This review reflects two separate dining experiences during my stay at Kalahari Resorts. First Visit: (4/5 Stars) My first visit was an enjoyable experience. The service was friendly, attentive, and informative. The staff made excellent menu recommendations and ensured everything went smoothly throughout the meal. I ordered the shrimp quesadillas, which were excellent. I typically do not eat refried beans, but they were so well prepared that I finished the entire serving. Overall, it was a very positive dining experience. Second Visit: (0/5 Stars) Unfortunately, my second visit was the complete opposite. I dined with a group, and while our waitress greeted us promptly with menus and water and took our orders in a timely manner, not all of the orders were entered into the system. Some appetizers arrived within a reasonable amount of time, but our group waited over an hour for our entrées. During that time, several parties who arrived after us were served, finished their meals, and left while we were still waiting for our food. After the extended delay, I spoke with multiple staff members, including the restaurant manager and a resort manager, to inquire about the status of our meals and to express our concerns about the excessive wait. When the food finally arrived, we discovered that one of my entrées had never been entered into the system. As a result, I had to wait an additional 45 minutes for that meal to be prepared and served. I also attempted to speak with the restaurant manager, Jessica, regarding the situation. Unfortunately, while I was explaining my concerns, she walked away before the conversation was finished. I called after her in an attempt to continue the discussion, but she continued walking without acknowledging me. I found this interaction disappointing and unprofessional. The restaurant ultimately apologized to our group and generously comped our meals, which was appreciated. However, the overall experience was overshadowed by the excessive wait times, communication breakdowns, and the lack of professionalism in addressing customer concerns. Based on this experience, I believe there is significant room for improvement in communication and coordination among the kitchen staff, servers, and management. Better operational processes and stronger customer service practices would go a long way toward preventing situations like this in the future. read more

After a day at the waterpark with kids, you certainly have an appetite. Typically when you go to an amusement park area, the food options are lacking, but this place was great. When you are in the main conference area, you have multiple options for food. I was able to look at the kids menu before committing to the meal. While they offer Mexican food, they still offer burgers and chicken nuggets for the kids. I ordered the bowl with Taco beef and it hit the spot. So nice to have decent food when taking the kids somewhere fun. My husband enjoyed the enchiladas and there was plenty of spice. The waitress was quick and accommodating. Really enjoyed Cinco Nino while we stayed at Kalahari. The shrimp quesadilla was so good. I didn't care for the refried beans but everything else was so good. My daughter LOVED the shrimp tacos. She wanted to eat them everyday. The shrimp was seasoned perfectly. I couldnt say enough great things about the service. Especially Zaniyah. 7-14-25. For dining at a water park resort, this place is fine I guess. We tried the nachos, a chicken quesadilla with rice and beans, a pork burrito with rice and beans, chicken fajitas with rice and beans and the taquitos. Nothing was bad. It tasted fresh and was more then edible. It did however lack some flavor. But for being stuck at a water park, it was ok. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed and fun. read more

Nice little Tex-Mex style spot in the lobby of Kalahari resort. Casual bar and restaurant seating. Good selection of drinks for adults and kids. Decent menu. The corn dip and the taquitos are really good appetizers. No complaints with the quesadillas fajitas or the chimichanga. The chimichanga could have been fried a little more, to be crispier, so it was a little bit on the burrito side. Still it was stuffed full of chicken and rice and had different sauces on top. Service was fine, no complaints about that. Only complaint was they charged me for extra sour cream for the quesadillas... When you're charging resort prices you would think they'd be able to just give you that. read more

I visited while at Kalahari waterpark for breakfast on our first morning. We stood waiting on a hostess for a few minutes before someone spoke to us. We were sat and given menus but no one came to take an order for about 15 minutes. The table behind us that arrived after us were greeted first and their order was taken before us. So of course they were also served before us. When we finally got drinks, they were brought out by someone one different and the adult orange juice was smaller than the kids drinks. I get fresh squeezed oj is sometimes more but this was not fresh squeezed oj. Finally we get our food. Brought out by the 3rd different person we've seen. Order is wrong. They advertise coco puffs but dont sell them. They actually sell cocoa crispies (for $10). They also messed up one of my daughters orders and then tried to argue what she ordered opposed to just fixing the issue. If certain people aren't welcome just put a sign up like they used to in 60s. I would have gladly spent my money elsewhere. read more

