Cindy's Rooftop was a very enjoyable experience, and I can absolutely see why it's such a popular destination. The views of the Chicago skyline are breathtaking and definitely the highlight of the restaurant. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food was very good. We ordered the signature smashburger and the cod fish sandwich, both served with crispy fries, along with gin spritzers. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. Our server was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The only disappointing part of our visit involved the host. Our server had turned our table so both of us could enjoy the skyline view through the window. Later, the host approached us and said we couldn't have the table positioned that way. We explained that our server had been the one who turned it for us, which was true. The host walked away and never returned to clarify the situation or let us know if it was acceptable after all. That interaction left us feeling confused. As a same-sex couple sitting close together, we couldn't help but wonder if that influenced the interaction, although we have no way of knowing. A brief explanation or follow-up from the host would have gone a long way toward making us feel more comfortable. Overall, the incredible views, good food, and attentive service made for a memorable visit. Despite the awkward interaction with the host, I would return for the atmosphere alone.
Always a beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, and elevated experience. Cindy's is one of those places that is just a bucket list places for great food, unique cocktails, and stunning views! The prices are a little high, but you have to remember youre downtown! I do love that you can have a drink outside on the patio without reservations. Reservations open up 14 days in advance and they go quickly!
One thing I've learned turning almost 60... I'm traveling for the views, the food, and the memories--not to fight a crowd for a spot at the railing! (If you are young, dress up, enjoy the view, the music, the vibe (as one gentleman around 26 told me, so sweet), and the crowd. Cindy's, on the rooftop of the Chicago Athletic Association, is absolutely worth the visit. The sweeping views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan are beautiful, and the food was every bit as impressive as the scenery. Since we're vegetarians, we enjoyed some delicious meat-free dishes, including crispy arancini, a rich and flavorful rigatoni, and a chocolate dessert (The Rocker, I will say the baked Alaska did look amazing), that disappeared much faster than I'd like to admit. We paired it all with two refreshing mocktails (N/A Spritz $16.00 a non-alcoholic hugo, aperol or pathfinder spritz; bitter - citrusy - crisp and a KEVIN!! $18 seedlip garden 108, strawberry puree, lime, elderflower soda). The best surprise? Our mocktails were complimentary because our room couldn't be upgraded, and our credit card package included a beverage credit. We also had a $100 hotel dining credit to use during our stay. It's a good reminder to investigate travel credit cards--they can add some nice perks, especially if you pay the balance off every month. My biggest tip: make a reservation. The wait can get pretty long. We were lucky and only waited a few minutes. Could you grab a drink and stand outside? Sure. But honestly... that's a younger person's game! I'll happily trade standing shoulder-to-shoulder in a crowd for a comfortable table, great service, and a view I can enjoy. Age has taught me that comfort is underrated. Our server was friendly, attentive, and somehow always seemed to appear at exactly the right moment without hovering. If you're visiting Chicago, put Cindy's on your list. Be patient if you're walking in, order something you've never tried before, enjoy one of their creative drinks (with or without alcohol), and take a few minutes to soak in one of the best rooftop views in the city. Sometimes the best souvenirs aren't things you buy--they're the meals, the laughs, and the places you'll still be talking about long after the trip is over.
Cindy's is all about the view, it's absolutely worth visiting for the stunning scenery. It can be very difficult to get a reservation since it's almost always busy, so plan ahead. While I wouldn't say the food is exceptional, it's good enough to complement the experience and a bit expensive, but the service is friendly and attentive. If you're looking for one of the best views in Chicago, this is definitely a place to visit.
All I can say is WOW! Last night in Chicago and what a perfect way to end it at Cindy's Rooftop. Make sure you get reservations ( 14 days before ). Can't miss it ! The views are incredible and make sure you come for nighttime views as well. We had the tuna tartare ( delish !) the strip steak was really great. The rigatoni vodka was in a special lemon whipped ricotta HEAVEN! Bread and herb app delish. I can't believe this mocktail !! Late night dinner and sips after the ghost gangster tour around Chicago! We picked Cindy's rooftop at the Chicago Athletic Association on the 13th floor for stunning skyline views which was the perfect spot to just unwind from the busy day. Though we couldn't see much of Lake Michigan, we knew it was just right there. We enjoyed the fresh Caesar salad, creamy Rigatoni alla Vodka, and warm bread with herbed butter. , and an espresso martini and a glass of prosecco. For dessert, we ordered the baked Alaska (So good), and coffees which ended the night with perfection. Service: Cheers to Anthony for the wonderful service and great menu suggestions!
Went to Father's Day brunch and sort of disappointed with the limited choices on the menu. I always like Cindy's for the vibe and views but this experience was a tab bit underwhelming. We shared a dozen oysters to kick start the meal . I got shrimp and grits and daughter got French toast, son got chilaquiles and hubby got an old fashioned omelette with some beer . They didn't have chilled glasses so he had to wait for a bit to have his beer .
Beautiful, grand old school lobby that takes you back in time. Rooftop restaurant and bar just as special with a great view of the park and lake. Great vibe and ambiance. Service was to be as expected, top notch. Small menu but enough to appeal to all tastes and needs. Decided to go light for dinner and I chose the caesars salad with salmon. Great flavors and toppings on the salad. Salmon was just ok. Coworkers had tuna tartare (excellent) and the beet salad also with salmon (really good). Split the roasted carrots which were delicious, especially the sauce.
