Updating my review I wrote earlier this year, based on a few more visits. I really liked this place in the beginning, but we began to have problems. A few orders would come out wrong, they would fix them, but it was consistent to expect your order to just not be right at first try. Who wants to keep waiting for food? Also, when my boyfriend and I ordered appetizers to share, which were rather large, messy and somewhat expensive, they did not EVER bring out separate plates with them. Wait staff are extremely inattentive, so to get plates, napkins, drink refills...best of luck. They really, really need to work on service. A wait staff member argued with my father-in-law over something very simple and was very rude to him. We used to go here almost weekly, but haven't been in a few months. The food is good, really good, when it is correct. They do work to correct problems, sometimes, but have really scattered, bad service, even when it's not that busy. I hope they can improve on that. read more

I think the food here is delicious, and they have a great outdoor area. I wouldn't say it's quite a 5-star restaurant yet, as we've been there a few times when they seem to be working out some kinks with the service. However, everyone has always been very nice and most of our experiences have been really good. Another great addition is that we've been here a few times when they've had live music - once inside a little before Christmas, and most recently outside on the patio on a gorgeous evening. The guy that they had playing was good and played a great selection of music that appealed to the 3 different generations at our table that day! read more

I will NEVER go back here. I live in the area and have been going to Cielo Blue off/on for a few years. I have always felt the food has been over priced and the margaritas are the highest priced ones in the area. I have noticed over the past year that the quality of the food and the drinks has declined steadily. The service has been slow and inconsistent. We had gone to taco Tuesdays last three weeks and had enjoyed our times there even though the service was not good but we enjoyed spending time outside on the patio with the nice weather. Tonight we went there for the last time. We had a large group that ordered a lot of food and drinks. Our bill was very high with the group we had. At the end I asked for three soft shell of beef tacos to go for my son to eat when he got home. On taco Tuesday you get three tacos for $4.99 and I have ordered a takeout order of 3 tacos the last 2 two times at that price. tonight when I went there, with our larger group, I ordered 3 tacos at the end to take home. When I got my bill I noticed the tacos were $9.95. I figured it was a mistake and showed it to my server and he told me these exact words " my manager told me i had to charge that much because it's a takeout order..." I was confused and asked to see the manager. Apparently his name was "Brian." He proceeded to tell me that it is their policy that that deal doesn't apply to takeout orders. I told him to show me where that policy was and there is nothing written for the customer to see that policy. I told him I could understand that so everyone could not order takeout orders for them. However we had eaten there for a couple hours with a large group and ordered a lot of food and I felt that was ridiculous and should not apply to people that have already eaten in the restaurant. He basically shrugged his shoulders and stared at me and said nothing other than I would have to pay it because that's their policy. he could've care less what I said and literally took no interest in trying to remedy the situation for the proper customer service that should have been done. So over $5 (it was the principle not the 5 bucks) they lost a customer and also every person I was with. I would've been completely satisfied if he had said "I'll let you have it this time but just know in the future that's our policy". We will not be going back ever. They have lost my business. They lost the business of everyone I was with and everyone that was sitting around me as well that told me they did not feel that was right. The manager was rude and could've cared less about the customer. I own a company myself and would never have done that type of service to one of my customers. Now I understand why their business has dropped so much. Word gets around in the small community we live in as well. I'll be glad to take my business elsewhere because we have multiple Mexican restaurants in our area that appreciate their customers and treat them right. Bye read more

3 is the best I can do after 2 tries. I think the food is good, I think the people are nice but they just don't have proper service training. There is also an issue with the kitchen getting overloaded and behind. All and all just need some more structure in relation to back of the house and front of the house. I suppose the best I could say was that it was ok. We went for an early dinner on Friday. The first thing I noticed was how cramped that it was. It's as if they built it small and then crammed every bit of furniture that they could. Then to add insult to injury, they sat two big guys at a table in the bar. So it was the worst of the cramped spaces. It took quite a while to even have the drink order taken. The service was very spotty through the meal. The server kept apologizing. To the point where I felt sorry for her for not providing service. (How does that even work?) The food was just ok. There was nothing special or exemplary. In fact, I don't think I can even recall what we ordered. That's really not a good sign for a first visit that was only a couple weeks ago. With the number of Mexican restaurants that are local, they're going to have to pick up their game quickly. I suspect we'll probably give it another try. It was just kinda a letdown. read more

