Of all the bike stores in the city these guys are the best. I went in there to fix a flat and they gave me all kinds of recommendations and then gave me a very good price. They seem very down to earth and chill. Definitely my favorite bike store. read more

Finally a store that is a reflection of the community that has moved into the area. The new wave of people that now live west of Western Ave. use bicycles as their major means of transportion and this store is vital to their needs and incourages more new life to move into Humboldt Park. I am glad that this business and others have opened on Division St. between Western and California proving that different businesses can surive there because of the demand for their services. read more

I visited the shop a total of 3 times until they were able to fix my bike. After multiple assurances that my bike was fixed and fully repaired. I paid $81 for a mediocre tune up that wasn't even finished the first time I came to pick it up. The tune up was said to fix my flat tire among other things, in which they told me would be covered under the specific tune up package. After receiving my bike, the tire was not properly fixed to the rim, resulting in the flat not being fixed. Then having to leave my bike there for another day, they specifically explained to me it was the inner tube that needed fixing, an additional $5.49. Also having to take a $10 cab ride to work. The next morning, the tire was flat again, in which I had to walk the bike to the shop AGAIN, in order to fix the flat. They stated, it was bad tubing and replaced the tube again. They also stated after I asked them about these rips in the tire if it was the tire. They specifically said no, those are just little tears from wear and tear. Another $10 cab ride to work. The third day, my bike looked fine the tire was enflated. I went from Division/Homan to Ohio/Grand before I got yet another flat tire. I called them about the issue again, they said Ok it's probably your tire. So an addition to the $81 tune up package, plus an additional $18 for a new tire. I will hopefully pick up my bike today good and ready to go. I realize this is maybe not considered a professional shop, however, my expectations were high in the sense they should have inspected my tire the first time in order to rule out any possible issues and to proceed to the fix. As what I assume, is procedure when fixing a repair. That's how you know what repair needs to be done. The guys in the shop were friendly and seemed knowledgeable however my specific experience leads me to believe that they are not in terms of solving difficult problems. The initial bike tune up package I agreed to, in my opinion was not worth the $75 base price and I wish I would have just googled how to do simple maintenance on my bike rather than paying them to do it and would have gotten my bike fixed at Kozys Cyclery instead, as I have had much better experiences with them. All in all I wish I could receive a refund for the tune up package, but I doubt that will be happening. I paid $99 total for mediocre repairs--if you want to call them that and overall was not satisfied as their incomplete repairs have caused lead to me to be late to work almost the entire week, and paying $40 in cab fare. Not to mention the added stress I endured going through this entire process that could have been avoided and they could have had a happy customer had they finished their job in the first place. Et. Final, I will not be visiting this repair shop in the future. However it is so close to my house, I will gladly make the trek elsewhere to avoid the stress again. read more

This place is awesome! I have stopped in few time just to see what kind of bikes they have for sale. Every time I have gone in they have treated me great. I don't know much about bikes and they never make me feel like less of a person because of it. Today I brought my bike in that has been sitting in a garage for a couple of years thinking I was going to drop atleast 50 dollars for a tune up. They pumped up the tires and oiled the chain for me and told me everything else looked great. They didnt charge me anything!! I feel like any other bike shop in the area might have charged me atleast what it costs for a tune up. These guys are great, laid back and dont try to sell you services you dont need. I had a tune-up done earlier this week. The turnaround was faster than any of the four other Chicago shops I've used, and the new chain they installed is great. I could tell the bike was test driven after work was completed (because the seat height was off), and I'm glad. I'll be coming here again for things I can't fix on my own. read more