We visited Chicago and we looked forward to every single meal we made reservations for, and both me and my husband agreed Cindy's rooftop is the top among all the restaurants we visited. We went on the memorial weekend, and we didn't know we are getting the brunch intead of the lunch menu. We were so gonna get that fish and chips equivalent, so it took us some time to finally decided on the meal choice. My husband got the breakfast with chicken sausages, while I got the burger. Their burger is great with two thin patties. The veggies and pickles with it is delicious. The bun is pretty good. The fries was decent. His breakfast is so much better than mine though! I tried everything on his plate and it was good! After we finished our meal, we also took some nice pictures at the balcony which you can see all the way to the Field Museum area on a nice weather day. The restaurant is conveniently located near the Grant Park area. We actually visited the cloud gate, fountain, The cultural center, Target/5 below, comic stores, route 66 sign, Chicago stock exchange arch, and the art institution all in that trip. Very convenient! Their reservation opens 2 weeks before. If we ever go back to Chicago, we will definitely visit them again. Hopefully I will complete my Invisalign treatment and can actual eat more food! The elevator is very "vintage" btw. We tried both the express and regular elevators and that was an interesting ride...
My friend and I were in Chicago recently and stayed at the Chicago Athletic Association. Our reservation was made using The Hotel Collection, and it came with a credit, which we used in part for a late night snack and drinks at Cindy's Rooftop. While I wasn't a big fan of the taste of my drink and dessert, my friend enjoyed both of theirs. Rather, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. My friend ordered The Rocher for dessert, which includes hazelnut cake, mascarpone chantilly, and smoked maldon salt. I ordered a Baked Alaska, consisting of citrus cake, lemon cream, toasted meringue, and salted white chocolate crunch. We both also ordered cocktails. I cannot recall the name of the drinks. I asked for my drink to be fruity and sweet, but it wasn't enough of either for me. The Baked Alaska was fine but too much of various flavors. I wouldn't fault the restaurant for the drink or dessert taste as I know others really enjoyed theirs. Our server was most attentive and very helpful. We found that making a reservation on Open Table only offered a certain number of time slots, and all of them involved having dinner and not just drinks or a dessert. Reservations can also be made on their website though we chose to speak to the front desk about a reservation. Going up to the bar is first come, first serve though. We ended up making an Open Table reservation and were told it was okay to only order drinks and desserts. Cindy's is named in honor of Marian "Cindy" Pritzker, a beloved Chicago philanthropist. It sits on top of the 13th floor of the hotel under a glass atrium and offers views of Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and beyond. Truly amazing!! The view was spectacular (despite it being a cloudy day), service was great, food was DELICIOUS, and drinks were perfect!! We got the bread and herb butter, mushroom risotto, rigatoni, margarita, and Hugo spritz. All great! Will definitely be returning on our next Chicago trip.
Stopped by Cindy's Rooftop after a nice dinner. Ordered the Island Time cocktail. The drink was refreshing with a tropical flavor profile, balanced and easy to sip while taking in the scene. The real standout here is the view. From the terrace you get a sweeping look over Millennium Park with The Bean and the Crown Fountain, the lake, and the skyline all at once. It's one of the best vantage points in the city for both daytime and evening. It does get busy, so there can be a wait, but once you're up there it feels worth it. Cindy's Rooftop is one of those spots that instantly delivers a cool, energetic vibe. Located on the 13th floor of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel--perfect for a special night out. My husband and I stopped in before a concert, and from the start, the experience felt elevated--literally. There's an elevator operator and a check-in desk on the first floor, so reservations are a must if you want to avoid a long wait. We went in the evening, so we missed out on the full views of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park since it was dark. I can only imagine how stunning it is during the day. NOTE: the tables are fairly close together, which makes it a bit tough to have a private conversation. We shared the charcuterie board, which was more than enough for two--perfect since we didn't want to overdo it before a night of dancing. Overall, it was a great pre-event spot, and I'd absolutely go back--next time for brunch or lunch to really soak in the views and get the full Cindy's experience. Heard great things about this spot, so managed to snag a lunchtime reservation here on a weekday. The interior is a dream. It's at rooftop level, so there was loads of natural light that left the space feeling so open. I loved that I was able to order a n/a drink but add alcohol anyway haha. 10/10 option For food, I got the scallops, the truffle fries, and the smoked fish dip. The scallops were okay, a little too salty and had a bitter flavor to them. Truffle fries came in a xl portion, but these were so yummy and I loved the black garlic aioli that came with it. The fish dip was also super delicious and I loved that we could get free bread refills. View is ofc spectacular, service was super kind and attentive, and overall, this was a pretty good experience! read more
This was the moment we've all been waiting for! Haha. This is where I chose to take my husband for our intimate meal on his birthday. We have been traveling w a party of 6, and I just wanted time away, just us two. This establishment was perfect! Once I found the correct elevator to take upstairs, I was super impressed by the gorgeous décor, and the impressive service received by the hostess. We were immediately seated. Great views all around whether you're facing outdoors to the Michigan River or the picturesque bar, you're lucky! You can see the skyline of Chicago, The Bean, and Michigan Avenue from the outdoor area. Our table person Andy was pleasantly amazing! He provided great recommendations. Very knowledgeable about the menu, etc. Collectively, we ordered the following. Classic Breakfast - Delish! Well plated, great flavor. Breakfast Potatoes - Well seasoned, and cooked! So good!! Nueske's Bacon - Plentiful, great taste. Chicken Sausage - Very very good! Perfectly prepared. Island Time - VERY smooth, and tasty. Chi Shandy Shake - Very good. Kinda strong, but not overpowering. The food at Cindy's Rooftop is unparalleled, although it is on the pricier end. The food is gorgeous, the ambience is wonderful, the service is strong. Best to come here in the summer so you can enjoy the patio. I wouldn't consider this a budget-frinedly outing but if you're willing to splurge on an amazing meal, come to Cindy's. They book up fast, especially in the summer, so make sure to reserve your spot as soon as you know you want to go. read more

