We usually stick to the one on Lindbergh as it is closest to home. We had an impromptu date Friday with No reservations but we were seated right away as they weren't as busy so yeah US!!! A Lemon Drop Martini always hits the spot after a long week!! The Arancini Balls were delish and the sauce I could have licked off the plate but I controlled myself and used bread!! I tried something different and got the Chicken Ferri with a Baked potato. Best Chicken. Lightly breaded, pan seared with Lemon, Garlic and White Wine Sauce. The Hubby got the Scallop Risotto. Highly recommend. And you can't not get dessert (even if you take most of it home for later). Cheesecake with a Strawberry Sauce. Great spot for a meal, even better when there's live music. My family alwayssss makes a point to come when the Strangers duo is playing, and they never disappoint. If you haven't seen them, you MUST. For this reason, I usually sit on the patio for the music (it can get a little tight out there with the band set up), but the inside has a classy, elegant vibe with high tops in the bar area for a more casual vibe. The linguine tutto mare and cavatelli alla vodka I tried this time were both delicious, but the seafood risotto is my go-to favorite. Pro tip: split it between two people; they'll divide it for you and even throw on a little extra seafood. I never go to fancy restaurants, so I would consider this place a strong impression for me. Please consider that a good thing. For starters, the setting of this restaurant is really nice-I liked the dimmed lights, the quiet atmosphere, it's great. It's a busy dining place, but so peaceful. Service was really great. Our server was pretty talkative and welcoming. Restrooms were absolutley POLISHED. Done and dusted. Squeaky clean. Great heavens. I was shocked but-that's a good thing. Food was decent in my opinion. It's only like every other Italian place I've tried, and would I call that a compliment or an insult? It depends what you order. Haha. Please don't laugh at that. I am highlighting the last sentence in big fat huge marker with a giant bloody red arrow that points to a sentence that is again, bloody red that says "light hearted." Barotolino's is a great restaurant. My husband and I eat there once a month and never complain about the food. I recommend a reservation call. They were busy. The bread that they bring to the table is wonderful. I wish I could make bread like they do or figure out where they buy it. We had pasta an it was delicious. We split an order of pasta and both of us had food left over. The service was good but our entree took a while to arrive. Bartolinos ambiance is of an adult restaurant and there were no children when we were there. I look forward to eating there soon. read more

The food was great, we had a pretty big party and our waitress Emily was amazing. She had one other girl to help her and they were tending to our table and others around us. One thing I wish was different is that some workers were just standing around talking blocking doorways, not the most convenient but not the end of the world. Bartolino's is always a great choice! I'd never been to this location until this year and I've been three times now. I have used their private space twice for company events, big and small and they do an exceptional job. Truly exceptional. Service is exceptional, management is exceptional, food is exceptional. If you ever need a spot to host a private party or happy hour, you can't go wrong booking your event here they make it so easy and everything is absolutely delicious. They also catered very well to our vegetarians. My favorite appetizers are the caprese salad, artichokes, calamari, and seafood stuffed mushrooms. My wife and I went to Bartolino's south last night and enjoyed one of our favorite meals. We both had the sole ferri with white pasta and a Caesar salad. The fish was cooked to perfection. It was flaky and well seasoned. It is a lighter meal . The white pasta was creamy with a nice garlic sauce but not overpowering. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp. Angela our waitress was very attentive and was excellent to work with she definitely took care of our every need. We were seated in the back room which is kind of plain but better lighting compared to the main dining room. We went to Bartolino's w family celebrating the lives of loved ones and we had a cute little room for the 8 of us and enjoyed laughs, delicious food, and memories together. We were in a back room with two other parties. There were 9 of us. The food was ok. I asked for no onions in my salad and they ignored it. I ask e for no mushrooms on my steak and there were mushrooms. Today was the second time I have dined at Bartolino's in south county, and I was not disappointed! We were initially greeted by friendly staff who quickly took us to our tables (indoors). I had forgotten how small of a restaurant Bartolino's is! It really provides for an intimate dining experience. The darker lighting and the decor bring with it an upscale experience for a night out. I appreciated that each table came with a light that, with a simple tap, could change the lighting as needed. We started off with the fried cheese (similar to mozzarella sticks) that were accompanied by marinara sauce. Each order came with 5 fried cheese and they were some of the better mozzarella stick esque dishes we have had in a while. We then ordered two dinner salads that were dressed in a sweet house dressing. The salad was solid, but we would probably skip this on our next visit. Finally, for our entrees, we ordered the chicken parm and chicken risotto. The chicken parm was great with a ton of cheese (provel?) on top. The chicken risotto was the star of the show. Hands down the best risotto I have ever had!! It was so creamy and cheesy- just perfect! It's the risotto that helps solidly Bartolino's as a 5 star restaurant for me. Of note, I do think Bartolino's recently updated their menu. The menu online is a little different in price and selection to what is available online. I was there for a birthday, party of 4. The restaurant is "old world elegance". The prices are not cheap, but the quality is definitely worth it. Our waiter was good, but our buss boy was great, a veteran. Their selection of bourbons is extensive. Servings are huge, so be prepared to share or take a doggy bag home. They were out of escargot, which was really a bummer for me, but plenty of other good appetizers. The tables are placed closely together , so maneuvering with a walker (one of our party had one) could be difficult, but when I made the reservation I told the person we had a walker with us and she placed us strategically near everything. One person in our partly had strict sodium restrictions, and they were able to accommodate that without any issue. I will definitely be going back! read more

