Decided to order our anniversary dinner for takeout from here. I placed the order with a delivery service around 4:30 in the afternoon. I received a text from the delivery driver that the restaurant claimed they were busy and therefore my order would be delayed about 10 minutes so she would wait. It wasn't a problem which I reiterated to the driver but after 20 minutes I received another notification that my order had been canceled. I called the restaurant immediately and the person over the phone was incredibly rude. She said that the restaurant was very busy and backed up and that DoorDash had canceled the order while whispering to someone in the background. As soon as I hung up the phone with them I received a phone call from DoorDash who told me that it was in fact the restaurant that canceled my order, saying that it couldn't be fulfilled because they were too busy. In total I waited over an hour and ended up with nothing to eat. We've ordered from here about a dozen times and have always been more than understanding with long wait times but honestly the fact that they couldn't even bear to apologize or do anything more than laugh over the phone was super unprofessional and uncalled for. $32 for a skirt steak is nothing I'm really going to miss but the principle of it and the fact that nobody ever wants to hold restaurants like this accountable to their customers is the frustrating part. So I'll leave this review and nobody from the restaurant will do anything to make it right but maybe it will serve as a warning that when this place gets busy they'll just cancel your order after making you pay and wait for it. read more

Came to Cinco De Mayo on a Saturday night with a party of 4. The restaurant is pretty tiny and subsequently, it was super packed. I called ahead to make sure they had a table for us. The margaritas and the guacamole were all missing lime. We asked for some lime slices to try to squeeze into the margs, but the ones we were brought had like one single droplet of juice in them. Maybe there is a lime shortage. For dinner I had the camarones chory, which were good and obviously ate some of my partner's fish tacos, which were honestly just alright. Maybe we need to try some other options in the future but as a pescetarian, the menu is pretty limited. The options for vegetarians are basically non-existent. You're kind of limited to cheese things like enchiladas, a guacamole burrito, or vegetable fajitas. The black beans are not vegetarian, but the refried beans are. Interestingly, EVERYTHING on the menu is essentially the same too-high price of $21.95. For a few fish tacos, that's literal insanity. Two margaritas and one entree per person for 4 people equated to a $200+ bill at the end of the night. To soften the blow, they sent over tequila shots, free quesadilla appetizers, chips and salsa, and desserts... but even with all of that, it was still quite overpriced for alright Mexican food. read more

Cinco de Mayo is off the beaten path but well worth it! I came here to celebrate my birthday because nothing is better than a birthday complimented by margaritas! The Margaritas were fresh and delicious! I ordered the tampiquena poblana and my husband got the #1 combo (both are pictured). The portions were huge!! We ordered guacamole as an appetizer- it was delicious! They also gave us a free quesadilla (each) AND a banana chimichanga (each) for dessert! I hadn't even told them it was my birthday yet!! Once I told them they even offered a free shot of tequila!! I declined, however, because I had already had 2 delicious classic margaritas. This restaurant had such wonderful, attentive service and food!! We will certainly return and I recommend you try it out!! read more

What the heck happened to this place?! Went on three other occasions and loved it but today was some of the worst food I have ever eaten! I started with a margarita , just so bad had an odd smell almost like opening a box of bandaids ! The taste was even worse ! Like cheap store mix. I started in on the comp chips, stale as heck! I settled on a veggie taco with cheese and told them not to put any meat or beans with meat. What came to me was pure garbage. The taco shells were so laden with grease they were completely soggy and I couldn't hold them. There was no cheese or pico only a disgusting soggy mess of 90% onion a few peppers and one mushroom floating. I left most of it . The rice tasted microwaved . And let's not forgot after staring I was a vegetarian they served me refried beans laden with animal fat. That will be the last time I go there. So disappointing don't waste your money read more

Had a great experience at Cinco de Mayo. Food was good. Some of the best guacamole I have had, super fresh. Their chips and salsa are quite good too a tad spicy yet my 7 year old was hooked on them. I want to speak on the service it was exceptional. I really hope the owner/ manager recognize their team as good service is hard to find. read more

