This place is so tasty! We really love the chicken here! Flavorful, crispy skin and juicy chicken. The garlic sauce reminds me of Zankou. We got the chicken plate; You get a quarter chicken with two sides. Thé rice pilaf portion is generous and gods very well with the chicken. The salad is basic Romain lettuce with two slices of tomatoes and the hummus is slightly grainy. Service is quick and I believe the restaurant is locally owned. read more

Walked in and it smelled like someone's immigrant grandma still runs the kitchen. That's a compliment. The rotisserie chicken? Rotated to perfection. Skin had that golden crisp like it whispered to the flame all day. Juicy inside... seasoned like somebody finally said f*ck the salt shaker and just blessed it by hand. Rice was soft, fragrant, not a throwaway side. Pickled turnips slapped harder than expected. Hummus had a smooth, nutty finish. Nothing store-bought here. Pita was warm, slightly charred, the kind that's trying to give you a reason not to use utensils. The space? Basic. No mood lighting or curated playlist. Just tiled floors, a fridge of bottled sodas, and a dude at the counter who's seen some things. But service was quick. No fuss. No fake smiles. Just straight-up, "what you want?" energy. Love that. Bathroom was clean. Not spa-level, but you could definitely wash your hands and not feel like you needed gloves. Parking was easy. Heard from a fellow yelper that Cicek's Chicken was just as good as Zankou, so I had to try this place out. I ordered a 1/2 chicken Lunch Special with green salad and hummus (you get to pick two sides) and with tip, comes out to around $20. Chicken was tender, juicy and had that crunchy flavorful skin (just like Zankou). The green salad was just chopped romaine lettuce with a choice of Italian or Ranch dressing (kinda disappointing-see my pic). My lunch special came with 2 pita breads. Very casual, simple and basic restaurant interior. Service from Vartan at the cashier was straightforward and direct. Lots of free parking. read more

Parking can be a little challenge depending on the time. They have reserved spaces on the Mason side. Outdoor looks very unassuming. In fact you may never even know they're there. I dined in. Ample seating space accommodates small groups. Ordered the 1/2 Chicken with a side of fries and hummus. They don't sell fountain drinks which is a bummer but I got a tall Mexican Coke in a bottle. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a golden brown crisp. Quite honestly ranks high on my list of favorite roasted chicken. The fries are large thick Cut. Do yourself a favor wrap some of the chicken into the pita bread they give you, dip it generously into the hummus. Absolutely incredible flavors. I'm so glad I gave them a try. I'll absolutely be back. Highly recommend if you're looking for that bomb ass roasted chicken fix! Just Phenomenal! read more

Move aside Zankou! Cicek's is in the house! This spot is SO unassuming. There is zero ambiance, but it doesn't even matter because the food is THAT good. I was craving Mediterranean food and Cicek's popped up on Yelp. I wanted to order a kabob plate and they said it would take 15 mins. I was in a bit of a rush, so I opted for 1/2 a rotisserie chicken instead. When I tell you this was the BEST rotisserie chicken I have ever had...holy smokes! It was completely juicy and tender. The skin was perfectly crispy, but not too much. The garlic sauce was super flavorful and paired with the chicken so well. The plate same with your choice of sides and I went with rice pilaf and hummus. The pilaf was delicious and I thought the hummus was just OK. Loved the pickled veggies! It was a lot of food and I was a satisfied customer. I got it to go and the food traveled well! Customer service was excellent. Loads of parking available. Don't know how much of a Hidden Gem this is it has changed ownership more than you change underwear however is undisputably the best place for moist tender juicy chicken rotisserie style. For those that compared to Zankou I really feel sorry for them. Zankou is overhyped mass-scaled dry and tasteless chicken and smeared with a ton of garlic sauce just to have some flavor. Whereas when you eat here the chicken inside is actually moist and juicy as well. Skip the Matrix chicken and enjoy the out of Matrix one, your welcome. As a bonus they have some Turkish style Gyro.... not even close to the real things like 99% of the city but it will get your fix if you settle for a higher, luxury version of Gyro. read more

