Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, and the restaurant was very clean and welcoming. I highly recommend trying the Shish Kabob and the Beef Barg -- both were delicious and full of flavor. The portions were satisfying, and the quality of the food really stood out. The customer service was also great. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel comfortable throughout our meal. And definitely don't leave without having dessert and a cup of tea at the end -- it's the perfect way to finish the meal. This is a tremendous establishment serving super flavorful, mouthwatering gourmet Persian food! I'm talking about A1, top-notch meat. Their chelo kabob koobideh (beef), in particular, literally melts in your mouth with every bite. Their rice dishes were out of this world as well, especially the baghali polo--an incredibly flavorful, herb-filled rice dish that will leave you craving more! I really enjoyed our early dinner time there. The young lady that was helping us was very attentive. She would check up on us multiple times. She asked if we had any questions regarding the menu. Then asked if we were ready to order. The place was empty when we showed up, but throughout our time there, there were several to go orders. The dining area was well lit, it was empty, but good experience. The reason for the 4-star is that it was a bit warm inside. I feel it should have been a bit cooler knowing that the outside weather was over 100 degrees. The food was delicious. The dining area was very clean. We've had Ali Baba Persian delivered 3 times in the past 2 months. The food is always delivered on time and packaged well. We have only ordered their chicken kabobs, hummus, their version of tzatziki and more recently added their chopped tomato and cucumber salad. The chicken is prepared perfectly and there's enough kabobs to feed both of us and lunch for tomorrow. We will continue to order their food and maybe next time I'll remember to take photos. read more

(1 Star) Another local restaurant that is completely overrated and seriously underdelivered. Three of us dined here, and our bill came to $118. Unfortunately, the food was some of the most bland and uninspired Persian cuisine we've ever had. Nearly everything lacked seasoning, and instead of serving flavorful, balanced dishes, they seem to think selling large pots of plain rice makes up for it. The biggest disappointment was the chicken with walnut and pomegranate molasses. It was genuinely inedible--overwhelmingly sour, completely unbalanced, and devoid of any depth of flavor. When our server finally returned to ask how everything was, we were honest and explained that we couldn't eat it. Her response was simply, "I'm sorry," and that was the end of it. The Shirazi salads were equally disappointing. They were completely unseasoned, forcing us to season our own food at the table just to make them edible. In the hospitality industry, when guests clearly express that a dish is inedible and remains untouched, there should be some effort to make things right. Instead, there was no attempt to replace the dish, remove it from the bill, or offer any meaningful resolution. An apology without action isn't hospitality. What makes this especially disappointing is that Persian cuisine is known around the world for its rich flavors, balance, and centuries of culinary tradition. We weren't expecting a Michelin-star experience--we were simply expecting the basic fundamentals of cooking. Instead, we were served food that lacked passion, care, and respect for the cuisine it represents. The atmosphere is attractive, but if as much effort went into the food as went into the décor, this restaurant would be far more successful. Came here for the first time and had a mixed experience. The place is huge inside, which was surprising, but just a heads up, parking is pretty limited out front, so you might have to circle a bit. We ordered the Ali Baba Special Kabob. The ground sirloin kabob was really tasteful and the star of the plate. The filet mignon and chicken were good when they first came out, but they dried up fast once they started to get cold. Where would you go for the best Mediterranean food in the valley? Yelp didn't lead me here, but a friend did and it was wonderful! In a small corner strip mall with limited parking, but plenty of street availability, sits this cute (I believe family owned) restaurant. It was much bigger than I expected, yet for a mid week visit, the main dining area was all that was being used. The food was fresh and flavorful. Portions were more than enough to share. I don't usually like writing negative reviews because I truly believe every restaurant can have an off day, but this experience was hard to overlook. I ordered directly through their website. Shortly after, I received a call from a San Diego number to confirm the order. During the call, they asked me to provide my credit card information again, confirm who was picking up the food, and seemed confused because the person picking it up wasn't the credit card holder -- even though they were speaking directly with the card owner at the time. The whole process felt unnecessarily complicated and a bit uncomfortable. When we picked up the food, unfortunately the quality didn't make up for the confusion. The chelo kabob was dry, and no sauces were included at all. The salad had a noticeably sweet flavor that we weren't expecting and didn't really enjoy. To make things more frustrating, I noticed that the prices are higher when ordering over the phone compared to what's listed online. I understand that mistakes happen and restaurants can have busy days, but overall this experience left me disappointed. read more

