It was my first time at this theatre and I must say that my experience was very enjoyable. Cinema Cafe has definitely bumped their game up with this cinema. Compared to their other locations in Hampton Roads, this one was AWESOME! It was put beat when I was told it is a cross between the regular Cinema Cafe locates on kemp's like in Virginia Beach and The more upscale cinema in Town Pointe called Cinema Bistro. This cinema is definitely an upgrade from the normal Cinema Cafe. What impressed me the most about this location was its SERVICE!!! Yes Yelpers! I said it! It's services was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I literally felt like I entered a different time zone. We reserved seating online which avoided any hassles to pay. We were greeted joyfully by the host. Upon finding our seats, our waiter greeted us. Took our drink and meal selections. The mango margaritas were strong . Just like me! . The food took a little longer but the movie was so good I quickly put that thought to the back of my mind. Our server circled back around on a few occasions to refill our drinks and ask if we needed anything else. I'm not sure if my plus one was hitting the server button or if our server was just that attentive. Either way I truly enjoyed my experience and wish I would have jotted down our servers name. We saw Gemini man starring Will Smith. Excellent movie. A few additional features I would like to go light are the leather reclining hairs. They were comfortable. Wish they would have more padding in the leg area like the ones at Cinema Bistro but overall it's awesome to recline back. Tip! Bring your favorite comforter or small fuzzy throw. We made our experience even more enjoyable by snuggling under our blankets. It seems to a be a thing... other customers brought their blankets too lol Another feature is the full service bar in the main lobby with ample seating. I also saw outdoor seating and a fireplace but it wasn't lit. There is ample parking and the food was good Do not expect a gourmet meal but they have cocktails, burgers, fries, nachos, Mac and cheese along with chicken fingers. We ordered chicken tenders and fries. It was yummy I will be returning to this theatre sooner than later. Definitely a winner in my book read more

Probably my worst visit ever. Fountain drink (root beer) came out with no ice and had an odd taste to it. Food order never came out after telling the server twice during the movie and him stating he'd look into it. Theater wasn't even full but was normally busy. 5 stars for cleanliness and movie experience. 0 stars for service, no waiter for the whole movie and even had my red light on.....the whole time. At some point it was a game for me, instead of actually walking out of the theater into the lobby and ordering something, I really wanted to just monitor and see how long it would take for a waiter to come my way with the red light on. About halfway through the movie, I just decided it wasn't worth it and gave up on getting anything to eat or drink. The positive here is I saved $75 but spent half at an actual food establishment. I will be back, but will definitely order and tip at the bar in the lobby before going in the theater. This was actually the second time this has happened to me. 4.5 Stars We've been hearing a lot of great things about this place so we decided to finally give it a try. I've passed by to a lot of Cinema Cafes before and I noticed that their movies were outdated. This Cinema Cafe in Edinburgh is very different because they are showing almost the same movies like the other cinemas. We were very impressed on the place and ambiance. It is very modern and trendy. There are 2 kiosks for buying and picking up tickets, and a counter if you prefer to buy your tickets in person. There is also a bar at the middle of the cinema, but you can always order your food inside the theater to enjoy the dining while watching a movie experience. The theater is huge which we were not expecting because they have recliner seating. As much as we love recliner seats, we were not a big fan of their seats. The seats were squeaky when you move (it's the leather's fault) and the footrests were not comfortable. However we are willing to overlook these small details because we were impressed with this place. The service was great as well. Our server was very polite and helpful. There's really nothing special with the food that I ordered, which is the Swiss Mushroom Burger, but the fries were crispy. My friend got Philly Cheesesteak and he loved it. Next time, I will try to get the chicken wings and maybe I will love it more. I've been to another dining cinema before, however we enjoyed going to Cinema Cafe in Edinburgh more. The place is not very uptight and is very comfortable. The foods are not pricey and it has a very friendly atmosphere. We also saved a lot of $$$ because it is so much cheaper to eat while we watch. Who has the best movie theater in the area may be debatable. But after viewing a movie at the Cinema Cafe in Edinburg I can say this is my overall favorite with most facets of my movie experience being exceeded. The theater is less than three years old and has been well maintained. The location is not for everyone. It's Chesapeake, but don't be fooled. It's just 10 miles from the NC border and a little out in no mans land. Developers are continuing to expand on the original housing and commercial development. The theater is part of the commercial expansion that jumped over the road. The downturn of the economy in 2006 really hit huge