Go for the view, stay for the food!! Cindy's rooftop is one of a kind. I have enjoyed drinks overlooking millennium park before, but went for brunch and am still dreaming of the banana bread. Do not sleep on the banana bread starter with whipped cream and pineapple compote. I also loved Cindy's unique breakfast potatoes and the meal as a whole. read more
Got here just before sundown and the views from their outside patio (complete with fire pits ) were spectacular. The menu was smaller due to it being before 5, but the smash burger was delicious and they had a nice IPA to go with it. It was just enough to share. If you stay at the Athletic Club hotel using your Amex points there's a 100. 00 credit to use there. You can go through it quickly. read more

We had reservations, but it was quite busy when we came. They made us wait by the bar and we got some drinks as we waited. We waited about 30 minutes and then they sat us close to another table. I guess it depends on where you sit but they were trying to pack in people and our seating situation was not optional. The food was okay but not mind blowing as I would always like it to be. I think the best thing about this place is the view..hands down. read more

I came here for happy hour with some of my friends! There was a short line to wait and get in but it went by relatively quickly. Once up top, there was also a long wait for a table but we were able to just get drinks at the bar and stand outside on the rooftop and take in the views instead. I got the Aphra-cadabra which was such a fun yellow drink with lychee, lime, yuzu, and coconut flavors. The rooftop was a little crowded but we eventually got to a great a spot with a view. Overall such a fun spot and I'd love to come back for an actual meal. read more
I love this place!! It's so gorgeous!! The design and decor are stunning! It's a beautiful glass atrium. So much natural light and great ambiance. The views are phenomenal! Lovely views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. Great location. Edward took excellent care of my table. The drinks are fantastic!! I had a mocktail and a cocktail and both were equally delicious. Cindy's rooftop has an amazing view! We came here for dinner, and the bar and terrace were packed. It was hard to see the view because there were so many people, so I just had my tall friend help me record the view on my phone. For dinner, I got the skirt steak which yummy, but it was heavy on the salt. The butter sauce was really good though. The fries were decent, nothing special. I got the Les Doux Tours sauvignon blanc and that was crisp and really delicious, highly recommend this wine! Overall, Cindy's Rooftop is worth visiting especially for first timers. Definitely on the pricier side but it's because you're paying a higher premium to get the view. read more

