The best from Acworth to Marietta. We're from Chicago, home of so many great Mexican restaurants.. In the last 5 years we have been horrified that so few of the many Mexican restaurant in the Acworth/ Kennesaw/ Marietta area produce edible food. La Cocina Mexicana is the exception! It can compete with Chicago for the exceptional food, service, and ambiance. We drive 10 miles, passing many many mediocre places just to eat there. read more

Hello, just thought I'd let you know we come to this restaurant. Very seldom reason why we're never thrilled when we leave. The meal that we had was a 3 out of a 1 to 5 rating. The service was great young lady took care of his pretty well and we didn't have to look for too much. We were checked on regular, which was good better than last time. The ambience is the same as it has been for years. They haven't changed it at all. They do, however, have live music on Fridays and Saturdays it looks like. Hole in the wall Mexican places are always the best, and this place serves up great hole in the wall Mexican! Located in the Publix shopping center and hidden on the far left side, you'll find this hole. My girlfriend is a fan of this place so we've been here twice already. Love the atmosphere and seating options, and the nice little bar in front. They also have outdoor seating. My girlfriend claims they serve up the coldest beer, and while it's cold bud lite, it's pretty cold. The cheese dip here is pretty good and so is the salsa. Loved their street tacos, which I would highly suggest. The only downfall is pricing is a little more than I'd normally pay and the street tacos don't come with a side. Don't need to add too much more, other than saying this will hit your Mexican fix. Haven't tried the margaritas yet, but that'll happen for sure in the next few months. No issues either here with service. Keep in mind that most patrons out this way aren't really wearing masks, which is no bueno. I do recommend this spot! read more

We get take out from here frequently. They are always busy but are pretty quick preparing food. Fairly typical Mexican but they have a few more unique items (like the "steamed veggie salad" that is very good, but not really a "salad"). We have alway gotten good service. read more

First and last time here. The food was not that good at all. It was luke warm on hot plates, no seasoning on the skimpy servings of chicken at all. Very bland to say the least. I had the Enchiladas Verde, a dish I make at home, only a drizzle of sauce which technically does not make it an enchilada, corn tortillas were cardboard like. Wife had Enchiladas suprema, which were a bit better (a solid C). Service was horrendous to non-existent resulting in no tip (we usually tip 15-20%). I had to look for our server. She kept looking at our table but never came over. They never checked on us during the meal. Seats were uncomfortable. We were seated below a vent that was blowing out cold air in December, caused our food to get cold fast (who turns on the AC in winter????). There is NO Parking for people with Disabilities! This is a major issue and violates local, state and federal law. Don't bother with this restaurant, there's better. read more

The food here is just ok but it isn't great. Be aware if you are ordering beer. They price gouge you if you like the novelty 32oz size. I mentioned to the manager that the price per ounce was way higher for the 32 ounce beer. She came back to tell me she mentioned it to the owner, the response was, "these are our prices". They know what they are doing and it is on purpose. I recommend La Parilla or Pablano's. Their food is much better and they are in the business of making you happy. If you're on the fence, then give this place a try. I've been eating this establishment's food for years. If you have a bad meal it's either because they are short staffed or you didn't articulate preferences when ordering. This is a local spot. Many employees are comprised of folks that live in and around the area. The staff is nice and accommodating to virtually any request. Will the food blow you away? Probably not. This isn't 5 star fare. They're not serving cilantro infused pork over deconstructed burrito with farm-raised piggies. The burritos taste like burritos, the tamales like tamales. Will you leave satisfied? Most likely. Set your expectations accordingly and I think this is a great spot to share a meal with friends/loved ones. I recommend the fajitas, any of the enchiladas, and the sopa de pollo. Also, ask for hot sauce with the chips. Every time I ask for it with food, the staff forgets. read more

Horrible. Ordered cheese dip. Never came. Brought out Bud light. Ordered Budweiser. Ordered steak salad received chicken. Asked for manager, he blew us off. Steak was so chewy, like bubble gum. Elizabeth was a delightful server and La Cocina did not disappoint! We ordered the chimichanga, enchiladas la cocina, and their special of the day burger tacos. Dine-in included the standard chips and salsa table service - a commonplace, but not unwelcome compliment to the meal. The burger tacos were unexpectedly delicious: the best of a Big Mac and street taco blended together. I loved the variety of meats and sauces, not to mention the overall presentation, of my enchiladas; my wife's shredded beef was so succulent and flavorful. This place definitely caters to the casual family and young adult group (playing top 40's instead of traditional music) and has decor reminiscent of a Señor Frogs, but I would dare the "authenticity-centric" critic to not enjoy their food. Right outside Brookstone 1 subdivision, this is our go-to Mexican place for both convenience & the food. Their chips and red rice are among the best around & wife - a considered Mexican-food enthusiast - also declares the enchilada sauce the only she likes. Other options to try: brisket chimichanga, steak-fajita-quaesedilla, steak tampequena, carnitas & more are big enough to share if trying to cut back on cost or calories. Taco Tuesday & various other specials also good. Nice cold Blue Moon beer. On the down side, service has ebbed & flowed over years but very good now. read more

We went as a family to this restaurant after a long morning day for lunch. This was closest to our home. The location of the restaurant was set as part of other businesses that share a complex. This was located adjacent to Publix grocery store. The interior somewhat had a vibe of getting inside a restaurant in Mexico. But not that much compared to other Mexican restaurants that I have already visited. After the food order, It took a little while for the order to arrive. Compared to other restaurants in this similar category I feed they went slow. I know we went to lunch around 4pm (that is not ideal) but i can forgive on that. I expected my dish to have sizzling sound hot when it arrived because it was just that kind of dish. But it did not. The taste was really good, since I was super hungry at that time. Then later have some few bites my wife complained that it was too salty. Then after that I tasted my dish again and yes it was salty. Me and my wife did not order the same dish but different ones. I would advice the restaurant to watch for the salt in their dish. So overall it was great and good to know there is a Mexican restaurant to go by. But I would be hesitant to recommend to friends. read more

I continue to be pleased with my subsequent visits to La Cocina. And despite Donna's lack of culinary experience, most likely limited to funnel cakes and fish sticks, opinions are what they are and I post them, at least in this situation to hope for improvement for purely selfish reasons - I want my local Mexican Restaurant to get better! Get over yourself sweetcheeks. I am kind, by no stretch of the imagination a Brookstone yuppie - more of an outcast, always tip 20% when deserved and am willing to give any local establishment a second (or third, or more) chance to impress. (Would I rather stay close? Of course!!!) I of all people know that we all have our bad days... I still have no love for the old bartenders that still lurk, glaring, just waiting to mess up my order, but I am willing to give the margaritas another go, even if they may want to spit in my drink. ;-) Anyway, I do like the convenience of La Cocina and their ever improving customer service and I'm still a sucker for their Fajita's for 2....or three or more! read more