plans for this area. But I see a bright future. The parking area is massive for the 9 screens. It's easy to get in and out and I found the lot tidy. Everyone is going to the movie over the holidays so it was a bit surprising to not see this one too busy with a few new flicks out like Star Wars. Ticketing was efficient and staff friendly. As you enter there is a massive concession counter. We got a few things in advance. Service at your seat is available in the theater like other cafes. The counter service was also efficient. The theater experience is what you can get excited about. It has a cutting edge sound system and wide reclining leather chairs. I saw no debris and the carpets freshly swept. The movie started on time and no issues throughout its playing. We enjoyed the hot buttery popcorn and drinks. The pizza was not a hit, but edible. The restrooms were clean and had proper supplies. It's too far to be a go to for our family who reside to the North of the Southside of the peninsula. However, it's a fabulous addition for Chesapeake and most certainly areas of NC that has no access to movie theaters. One of the benefits is it's not too busy, but you get all the wonderful amenities. This is a gem. read more

We had our FIRST ever Cinema Cafe movie experience last night, and it was AMAZING!!! My husband asked why we didn't always just do this lol. The food was really good; we got the Megaplex Sampler which was really good! The seats were clean and comfortable and the audio wasn't too overwhelming. Yesterday was our first visit to Cinema Cafe. We recently moved to VA and this location is right across from us. Overall we had a great experience from start to finish. Shout out to our server Kayley (apologies if I misspelled) for great service. Food was surprisingly good. Seats were comfortable however the leg part needs cushion, it's pretty flat and uncomfortable. My main concern is the sound. We paid to see the Avatar release in 3D. Such an immersive film deserves top notch sound. However in our auditorium 6 the sound was extremely disappointing. At moments I couldn't hear well what the actors were saying and most of the sound came from the front top of the movie. I'm hoping this isn't standard to all other rooms. I will visit once more to give it another shot. However if it is I will unfortunately have to choose a different theater to bring our family. It's taken me a while to write this review... seems like my hands are either full of kids or I'm on a date night with the hubs when I am here. This morning, I'm sitting here half paying attention to the cheesy goodness of My Little Pony, The Movie. Definitely the kind of movie you go see for your kids purely out of love. Ha. One of my newest discoveries here at Cinema Cafe Edinburgh is their super low prices on their pre-noon showings... this morning, we brought our three kids (one is a baby so she was free), my husband, and myself to a movie for $24 ... we also used a coupon and got $20 worth of snacks for $11... it made for a very affordable family morning adventure. We love Edinburgh CC for a lot of reasons... not least of all, the comfort and convenience of the chairs. As I mentioned, I have a baby... she is 4 1/2 months old currently and breastfeeding. This theatre is - hands down - the easiest and most comfortable way to go to the theatre and still be able to comfortably breastfeed, especially since the seats have footrests that come up, so I can prop my knees up and let her eat while enjoying the movie. This doesn't apply to most people, but it's a huge plus for us. Dinner and evening movies can get pricy, but there are lots of ways to get a deal if you're on a budget, but either way we truly think it's a great value. At this location, we have never had a bad server or issues with the films themselves (sometimes movies cut out or have sound issues - not the case here)... if you're spending money to go out and have a good time (date night, family night, or otherwise) then Cinema Cafe Edinburgh is a good bet. Always clean and the staff is always friendly. I love that seats are assigned so that there is no confusion or difficulty finding seats. We love the move dining experience especially because the food is made to order so it's fresh and we've never been disappointed with the quality. The chicken tenders here are absolutely delicious. So there's literally one thing I expect movie theaters to not mess up, and that's popcorn. Really guys? We ordered a large bucket for Godzilla vs. Kong this past Saturday, and we got a bowl of wet, bland popcorn. Wet, meaning it was soaked in oil, but lacked any flavor of butter or salt. The server did bring us some salt to attempt to remedy the situation, but I honestly would've rather they have just taken it back. Dumping random pinches of salt on top of wet oily popcorn while trying to not make a mess and pay attention to a movie is... unpleasant. Movie theater popcorn, as many know, is one of the worst things a human being can ingest in terms of calories and nutritional value-- so when I do it, I expect it to be good. Next, we got no type of napkins with the wet popcorn, so I had to summon a server to hook us up with those. I don't really get this place. The idea is that it's cheaper than Regal, and they bring you your snacks-- but the popcorn at Regal is actually worth the money they charge, as are the super huge drinks. It's kind of a pain to have a huge pitcher sitting between two people with some child sized cups that need to be refilled frequently. By the time you tip the people for