The food ( breakfast) was absolutely amazing. Not sure if they make their breads on premises but it was scrumptious and the scrambled eggs were absolutely perfect . Another person in our party had pancakes that so good as well as a meat plate with bacon, eggs and some other goodness. The orange tasted freeze squeezed. Service was awesome. They were so busy but the waitress never missed a beat. The place is looks like a regular diner. But it was very clean. We were in the area to celebrate our neice graduating Navy basic training. I found this place on yelp and decided to have our family eat here based off the recommendations. We were very happy with our food and the service. The ambiance of the restaurant is very homey and inviting. I loved the old school chairs that had wheels on them. Haven't seen chairs like that in awhile. The customer service was fantastic. Our waitress recommended food for us since it was our first time eating there and she also gave our sailor a military discount. I'm posting pics of all the food. It's been 39 years since my last visit. This location has always done great business for breakfast and closes after lunch. My granddaughter wanted pancakes today and the location was perfect to stop in. Not much in the area for pancake house. Clientele has definitely changed with about 90% of the patrons being Hispanic. I was quite surprised at that change. My wife and I ordered patty melts as it was lunch time, and my granddaughter got her pancakes. We asked for medium which is more well done than I normally order my beef because otherwise this sandwich can become greasy between the onions and red meat. Thankfully ordering medium was placed, because they came out medium rare and greasy. I can imagine how greasy and undercooked that would have been if I had asked for medium rare. Both sandwiches were undercooked and greasy. The child's silver dollar pancakes did look good. Fries and sweet potato fries were terrible If I came back here it would be only for breakfast but that won't be anytime soon Drive the extra 10min and go to Chuck Wagon. Always a winner read more

Sizeable portions - most meals come with a choice of toast or pancakes, with the option of upgrading to specialty pancakes for an extra $3. You can see from my photos that the side of pancakes huge - two big, fluffy pancakes! Orange juice is fresh squeezed in house. My latte was good. Coffee was ok, but bottomless with the option of getting a to-go cup too. Pricing seemed a little weird on a couple items - the apple pancake is a whopping $27 for example; we didn't order it. I returned to this restaurant for lunch after nearly 20 years away and chose to dine on the patio. The service started strong--our server was prompt with drinks and took our order efficiently. Our meals arrived quickly as well, though the salad came without dressing, When our waitress returned about ten minutes later, we requested the missing dressing. Unfortunately, it took two additional requests and another ten minutes before we finally received it. To make matters worse, the salad itself was limp and wilted, clearly not fresh. When I go to Chicago from Milwaukee I take Hwy 41 as often as I can to avoid the tolls on I-94. Subsequently, that means I pass The Point Pancake House pretty much every time. After eyeing them up for years, I made it a point (see what I did there?) to stop on my way down on most recent trip. I ordered one of their two specialty pancakes that take a half an hour to make, the Apple Pancake. I also got a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. The scrambled eggs and cheese were nothing exciting. They were cooked long enough to not be runny, but weren't cooked long enough to necessarily be called firm either. Pretty standard as far as restaurants go. The Apple Pancake was a disappointment. The middle didn't rise like in other pictures I've seen. The consistency inside the pancake was almost like bread pudding in that it was mushy, which is not very pancake-like. The apples didn't have any crunch to them and had only a slight hint of sweetness instead of a pronounced sweetness or even sour taste of a green apple. To top it all off, I found a piece of chive in my pancake, which the waiter agreed shouldn't have been in there. That part's not a huge deal, but it shows me that they're not super careful with how they're making food if a chive can end up in the pancake batter. I ended up not finishing this $17 pancake due mostly to the mushy texture. I don't feel the need to go back, which is sad because I've wanted to go there for the longest time and also really wanted to try the lemon German pancake. Oh well. read more

My friend and I have been going to The Point every month for the past two years. The food was always good. On February 10, 2026 we had lunch there. I ordered a hamburger w/fries and my friend ordered chicken salad sandwich w/fries. The fries tasted as if the oil hadn't been changed. We didn't eat them, my hamburger was bone dry. I asked for mayo and it was tan in color - didn't use it. Someone is going to get sick eating their food. read more