Ok this place has good food but not great service. Drinks forever to get once they were finally ordered. We barely saw the waiter after the food arrived (and it took a while). They made a mistake and thought I said I didn't want cheese but I actually said I wanted it on the side so then they said they would bring it to me but 15 minutes later they still didn't bring it. This place went downhill. It was average 9 months ago and now it's just terrible. We got the enchiladas because they were so good last time and this time it took 40 minutes for them to come out and there was like no meat in there. It was a slurry of a little bit of meat and cheese. They apologized for the wait for the food and even brought out an extra enchilada. But that one too had barely any filling. So they didn't solve the problem. The manager didn't even come back over and ask how the food was. We told the waiter. They comped one enchilada after we asked. Server was super nice and friendly but really disappointed with the food quality and consistency, and long wait. I don't think the manager actually told the kitchen what the problem was. Or they know they are skimping. Whatever it is I now say don't come here. My nephew also said his taco looked like mystery meat and wouldn't eat it. Double cut is always booked solid, but def looks like the best food option at Kalahari since they got rid of the dinner buffet. Skip cinco ninos! read more

Went to kalahari and saw this Mexican restaurant right inside the resort . Didn't wanna drive out and decided to dine here . WAit time was about 20 mins . They had a good bar which was up until mid night . Service was soooooo slow . There was only one guy running around taking orders , service bar menu etc etc . Wish they had more employees to help. Food was on and off . Loved the fajitas . They tasted awesome . Quesadilla was average . Too much of cheese . Rice bowl was really good . This place doesn't match up to their prices. I bought the most expensive bowl and it had NO FLAVOR. The chips had no flavor, the "carne asada" had absolutely no flavor. The guac wasn't freshly made. First day in Kalahari and first spot we stepped in to get a drink after the long drive. Ambiance was chill. Quiet. Our server Edwige was very nice and helpful. The food and drinks were just aiiight. I ordered a spicy cucumber margarita and there was nothing spicy about it. It made me cringe after every sip. Decided not to drink it. Ugh The steak quesadilla wasn't anything to write home about either. Just regular smegular and not at all impressed. Could've saved ourselves $40 a piece. Waist of money and calories. read more

Had to write a review to balance some of the negative sentiment here. We were a little nervous given the Yelp reviews, but with a few nights at Kalahari, only so many places to go. I'm really glad we went as we had a great meal! Saw a lot of complaints in reviews: - "Small portions" - didn't find that to be the case - we all left stuffed! - "long waits for table / food" - not our experience at all. Excellent, friendly, and speedy service - "too expensive" - yes, slightly pricier than your local Mexican, but really reasonable given location in the lobby of a resort And the food was pretty good! Review for the Cinco Ninos inside the Kalahari resort in Poconos PA. Drinks, Appetizers, and the different Mexican food choices are all amazing. The service is super friendly and accommodating. We had a large group of about 30 ppl with kids, and visited both days we were out here for dinner. Some notable dishes to try quesadillas, burrito bowls, chips and guacamole, enchiladas and some of the tacos everything tasted great. Particularly recommend the Chill Mango Margarita. If you are at the Kalahari resort this place is a must try. I wish they had other locations where we live. read more

I was hesitant as the prior reviews are hit-and-miss but ... we had a great experience, the food or what we ordered was well-seasoned; though this may not be a true authentic Mexican restaurant it does what it has to do. The Mexican bowl was slammin' and I couldn't even finish it. The drinks are on point...I got the pomegranate margarita. The churrus were soooo good...a tad oily but close to enjoyable and we did enjoy them. The price is pricey though, I paid over $100 for 3 people (1 being a small child) Now with that said I'd go back as it's better than this other spot in East Stroudburg. read more

