I dined in at Cinco De Mayo Mexican Grill with two friends for lunch on a Thursday. Our server was nice and quickly brought out our drink orders, chips and salsa. It was my first time trying them out, so I opted for a lunch special, since they were pretty affordable. The beef quesadilla came with rice and pinto beans. It did not have any toppings included except for the cheese and meat, so I requested tomato and lettuce and the server brought it out on a plate with shredded cheese (white). The flavors were good. The beef was seasoned well. The free chips and salsa were fresh, although the salsa needed a touch of salt. Not too spicy but good. I liked my food. There was an up charge of $2.50 to add the toppings to my quesadilla, and I was okay with it because it made the quesadilla taste a little better in my opinion. :) Overall, the food was good and I would go back again for lunch if in this area. read more

Bad attitude and even worse food. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas, and they were overloaded with onions and soft, overripe mushrooms. There were virtually no fresh vegetables, making the dish unappetizing. When I asked to speak with the manager, she responded with an equally disappointing attitude instead of addressing the issue. I attempted to use the restroom before heading to the bar for a refresher. I was confronted by admin about my purpose for being there. She said that this is not a public restroom. I apologized for visiting and left. She made me feel unwelcome. It really hurt to be looked at like trash. Never made it to the table to sample any of their food or beverages. I knew I found a true gem when I asked for a pitcher of their Texas margarita and in my peripheral, saw the waitress pour a whole bottle of tequila in it. You couldn't tell from looking at me (or maybe you could), but I was screaming on the inside because BAAAAYYYBEEEE! I was ready! My husband and I decided to shut down early on a Friday night and head to Fin and Feathers for Happy Hour. We had never been but I knew that they had happy hour specials every week. So we threw on some clothes, headed over and saw the sign that pointed out their dress code. We were dressed in athleisure wear, so clearly not appropriate based on the notice we saw. So I suggested that we go next door to the Mexican restaurant and check them out. We sat at the bar because we needed time to do our Yelp review research before ordering actual food lol I came across a review that mentioned their margarita pitchers so I decided to order that for us and some street tacos. I ordered the margarita first though since they served complimentary chips and salsa. The pitcher comes and immediately we fell in love! It was so good and strong, I can't see how anyone would order a single drink if you're eating with a group. Just get a pitcher, and you'll save a whole lot more. I ordered a bunch of different tacos which wasn't an option on their menu so the waitress worked with us in pricing everything accordingly. I don't care for restaurants that only have tacos as a meal with rice and beans on the side. Like seriously? Just bring me some tacos and call it a day! And on a corn tortilla, leave that flour mess in the back...ugh The tacos came out EXACTLY like we wanted! And because of that, we were able to sit at the bar and enjoy our margaritas and tacos while laughing and watching the draft. It was a perfect Friday afternoon. I will point out that while they did venture off of the menu for us with the tacos, AND she completely made sure our margarita was filled appropriately - I was disappointed that they didn't have any Happy Hour specials. I mean there is a restaurant 2 doors down with specials every night, why not compete? Maybe they are trying to keep it family friendly, but a HH with $2 tacos and $5 margaritas or something might be enough to get folks' attention. We left a very generous tip simply because the food was good and our total bill was less than $40 but I'd be back every week if they had specials like that. It took a bit of time to figure out the taco situation, either make it a menu item or throw it as a HH special. read more

Went here after work last night with hubby. We wanted drinks and it was close to the house. Arrived around 8 and got seated right away. Order a pitcher of the Texas Top Shelf Magarita. We also ordered super nachos minus the beans and guacamole and 2 shrimp tacos. Nachos were ok and shrimp tacos were good yet plain. Margarita was a bit watered down but hey it did it's job after we added shots of tequila lol. Service however was great. I'm sure I would return one day if I'm in the mood. Stopped in the area for the night and wanted to give it a try. The chips and salsa were fresh, the food was DELICIOUS. I got a chimichanga and although it was deep fried it didn't have an ounce of grease. Everything tasted amazing and our waiter was so kind and attentive. I have a good buddy that lives in Douglasville and might have eaten at this place more frequently than anyone else on the planet, so do use this review seriously. Him and his family are regulars (a few times a week) and have tried everything on the menu. Cinco De Mayo is the slightly better than average, budget friendly, Mexican food that's as close as you can get to being in Mexico, while in West Georgia. A lot of people who eat here love it or hate it, not because of the food, rather than service. The entire wait staff has a unique personality and tries to liven up the experience by showing guests with jokes and what some would consider snide remarks, but the more you come here the more you realize they are simply trying to enjoy their time with customers. For example, one of them will come over and ask what you want to drink and after taking the order, he'll respond by letting you know the drinks are behind the counter if you want them. Or something like this, "Oh, did you need more chips? Then, why didn't you go get them?" Keep in mind, they are kidding. Teasing. Enjoying their job. They are also very prompt to bring you more chips or a refill right after. They aren't being jerks, rather showing humor and personality to the experience. Engage in banter with them and this will become your local hangout. This place does a good job delivering average Mexican on a consistent basis. You can go in there and order a chicken enchilada today, tomorrow and six months from now and it always rates the same. Their chicken is cooked with peppers, tomatoes, onions, etc, so it always has flavor in it. The chicken soup is even good. You guessed it chicken is the best item on the menu. They tamales, on the other hand, are just average. Nothing stands out about them. However, their Mexican guacamole is as good as many of us have had in Mexico. The chips and salsa, however, is just average. On a positive note, since they expanded a few years ago, you can always get a table and they also have affordable drinks and meals that won't burn a hole in your pocket. This is a good place to bring the family for dinner and keep in mind, it's one of few places around with a quality Sunday buffet. Unlike the Golden Corral (I won't eat here) all the food on the buffet is made from scratch and tastes the same from the buffet as it would if you ordered it on a Tuesday night. read more