Well, the food and service were OK. Was vey loud, but I could live with that. Where I found a problem is with the menu. I ordered eggs, hash browns and toast (plain $12). I added bacon which according to their menu was additional $1. I was charged $15 instead of $13. I asked if this was an egg surcharge. It was NOT. They explained it was a "TypeO" on their menu. They admitted it was THEIR error, yet refused to correct it on my bill. It was a stinking $2 and they would not stand behind what was printed on their menu. I gave up trying to make my point, it was after all only $2. I hope their obstinance was worth this poor review on YELP and my pledge not to return, as you can bet they aren't going to correct their menu anytime soon. Customers beware! read more

Okay brunch place, but can certainly be improved upon. The good: fresh squeezed orange juice, gluten and vegan offerings The bad: You must wait inside if you want a table - there is no option for them to text you, no pager, you physically have to be visible in a small waiting area. This is less than ideal when they quote an hour wait time. The pancakes look amazing, but they're rather basic. The bananas fosters pancakes are a huge stack of cakes with only bananas, pecans, and syrup over the top. Once you get beyond the first pancake, the rest of the stack is boring and dry with none of those good ingredients. Also, they claimed brown sugar glaze, but it tasted like pure maple syrup. The potato omelet or hash brown omelet, I forget what it was actually called was okay. I was a bit let down with the amount of hashbrowns in it. I would have gotten a side of hashbrowns if I knew it would be stuffed with such a meager amount. Overall, not the worst brunch place. It seemed clean and busy, but was completely underwhelmed once I actually tasted the food because it looked much better than it actually was. read more

Had a beautiful time last Sunday grabbing some brunch on their patio. We have visited a few times before but first time sitting outdoors. Decoration inside is also cute but we took advantage of the perfect weather we had that day. Love those yellow umbrellas btw, it gives a cute vibe! We had reservations for a birthday breakfast for 3 grandkids at a nearby restaurant. When we showed up there it was closed with no explanation. We frantically googled alternatives and found the Point Pancake House. They accommodated our party of 14 (!) with about 20 minutes notice. The food was great (and fast) and the servers were amazing. First time at the Point, and I was excited when I saw that they have gluten free pancakes and waffles. I decided to go with the chicken and waffles. When our waitress came out, she had a really friendly, outgoing demeanor, really had a nice vibe. But when my food came and I took the first bite of my waffle it screamed "I'm gluten free!" Waffle was dry on the inside, with a chalky flavor. Chicken was a bit dry as well and had very little taste. Conveniently located on the corner of Milwaukee Ave and Hwy 41 in Gurnee. I dined here on Friday morning, it was extremely busy and difficult to find a parking space. My sister was visiting from TN and we were looking for a place to dine with our Mother. We usually go to Walker Bros Pancake House or to Egg Harbor, however we wanted to try something different. The restaurant was noisy since it was so busy. We prefer a booth to a table since it is more comfortable and makes for easier conversation. I ordered off the Senior Menu and had Brioche French toast one egg and a sausage link, it was a bargain. It was just what I needed without feeling full. My sister ordered the Crab Benny and that was definitely the find on the menu. My Mom ordered Avocado toast. It arrived cold and barely had any avocado. It had more feta cheese than Avocado and because it was cold we sent it back. My sister split her Crab Benny with my Mom since she didn't want to wait for another Avocado toast to be made. I have dined at your restaurant many times and usually get crepes which I absolutely love. I believe that crepes should have their own food group. Now that I am considered a senior I decided to order off the senior side of the menu and it was such a bargain. This I considered my new find. I would definitely recommend this restaurant however stay away from the Avocado toast since I don't feel that it is worth the price. I don't believe in paying for more feta than Avocado with food being the price it is. I also noticed that they do carry an Apple Pancake and a German Pancake. I thought those prices were ridiculous seeing that they aren't Walker Bros. Even Walker Bros doesn't charge $25 and $27 for their pancakes.
