Rich, creamy, smooth, full of flavors, pretty much perfect. And their pricing is pretty good -two small dishes (peanut banana and Mexican chocolate) were just $4.50 each. And of course, a "small" dish is far from small, they were close to two scoops each. I really enjoyed the Mexican Chocolate. It had a "spicy" warning on it, which was merited because the ice cream had a slight cayenne after bite to it that was a great combination with the icy cold chocolate and cinnamon tastes. Northside has a very large flavor menu with close to 40 regular flavors, ten seasonal flavors, eight soft serves, shakes, floats, coolers, sundaes, and more, even a doggie dish. They have a nice seating area with picnic tables and benches, and a few photo ops for the little darlings in your party. The only drawback was their small parking lot where an inconsiderate clod thought his desire for ice cream outweighed my ability to back out of my parking spot. He could have parked right next door where a neighboring business was closed on Sunday and walked over, like half a dozen other customers did. The grounds are eye-strikingly beautiful with flowering flats and hanging baskets everywhere you look. To the far right of the main building is a small produce store with zucchini, watermelon, onions, potatoes, scallions, beans, lettuce, radishes, and more. But the left side of that building was the primary reason we visited Fini's, because that's where the ice cream action is! Cones, shakes, sundaes, banana splits are yours to enjoy at a reasonable price and a pretty generous portion. It's always an adventure when you order a Kids sized cone, because some are scaled to an itty-bitty Lilliputian-sized portion, and some are supersized. Their $4.50 Kid cone was on a regular sized Sugar Cone and sure looked to me like more than two scoops. Our cone selections were Strawberry Cheesecake and Almond Joy. Fini's ice cream was very good- great flavor that was smooth and creamy, without a trace of ice particles. What a cool place to visit!

During cocktail hour, when I ordered my first drink, Cindy asked me for my ID. At the time, I didn't think much of it. However, later on, I asked the other people at my table if they had been asked for identification, and they all said no. I was the only person at my table who had been asked to show ID. When I ordered my second drink, a martini, Cindy told me I needed to "watch myself" with my drinks. I understand martinis are strong and that bartenders need to monitor guests, but I was not intoxicated, acting inappropriately, or showing any signs that I needed to be cut off. I was simply enjoying myself at a wedding. I hadn't finished my second drink, but with the speeches about to start, I had my boyfriend order a third drink for me from the other bartender. I was already uncomfortable with Cindy watching and commenting on my drinks, so he went to the other bartender to avoid another interaction with her. Cindy then went over to my boyfriend at the bar and told him to "watch me" or I was going to need to be cut off. People from our table witnessed the interaction, including her making a hand gesture indicating that I would be cut off. Later, someone from our table ordered the same drink, and Cindy asked if it was for the "skinny girl in the blue dress." I was so embarrassed that I didn't even finish my second drink or touch my third. My boyfriend asked for a refund for the third drink since I never touched it and felt uncomfortable with Cindy counting and monitoring my drinks. She refunded our entire bill, but continued to emphasize that it was her job to count people's drinks and that because I was "so skinny," she would hate to see me get sick. I asked her directly whether I seemed overly drunk or had done anything that gave her a reason to believe I needed to be cut off. She said no, but continued to focus on the fact that I was a "skinny girl." I completely understand and respect a bartender's responsibility to monitor alcohol consumption and cut someone off if they are genuinely showing signs of intoxication. That was not my issue. My issue was being repeatedly singled out, having comments made about my body, and being discussed with other guests in a way that made me feel humiliated. I was honestly so embarrassed that I wanted to leave the wedding. Thankfully, my boyfriend talked me into staying, and we were still able to enjoy the reception. We didn't continue drinking for the rest of the night. What made it even more upsetting was seeing several men later in the evening who appeared much more intoxicated than I was after just one drink still being able to order drinks without issue or being told to "watch themselves." I hope the Log Cabin takes this feedback seriously. There is a professional and respectful way to monitor someone's alcohol consumption without making comments about their body or publicly making them feel singled out.