bringing you snacks (which I've never had an issue with waiting in a concession line at a movie theater), deal with having to wait for them to being you something whenever you need it, and experience a movie with 'okay' rather than excellent surround sound, I'd say it's better to wait until whatever you want to see comes out in Redbox. I can and do make better popcorn at home, a 12 pack of soda is cheaper than one drink here, and my Sony sound bar blows whatever system they have here out of the water. I can't speak for the actual food, but there's no way to really mess it up (except for popcorn apparently). Would you like a burger and frozen fries? Some $12 frozen chicken tenders with frozen fries? How about a pitcher of soda that'll be half melted ice by the time you get halfway through it, awkwardly positioned on your glorified tray table? That stuff tastes good, but again, you can do that at home all by yourself. I'm no chef, but I can put frozen food in an oven and turn it on-- and my frozen pizza doesn't cost the equivalent of a hand made one at a restaurant. If you're coming here to save money, save a little more and stay home or stream the movie in the comfort of your home, or spend an additional ten dollars for a couple and go have a great experience at Regal. The chairs aren't that great, sound quality is sub-par, food is the equivalent of whatever junk you'd buy in the frozen section for those nights when you don't feel like cooking. I'm thoroughly unimpressed with this location and won't be returning to Cinema Cafe the next time I feel like going to the movies. read more

I love the recliners here and the fact I can purchase tickets online. My seats are reserved so no rushing or wondering if I can find decent seat locations for me and my kids. They love being able to eat and watch a movie. The food isn't bad for a movie theater type setting. There's a good amount of food and drink options. Absolutely gorgeous for a Cinema Cafe'. I believe it's a grandiose feel when one first walks up. Signage is huge & there's a beautiful patio area out in the front. When one purchases their ticket from the attendant, the monitor at the counter is to select the seat of your choice. Initially, we thought it was to buy our tickets since it took awhile for acknowledgement. IMO, the icons on the monitor were small and we were rushed through the descriptions of each chair. I recommend studying the seating before going or buying online. Only rows A-D are recliners. There's a row behind D that are singlets(seats 2 people). The remaining rows were all rockers. We chose D & for me, this was still too close like 3-D motion sickness close. No need for a 3-D movie or glasses! :) The sound system was amazing & crisp! My entire head and body were vibrating. The food was great. We ordered my favs, side salad, Asian Zing wings, & piping hot chicken tenders w/ fries. Not sure if its location, luck of the draw, or because we were sitting on recliners. There were 3 of us sharing which we explained. We were given enough napkins but, no plates or utensils. At other locations, we have always been given at least a fork & knife. Salad only came with a fork. Other than that, service was very nice. Overall, great movie theater & experience. I'm not a recliner chair fan of watching movies in a theater but, if you are, I highly recommend this spot! read more

Well well... Been living in Chesapeake for a year now and finally found a reason to come out to the Cinema Cafe at Edinburgh. Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We went out to the CC last Saturday morning, the 16th, and caught the 10am showing of the movie. This location is unlike the other Cinema Cafe's and it's obvious the moment you enter the lobby. While the other CC's are old renovated movie theaters this one appears to have been built from the ground up as a luxury theater. The lobby is beautiful. It's large, carpeted, and is half service area and half dining area with a counter in the just like a diner. Since I had purchased the tickets online via their website, and choose my seats as well, all I had to do was take my printout and and scan it at the desk inside the door to verify the passes. Then off to the theater we went. Upon entering the theater there are rows and rows of luxury recliners. Each recliner is electronic so you can go forward and back or up and down as much as you like. The chairs also come equipped with a small movable table. It kind of reminded me of a high end school desk. In addition there were cup holders in the chair arms to secure your beverage. As the previews started our server came by and I placed an order. The wait time was actually very short, like 5 minutes. My order consisted of a Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. (The Kevin Bacon) and I have a feeling the meals are mostly prepped and they just slap them together and bring them out. The burger and fries were really good and the price was fair at around $16.00 for the entire meal. Now that I've been here I can't wait to go back and go back is something I plan to do soon. My one tiny gripe is that I can't use Fandango and have to use their website, however that's probably because you have to pick your chair on the website. Miner gripe indeed. The place is super nice and well maintained. The staff was great, as was the food and everything was competitively priced. Last but not least the chairs are super comfortable. Always my go to movie theater. I love really love the food, atmosphere and customer service that is provided. The reclining