I was able to check them out pre pandemic during the week.  I tried the pho  bowl and a fried rice bowl with cucumber, bean sprouts, spinach, corn, scallions and sweet and sour sauce and both were really good, very flavorful and the portion size was perfect.  The set up is really just going through the line telling them what your base and toppings are.  I had one there and took the other to go.  I will have to try the vermicelli on  my next visit. read more

Went for lunch on a Friday and loved it! It wasn't that busy which I liked, but can imagine it gets busy. The staff was friendly and the korean chicken wings came out fast and were delicious. You can order at the counter or at a kiosk, which is super cool. Would definitely recommend the bao and the chicken wings. I cannot get enough of this place! Nestled in Plaza Midwood it is the perfect spot to get your fix of Pho and Banh Mi. Something unique that I enjoy about Cilantro is that the have digital ordering so if it's your first time there it's helpful to be able to see all of the options on a screen without the pressure of a line waiting behind you. I have been twice now and ordered the pork belly bao buns, both times! They are a MUST have the buns are slightly sweet which balances the savory-ness of the pork belly so well. I love the classic Pho Cilantro, the noodles are perfect and broth is seasoned just right. I love adding lime juice to mine with the wedge that they provide. I was running late to get my nails done and was STARVING. So to run even later, I ordered the pork bang mi for pick up. Pick up was super easy and they wrapped it securely and effectively for the sandwich to be devoured in the most unlikely places (like the pedicure chair - pictured). We've been dying to try this place for quite some time and finally decided yesterday to give it a go. I love any kind of Asian food and was absolutely torn at what to order since everything sounded perfect. I ended up building my own bowl with vermicelli while my husband did the fried rice. We both ordered the lemon grass pork and were very impressed at the amount of flavor and almost smoky scent to the meat. We each ordered a variety of vegetables and toppings and had the vinaigrette on the side. It was just a good tasting meal and I ended up having plenty leftover for lunch after ordering a large. The bowls came with a spring roll and we ordered a side of egg rolls (husbands preference) but we ended up enjoying the spring rolls even more. Please forgive me for taking so long to write this review but this place is all that and a bag of chips! I was in the area and was in "need" of Vietnamese food, pulled out my phone, went on my trusty yelp app and did a search. Boom! Cilantro Noodle pops up. My daughter was with me and I did have leftovers, so before you judge me as a gluttonous foodie, keep that in mind. The seasoned fries were hot, crispy and lived up to their name, seasoned! The crispy pork spring rolls were hot and crispy and perfect for the accompanying dipping sauce. The cilantro special noodle soup was so good and the broth was so luscious that no added sauces or embellishments were necessary. Just wish it had more of a kick to it. The cilantro chicken wings were Omg, good, good, good! Don't let the dash of fish sauce deter you. It works and its so good. We had one of their specialty drinks but I can't remember which one but thats not important because it's about the food and the food is mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm good! If you see a sign that says "order here" do not believe it!! Order at the kiosks, especially if you want pho. It was a little confusing to order, but not bad once I got the hang of it. It seems really nice if you come again and want the same order, since it can remember your card. I got the "small" pho ga (chicken pho), small is in quotes because it was quite generous! They also let you add more noodles and veggies for free, which is really nice. The beef broth was so good! Because I checked in on Yelp, I got a free egg roll! Cilantro is one of the new Vietnamese restaurants in Charlotte, though I wouldn't call it authentic, I would call it really really good. It's a unique restaurant concept, you can order at a kiosk or you can walk down the line and order face to face with a chef. I really enjoyed being able to create my own spring rolls and they are by no means small. You can chose different proteins and other fillings. If you don't want it wrapped together you can also get it in a bowl. The food overall is pretty good but the service was on point, food alone probably only 4 stars but the over all experience 5 I highly recommend trying it out and I'll for sure be back to try it out again soon! read more