Note, this place does not take reservations. I have to admit that I was happy right after the dinner, although it took fooorreever for the check. Service was kind and the pricing wasn't that bad. And the food was pretty good for Scotrun, PA. We ordered the bean dip and due to the large presentation, there were like 10 chips but the waiter reassured that more chips are available if needed. I ordered the burrito and it was filled and flavorful. The rice and beans on the side were also good. Reason for the 2 star was that my wife was awoken in the middle of the night with food poisoning. She got shrimp fajitas. And I wasn't going to write a review but telling a family member about our experience, she too knew many people who got food poisoning from this restaurant when they were there for a dance competition. So hey, you are limited with food options at khalahari, and in general this place was good for a resort establishment. I would just be apprehensive of getting the fish. read more

Five of us had dinner here on a Thursday evening. The menu doesn't give you a whole lot to choose from but we were all able to find something we liked. Between the five of us we ordered chips and salsa/guac as an appetizer, Fajitas, Quesadillas, and steak. Everything was very good but the portions were pretty small for the prices. Service was attentive...we were a fun group that kept her on her toes! Fun Fact: The reason this is named "Five boys" is because the owners of the Kalahari have five boys! read more

ordered the pork carnitas burrito. It was so damn salty. what did they do, pour salt on everything. Like so salty it hurt my stomach. Then the beans were the worst, Tasted like mushy salt and MSG. Followed by the sub par rice, the rice was crunchy l, salty and had an occasional pea for some reason. Not gondulas but frozen green peas like birds eye or the green giant. idk what's wrong with this place but if you want salty Mexican food then go here to get your salt on. read more

Ok here we go! Nice atmosphere after a hour wait. Saturday night...what do u expect at 7 pm. The food was worth the wait! Stephen was an awesome, seasoned, well mannered Waiter. He knew how to serve & interact with my family and I. The menu has a very good variety of offerings and I chose the Carne Asada! Dish came out smoking hot with three warm tortillas (not enough tortillas) but it also came guacamole, shredded cheese, jalapeño peppers, rice & beans. The star of the show was the seasoned beef, peppers & onions on a sizzle platter...the flavor profile was on point! The steak was plentiful and sliced Thinly with about six to seven slices, drizzled with the Chimichurri sauce- deliciousness! The beans were seasoned very well and not too mushy, sided with the yellow rice. It was an excellent dining experience! My daughter and son had the Enchiladas and my wifey ordered the chicken bowl which was delicious and again a large portion. Everyone enjoyed their meal as well as the entire dining experience. After a four year hiatus from Kalahari we came back and had our first night's dinner at Cinco Ninos. The location is where the old B-Lux hamburger place used to be. It has an open atmosphere that's in the center of the Kalahari resort check-in and the seating encircles the bar. In terms of the food it's pretty solid, my wife got the burrito while I got the carne asada fajitas. The food was solid while the service was a bit lackluster. Quite expensive for very mediocre Mexican food. You're paying for the hotel/resort food. Salsa for the chips and salsa had a very odd flavor. The side of guac was really small and was very salty, (if my kids are even commenting on it, you know it must be). $16 for an order of 2 chicken tacos and (maybe) a small side of rice. I had a steak burrito, which was tasty but not very large. The side of rice and black beans were dry and cold. Seemed like they had been sitting out for a while and were just plopped on the plate. My daughter liked her kids taco meal, but again, $10 for 2 ground beef tacos with a tiny cup of apple sauce on the side. Of all the meals though, this one seemed like the "best deal" price-wise. On the upside, I had a spicy mango margarita and it was pretty tasty. The convenience of eating in the resort can't be beat, but the food would be beaten by pretty much anything off-site. This place was very underwhelming. We arrived at the restaurant at around 10 pm. It was the one of the only places to eat that was still open so we went inside. The place did not look bad from the outside and I thought the name was cool.The restaurant seemed pretty clean to me and did not look dirty. Our waitress was very nice, however when our food arrived it seemed as she didn't write down the request we wanted. On the nachos we asked for no jalapeños but we still got them and on my quesadilla I asked for no sauce on top but I still came with it. If you are more of a picky eater I would not recommend eating here. The food did not taste the best to me. My mom got tortilla soup and it was VERY salty, and the taco meat was very bland. If you go to kalahari I recommend you go to another restaurant. read more
