Great chicken rice soup. I work close by and just discovered this place. The soup has great flavor, it is packed with white meat chicken, fresh cilantro and rice. I order it with a hot sauce on the side and it's delicious. The chicken tacos were great too. Clean and friendly place. Coming from NYC being used to eating very good spanish food we were pleasantly surprised that it tasted even better than the food we have been accustomed to. We had nachos with chicken, steak quesadilla & steak tacos. It was all so good! Beware of the hot sauce. While it doesn't taste bad it is the hottest thing I have ever tasted in my life. Got home and no salsa no guac no cheese tons of rice filler so i called them and the manager said " we told you u have to ask for it " wich wasnt true he never said that and u shouldnt have to ask for things that narmally come with an item .... Relatively in expensive Mexican food that tastes better than most things in sag! Had steak tacos on soft corn tortillas. Less than 15mins my food was ready. It smelled good. Couldn't wait to dig in. Steak was cooked well done nicely seasoned with salt and pepper. The tacos were garnished with fresh pick de gallo and a nice sprinkling of fresh cilantro. The corn tortillas were not too thin and held up til the end The order also came with rice and beans. Delicious! Will definitely come back. They make their own red and green hot sauce. It had no cheese, very little sour cream, a ton of rice and a good amount of beans, and some shredded chicken Had no flavor was dry and unappealing. And for $12 it wasn't worth it. Basically if you HS lunchroom was having " Mexican day " and serving Mexican food, that's what to expect. Got my wife the steak fajitas, the meat was like rubber, we let the dog eat it. She enjoyed, but then again she also eats goose turds, so ....... I had chorizo enchiladas, by old El Paso kit, it has more flavor. If you are looking for authentic delicious Mexican food then this is the spot for you. The pork fajitas are seasoned perfectly and cooked in sauteed unions. My kids shared the chicken quesadillas and there was not a lick leftover. The shrimp burrito was hearty and delicious and I loved the green hot sauce that came on the side. The nachos supreme was smothered in guacamole, sour creme, cheese and beans and the chips were crispy with a nice salty crunch. They included two free sides that consisted of guac, lettuce, and sour creme. The food was ready in fifteen minutes as promised. The shop itself is stocked with Mexican spices, specialty food items, and classic Mexican drinks. There is no seating, this is a Mexican takeout kitchen. We don't eat out that often and Cilantro's will make our short list. read more

MEDIOCRE FOOD, TERRIBLE ATTITUDE. I enjoy a good burrito just like anyone. Their food isn't terrible. A bit overpriced but so is everything in the area. The problem I have is their ATTITUDE SUCKS! I've been going here for years and I've not had one experience where I did not felt that I was somehow interrupting phone game time. Like when they look up at you with "what" in their eyes. Is this not a business? Do you not serve food? Should I go somewhere else? (Yes. Yes. HELL YES.) The worst part of it all is they know how to **mess up an order** and they will somehow tell you it's your fault despite you seeing them write it down. I had received the wrong order and was told repeatedly "that's what you ordered". I insisted the cashier go in to the kitchen and pull the slip. Once he realized he had correctly written what I ordered but had given me the wrong order and an attitude, I basically got "what do you want me to do about it". While taking a stroll through Sag Harbor, I suddenly get the hunger for some Mexican food. Cilantro looked like a pretty decent divey place nearby off the beaten path, so I took a drive over. The place is located on the corner in what resembles a New York City bodega.. but cleaner. With some Mexican essentials being sold on the shelfs, I knew I was at the right place. The young man behind the counter took my order. Behind him was the kitchen with people cooking and a menu above. I saw a sign written in chalk as well which started with carne asada, I asked what the difference was between that and the steak dinner entree, he stated it was exactly the same thing except the carne asada was all put together as opposed to the dinner entree was all plated separately. (Picture Posted). I opted for the Carne. 15 Minutes later I get my food and let me say it was a large portion, and smelled great. It came with rice, beans, pico de gallo, a salad, and ofcourse the steak. Let me start with what I DISLIKED. The Steak was fatty and very chewy, the veggies were hard and tasteless, the avocado was also not ripe and tasteless. When I asked the guy where the guac was since he said it was the same as the dinner entree, he said "oh, sorry, i thought u meant avocado." I was looking forward to trying the quac, thanks. The plate cost me over $14 after taxes, meh. I had to cut a quarter of the steak off because it was too fatty. What I LIKED. The place looked clean. Although the steak was fatty, it was seasoned really well. The rice was also very flavorful. I chased the meal down with a Bruce Cost Ginger Ale. I would have appreciated if I got quac, and a better steak. I am aware that I am complaining about a $14 mexican meal from a sag harbor bodega, but Ive had better steak and rice dishes at my local tex-mex back in Queens for under $10. Would I come here again? yes. Would I recommend this place to someone? only if they are looking for a bite on the run. Would I come back again? Possibly, but maybe choose the chicken this time around. Oh.. Right.. I almost forgot. Seems that quality shifts a lot depending on the month/week... recent burritos (we shared chorizo and shrimp) were not as good. The chorizo gave us stomach pain; the shrimp one was fresh but taste was beliw average. The beans overpowered shrimp. More greens and less cheese could make this better perhaps. read more

If I could do 3.5 stars I would but I'm putting down 3. I didn't really care for the rice being that it was a little bland. But my fajitas were very good and the beans were delicious!! My brother said that is steak quesadilla was great and my mom had a solid amount of vegetarian options. I personally wish that we didn't go for lunch and instead went for dinner being that the food was very heavy. Conveniently located in town right next to Saint Andrew's Church, Cilantro's is a small takeout and grocery store that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. While there is a small counter area that you can eat at, there is no seating, so this is definitely a to-go venue. Cilantro's menu offers Tex-Mex and Mexican dishes, all freshly prepared to order. I'm not a huge Tex-Mex fan, but I love love love Mexican food. One of the great tragedies about the NYC (and vicinity) dining scene is a dearth of authentic Mexican cuisine (read: tacos without cheese or sour cream, which if added just scream 'gringo' in a foam-parties-in-Cancun kinda way). I usually opt for the shrimp tacos and some simple chips, guacamole and salsa. The food is carefully prepared and outstanding. Corn tortillas taste fresh and not at all greasy and the shrimp is marinated just right and grilled to perfection. Guacamole is chunky and with perfectly ripe fruit, with the perfect amount of salt. While a touch pricey for Mexican food (although not for the Hamptons), portions are enormous. For $12 you get three stuffed tacos with salad or rice and beans - easily shareable as a quick lunch. They also have fajitas, chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, etc. Feeling in a DIY mood? You can get hard-to-find mexican ingredients that haven't gone 'mainstream' yet. This includes cholula, tapatio and valentina hot sauce, masa (for tortillas), pre-made tortillas, chiles and a host of Mexican spices etc. The observation that about half the clientele is latin is a sign that these guys are on to something. Come here to try something different. read more

My and my coworkers went back here to get some burritos which have always come with a SIDE of rice and beans plus the burrito itself. As we opened up the bag of food the sides were missing. I called them to let them know that they forget and the guy had the worst attitude claiming that they don't come with sides. He then proceeds to show off that he's been there for 7 years when my coworker has been going there for 8. Overall horrible attitude to their customers and will definitely not be going back again.