Good Experience Parking is a little crazy if you go on a weekend during busy hours. The place was nice inside, but a little on the darker side which I like. Our food was very good. Bartolino's has been on my "must try Italian" list for a very long time, and last weekend I was able to cross them off the list. First the good... Service was excellent! I can't stress this enough. Our server as well as the "helper server" (the person refilling drinks and getting bread out) were both fantastic! I appreciate their attention to detail and want to let others know that the service I had on this night was stellar. The bread was standard Italian thin sliced loaf, most likely something from Vitale's or Fazio's. It was of course good, but nothing separating it from all the other Italian restaurants in St. Louis. The appetizer we ordered was the fried cheese, coming in at just under $3 per stick. These were large sticks fried perfectly and topped with parmesan, parsley, and a lemon twist. The marinara accompanying these was excellent, but a but chunky for my preference, also not nearly enough for all 5 sticks IMO. The cheese was super gooey (I presume these were provolone) and honestly worth the price, only tweak would be a bit more marinara. Next up was the side dish of white pasta. This is definitely a step UP from other Italian places where the side of pasta is an afterthought. The sauce was prevalent, cheesy, bright white, and delicious! The pasta (penne) was very very slightly undercooked, but it didn't subtract from the from the overall experience. (and I'm not referring to aldente, it needed like another minute on boil. Just clarifying for those who care) Finally, the Steak entrée. So if you have been following any of my other reviews, you'll know that I'm on a bit of a quest to find the best "Steak Modiga" in St. Louis. But this is also where I may have made a mistake. The Steak Modiga Bartolino's offers is a 6 oz tenderloin, breaded, charbroiled and topped with mushrooms and a white wine sauce. Now while the tenderloin is of course a fabulous cut of meat, 6 oz just wasn't going to cut it for my level of hunger this night, so I kindly asked the server if I could get the strip steak dressed up as a modiga, only if it wasn't too much trouble. The server said he would check and I told him to just surprise me. About 15 minutes later he was pleased to present to me a fabulous looking Strip Steak Modiga. It was cooked perfectly (medium), but upon cutting into it, there was 1 thing that made me regret this decision. This specific steak was a bit more fatty that I would have expected. It was even tough to cut through in some areas. Additionally the sauce was much thinner than other places I've had and there were 2 large pieces of what looked like large shell pasta in with the sauce and mushrooms. Not the biggest deal in the world, but just makes me wonder how they got there if you know what I mean? Outside of that, the sauce was just kind of bland. Overall score for the Modiga 6.5/10 here at Bartolino's. My 5 stars reflects the fact that my own modification, that they accommodated, contributed to a less than perfect experience with the meal. Bottom line: I DO plan on giving this location, as well as the one on the hill another try both to get the Steak Modiga as it was intended by the Bartolino's family, as well as try out some other menu items. I look forward to those future experiences and will update the review on this location and well as the others when I do. read more

I can't say enough to praise the manager and staff at this restaurant. My son, who lives in Texas, insisted that he wanted his favorite Italian food from Bartolino's for his Christmas present. I felt totally overwhelmed with this problem. I talked to the manager about my problem, and he had his staff cut , wrap, and freeze a large pizza, bag and freeze 3 orders of toasted ravioli, and bag and freeze an order of tortellini, and freeze 2 plastic cartons of tortellini cream sauce and a carton of meat sauce for the ravioli. It was frozen and in a large bag when I picked it up. I was able to transport the order to Texas in a carryon suitcase with the food packed with ice wrapped in a towel, in a large kitchen trash bag. I could not have done this with the help of the Bartolino's staff. I love their food too. read more
