Cinco De Mayo has become our regular post game lunch spot during the basketball rec season in Clayton! The food is pretty good - the little one swears their soft tacos and Spanish rice are "The Best he's ever had" but then sometimes I wonder if it's just his stomach talking! They open early and are at a convenient location along the way home so it's hard to avoid for lunch when the kid is so hungry after running the courts. It's a small spot but cozy and the ladies that work there are so nice and friendly. They are also fast in getting the good out. My only real complaint is there's no restroom! So if you dine in you better hope you don't have to go! And if you do... well, there is a Starbucks nearby so grab a coffee and use their bathroom! If you're worried about not being able to wash your hands before you eat there is hand sanitizer in there. read more

Place has been here for a bit and I remember going here frequently until we moved across town. Now we are back in the neighborhood and it is still solid and reliable as it used to be. Consistent and great tasting food is why I used to frequent this establishment. I had ordered a few things for the family for takeout and the gals were friendly and helpful. I had ordered a Chicken. ***3.5 Stars*** A solid option for fast casual Mexican cuisine. If you know me, you know I love me some Mexican food. Especially when it's good and cheeeaap! Mm hmm. Concord has a TON of wonderful taquerias and I'm on a mission to try them all. Literally. Came here for a quick dinner about a month ago and this little place definitely hit the spot. They have a cute little outdoor patio area setup in front of their building. Since it was a nice day out, decided to dine outside. There's no table service here and they're still using to-go containers whether you dine there or take it to go. They are still closed for indoor dining (it's a tiny space, so it'll probably be a while before that happens any time soon). Their menu is pretty simple but still full of most Mexican food faves. I came here for the crispy tacos. I've been in search of a replacement crispy taco spot ever since the last taqueria that I used to frequent for them let me down hard. Ordered at the counter and the ladies were really pleasant. One thing to note is that they charge a fee if you're paying with your card, and I believe that this is regardless of how much you spend. Womp womp. But honestly, it's not that bad. Plus, they give you free chips and salsa and I'm ALL about that life. And, they're actually really yummy too. All of their salsas are pretty bomb, but my favorite so far is their hot red salsa. It has a wonderful kick to it. Price-wise, I'd say that they're pretty on par with the other taquerias in the neighborhood. So about those tacos; me likey... me likey a lot! They were beautifully deep fried and stuffed with fresh lettuce and cheese. Also really enjoyed the crunch factor. I ordered them with chicken. While the chicken wasn't the most flavorful that I've ever had, the meat was pretty juicy. The only thing that was missing was all of the other condiments that you'd typically find on crispy tacos. You know... sour cream, pico de gallo, and even just plain tomatoes. They only serve their crispy tacos with cheese and lettuce. Hmmm. Def need more than that on my tacos, but they were still yummy nonetheless. The beans and rice were both very flavorful and they tasted authentic. Portions were adequate for the price. Also had their horchata and is tasted perfect. You can definitely tell that it's homemade. There's tons of parking since this taqueria is located in a large shopping complex with several other businesses. Cinco De Mayo is actually a small taqueria chain that has a few other locations in both Martinez and Concord. This was my first time ever trying them, and I would definitely come back again if I was in the area. To feed the crew who helped me move, i ordered 5 burritos, 5 drinks and a small salsa and chips. Total and i signed for an $88.50 tab and when i went to check my credit card statement i was charged $98.50. Just came in for a quick bite and kept it simple - carnitas soft tacos and shrimp soft tacos. The carnitas tacos were on small corn tortillas, so more in line with street tacos. Just some onion and cilantro and a squeeze of lime and they were good to go. Pretty juicy so get some napkins. The shrimp tacos were a little bigger and had this chipotle sauce and cabbage - very good. I am looking forward to trying some other items. read more

I have gone here since 2007/08 of course prices went up everything has gone up. As far as down hill....not at all This place has gone up. It was always a good place but the last few years we frequent cinco at least once a week. Food is always hot. and good. I prefer the grilled chicken as my meat here. Chile relleno is good, wet burrito has been my go to lately. But I always recommend the grilled chicken taco at least 4! We also get the Al pastor a lot as well. Rice and beans are always consistent. I always order my burritos without beans and they fill my burritos with plenty of meat and not skimp since I order no beans and I love that. The ladies are never rude to us they are always sweet and food is served up fairly quick. The girl at the front is always nice and We even joke because they recognize us being regulars. Each thing that came out looked so amazing and everyone said it all tasted great. A little tricky though on the menu under sides it's a side of rice OR beans for 2.50 not both for 2.50. So wish this was a little more clear since they usually come together. I got the rice and beans with a vegetarian burrito. The burrito included rice beans cheese lettuce sour cream and guacamole. I love how this came with guacamole and wasn't something you just got on the side. It made the burrito worth it. You also get a side of chips and salsa with your order. The mild salsa is still pretty spicy but it was ok. I really enjoyed my food and so did my family. My burrito was so big it fed me my leftovers for dinner that night. read more

Okay, I hate to write a negative review during such a difficult time. But this has to be shared. First off, I have been a patron to Cinco De Mayo for over 6 years. We usually are in Martinez and regularly (I MEAN REGULARLY) eat at Center and Pacheco establishments. I was in Concord and swung through this restaurant thinking I would get the same consistency and pricing. BUYER BEWARE! We usually purchase Super BCR's. Every other location we have been to the price is $3.95. So typically $8 and tax for two burritos. This location I about fell over when she said 16.96 for my total!! I might as well have ordered a meat burrito. I brushed it off and thought, oh well. I am helping a local establishment during difficult times and left a tip as well. Once home my husbands burrito had a 20" long hair inside of it that also had something strange connected to it that looked fuzzy. Then once opening to inspect it, the ENTIRE BURRITO was rice. Just a small smear of beans and then loaded with rice, for $8.00!!!! Oh and not to mention that both our burritos were dripping in grease. Yuck!!!! I won't visit this location again. I always get the burritos, and they're pretty decent. Like most places they dont really spread out the ingredients very well so you have 3 separate bites of beans, meat, and rice. But that's pretty normal. However, today I strayed from my usual and got 3 hard chicken tacos. They have absolutely NO FLAVOR. The chicken is not marinated at all, only boiled.