The Millennium Park rooftop view is STUNNING! Located in the Chicago Athletic Assoc Club on the 13th floor by the third gold elevator. The interior design is amazing with the rooftop glass atrium and tons of green plants to give it a natural feel. The energy is lively and packed with reservations made in advance or walk in for the high top counter or bar. Great service and great scenic view. Cindy's has creative cocktails using fresh local ingredients. Can't believe the mocktails are similar price as regular cocktails though it's so weird and kinda annoying. I'll be coming back to try the Violets in Bloom cocktail. I wish we would have gone to Cindy's for a larger dinner. But we really came for the views. The views were wonderful and better than I expected. The restaurant itself was absolutely cute , almost nautical. The bar area was really neat with their decor. We were pleasantly surprised with the couple of dishes we got and how yummy they were. I've actually to this day have been thinking about that white fish dish! My friend and I shared this as well as their brussels sprouts... Honestly , the best brussels sprouts I think i've had ever! We actually wanted to order another brussels sprout! Shared some market salad with their green goddess dressing. Very fresh and flavorful. Our waiter was amazing, and Was the reason we chose some of the items we did. This place was recommended to me by another friend who visited chicago. Cindy's by far has one of the best rooftops in Chicago! Located on the top floor in the Chicago Athletic Association, Cindy's is gorgeous inside and out. I highly recommend making a reservation if you are looking to eat but one tends to be able to walk-in/wait at the bar for a cocktail. The menu does come at a premium for the environment and view of Millennium Park. I got the Violet in Bloom which was well balanced and spirit forward. I miss the days when Cindy's had a larger cocktail menu with combinations I have never seen anywhere else. Over the years, they have definitely become more of a tourist spot and mellowed out their offerings. Either way, it's a must visit when coming to Chicago! read more
Cindy's rooftop has an excellent and a great place to grab a drink and view the Chicago skyline. It can be quite a wait to get to the rooftop but it is worth it. Service wax great and the drinks were delicious. A great spot for anybody looking to see the city lights at night. read more

This is where I always bring friends that are visiting. The view of the bean and the lake are really nice. The cocktails are good. It's perfect for a quick drink, take in the views and head off to the next spot. During the day it's not too packed but in the evenings it can get pretty insane. They have rotating seasonal cocktails and all of the basics - a full liquor bar. They also have food but I've never tried it. read more

Although we only came here for drinks, this was one of my favorite spots when we visited Chicago over the weekend. Enjoyed this extra dirty martini while celebrating a Michigan win with old friends last Saturday. Go Blue! Beautiful bar, beautiful views, beautiful weather... and good friends to share it all with. Happiness. And I needed to give our bartender an extra shoutout for his great service. We had a large group and he confidently asked for all the orders at once. And even with the extra add-ons I was super impressed with his memory in addition to making a great martini for me. Thanks! read more