I tried the sopes, which is one of their traditional Mexican dishes. I chose the chicken sopes. I was not very impressed with this dish. It was just typical Mexican food you can get anywhere. First, there was hardly any chicken on my thick fried homemade tortillas. It said it had refried beans, but that was also lacking. The thick fried tortilla were so dry that it took away from the rest of the meal and they had a very corn mealy consistency. Just not my cup of tea. But the bar and outside seating area is really nice. I'd go back for some drinks and chips and salsa at happy hour. We had 8 people and the service was very good. Got all our orders right and didn't take forever. Everyone in our party did feel the same as I did about the food. And we all got something different. read more

Cielo Blue is a new Mexican restaurant on Dallas highway just west of the Avenue West Cobb. We have been waiting for it to open, which it did around late February 2018. We went there for an early Sunday evening dinner. There was a good crowd, and we sat at the bar. The bartender Braelyn was very friendly (if a little busy), and she made us two very good Texas margaritas (go with the 24 oz which is very well priced). The menu was quite extensive with some different offerings than you typically see. I had the Pollo Ranchero, which was really tasty and my wife had the Enchiladas Supremas (three enchiladas dinner). She really enjoyed hers as well and we both sampled each others and were well-pleased. In the summer, it looks like this will be a very popular place, as it has an outdoor patio area as well as an upstairs deck, which are both served by adjacent bars. The place is nicely-decorated and I suspect it's going to do quite well. We recommend it. read more

Hostess was incredibly rude. We are Friday regulars and won't be coming back. We complained to the manager, but she wouldn't offer any solutions. We just walked across the parking lot to Mellow Mushroom. Won't be returning to Cielo Blue. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. It has everything you need for a great lunch or dinner experience. Friendly staff, great margaritas, delicious food and 3 patios, not to mention the cheerful decor inside. I had an amazing experience last time and I will be back with friends soon. 5 stars all day! (Alcoholic beverages) by the time the drink came it was time to go. They messed up SEVERAL orders. Didn't apologize, barely made an effort to fix the issues. Food quality was just ok. All of this AFTER me giving the place a second chance. Never again. Would not recommend. It's unfortunate that the service doesn't match the beautiful outdoor seating. read more

We just met friends for dinner at Cielo Blue and we all enjoyed our service, meals and experience. Gasheed is an excellent server, he has a great knowledge of the menu, a super great personality, and is prompt and on top of things such as refills, to-go boxes, etc. We all enjoyed our meals: meat lovers quesadilla, coconut shrimp tacos, chipotle burrito,, and burrito a la brasa and the charro beans were outstanding too. They have great music playing and it is decorated nicely. Overall, we would recommend Cielo Blue and definitely ask for Gasheed for your server!! read more

I recommend the Tacos Campechanos. They are not listed on the menu on the regular (featured as a special) but they are really good. If you like steak and chorizo order these. I just ask and they make them for me. read more

Went here on a Saturday at 2 in the afternoon and waited 5 mins to be seated. After being seated I waited an additional 5 minutes before the waiter even acknowledged me. We ordered our drinks and queso which we waited even longer for. When we asked the waitress for jalapeños for our queso we were given jalapeños purée. If I could give zero stars I would. The customer service was horrible. We went to pick up the order and the waiters were all on their phone texting. The location on Dallas Hwy is not comparable to the other cielo blue restaurants. I accidentally ordered food from this location and it's nothing like the one in Smyrna. The food is very salty. They deep fried the southwest egg rolls. The egg rolls were so greasy that you can actually see the grease floating on the plate. We had to throw them away. The shrimp tacos were also salty. A nice place to stop by if I am in the area. Service is sometimes a hit or miss, but the food is always good so it cancels that out. Parking in the area can be tough depending as well but it's not impossible. Friday lunch - Ordered kids food right when we sat down, adults 10 Minutes later -brought adults first (and not correct), and kids coagulated, cold meal 20 mi it's later. Had to ask multiple ppl more than 5x to find our server, etc etc etc. Managers saw me looking for server many times and did not offer assistance until I was about to walk out. We ordered the Lunch Special 1, Oh and by the way they have a LUNCH MENU 7 days a week and a fountain drink is included as well. Have been here many times and it was fine. But, last night we went and the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other (not getting any younger). We asked if they could turn it down. The greeter asked the manager, and he said no. We left. Rather have their loud music than customers tells me a lot. It wasn't just loud, it was LOUD.