This is your stereotypical Americanized version of a Mexican restaurant. Was honestly surprised at the sheer size of the location. Lots of different levels and rooms setup more like a sports bar than a Mexican restaurant. Menu here was vast, as in several pages of dishes. Pros: the pork carnitas blew my mind. Ultra tender and juicy, bursting with flavor. Their Texas cheese dip with shrimp, beef, and chorizo was outstanding as well. Massive portions of meats and not so Texas on the price. Cons: While the server was exceptionally engaging, there were no return visits for refills on beverages, chips, salsa, etc. We literally had to get up to go find someone. Odd for a prime time Saturday night. We only ended up here because the Hibachi place across the street had an hour wait. Here, not so much. Could easily have given this three stars had the service existed. Food good, service and location leave something to be desired. read more

This restaurant was okay. Not great. The food was a little greasy. The building appears to be large, but the vast kitchen area limits the dining area - probably because it was an old steakhouse and needed a larger kitchen. This makes for some cozy quarters - though with all the screaming kids and TVs, cozy hardly seems appropriate. Speaking of the TVs, it seems like they outnumber the patrons. And with one showing NASCAR, 4 football games, Sabado Gigante and SpongeBob, the noise was overbearing. The patrons do their best to compete with the noise, which adds to the decibel level. The food is definitely prepared to satisfy the palette of the local citizenry. It is to the best Mexican food I have had...not the worst, just okay. This is no longer on Hwy 5, It is in the strip mall down from Harbor freight. I ate there today, and it was nice to see Lucy again! The food was as good as it was when they opened on Hwy 5. The new build out is incredible as well, I loved the new tables and booths. The bar was awesome, I wonder who built that for them. I have to re-iterate, this is the original crew. So if you ate at the Hwy 5 store the past say 2 years, I urge you to try it now with the OG peeps. The food is as good as it was in years past, and the potions are much larger. Cinco De Mayo isn't a stand-out restaurant by any stretch, but the food is good and the service is acceptable. It's a big place that has a very loyal following. Ask anyone in Douglasville (I only recently moved here from Cobb county) and they will tell you to eat here. I've eaten here about 4 times and haven't had a bad experience. I think of Cinco de Mayo as sort or a Mexican diner. You get ok food with waiter service at your table, but you pay at the front like a diner. The best time to eat here is on Sunday afternoons. They have a great buffet for a reasonable price. I forgot about it when we ate here last Sunday, and I was wondering why it was so crowded. Aside from the buffet, the food is good. Large portions and always hot. The service is a little slow, but not terrible. The restaurant isn't very clean which can be a big turn-off, but overall, it's not a dive. It's worth a try, especially on a Sunday afternoon with the kids. The food isn't overly spicy so they will like it. So will your pocketbook. read more

This place has definitely gone down hill over the past several months. We were there last week and had a terrible experience and will not be going back. The fajitas were burned to a crispy char and not in a good way. The wait staff was slow and the management made no apologies. After going on a regular basis for the last couple of years, it will be sad to say goodbye, but after getting sick the next day it simply was not worth it. Think before you eat here. read more

Found this gem at lunchtime and was so glad we did! Service is fast, the place is clean and decorated cute. I suggest that you try the lunch fajitas -the steak is tasty, tender and you get plenty of it. Also comes with grillled veg which are not greasy and floppy like some places. An avacado salad and beans and rice make this lunch huge. My chicken soup had a whole chicken in it, well maybe not, but a lot of tender chicken and tasty broth.
