In town for a concert. Decided to check out the local bakery…read more Service was fantastic. Woman behind the counter talked me through my decision making process. She was kind, patient and talkative. 5 stars Atmosphere: kind of a strip mall mext to a gas station. Clean inside and out. No seating inside. Beautiful, well displayed goods. Easy to find and parking is sufficient. 4 stars Baked goods: while not the best bakery i have been to (I have been to a few), this one had a very strong showing, especially for a very small town. I had a few things. 1. Small bite sized chocolate cake (don't remember the name). 5 stars. The best value and in a small package. Raspberry fold over. Fresh and light and tangy. I really enjoyed this one. 4.5 stars. Lemon bar was solid but not anything exceptional. 4 stars. Pecan sticky bun was also solid but a little dry for me. 4 stars. A coconut dish that looked like an ice cream scoop of coconut on a bed of dark chocolate. I wish it had a higher chocolate to coconut ratio...maybe dipped in chocolate instead of drizzle on top? Other than that, it was really good. 4.5 stars. My friend enjoyed his cinnamon roll and also loved the bite sized chocolate cake. 4.5 stars. Very well done.

It currently was closed…read moreto all a traditional landmark in Fox Lake l8ve on with a new owner who have the passion for baking some delicious treats. Meet the new owners Katie and Matt. Their culinary dream of working together has finally come true for them. The decor has been updated and they are still finishing up the inside, but felt the area was so missing the amazing treats this location offers. Trust me after speaking to them many times they will have many of the bakery well known items come back to the shelves and be ready for purchase. Whats nu e is they are offering more options and ways to make sure you're able to get that sweet tooth taken care of and soon will ha e online ordering available. I tested the cinnamon roll (I'm so gett8ng more so delicious and ate have while warm and the other half the next day, it stil lwas so good) and a cherry filled donut for my sister. I also got the jalapeño and cheese bagel yum it had the right amount of goodness and spice that I like. So stop in and have an open mind, try something new that maybe in the pastry Bakery you may have never tried.

Everyone knows Racine kringle which is the most famous but not even close to the best. This bakery…read moreis a throwback with old glass cases showcasing hand made kringle and other bakery delights. We did a taste test between O&H pecan kringle versus Bendtsen's. They both had different qualities so there wasn't a clear winner. Bendtsen's is flakier and drier than O&H with larger pecans. O&H had more moisture, smaller pecan pieces and a sweeter frosting. Bendtsen's also serves more traditional flavors and doesn't make a Tipsy Elf like O&H which BTW is delicious. They are within a couple of miles of each other so next time you're in Racine it's worth trying them both.

Summer of 2025, QVC was in Racine filming for the Racine Kringle brand and the crew (my sister is a part of) made it a point to try all three in a taste test. Bendtsen's won! They are still handmade unlike their competition. It's a cute little shop and the lady working (not sure her name) was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We could tell she was proud to work there. There were several flavor options left that weekend afternoon and it came highly recommended by my sister to try the spinach and cheese pastry. Ask for it warmed up, delicious!

Bendtsen's Bakery - It's so quaint and reminds me of a store from years ago. Old floors etc like an old butcher.
