Did they sell? We've been going here for many years. Due to the pandemic, we haven't been here in a while. We ordered through Door Dash, and the food was so different. Out of 5 meals, the only one that liked their food bought guacamole and chips. My meal specifically, was chicken fajitas. It was one piece of chicken and was not cut thin, nor were the peppers. As a matter of fact, there were no onions and there were mushrooms in it. I have had another dish, Juanita's chicken many times, and I swear it was someone's left overs! Or maybe a mistake, and they used it instead of making it fresh. I was so disappointed. Cute little local restaurant with festive interior and very attentive staff. That being said...the food and beverage quality are terrible! We ordered margaritas and they were awful. Made from bottled mix, they smelled like cleaning fluid and tasted equally as bad. For the price they should have been made from scratch. The menu is pretty lengthy, but the dishes we ordered all seemed pretty similar. The rice was dried out and tasteless and the beans could very well have been served out of a can. The entire meal included chips and salsa and a for each of us a tortilla w/ cheese to start and half of a pan fried banana at the end which was a nice touch, but equally tasteless. I would equate the food to MacDonald's quality food at almost $$$ prices. So disappointed. read more

It's been a long time since we were last here. The food is decent, and the pitcher of margaritas are great. I noticed they just got all new furniture which is nice to see. I also noticed they raised their prices, not surprised with the cost of everything going up. I ordered the Naco Platter which was pork in a green sauce, breaded fried steak, and shrimp in a white sauce. The sauces were very good, but the pork was very tough. What was most disappointing is that they only give ONE shrimp. After eating my one shrimp, I wished I had a few more. I thought this was a platter, not a sampler. They have a huge menu and the portions are gigantic! They serve great drinks and the beer is always super cold. I love their strawberry frozen margaritas! Some nights they even have a mariachi band. This is my go to Mexican restaurant. They are offering indoor and outdoor dining now. Large portions and friendly staff. I usually get one of the combo platters. Which are great. But this time I tried the MOLCAJETE SPECIAL. It is awesome! It is a sizzling hot lava bowl filled with steak, shrimp, steak, chorizo with an incredible cheese sauce. Great reviews. I ordered steak tacos with rice & beans. This is usually my go to dish at a new Mexican restaurant that I've never been to....especially if a place looks authentic. Cinco De Mayo looks authentic alright! Not exactly a hole in the wall, but its layout and style is very similar to the Mexican restaurants I go to in Sunset Park (Bklyn, NY). I was disappointed with my tacos. First, it was ground beef. Not chunky cuts of meat. Second, the tortilla was hard shell (Identical to the ones I purchase at Costco!!!!). Third, the layout on the plate was horrible. Three tacos in the middle of the plate. Rice on one side and beans (smothered with cheese) on the other side. Can you guess what happens when the liquid from the beans saturate their way onto the crunchy, non-authentic tacos? That's right....not only does it gets soggy, but it it falls apart completely. I guess people around Butler, NJ don't know what real Mexican food is. Had I wanted this style of tacos, I would've gone to the local Taco Bell! I think I'll just stick around Dover, NJ for my taco needs. Price for this dish was $12. Not worth it at all. read more

We called to make a reservation because we had never been here before and it was Saturday night at 7:30pm. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a friendly guy behind the small corner bar. We told him we made reservations and he had our table waiting for us. There are about 8 tables in the back main dining area, and about 4 in a smaller separate area near the entrance. As soon as we sat down we were brought chips and chunky fresh salsa. When the other couple we were meeting walked in, the same guy immediately asked if they were part of our party and walked them over to us. A+ for service. As soon as they arrived, we were each brought a free cheese quesadilla appetizer ( on top of the free chips and salsa.) They do not have a drink menu but make drinks to order. Margarita on the rocks with salt was exceptional, and the bartender/ greeter/ server sold us each on two more- and they are STRONG! The amount of food brought was exceptional. We all ate our hearts out with huge platters of food, priced inexpensively for the quantity that you get! The decor is kindof cute/ traditional/ bordering tacky but not overkill. Between the stellar service, great drinks and all the leftovers, this is easily one of my new favorite restaurants. You won't be disappointed. read more

