I paid for an $80 pedicure because I wanted to relax after a long week and specifically wanted the massage portion of the service. Unfortunately, I was given a different technician than usual and the experience was disappointing. The massage was rough and overall the service did not feel worth the price. What really upset me was what happened when I went to pay. Another employee loudly called me out in front of the entire salon by saying, "You're not going to tip?" I was honestly shocked by how bold and unprofessional it was. Tipping is supposed to reflect the quality of service, and customers should not be publicly embarrassed or pressured into tipping. What makes this even more uncomfortable for me is that I have been coming here for years and have never once seen employees call out or shame white customers over tipping the way I was. Because of that, I cannot ignore how racially targeted the situation felt to me. Whether intentional or not, the experience was humiliating and left me questioning the salon's professionalism and treatment of Black customers. I have happily tipped in the past when I felt the service deserved it, but this experience completely changed how I view this salon.

I let it slide, why would they assume I understand, maybe the pedicure would be great? Nope. The woman working on my pedicure was clipping hangnails and pinched my skin twice. This caused a layer of my big toe skin to be raw and my pinkie toe to bleed. I winced in pain multiple times and pulled my feet back. The pedicure itself looked good so I thought the shenanigans were over and the rest of the process of the deluxe pedicure package would go okay. Wrong again. She begins to exfoliate my legs, aggressively and applying pressure directly to my shin bone. I felt like she was upset that I kept wincing in pain multiple times. Unsure if that was the case, but it definitely came off that way. I will not be returning. To the staff of Bellagio: 1) Never assume a customer does not understand, I myself spent all of my 20s in Asia (Specifically Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan). 2) Please be more gentle with the skin on the toes, it is fragile and can bleed easily. 3) When applying an exfoliant or lotion, regardless of trying to massage the leg, apply with little to no force and focus on areas where muscle resides (example: the calves). This is a very pretty salon and has the potential to be great, but staff must display better customer service and general kindness to customers. I was looking forward to nice day of self care while visiting my niece, but now I will not return. People come to the salon to relax, not to be on edge what will happen to their hands or feet next.
