Wonderful, tasty, authentic Mexican food. Great service, and very fair prices. More people in Ocean City should know about this place.

Went Yelping for some local authentic Mexican food and found Cinco de Mayo in OC. Turns out that a couple of my kids had tried it before but had forgotten about it (we don't live in OC). The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, the food was excellent, and the prices are very reasonable (for anywhere -- for Ocean City, the prices are dirt cheap and an affordable place to take your family). My kid (an adult) and I ordered tacos, a taco platter, large pico de gallo -- all for less than $22, and that includes sales tax. Oh -- complimentary homemade chips and salsa. Excellent. They do a ridiculous take-out business, too -- non-stop traffic on a day when Ocean City wasn't very crowded. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

This place is great. I had tacos al pastor and tacos with chorizo. They were served in a traditional style with diced onions and cilantro on corn tortillas. They were perfect with just a squeeze of lime. I also liked their salsa a verde, it was the right combination of bright tangy flavor and mild heat. I'm a west coast native and I've not found too many places out here that serve authentic traditional style tacos, much less places that have al pastor or chilaquiles. I will be back (probably several times through the week), they're just off the boardwalk and their prices can't be beat. read more

We had a party of 7. We asked the staff to combine two tables to accommodate us. They looked at us as if we were from Mars. We waited outside for 20 minutes as there is no room to wait in the tiny place(neighborhood is not the best). During that time several other parties were seated Anyway we were finally seated and despite having 2 window air conditioning units going it was very hot inside. The server was very friendly and brought chips and salsa out-but the sauces, while good had no chunks of veggies. Our table had fish, burritos, fajitas, and hot wings. The fish was very fresh(came head on) and the food was very good! Portions were a good size. If the experience and atmosphere were a bit better this would be a 4 for sure. read more

This place is great! authentic, homemade food and fast, pleasant service. fresh...spicy, compared to other mexican in the area. a steady stream of people. people know its good here and the price is right. skip the boardwalk taco and other so-called Jersey mexican (really?) and have a sit down, real mexican meal. The food here is REALLY good. Service not so much. (Very slow, we had to ask for chips... then had to ask for salsa separately.) I often worry about finding somewhere to eat down the shore because my husband and I are vegan and there are not a lot of options. We ended up getting the vegetarian burritos without cheese and sour cream. Delicious. (Though we were only given the tiniest little blob of guacamole. Disappointing.) The problem started after we got home. Sparing you the details, I think the burrito gave me food poisoning. It was really good so I'd consider giving it another try because fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you, burrito. read more

BUYER BEWARE! When we arrived it was a bit slow for 5PM ON A Wednesday. There were 7 of us we asked to push 2 tables together so we could sit together. The waitress said I don't think so? Much to my amazement, she wanted to seat us on different parts of the restaurant, my wife then said if we can't sit together we will go somewhere else, the waitress said, do what you need to do we don't put tables together, after I got my wife to calm down, we got to sit across from each other because a man saw what was going on and offered to move. We ordered our food about 10 minutes after the ordeal some other large parties started to come in and another waitress started pushing tables together for them to sit together, I had to hold my wife down, who was now ready to go off and make a scene. We finally get through our average meal, ask for the check, the waitress said to me, for this table or both tables, I said, that table will take there's, and we will take ours......here is where it gets UGLY, the waitress brings over 1 check for both tables and tries to stick a 15% auto gratuity on the check, check just said $80.53 with no detail, my wife said we needed separate checks, and the waitress said we don't do that, my wife said, you made us sit in 2 tables, you are giving us separate checks, after a 10 minute argument, she finally gave us with separate checks, with extra money added on to it, she again tried to rip us off. We finally picked up a menu, added the prices, added the tax and paid the waitress what she was owed minus any tip My tip to everyone stay away from this place at all cost, if you really what Mexican food and eat there check your bill read more