Portions are huge. At least two meals for me, which is great. I had the beef koubideh. Very tender and flavorful. With the rice and tomato, it was a delicious meal(s). I also had the tahdig with stew (I don't remember which stew, but it had lentils, tomatoes and beef). I can't say I'm the biggest fan of tahdig, but my sister liked it. I prefer softer rice, and tahdig is known for being hard, so it's just not my favorite, but the flavor was good. Overall really good food. I hope to try their Persian desserts next time. read more

It's really disappointing to have such a poor experience, especially knowing how amazing Persian food should be. We placed an order from here, and the problems started as soon as it arrived. The wrong yogurt dip was included, the Salad Shirazi was old and dry, and the tahdig was so hard it was practically inedible. When I called the restaurant, an older gentleman explained that they didn't have the yogurt dip I ordered, so they just substituted it without asking. He also mentioned they prepare Salad Shirazi in large batches a day or two in advance, and that their tahdig is made either early in the morning or even the night before--which explains why everything tasted stale. Unfortunately, this place seems to be relying solely on a Persian name, because there's clearly no real Persian kitchen quality or authenticity behind it. I thought this place was supposed to be a upscale Persian restaurant. Boy was I wrong. I ordered tadig Ghormehsabzi and it wasn't even crispy! It was chewy. That's not the way it's supposed to be. Where every other Persian restaurant I've been to, brings out sabzi (green veggies and onions) as a complimentary with bread while waiting for your entree to arrive , this place charged us over $10 for it !! The lady asked me if I wanted sabzi, I said yes, figuring maybe they only bring it to people who wanted it. Unbelievable, I will never go back there again. I love going to this place because the Food is good and tastes authentic Persian food. However the Service is horrible. The receptionist was so rude, disrespectful and annoying. She treats me like I am a scammer.. This time her worst attitude resurfaced.They made a mistake and gave my order to an unknown uber driver and this rude woman demanded that i go home and call the uber. I said you made the mistake you should call the driver. No apologies, no remedies was offered. So I sat there and waited for for 20 minutes without knowing what was the resolution. I was not even offered anything. I wasn't aware they are cooking my order already because no one else told me. I felt was taken for granted and respected as a customer. I feel that the restaurant has good potential because the food was good. The staff should be motivated to make sure that customers are happy with their services. Any employee who doesn't have people skills should not be in this business. They should train their staff to do their best serving and respecting their customers In regards to the ambiance , they can lighten up the place with Persian decor. read more

If there is a way to rate Ali, and his staff at Ali Baba 10 stars, I would. Our family has been celebrating big events at this restaurant and today was no different. We had my grandmother's funeral reception here and Ali and his staff did an amazing job with a set up and accommodated additional guest beyond our original reservation. On top of that, he gave us such a great deal too. The staff was friendly and very efficient. We are regulars at Ali Baba for their food, of course. So the spread did not disappoint. The décor of Alibaba Persian Restaurant seems like a modern version of Persian interior design. Its subtle, pleasing, subdued colors with muted arabesque patterned fabric banquettes & booths are punctuated by colourful, faux stained glass of what may be Scheherazade, the heroine of 1000 & 1 Nights who managed to escape being murdered by her husband-sultan.  1) Lavash bread with butter, a concession to American taste, comes out immediately while studying a rather extensive menu where some foods may date back to the Persian empire which did battle against the classical Greeks at Marathon, Salmis, Thermopylae.  2) Vivid golden brown Tahdig is Basmati crispy rice that forms at the bottom of the rice pot where the flame hits hot. In addition, this Tahdig seems fried in oil to add a sheen & add even more crunchiness. The Tahdig here shatters like diamonds in your mouth, which is an understatement. I found the texture to be "intriguing".  Choice of stews which is poured over the Tahdig. I opted for Gormeh Sabzi. Sabzi refers to green veggies & herbs like parsley, cilantro, leek. This stew has red brown, earthy kidney beans, bits of beef. It reminds me of the Mexican Chile Verde sauce in color & consistency.  This version of Tahdig with scattering of bright yellow Saffron rice was a unique experience not found so far in other L.A. area Persian - Iranian eateries.  3) Beautifully presented Kashk o Bademjan refers to whole eggplant which is roasted & mashed into pillowy, velvety softness. Heavily drizzled with Kashk, a mildly sour yogurt. Golden green olive oil encircles the perimeter. Chiffonade of caramelized, earthy onion fried in oil on top. It goes well as a dip for the Lavash. Mix some of the Gormeh Sabzi with the Kashk o Bademjan for another perhaps tastier variation.  4) Alibaba's Polo Koresh Fesenjan is a  complex thickened reddish brown concoction tasting sweet, sour, fruity, bitter, earthy, woody with a subliminal grittiness. It reminds me of one of the Moles de Siete Colores of Oaxaca.  Ground walnuts & onion sautéed in oil, pomegranate molasses, whole moist, meaty chicken breast placed at the bottom of the deep bowl generously filled with the Koresh Fesenjan.  Large portion of fluffy, soft, enlarged Basmati rice with scattering of bright yellow Saffron rice.  1-4a) Abali Yogurt carbonated soda. Light sour, dairy funkiness enlivened by acidic carbon dioxide.  Persian Iced Tea: Close to standard iced tea with a touch of aromatic spice.  I must say that I over ordered not knowing the abundant amount of food for each order, not that I'm complaining. I avoided the meat dishes such as Soltani since I wanted to try out more involved dishes that require a more refined, culinary technique.  I was impressed by the competency of the kitchen for technique, but found many of the dishes ended up being bland which surprised me.  The major issue for me was the lack of satisfying Umami as well as the spices involved didn't have a bright, incisive freshness as witnessed by the "stale" Somagh mulberry condiment in a shaker at the table.  I added Hon Dashi, a Japanese powdered broth for Umami, to the dishes I took home as well applying freshly ground coriander, white pepper, cumin, etc. in varying degrees to enrich the flavours.  Service is acceptable and understated to the point of being ethereal. Kind yet distant. There is no enthusiasm to explain the dishes. However, on a Monday night Alibaba was serene, calm to have a meditative meal.  3+ stars read more