We are obsessed with this spot! Every single item on the menu is so delicious, and everything tastes fresh and homemade. Our favorites are the filet beef, rotisserie chicken, and felafel. All the sides are so good but my favorite is the coleslaw - it goes perfectly with everything. We have Cicek's at least once a week if not more and I always can't wait for the next time. read more

This place reminds me a lot of Zankou chicken. If you live in LA, then you will know exactly what I am talking about. Came here because of the rave reviews and decided to get some chicken for dinner. Not knowing that they have a dinner special after 3pm where you get 3 half chicken with 2 sides for about $42 with tax. This is big enough to feed a family of 4-5. I think I waited about 5 minutes for them to prepare the food. The chicken was moist and even the breast meat wasn't dry. It was seasoned well and a pretty good size. I decided to get the rice pilaf and hummus. I really like the rice as it had butter and a good flavor. The butter didn't overpower the chicken. I really liked the hummus. It wasn't overly lemony and smooth. If I had a complaint, I would say that the pita bread was not fresh. It was definitely from another vendor. There was about 6 pieces in the bag. I think it would have been better with lavash or something not as thick/dense. But overall, I will definitely be back and maybe try something else. Oh, don't forget the garlic sauce. I'd like their food and the staff was nice. One thing they changed on the menu since changing ownership, as I remember it, they now serve white rice. That seems more like something you would serve with Chinese food. Mediterranean should have Rice pilaf or something. The chicken was delicious. The salad was crisp and fresh. Ciceks has become one of our new family faves. The food is solid, service is friendly, and prices are fair. We visit a couple times a month for a quick well rounded meal. Normally we get the Value meal which is a full chicken, 2 sides (rice and beans unless you ask for something else), a basic salad, and 2 sauces. The chicken is usually flavorful and moist. The beans have a good flavor though they're a bit more firm than we like them. The steak fries are always crisp, well seasoned and plentiful. The hummus and garlic sauce are good. The pita is pretty basic and dry but it's ok, it still works alongside the rest of the meal. Parking is easy. I usually park on the side next to Mason street. read more

Strange I thought I've written a review here already but I guess I didn't. Love love love!! Their chicken kabob plate was delicious. The chicken was just so good. I seriously can't find the right words to describe it. After an intense work out, food was on my mind. I was told by locals to try Cicek's chicken who have been going there for yearssss. Seriously no clue they existed. Did not disappoint. Ambience is lacking but who cares if the food is good! Also, when was the last time someone sat and ate at a chicken place? It has always been a take out order for me and my family. Plenty of parking. I always have leftovers for the next day. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and friendly. "I don't care what the government says, 30% of the people commit fraud so what's the problem?" Please make 0 an option. They are doing a credit card/debit card surcharge of 3.99%, not even displayed until i questioned the higher price charged on my receipt. This was completely illegal prior to 4/15/23 and as of that date, max surcharge is 3% now. When confronted, I was told I was threatening them for making known to another customer paying at the moment. The son and father teamed up with full disrespect, mouthiness, and acting as threatened victims for questioning their illegal transactions. Owner states they've been doing this for over a year which means over a year illegally. Then proceeded by telling me, "I don't care what the government says, 30% of the people are commit fraud so what's the problem?" In the 30mins there, they made over $50 on surcharge fees based on the other customers receipts. Imagine the level of fraudulent fees they are making every month! read more