MY absolute FAVORITE restaurant on the island in season and off season! My fave is the carne asada platter or maybe carne asada tacos either way the steak is off the charts for mexican style food! The salsa and chips are complimentary and always good to ease the initial "starvation". The flan is as good as it gets, dense, sweet with just the right amount of caramel sauce. And the servers are so friendly and responsive! An excellent little restaurant, when you walk in, you see a very small set of tables to your right and a small kitchen with the cooks packed in working frantically to get the orders out. The place is family owned and operated (good to see), our waitress was one of the daughters. The usual chips and salsa get set out with a smoky hot salsa rojo and a citrusy, bright salsa verde - both are excellent. The nachos were solid - fresh guacamole, queso fresco, carne asada, black bean frijoles and crema top the chips in a majestic pile. My daughter had the carne asada quesadilla on homemade corn tortillas instead of the flour, topped with queso fresco and lettuce - very good. My wife demolished a solid chimichanga loaded with beef and cheese. I had the asada burrito - well prepared, but there was too much tortilla and not enough stuffing in it - but it was good nonetheless (not mind-blowing but competent - it was a competent burrito). The real star was the lengua taco - beef tongue which was outstanding in a handmade corn tortilla. Chorizo taco was good, but the tongue was miles ahead. Overall, the 3 of us did some major damage to our diets for under $50 total - 3 mains, 1 large app, and side orders of tacos, 2 Diet Coke and 1 Jarritos. If you're on vacation in this area and don't want a ripoff tourist trap - try this little place. read more

Enchiladas verde and chicken fajitas were great. Watch out for the spicy sauce--it's hot!!! Call ahead and get takeout to avoid a wait.

Our family had take out from here while on vacation. Excellent food. Soft chicken tacos were VERY fresh, and chicken enchiladas were excellent, my sister said "It was like sitting in my mothwr-in-law's kitchen." (she is married to a Mexican) Definitely recommended. read more

My family and I moved from California to New Jersey and we have been out of luck finding delicious Mexican food till two summers ago. Now ever time we vacation to cape may we always find time to eat here. Please note that the food is so good therefore the wait may be a little longer then normal, my suggestion is to get an appetizer and an extra bottle of wine and stop being in a rush because it's worth it. Since when do chimichangas not have cheese sauce over them? For a Mexican restaurant, the food was extremely American. Not authentic whatsoever. With that being said, the food was pretty good and I like BYOB. read more

I don't see how anyone could give them four or five stars! The iced tea was in a bottle, not a glass. We had to request chips (twice) and salsa, which were an added charge. They did not offer queso. The tacos were average to good. The fajitas were over cooked and not seasoned at all and didn't come out sizzling. What Mexican restaurant can't cook fajitas? I could not eat it at all, so my supper consisted of plain chips with no queso. The kids chicken tenders were pretty good. Our waitress was fair, at best. No personality at all. If you are used to good Mexican food, don't eat here! As we are from Texas, maybe we are food junkies, especially with Mexican food. Thus was nothing at all like the amazing food we get at home. read more

Cinco de Mayo is our favorite Mexican restaurant in OC. Small but always seems to be a table. My daughter had the Taco Salad, I had steak burrito without tortilla and my wife Fiesta Quesadilla. Only complaint was that the Fiesta Quesadilla was too big! Can't miss with Cinco de Mayo read more

Rojo's had taken their phone off the hook by 7 pm and I couldn't find parking when I tried to go there and order in-person, so I checked Yelp and found Cinco de Mayo. I am so glad I did. This is the best Mexican takeout I have ever had. The chicken taco salad was so fresh and so delicious and the ground beef soft shelled taco was phenomenal. Rojo's lost a customer tonight as I have found my new go to Mexican place from here on out in OC. I write very few Yelp reviews as very few places blow me away enough to want to spend a few minutes writing a review but this place is so awesome that not writing a glowing review would have been unfair to anyone out there who has not yet tried this gem on West. Plus, they answer the phone, and parking on West is never an issue. read more

Ocean City has had a few great Tex Mex places for a while, but if you wanted authentic Mexican cuisine, you'd have to take a little drive. I heard about Cinco de Mayo from a little ethnic market on West Ave, and only recently decided that I really should give it a try. Well I was not disappointed at all. They have a decent sized menu filled with both familiar and unfamiliar dishes. The service staff was happy to explain the lesser known items, and was very pleasant to deal with in general. I ordered the Chilaquiles (as another yelper had rated it highly) and was not disappointed. The chicken was lightly charred, quite tender, and had an amazing flavor. As for the chips and sauce, you'd have trouble finding better salsa verde in Ocean City. If you want to eat out, they have quick takeout service, and the fact that they take credit cards can be a huge plus. I will be coming back. read more

Stayed next door to restaurant and ate the food twice in the week. We had take out orders since we were right next door. Flavors are different from most Mexican places I've tried, but overall it's good. Nachos were great. Beans were very good. My dad loved the fish taco. read more