The restaurant ambiance is nice, calm and relaxed. Usually about 4-7 tables taken if there is no party going on. They can accommodate larger party groups. Very close to my house and always wanted to come here. I do love Persian food. Walking into the restaurant I noticed the decor and vibe. We received a very friendly welcome by the wait staff. We got seated immediately with menus. The owner gave us a complimentary hummus with lavosh and it was so smooth. We devoured it. I had in my mind what I wanted to order-I really do like chicken and beef kebabs but I was also open to trying something new. We decided to get an entrée and appetizer. The appetizer was split pea in the red sauce stew over crispy rice. It had wonderful flavor but I just found it too hard to eat with the crispy rice. Our entrées came out really quickly. I got a combo plate with one chicken kebab and one beef kebab I chose the lima beans and dill rice with steamed tomatoes. My meal was flavorful and the presentation was appealing. Since it was our first time there the four of us decided to share two desserts. We ordered the Persian ice cream and pistachio ice cream. The rose water flavors were strong throughout both but we enjoyed them. I didn't like the texture of the Persian ice cream with the frozen vermicelli as much but I was happy tried something new. If you're not used to eating out; an entrée for l $20 seems like a lot but I would say the portions were very generous and worth it. We all took some of our entrées to go. Parking can be challenging especially on a Friday night we parked in front of the restaurant if there's parking in the back I'm not aware of it. Also a good tip is to bring cash if you're with a party of four or more and you want to split the check they either don't have the ability or don't know how to charge or split the check amongst multiple credit cards or debit cards. It was a bit of a kerfuffle that they ended up putting the entire meal on my card which was very inconvenient. If one friend card didn't have the funds to cover the bill that could potentially be very embarrassing. The interior of the restaurant was clean with a lot of mood lighting and definitely had middle eastern influences in the artwork. The beautiful stain-glass pieces stood out to me. Nice place for friends to meet up or a date night. I didn't see any kids menu but you could definitely share family style if you wanted to. I've gotten take out here a few times with my significant other's mom for catering big parties but this was the first time I ate here at the restaurant with her and my mama. Food was great, chicken was moist. It didn't feel greasy at all. The portions are huge. We all had to get to go boxes for leftovers for lunch the next day. Service was nice and attentive. As for the ambiance, there were so many people eating here. As well as so many people picking up to go orders on a Saturday night. We have been regulars for years but due to the greed and bad customer service we will no longer eat here. The lady on the phone doesn't let you speak, and even when we want to pay for butter, which other Persian restaurants don't charge, they're still stingy with it.