Each bite was sooo good. I usually don't like the bread that comes with the Benedict's but these were actually so tastyyy. And the potatoes were delicious. The French toast weren't too heavy and not too sweet which is perfect. The view at the top is beautiful too read more
Had a beautiful dinner here with my best friend while visiting Chicago. We got the torchio pasta and the streak frites. Both great choices in my opinion. The pasta was cooked with a brown butter sauce which I've never had before so it was definitely a great first experience. The flavors blended well together with the peppers & rapini. We got our steak frites medium rare just how we liked it! We ended our dinner with getting more cocktails while overlooking the beautiful view of Millenium Park. read more
OMG! We dined at Cindy's Rooftop for a team dinner. I was impressed from the moment I walked off the elevator to the time I left. The service was excellent. The hostess, server, and food runners were all very nice. The location was very industrial and just plain cool. Have me loft living in a big city. The rooftop deck is the show stopper. We went here for a few drinks at the bar and some snacks (without reservation). Such a beautiful, vibrant spot with a gorgeous view of the Millennium Park. Drinks and service were great. Food was decent but not so memorable. Overall, we had a good time. It's such a popular spot that you should get a reservation way in advance if you plan to get a full meal here. read more
Had a lovely birthday dinner here. The rooftop boasts stunning views of Millennium Park. The food was surprisingly exceptional. They had an exquisite handmade lamb bolognese gnocchi as a special. It was decadent and each bite was heavenly. The Burrata appetizer ($21) and Short Rib ($46) were also outstanding - the short rib portion was enormous - definitely split this! To top off the meal was a delicious, rich pot de crème with a "Happy Birthday" chocolate piece and a candle. The interior is elegant and the staff are attentive and courteous. read more
First night we went we had only wanted to get dessert and the hostess's were being pretty rude about it and said we could order to go at the bar but when we walked inside to try to order I had made a mention of it to a man working inside and he got us a table for dessert no problem. The dessert and drinks were really good and we had gone the next mornin for brunch and those pancakes were soooo good! Carrot cake pancakes. The view from our table was also very nice. Very cool place to go for brunch but I would avoid dinner they seem more rude. read more

Cindy's Rooftop is a great place to visit while you're in Chicago- it offers panoramic views of the city and overlooks millennium park. Definitely worth visiting for brunch, lunch, or dinner and drinks. The only downside was that the drinks didn't really taste like there was alcohol in them. Other than that would definitely recommend visiting. read more
For the number of times I have been here, I have no idea why I have not written a review for this joint. The Doctor and I have been here multiple times and simply love the view. Full disclosure, I have never been here at night as I do not want to do with the crowds. We usually try to come here when we know we can get a table on the balcony and watch the view of the city, which is amazing. In full disclosure, the food is not what gets me into Cindy's. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and I love it. But if I never eat there, I would still love coming here to have drinks, chat with The Doctor and take in that view of the city. The wine list is solid for sure when it comes to sparkling. I don't do reds or still wines for the most part, so I can't speak to those, But the sparkling and champagnes on the menu are very good. Prices are decent for what is being served downtown. Cocktails (per The Queen) were delish, but be warned that they are about $18 each. My recommendation is to get a reservation on a nice day, get drinks and have a good time chatting and chat that view. read more

Cindy's faces east so no sunset...it is a pretty view all day long. Patio may be more pleasant in the evening on a warm day...
Do they accept walking?
They do! But come early - even if you get there before they open and go up the first elevator, you might have to wait at the bar. I've walked in twice during opening and been seated within 15 minutes.
Good place for dinner conversation? Or, super loud and you need to yell to be heard?
It is loud in the dining room, you can talk to the person next to you but have to talk loud or yell to heard on the other side of the table.
Are kids allowed?
I'd imagine so, but after 8:30 PM / 9 PM it might not be a "fit"...

Are you able to sit outside? Trying to make a reservation but it says indoors only? Weird
No seating outside
Could I show up for just a drink or two on the patio without reservations? Hoping to go Friday afternoon to show my out of town sister the space.
I went about a week and a half ago and though it says you can't online, while I was there, they were allowing people to just show up and get a drink if there was space available.
Is the outdoor patio open?
Yes for viewing purposes only. You get like 15 min to look at the views.
Kid menu? Wondering if they have anything off menu for kids
Can't really say. I had the pleasure of dining only with other adults so didn't have to look for a grilled cheese or chicken nuggets. Although there were a surprising number of families with small children in attendance
What time is happy hour?
There isn't a happy hour, per se, but they do have a 'limited menu' from like 2:00-4:00 (or maybe 2:30-4:00) and it is just a couple of items/shareables. Even without a sunset view, it is well worth an afternoon visit, the lake view is amazing!
Yelpers! What would you recommend for solo diners?
There's a bar / countertop where a lot of people sit and hang out. Looked like a ton of fun. I almost got up from my table to go sit at the bar.
You have to pay $65 to get in?
Honestly though you can easily spend $65 when you leave there.
Do you have to have a reservation for brunch?
Yes, unless the popularity has fallen way off. I made a reservation three months out last summer.
Do I need reservations OR a table to hang out on their patio? I'm wondering if I can just grab a drink and take in the view and then leave :-)
You can just go hang out, no need for reservation!.
