Fun find! Really cute roadside ice cream joint with a retro feel. They have an expansive menu of softserve flavors and custom sundaes, along with the usual roadside food selections (burgers, fries and the like). For me, the ice cream was just aiight and it was the totality of the experience that pushed things over the top. There is some indoor seating available, but the real magic happens out back. Assorted configurations of picnic tables, adirondack chairs, and a ton of plastic (Step2/Little Tikes/etc) playthings for the kiddos all bordering a huge green field with room to run. We happened to be coming from the playground at nearby Dufresne Park and this was the perfect end to a fun afternoon out with our toddler. We'll be back! read more

We stumbled on Cindy's- had burgers, fries, and ice cream. Everything was delicious, I can see why it's a local favorite. The ice cream selection is extensive- the soft serve flavors are very interesting. I was thinking they had one of those 100 flavor soft serve machines but they really do use real Ingredients not just syrup. The entire atmosphere at Cindy's feels like a old-timey summer night -- soft serve ice cream, lawn games, oldies music and inexpensive food. The only thing missing is a drive-in movie screen behind it to complete the nostalgia. If you're trying one of their 100+ flavors of soft serve/frozen yogurt, or their famous Long Dog, there's not a doubt in my mind you're leaving happy. To the right and back of the establishment are picnic benches, chairs, and playground equipment for little ones to use some of the energy they just got from the food. Another perk, which I'm pretty sure many ice cream places do this, (-however I always choose Cindy's for this), is to order the puppy ice cream they have for your furry friend/child. I LOVE soft serve, but was unaware that I had options outside of; chocolate, vanilla, or a swirl of them both together. My soft serve loving mind was blown when I saw the options here; grapenut, grasshopper, Oreo, German chocolate, peanut butter cup, and there are dozens more flavors. I don't know how they do it, they only have a few machines, all the flavors we tried were delicious, some even having chunks and bits in them, like chocolate for example. The servings were huge, mine had to have been a foot in height (including the cone). Their hard serve flavors are just as inventive, my mom had kettle corn which was also superb. I especially appreciate the play area that they have for the children here. Behind the restaurant is a menagerie of play sets and toys with a wide open field behind it. Letting my kid work out her post ice cream sugar rush was a huge help to me! Definitely a must visit if you live in the valley. And would be a great low key date spot. read more

InI've always loved this place. The owner has never changed a thing and has kept it looking like a 50 ' s diner and soft serve ice cream. The food is great and the icecream is great too. Today was funny though. It was really hot and busy so the ice cream makers couldn't keep up so I took a picture of this guy's melting ice cream lol! This place has some of the best soft serve ice cream hands down. I love love the variety of flavor combinations. Sizes/price ratio is spot on. Not to mention they have doggy dishes for furry four legged friends. I also love the 50's music they play over the loud speakers. On any given day, there is usually a line of people waiting for ice cream. And everyone waits patiently 'cause it's just that good. The lines usually move pretty fast as they are usually well staffed. (I've never waited more than 15 minutes) They do serve some diner food and that is pretty decent as well. There is small inside seating area that can be a bit of tight squeeze at times. People are able to order the diner food from the take-out windows but on a really busy day this food can take up to 1/2 hour to be ready. This place is great for kids as it has a nice play area. Adirondack chairs and picnic are scattered outside and make for some comfy seating. Bring the bug spray because on a hot day you will get bit. My biggest pet peeve about this place is the cars and teenagers. Often young teenage drivers will speed into and out of the parking lot. The take-out windows are parallel and perpendicular to some prime parking spots and there are no barriers that prevent these young drivers from cutting through the take out window lines. I feel it's only a matter of time before someone gets hurt (think little kid or dogs) read more

I just love this place for delicious soft serve ice cream. Normally I prefer hard ice cream but Cindy's soft serve is an exception. I especially love the way they make their peanut butter ice cream, although depending on the server sometimes the flavor is a little light. Mandating a certain amount of flavoring across all flavors would correct the problem. The regular food is classic American greasy spoon fare. Delicious! They only take cash so be prepared. read more

For a place that offers vegan - they don't have many options for food and definitely do not keep vegan and non vegan food separate. I've gotten fried chicken in my fries before. They are never consistent with their sizes or vegan menu - always running out of things or not offering it that day. The older lady that works there is also very rude - every time we go there she has a bad attitude and throws her hands up in frustration- every time. I love checking out roadside stands serving up good food and ice cream. And I was not disappointed by Cindy's. I had a basic hamburger with lettuce, tomato and onion topped with some ketchup and mustard. Nothing fancy, but cooked just right...tasty, greasy (but good greasy!) and thoroughly enjoyable. Split some curly fries, which have never been my favorite type of fry, but these were crispy, hot and just good. Topped off my meal with the Hawaiian Smash...vanilla soft serve blended with pineapple, cherries, coconut , bananas and strawberries. Excellent! I've never been a fan of soft serve, but I might convert to Cindy's. Nothing weird tasting at all...just soft creaminess. We will definitely be back. I really don't like to give negative reviews, especially to small businesses, but this place was not just mediocre, it was awful. I got a medium chocolate/vanilla twist ice cream and some cheese fries. The vanilla ice cream tasted like chalk and chemicals, although the chocolate tasted vaguely cocoa-y. The cheese fries were just inedible. As a portly Irish-descended person, I never met a potato I didn't like, but I actually threw these out after a couple bites. They were worm-pale, squishy, and pasty in consistency, with no discernable flavor. The cheese was the same color as the fries, a greasy, off-white, melted plastic mess with also, no flavor other than a vague sense of chewing on Saran wrap. I actually went home, sat for a while, felt quite sick, ate some Tums, and prayed for sleep. Same yourselves, don't eat here. I love greasy food, fast food, and diner food, but this wasn't that. Ice cream , soft/ hard with 100 flavors of the soft serve. Sundaes , flurries etc. , the whole 9 ice cream wise. Also a food menu. I ordered a foot long dog meal that came with big order of fries and med soda for only 6 bucks! !! Bacon cheese dog was amazing too with huge amonut of bacon and lots of cheese. Cindy's is a fantastic place to visit on a sunny summer day, especially if you have kids or a dog or both. It's a 50s-styled drive-in diner with a walk-up window. They're constantly playing 50s songs through the outdoor P.A., and now and then you'll find a vintage car show going on here. The back is incredibly kid-friendly, with tons of picnic tables and kid playsets on a green field. Sitting there on a bright green day with ice cream, playing kids and happy music, you get a real feel of classic americana that's hard to find these days. This place is one of the grubbiest places I've ever been. If you are unfortunate enough to put your bare skinned arms down on any table, you will stick to it. Every table is dirty with the spilling of the last three groups that sat there. Not a single clean surface to be found. The broken, lopsided Adirondack chairs have never seen a hose and the ancient little tykes backyard playground toys look like they've been salvaged from the dump. You stand in dirt and gravel to place your order. The mosquitoes are a serious problem and I always fear that someone will get hit by one of the cars speeding by.
