasts (I got the whole second one and she got the one she started on the night before). The lasagna tasted as good as the first time. This is what I noticed on the chicken breasts. The whole chicken breast tasted like it had a rubbery side to it. I suspect that particular chicken breast had freezer burn on the one side. The other chicken breast was perfect. I had my wife try my chicken breast and she agreed, kind of rubbery. I don't know if this is a one off thing or if this happens often. As I stated this was my first time there. That is why I am taking one star off for my review. Other than that chicken breast, everything was great! I will eat there again. They use the same sweet sauce for the toasted rav's. It's a huge portion! My friend got a chicken dish which came with bacon, broccoli, peppers, and had toasted bread crumbs. He loved it, however he said it did not have much chicken. We were so full we skipped dessert. Great meal. For two people it was about $100 so pretty reasonable. The interior is nothing fancy, but it has that standard charm of The Hill. The service was excellent, we had Katie. She could have told us she went to WashU and majored in waitressing and we would have believed her. Prompt, professional but slightly personable. Good combo. The food was GREAT. We couldn't decide which was better, the Chicken Picatta or the Chicken Speidini. They were both super high quality poultry mixed with a rich and flavorful sauce, yum. Katie even let us make the side shells "pink", by mixing marinara and Alfredo for us. The only reason I'm subtracting a star is that our salads were a bit wilted -- my Mom kept running into some weird looking greens. Regardless, we'll be back.