Oh wow, this place did not disappoint. My friends and I tried to come during opening weekend but it was closed early. Luckily this time it was opened and we went to order right away! The ordering service is just like a Chipotle but with Vietnamese food. So you don't have to wait or get seated. We ordered the Cilantro Chicken Wings, Specialty Summer Rolls (But these are customizable), and the built it yourself vermicelli. These were all delicious and the summer rolls were huge and also had this crunch when you bite into them. Turned out to be a crispy egg roll soon they used as a filling! I am obsessed with this restaurant. I love the build your own bowl concept and it is super fast! It is perfect for a quick lunch or a to go dinner. The space is really cute and has an awesome noodle bowl mural on the wall, very Instagram/social media worthy. As for parking- Cilantro does have a small lot that you may be able to find a spot in. If not there is plenty of street parking. I ordered the vermicelli bowl with honey glazed tofu (I am vegetarian so love that tofu is a protein option), cilantro, pineapple, cucumber, pickled medley, and crispy shallots. I got the crispy shallots at the recommendation of a staff member and they did not disappoint! Next time I visit I am definitely going to add a fried egg on top. I am excited to go back and try building my own fresh rolls and pho bowl. The meals here are super filling while being healthy which is a big plus for me. Pro : their pho comes out with spoons, so no need to grab the biodegradable ones by the utinsils. The staff was very friendly, and you get more noodles for free. I love the concept of an Asian fast dining place with fresh rolls (you really can't beat freshly rolled rolls). That being said we only tried their pho. My warning sign should've that their bun bo hue doesn't have congealed blood. I ordered it since I read a review that said it's the best they've had in Charlotte, whereas after I'd have to say it's the worst I've have all my life. Both that and pho dac biet lacked the depth of flavor I'd expect from a Vietnamese place. The Vietnamese sausage squares could be better quality. It got to the point where I added hoisin sauce to my bun bo hue (come on, it's like adding ketchup to your bbq in hopes it'll taste better). This review is strictly for delivery. It was pretty quick and easy. I wasn't left wondering when I would get my food on a rainy day when I was feeling lazy and hungry. I love that when you order via Yelp/grub hub it shows you a real time estimate as well as a GPS of your driver once he leaves the restaurant. I ordered Cilantro Chicken Wings, Pho Ga(chicken pho) and build you own Spring Rolls. All came nicely packaged and properly handled by the driver. Kudos to him as well! Now for the food. The Pho broth was light and tasty. I opted for vegan broth since I don't eat red meat, and It was surprisingly very flavorful! The bowl had good amounts of shredded chicken, noodles, with the included side vegetables and condiments. Very good bowl of chicken pho. The cilantro wings were very tasty and not too salty! A very unique balance of sweet and salty as well as still being crispy. I will take this as my queue to try their other flavors of wings next time. Last but not least, the BYO spring rolls. I must say, they do not list all the ingredients you can include when you order online via grub hub, so I did what I could with what was displayed. I included garlic shrimp, lettuce, cucumber, crispy shallots and a crispy roll. I would have liked to have included bean sprouts instead of lettuce and opt out for less vermicelli noodles, as it already was included, even if you did choose to do so. There was actually too much noodles if you ask me. So much that the size of the spring roll was huge. Definitely not the regular spring roll size I'm used to. It was also quite hard to eat/enjoy bc of the size. The fillings kept falling out of the roll and made dipping it into the peanut sauce almost impossible. Regardless of that, the spring roll taste was good and freshly made. I would definitely try to visit their location next time, and maybe encourage them to roll me a smaller spring roll, as I've read they make it in front of you. I have seen so many posts on social media about Cilantro Noodle and I finally got a chance to try it out. It is a great concept a build your own Vietnamese masterpiece. I decided to go with a Bahn Mi and went traditional with my toppings. Lemon grass pork, cucumber, cilantro. Pickled veggies and jalapeños. I also got a side of the spring rolls. The pork was very tasty and tender. All of the veggies were crisp and fresh. If I had to knock of a couple of points it would be for the bread. It was fresh but more of a sub roll type rather than the crisp outside and tender inside I'm use to in a great Bahn Mi. It is still a delicious sandwich and I am looking forward to going back. The spring rolls were very good and the sweet and sour sauce had a fantastic flavor and a slight kick to it. It is a great concept. Very friendly staff and tasty food. A solid four star experience. Again, I'm on tour and one of my traveling partners says "I'm hungry, pick something I've never had before". Well, not knowing my partner's threshold for weirdness, I chose to go easy on him. "Let's do pho". He's never had pho, so this should be an experience for the both of us. Upon locating this place, we came upon a festival for Juneteenth which was pretty cool, because it brought out plenty of artists and quite a few people that I would tend to agree with. That being said, it was still a surprise, so I wasn't sure if the restaurant's hours were affected. As it turns out they weren't, which was nice. When we entered, it was a bit confusing as to where to order. There were two kiosks set up for what I assume were COVID protocols. There was also a sign set up near the counter that said "ORDER HERE". We just went ahead and ordered at the counter. Confusing, but not a deal-breaker. Orders in, my partner and I grabbed a seat and watched the goings-on outside. It donned on me that this area of town is really cool, and probably somewhere I should visit when not on business. Both of our meals came out fairly quick which was nice. The pho broth is different, but not bad in the slightest. Since I've had COVID I'm not the best person to judge flavors anymore, but the broth was still really tasty. The meat and noodles were awesome to the point where I'd love to come back once my taste and smell senses are full bore again. One thing I'd like to comment on was the fresh spring rolls. I've never had versions where you can customize the "toppings" in them before, but definitely give these a try. What I chose was damned good. All-in-all, I really like this place. It's in a cool part of town, with cool, like-minded people (I assume), and food that is spot-on as far as familiar Vietnamese-style flavors go. I'll be back at some point. read more

The only thing good about this place is where it's located... the pho is not authentic and overpriced compared to other pho places in my area. I got a tofu pho for almost 15$ with tax and when I received it the tofu it came with was so small and barely any. I've been here a couple of times, but most recently during COVID times. They now have touchscreens to place your order (along with hand sanitizer), or you can place an order online/call ahead. I opted for the Pho (steak & meatballs) and got the larger order - $12 to go. The broth and meatballs were in one container, the noodles/steak/onion in another, and they provided a bag of limes, cilantro, basil & jalapeños. Honestly I wasn't sure how "fast takeout" pho was going to be ( Pho Hoa Restaurant is my top choice), but I was very impressed. The portion size was huge and the broth was delicious. I couldn't even finish my bowl! Other than pho, I've had the wings (really good), spring rolls (OK) and the BYO vermicelli which is also very good, but I've learned you really need to nail down the right ingredients when you make your own. Overall I think Cilantro Noodle is a great addition to Plaza Midwood and we don't have many Vietnamese "fast takeout" places around here.