Parking: decent parking lot Got the family meal, comes with 2 chickens, rice, salad, and pita bread. The owner is very friendly, the chicken was very tender and delicious, I like Costco chicken but this was way more flavorful, tender and juicy. Wow. I'm extremely impressed. My coworker recommended this place in the area for some authentic Mediterranean food and she was not lying. This is one of the best filet mignon plates I have EVER had. For less than $20, I had a fresh plate of 8 generous sizes of juicy, tender, medium-well filet mignon pieces, a skewer of grilled tomato, pepper and onion into bite-sized pieces, all atop a bed of buttery, fluffy rice. I also asked for a side of fresh salad which also came with pickled vegetables and a generous helping of pita bread freshly wrapped. Fantastic presentation. I'll undoubtedly make a trip back. Solid 3.5 stars for me. Came in and ordered the shawarma plate with green salad and a side of hummus. The shawarma was pretty good seasoned well and tender thin slices which I like. The green salad along with the dressing was good. The hummus however was by far my least favorite. It was bland and missing seasoning, lemon juice. Service was quick but the menu is a bit on the pricier side, my plate came out to 20 bucks for only 3 items. I would probably come back If I am near the area. This place is underestimated. Their chicken is rotisserie and beats the heck out of "crazy chicken" ! Super delicious and their price point is great for dinner - we ordered the dinner special: Three 1/2 chickens w/ 2 sides for $33.99- I don't think you can beat that with price point and quality with today's economy! Family owned and operated location, so already I'm a fan. I got the shawarma plate with a side of falafel from here. The shawarma plate impressed me since it was not dried up meat. Most often with these types of meats that cook all day, you may end up with fairly overcooked meat if the turnaround is not high. It sure looks like they serve plenty of their dishes, cause my meat was perfectly cooked and not over cooked at all. Prices are great for what you get. I'll be back for lunch again. read more

Cicek's Chicken is known for their traditional handmade Döner (aka Shawarma) and incredibly flavorful roasted chicken and garlic sauce. You will not be disappointed by the homemade Baklava made with pure love. The Cacik (pronounced Jajick) is a cucumber yogurt dipping sauce and you have to try Alex's (Sako's grandson) chicken sandwich made with fresh tomatoes, onions and just the right amount of tahini and garlic sauce. The homemade pickled turnips are just the right accompaniment to any dish and certainly a must have with either the Lulu Kabob (ground beef) or the wonderfully flavorful lamb chops.

History

Established in 2013.

Cicek's Chicken was founded by Serkiz "Sako" Cicek an Armenian born in Turkey. Opening his first grocery/restaurant in Burladingen, Germany in 1982, Sako gained incredible experience and much success. He moved his family to America in 1992 and was the proud owner of many successful restaurants specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. In 2007 Sako bought into the "Sevan Chicken" franchise and quickly exceeded his own goals, so much so that on July 4, 2013 he purchased the rights to this location and renamed the restaurant after his family name "Cicek's Chicken". Cicek's Chicken is owned and operated by Sako and his daughter Arlet.

The Zaatar pie delighted. I tried the Lebanese red wine (I mean, when in a Lebanese restaurant, why not?) And it stood up to any red I'd had anywhere else. The Tabouleh (one of my Mediterranean standards) was fresh made, filling, and a nice companion to the heavier Zaatar pie. It was awfully nice, and unexpected, to get complimentary baklava at the end of the meal...2 generous sized pieces which were pretty indulgent and eliminated the need to get (and pay for) dessert there or anywhere else. Service was lovely...the manager or owner took care of us and made us feel he was truly grateful that we were there. It's also a hookah spot...so if you're not into that vibe or smoke of any kind, (I'm not really) you'll definitely smell that anywhere you are in the restaurant, even if you're not seated next to those using hookahs. If you've got a hankering for Mediterranean...especially a place that has some unique things not at other Mediterranean spots, definitely give Pi on Sunset a shot.

The fries were even worse, they tasted stale, like they were at least a day or two old, and had that chewy, reheated texture instead of being crispy. Definitely not something anyone would want to eat.

For this visit, we tried an eggplant style zaatar "pizza", the chicken shawarma wrap, a falafel wrap, and baklava. The pizza was a delicately thin but fluffy treat with small crispy chunks of eggplant and a thin layer of juicy meat hugging the pita-like bread. The zaatar seasoning was a nice balance of nutty and zesty stop the savory goodness. For the wraps, the star was very clearly the chicken shawarma wrap. With fluffy pita wrap that was just the right thickness filled to the brim eith incredibly tender chicken, pickles, and a lovely soft fried potato that gave additional body and texture to the wrap. And the garlic sauce smeared within is fantastic, with a nice creamy consistency. This was perfection. Even the baklava and a really rich but pleasant sweetness to it with plenty of pistachio embedded between the layers of phyllo. This is nearly a two hour drive for us, but I would try to find another reason to make the drive. Zaatar N More is really exceptional and worth a try!
