    Carnitas

I like the concept of this place. You order up front and they get your meal at the table. The carnitas were OK. The rice was Ok. The beans were not... The highlight of my lunch was the agua de jamaica (hibiscus water), it was the real deal even though the presentation was confusing (a Coca Cola product?). The staff is nice and attentive.

Stopped in to eat after a weekend of hunting in Red River. The menu was huge, a wide variety of food to choose from. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa was very flavorful and super tasty. My husband ordered the Azteca Quesadilla with shrimp and I ordered the Wild Catch Spicy Grilled Salmon. Both dishes came out super fast. My husband's dish was filled with a lot of shrimp and veggies, such as onions, mushrooms and tomato's. It came with salsa, guacamole and sour cream. The tortilla was crispy and delicious. My dish was topped with a lot of tomatoes which was too many for me, the grilled veggies were super tasty and crunchy, and not over cooked which I really liked. The rice was just ok. What we really liked was the hot jalapeños that were on the bar at the register that you can pick up for free. They are grilled and add just the right amount of heat to your dish. We will definetly be back to try some other dishes.

Came to Taos with my buddies for a ski/snowboarding trip. While in town we wanted to try some of the food here. I got the Chicken Azteca Quesadilla and it was good, but a little greasy (I think bc of the onions so maybe next time no onions). I got a lime margarita, and it was good (but I'll drink any lime margarita you put in front of me). The place is a little pricey, but you get a good amount of food, so for the quality and quantity, the price isn't that bad. They have homemade horchata, and it's pretty good, but they have $1.00 refills which kinda bites. Otherwise a very good restaurant, great ambiance and decorations on the walls, and VERY quick service. Also wasn't that busy when we got here, so that might have affected it. Overall, I'd have to give this place 7 1/2 Canes' in Bryan out of 10.

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It seems to be an authentic, real-Taos place to eat. We ordered food to go but then just decided to eat out on the patio because it was so inviting. The food was quite tasty. The staff were friendly and following safe covid practices. The restaurant was very clean and open with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is extensive and there's something for everyone!!! There is also a little area offering roasted peppers, limes and lemons if you want to add extra goodies to your meal.

This was recommended to us while visiting Taos after our horse ride. It's a walk up window counter inside where you order and then sit down to wait for your food. I got their shrimp tacos, my brother had their fish tacos, my mom got a chicken quesadilla and our friend opted for a chicken burger. It didn't take too long before our food arrived. My brother and I ate our tacos quite quickly which were great. My mom loved her chicken quesadilla and gave me a small piece to try and it was quite good. Our friend seemed to enjoy her chicken burger and decided to take the leftovers back to our hotel. Overall, not a great looking place and a bit run down inside. Ordering was slow too but pretty good tasting food in general.

If I could give this zero stars I would. This is the worst food I ever paid for. Carnitas were dry and unflavored. The Spanish rice was crunchy. Nachos lacked cheese which I assume was the whole point of getting nachos. I did read the bad reviews but I was forced to come here for a celebratory event. I was crossing my fingers I was wrong, but no. This place was like the previous comments.

It's clear they use low quality ingredients. I had the chicken enchilad plate. way to salty and the corn tortillas were raw and cold

Finally we figured it had been put on the wrong side of the Main Street so we went the other way and ended up hungry and ready for a drink and dinner. The only negative is that I couldn't get a margarita other than the wine margaritas they have. Since there is a sweet and sour mix in them I went for a white wine instead and it was perfect for the day. We ordered our drinks and chips and guacamole to get started while we looked at the menu. Our server was super and we sat on the patio in the shade which was lovely. There was plenty of shade for the hot day. To stave off our hunger while we looked at the menu we ordered the chips and salsa with guacamole. The salsa was fabulous as was the rest but I had to comment on the salsa because so often these days it's just too tomato-y or bland. This was flavorful and had a bit of spice. For dinner, we ordered the steak tampiquena and I would get it again. Savory, perfectly cooked and hearty. Check this place out if you are visiting!

The real standout, though, was the flan. It was hands down the best I've ever had: incredibly smooth, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. Our server, Chaniece, absolutely made the experience. I told her I wanted to order some of the most authentic Spanish dishes on the menu, and she came through perfectly. She was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed excited to help us experience the restaurant. If you have questions about the menu, ask for her recommendations--you won't be disappointed. My partner ordered Martin's Breakfast Burrito, and I had the huevos rancheros. Both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. Michael's Kitchen is only open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., so plan accordingly. We arrived around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and had about a 30 minute wait. It was busy, but the wait was actually enjoyable because the restaurant has several little nooks filled with antiques and artwork by local artists. There was plenty to look at, and the time passed quickly. Taos has many wonderful mom and pop restaurants, but from what I learned during our visit, there are fewer locally owned restaurants serving traditional Spanish cuisine. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try all of them, but I'm very happy we chose Michael's Kitchen. Between the authentic food the welcoming atmosphere and Chaniece's outstanding service, it was one of the highlights of our visit to Taos.

Omelet was tasty and filling- slices of American cheese vs shreds was a little unexpected. A cherry on top of the cottage cheese. Literally. That's weirdness yall.