What an awesome hidden little gem! While having a random craving for Mexican food, I found this place on Yelp. Upon pulling up to the restaurant, it seemed a little questionable but this was the perfect example of why you should not judge a book by its cover. It almost feels like you're on vacation when you go inside, with its décor and cute little bar. The strawberry margarita was perfect. They give you complimentary chips and salsa and a cheese quesadilla as soon as you sit down. I had the chicken flautas, which were so good that I cleared my whole plate (which I never do)! The server was very attentive and even gave us tequila shots on the house! I really liked this place, and was so glad to find such a great spot close to where I live to come back to. What can I say? I'm German but my stomach is all Mexican. I am a Mexican food enthusiast so much that I believe my mother had a one night stand in Mexico resulting to having me. When asked "what do you want to eat?" I don't even have to say anything before my significant other realizes there is no question because Mexican food will be my answer. I have been to a lot of Mexican places, indies and chains. I happened to be in the area and we had gotten hungry, so I googled places around and found this little gem. This is the type of place you will drive 100 miles out of the way just to go back. The outside of the place does look a little bad, but from someone who has ate out of Mexican trucks before, I never judge. Upon entering, we were the only people there besides the staff (it was a Sunday), but compared to the outside, the inside was beautiful and clean. Walls, tables, the bar, everything nicely done in everything Mexican. We were immediately served tortilla chips and salsa. So fresh, so yummy, unlike other places where they serve stale chips and salsa out of a jar of Ortega. 2 minutes later the cook comes out and gives us these tortillas with amazing melted cheese inside, its like they knew how much I loved Mexican and cheese (so much my stomach never knows what to do in the bathroom). They have a full bar and a great selection of Mexican beers. When our food had arrived this was the moment for me, the moment of truth. The tacos beef was naturally seasoned, unlike some places where their seasonings come out of a packet as if they were ramen noodles. The chimi and burrito were just made for perfection while the beans and rice couldn't be more heavenly. The guac...omg the guac... I have never had such fresh guacamole in my life. Then it came time to say goodbye as my stomach was getting heavier, we asked for the check and not only did the lovely woman bring the check....complimentary dessert came with it. My 8th grade Spanish class never covered how to say "I love you" in their language. Overall, I do NOT understand how this place isn't packed every day. Great authentic Mexican. Its kind of in an over standing town where someone with any type of unique appearance will get stared and pointed at. But I would defiantly go out of my way to come back. read more

This has to be the worst customer service I've experienced in my life. I came here a few months ago for take out and was helped by a very rude waitress. The hassle was not worst the over priced mediocre food. Nevertheless, We decided to give them another shot, this time ordering through DoorDash. This was even worse than the last time. Our order was not detailed on DoorDash and we needed to make some changes but when we called the restaurant, the staff was very disregarding and unhelpful. We called 20 times in which we were hung up on, left on hold and completely ignored. We even waited a few minutes because they were avoiding our calls in which they finally answered only to say our order was already made. It was very unprofessional and one of the worst customer service I have ever received. Would not recommend for takeout or DoorDash. read more

First all of the staff are amazing and helpful. Everyone was at our table making sure we had everything we needed. Second the margaritas are amazing! This has become a new favorite haunt for me. It is the best Mexican food in the area that also serves cocktails. It's been clean and quiet most of the evenings I'm there and there is outside dining. We really enjoy the food here. I would give 4 or 5 stars for it. It's pretty costly though, especially if you order drinks. The service is what's really lacking though. Staff aren't friendly. They aren't consistent. Sometimes they will give complimentary food/drink (quesadillas or shots) sometimes they won't. I've also had my orders messed up (both dine and take out) and both times when I kindly asked for it to be fixed I was given an attitude and told that it's what I ordered. First off this is not authentic Mexican food if you think it is then you clearly never had authentic Mexican food. Their food is overpriced I couldn't even finish my tacos because they were hard shell tacos, hence why it's not authentic Mexican, they were falling apart and completely flavorless. You would think if you're paying $13 for three little tacos you would think they would be seasoned and with at least Pico if it's going to be Americanized, the beans were gross it look like it was straight out of a can. I'm really disappointed and I hope no one actually goes here, there are plenty of other Mexican restaurants that have delicious food and it's authentic Mexican tacos. I do not recommend this place what's so ever yes they may give you free chips and salsa but so does Moe's. Taco Bell's crunch wrap supreme has more flavor than this food.