seats are a bonus and you don't feel super close to the person next to you. If ordering a alcoholic beverage, it is usually hit or miss, depending on the bar tender. There's never a hassle when buying tickets or finding a seat. Looooooooving this movie theater! Listen y'all, there's no shame in my game so don't be ashamed... these big cinemas tend to get super cold during the movie so sometimes I bring a fuzzy blanket. Listen, no judgement if you bring your slippers. I'm right there with ya! Get cozy during your 2 1/2 hour movie! ;) Their ticket prices are on fi-yaah! You really can't beat it! If you come in before 12pm Monday through Thursday it's only $5.50 before taxes, and only $6.50 before taxes after 12pm. They offer Wacky Wednesday prices on most films that are only $4.25 per person. It is AWESOME! Esp if you get a "recliner" vs a "rocker" seat.. the recliners are so much more comfortable. They are softer and they go back further than the rockers do! If you're going to see a popular movie be sure to check their website before hand to see if there are seats available. You'd be surprised- they fill up quick! They also offer handicap and companion seats which I love them for because it makes it easier for people who can't climb up and down the stairs in the dark very well and walk long distances. They have moving tables attached to the chairs so that you can enjoy your dinner, popcorn, candy and soda pop with plenty of room. They have a button on every other chair to call a waiter or waitress to your seat if you want to put in an order or need something. It is sooo helpful when you're in the middle of a two hour long movie and really want some coffee.. or some chicken tenders... Don't judge me! Lmao My husband and I live close to Regal Strawbridge, Cinema Cafe- Pembroke Meadows and AMC Lynnhaven Theater In Virginia Beach and if given the choice we will always make the 30 minute drive out to Edinburgh just to see a movie or two or three, back to back to back.... like the total nerds that we are, lol. Speaking of seeing movies back to back, their food is great. Personally if you're looking for dinner suggestions I would recommend their Children of the Corndogs App and their Chicken Tender meal. They batter and fry their tenders there in the kitchen per order and they are crispy and hot just the way that they should be! They have a full bar, hot coffee, cooold beer, Pepsi products and even hot coco if you've got a craving. :) P.S. We love coming here! Surprisingly their food is really good and the chicken tenders are the best chicken tenders I've ever had. The are gigantic and you get 4-5! Their pop corn is always hot and fresh! They also have a nice selection of beers and cocktails. Seats are very comfortable. EASILY the best movie theater in the area. My SO and I go to the movies often and we have a couple theaters we frequent but this is always our first choice. About a 20 minute drive for us, but worth it every time. Tickets: I recommend buying in advance. That way your seats are assigned and you don't have to worry about it and can take your time arriving. Seats sometimes go quickly, especially for popular movies. They only sell through their own website and not on Fandango. When you get to the theater, just scan the barcode from your confirmation email and your tickets print right out! Personal opinion: they should move to skip this step and have a way to scan your phone upon entry. It's a little unnecessary honestly. Seating: they have some theaters that are all recliners and some of the larger theaters have mostly rocker seats. The recliners are the most comfy, but we have sat in the rockers before and still were happy. Food: food is great; never had a bad experience! I love the kids meal with chicken tenders. The tenders are hand breaded and HUGE. As a adult, it's a filling meal. My SO usually gets the fish and chips. Those are our regular orders but on occasion tried other things and have still been happy. Prices are reasonable. Some have said expensive, but it's really standard restaurant prices. I've never looked at the menu and my eyes got big at the prices or anything lol. They also serve beer and cocktails. Their draft beer list is quite large and always has good seasonal choices so always been happy there! Come a little early if not familiar with the menu so you're not trying to figure out things in the dark. Service is always polite and friendly--no complaints there! No Offense but I never knew there was a Cinema Cafe out in the "sticks" LOL I got invited to go watch a movie just yesterday at this place. I couldn't figure out why we couldn't go down the street from the one we live near, but nevertheless, I bought a ticket. On the way here, I couldn't figure out once again why we had to go to one so far, and then, I walked into the place. To start, the seats at this place are pretty damn comfortable and it's assigned seating so you can't just sit anywhere. I used to think this was a ridiculous idea but I think it makes sense now. You come in, find your number, sit down and relax. You'll probably get greeted by a server but if all else fails and they don't come, you have a little button on the side you can press to get some service. The food is the same as other Cinema Cafes I ordered the Gyro and all was ok You can get alcohol here which everyone who knows me knows that's a plus! The restrooms are super clean. My only issue is something I feel they need to turn up the volume or allow more speakers to work. Maybe i'm just used to IMAX or something... read more