Short version: pricey and unsatisfying. Longer version: we loved takeout from Cinco de Mayo when we lived about 10 minutes closer to it, which was about 4 years ago now. We raved about it to everybody. Every meal ordered was enough for leftovers and completely satisfying. Tonight we ordered delivery for the first time in about 3 or 4 years. For $21 I got chicken mole poblano, $21 was my wife's shrimp entree, and we added on an 18% tip ordering through GrubHub. We were very disappointed in what we received. The chicken mole was two chicken breast pieces pounded very flat, and the sauce was super oily. It was not thick and did not sit atop the chicken, it ran down the side and pooled under and around. My wife's shrimp entree was 5 decent sized shrimp in a container of sauce (oil, garlic, butter). Neither meal was sufficient to be dinner + leftovers. The rice and beans on the side were lacking flavor - except for the cheese on the beans - and the side salad was made of shredded iceberg lettuce with some veggies. (The fresh veggies were the highlight of the meal) I want to try ordering again once the pandemic has calmed down, as I'm hoping this is the result of streamlining their business for delivery demands. If not, then either the standards in place have slipped ... or we were far too nostalgic about what the food was "back in the day" ... or we've simply had better food more recently and our tastes have changed. We were hoping for a meal that reminded us why we used to frequently order from Cinco de Mayo. Instead, we got a meal that reminded us why we like other restaurants we've ordered from in the last few years. Blah. We really wanted to like it and we're not happy about writing a 2 star review, but for $55 and a lackluster dinner experience, that's where we are. read more

Maybe we caught this place on a bad night. Nice wait staff, just not enough for the crowd. Manhattan prices, too bad. Food was nothing special. You need fans under that plastic awning, we had mosquitoes circling us during dinner. Also get some tablecloths or paper on the tables, especially the steel grate tables we ate on. This was a solid choice for a Mexican restaurant! It was a beautiful day so the outdoor space was great. A little noisy because it's on a main road but that wasn't much of a problem. I had a strawberry margarita and combination platter that had one chicken enchilada, one beef burrito and one beef taco. All of it was flavorful, I really liked the rice and refried beans that it came with (covered in melted cheese). Service was a little bit slow but it was probably because the patio area got packed pretty fast. I don't live too close to this restaurant but I would go back if I was in the area! read more

This is your basic " Tex Mex" style food with cheese and sauce thrown over everything. It doesnt cater to a "Mexican" clientele so the flavor is bland but its good if you wanna chill and have a marg. Small little Mexican joint around the block from my job. Visited on Friday with 5 of my coworkers for lunch. They have a lot of options which is always a good selling point and it is reasonably priced. I especially love that they bring you fresh chips and salsa as soon as you sit down at the table along with a mini cheese quesadilla appetizer to get you going. I ordered the chalupa which I got half chicken and half beef. Out came 6 little individual fried tortillas topped with chicken or beef and green or red salsa with slices of fresh avocado. The beef was definitely my favorite choice out of the two and the rice and beans that came along with the dish were delicious as well. After only being able to finish half I had to call it quits, my stomach was full and happy. I really liked the free dessert that they served us as well. A tortilla wrapped around a piece of banana and deep fried to a nice golden brown, drizzled with honey and topped with whipped cream. Literally the perfect ending to a great lunch. I had dinner here last night and loved it! The atmosphere is so homey and welcoming. It has a very authentic Mexican restaurant feel. There are two rooms of tables, so even though we didn't have a reservation on a Friday night we were able to be seated right away. The staff was so friendly and nice. They immediately took our drink orders and brought us chips, salsa, and quesadillas on the house. We ordered the guac made table-side and it was was fresh and delicious. The portion was a little small but fine for the two of us. I had the number 5 combo for my entree which was a beef taco, Chile relleno, and enchilada with rice and baked beans, all for $14.95. It was great, and the price was very fair for the big portion. At the end of the night they offered us pineapple infused tequila shots on the house.