I can't say enough good things about Cycle Urbano, but let me try. After thoroughly researching the bike I wanted to buy I found that Cyclo Urbano ("CU") had one in stock. A test ride confirmed my research and employee Juan Carlos of CU helped me correctly choose the size of my bike and gave me a very fair deal. In the first month that I owned the bike the chain frequently fell off the front chain wheel so I brought it back to CU for adjustment but the problem persisted. Over the course of a couple of months I got to know the staff well as they worked with me to correct the problem. The staff was ALWAYS helpful and NEVER made me feel that it was my fault or that I was being unreasonable. The young kids behind the counter were the picture of grace under fire. They were always courteous and helpful to me and everyone in the shop. It was also clear that they knew bicycle mechanics. Even so, my problem was a thorny one which didn't lend itself to either an easy or quick fix. Eventually the Shop Manager, Mike, got involved and diligently worked until the bike was 100% fixed. The fix required a new part which CU purchased at its own expense (hopefully it will be reimbursed by the manufacturer!). I paid nothing for parts or labor. Finding a business that will stand so firmly behind their product or service is rare. Finding peope who will gladly and enthusiastically support their customers is even rarer. Finally, what I especially like about CU is its mission to provide skills and employment to the youth in the Humbolt Park neighborhood. CU teaches tangible skills and gives valuable experience that will help their employees for the rest of their lives. Hey I gotta say first class treatment all the way from their boss to the workers in the shop they believe in the red carpet treatment unlike a lot of our military processing centers but that's another story. Brought my bike in n they killed it my bike is awesome thanks a million and as I said I'll swing some more Army pens your way. Hey fellas! I bumped into this great shop by accident, and boy was I glad, eventually bought a used bike, an absolute up grade from what a had, I was surprised of the knoledge these Cats have of Bikes, they have a community program to help kids stay buisy and focused,. Classes to build, fix, tun up etc, for a symbolic price. It's prety awesome, the people there are activist with a very simple but powerfull sence of purpuse; very afordable nothing compared to the yupy Bike shops in sorrunding hoods. this place is the real Mcoy! read more

Just had an awesome experience with this place! I live in Humboldt, but once upon a time...eons before the Hipster Invasion of Wicker and the Lincoln Park expansion into Bucktown...used to get my bike serviced elsewhere..but as the neighborhood goes to shit with all the phonies and wannabes...up go prices. ANYWAY..had my bike tuned up, re brake wired and a bunch of other misc. stuff and bam...super inexpensive and CARLOS...the guy who worked on my bike was awesome. Good kid. Great worker and knows his stuff. Be forewarned, this place doesn't have a huge amount of staff...so you may have to make an appt. to have your bike serviced. But price and competency....are outstanding. read more

I was out riding and my chain got jammed. After a few unsuccessful attempts at fixing it, I made my way to Ciclo Urbano. They fixed it on the spot in two minutes, and when I tried to pay - they told me not to worry about it. I wish I had some cash on me so I could've tipped the dude. This shop is amazing and has helped me recover my sister's stolen bike! It was stolen out of my storage unit and happened to turn up at their shop, and the manager Michael was suspicious so took note of the serial number and tracked down my sister to let her know, but it was too late to call the police since there was no confirmation. They took note of the bike and kept a look out for it, and sure enough it turned up back at the shop 2 months later! If it weren't for the amazing manager and his staff I don't think I would have ever seen this bike again. They truly went above and beyond a normal shop and really tried to help. I appreciate their integrity and honesty, and I would definitely go back to buy a bike or repairs. They also do great work servicing the local community which I have a lot of respect for. If the service at Ciclo Urbano was75% as good as its excellent social mission, I'd go back. But the service sucked (I dealt with a manager) and the work done on my bike was inadequate. I had to go to a different shop for a tune-up less than two months after I got my bike back from Ciclo Urbano. read more

Best customer service in chicago!!!! I recently brought i bike from Jeremy later that night him and juan invited me for a night ride. We met at the shop and took off to north ave beach as soon as we hit lakeshore i stripped my peddle till the point that i needed a new piece. let me remind you that it was sunday night bike shops close and had a long way from home these guys pushed me from North ave beach all the way back to the Bike shop fixed my peddle adjusted my seat. Decent bike shop, mainly went there because I lived close by. They don't have a very big selection of bikes/parts/accessories. The wheel selection is pretty solid. All the guys who work there are always super cool. Prices are reasonable as well. They also have some workshops where you can go and learn about bike repairs and builds. One thing I really don't like is that they have their "apprentices" work on bikes. Always takes them much longer and the work isn't as good. I don't want someone learning on my dime personally. read more

It had been some time since I was on a bike when I first went in to buy a used one. My intention was to get something less expensive than new which I could use to get used to riding again. Initially, I test rode a few bikes and settled on one. I liked the feel of Ciclo Urbano and at it's one of the few genuine places left on Division. Anyway, I didn't ride the bike for a few days and then realized I was too cramped on the bike. I brought it back in to Ciclo Urbano and a mechanic adjusted the handlebars and replaced the seat for me. But, after bringing the bike home again, I tried a longer ride and the bike was still uncomfortable. I called Ciclo Urbano again and they said that I could bring it back, even at this late date, and either the bike will fit or I can pick another bike for the same price which fits. I went back and got a hybrid instead of a road bike and have been ecstatic to be riding on it again. Ciclo Urbano, through the words and deeds of everyone I interacted with there, is a stand up place. read more
