I've been coming to this theater since I was in middle school. I remember catching the bus and watching Captain America: Civil War here. Although everyone seems to have an issue with this theater, it has always been my ole reliable. Today, I had a horrible experience. I'm the eldest sibling of 5 kids. My mom has been sick for a little while now, so I wanted to take my siblings out, and I decided to bring them to the movies. We wanted to watch The Odyssey, but unfortunately we couldn't because it was rated R. I'm 23 years old, my brother is 21, my sister is 17, and my other sister is 15. I've never had an issue bringing any of them in before, but the manager, whose name I don't remember, kept insisting that she couldn't do anything and denied letting my sister in. The only alternative she offered was for us to watch another movie. I understand policies, I work in customer service too but I've never met someone who couldn't even attempt to be a little flexible. Again, I've never had this issue happen before, and honestly, it really ruined what was supposed to be a fun day with my siblings. I just wish there had been more empathy, this honestly came as a surprise. read more

We used to come here as children when it was the Magic Johnson Theater, and it's disappointing to see how much the overall experience has declined. From the moment you walk in, there's an unpleasant odor throughout the building, as if the carpets haven't been properly cleaned in quite some time. The theater seats are visibly worn, with the material peeling and coming apart, making them look unsanitary and neglected. Sitting in them was uncomfortable and honestly made me itch. It's unfortunate to see what was once a community staple fall into such poor condition. I truly hope management invests in improving the cleanliness and overall guest experience. It PAINS me to write this, because I was raised in this era and can remember what it was to see Magic Johnson Theaters come to our community, after years of neglect. Cinemark purchased this property and I've been here twice since then. The first experience wasn't as busy. The theater was okay, but not properly cleaned. I didn't care, but I did. I came recently to see a movie on opening day and the concessions line was absolutely insane. There were two cashiers and two employees pulling food, popcorn, etc. I waited in line for roughly 20 min, pretty much most of the preview time. I got to my seat and the picture attached shows the condition of the seating in the theater. I have many thoughts about how underserved communities receive less attention than others. However, that's another topic. Some of these are basic housekeeping and customer service standards that are not being addressed. Cinemark in other areas are not in this condition and would've been properly staffed to handle such a busy summer weekend. read more

Review #921 2025-098 I'm not usually in this area, but my friend received 2 extra tickets to see "Stitch Head" at the Cinemark Baldwin Hills. Waze was pretty accurate leading us to the theater & grabbing a parking spot close to the entrance. I'm not familiar with this brand because it's not close home (at least I didn't know until I looked them up). They're based in Plano, TX with a few operating near in S. CA like Carson, Long Beach, Downey, etc. My son & I ate linner prior to joining Lily W. & her husband so we skipped the movie snacks, though my son brought some of his Halloween candy as his post meal dessert. The concession stand is quite large, & was without lines for a Saturday evening even though there were plenty of good movie screenings. Check-in was easy since my friend arrived first & passed me our tickets to be scanned for entry. We were in the smaller theater in the back & almost had the whole place to ourselves with the exception of a family & a couple. We got center seats on the 1st row of the stadium seating so no view obstructions & I can rest/stretch my legs on the railing. The seats were a little lumpy, probably because there's a lot of movie goers. The sound system was crisp, though a tad too loud. The theater itself was clean. Stitch Head is an animated monster fantasy comedy with some cutesy songs; it's based from a graphic novel of the same name that's written by Guy Bass. It follows a mad scientist's 1st creation that guides & cares for his master's monsters, who is obsessed with creating new ones & ignoring them once they're alive. He later leaves for the circus, lured by potential fame. Stitch Head believes he's loved at the circus, but his friends, Creature, Arabella, & others, show him otherwise, & eventually make peace with who they (monsters) are & the Grubber Nubbin townsfolk, & accepted into the village as one of their own. Cinemark Baldwin Hills is not my preferred theater by location or brand, but it served its purpose... showing a fun family movie with great sound technology in a theater that we almost had all to ourselves. read more

Overall the experience is okay. Best part of this theater is the large and free parking lot. The seats are worn with some of the upholstery peeeling off in areas. Standard concession area. This location doesn't have a restaurant/bar, so you don't get any of the nicer food and drink options. Staff here is friendly and helpful. This is the closest location to my house, so I'll keep coming here for standard viewings. However, I'll have to go elsewhere for an upgraded experience. read more

This theater was extremely disappointing. I have never felt so uncomfortable sitting in a movie seat--the chairs were peeling, rough, and literally disintegrating. The fact that this was supposed to be an XD screen made the condition of the seating even more unacceptable and immediately left a negative impression. The concessions were also lacking, with several items unavailable, and the hot dog I ordered was nearly inedible. What I enjoyed the most about my visit to this theater is the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. As packed as it was for the first night of Sonic 3, the staff were very impressive. Tazra served popcorn and slurpees to my mom and I and she was very patient and attentive as well. She took the time to make sure I was able to carry our items to our seats. Isaac, one of the security officers answered our questions concerning the pick up of orders at the concession stand. He didn't come off to busy and showed his concern for us. The D-Box experience was very comfortable and awesome. I love the fact that you can adjust the vibration and it didn't vibrate throughout the who entire movie. The size of the popcorn and slurpee combo was impressive as well. I'm definitely coming back. I really enjoyed myself. read more

Came here for the first time to watch Obsession last night and was very excited initially. We came to a late show (11pm) and first impression wise the environment was extremely dirty. Popcorn all over the floor in the concession waiting area and hallways leading to the theater rooms. Little to no condiments restocked in the napkin and utensil area, and overall a huge lack of care to maintain the cleanliness and welcoming environment of the theater. The vibes were not very friendly or welcoming, the employees were more focused on having their own conversation rather than scanning our tickets to enter the theater. The worst part was that when we sat for our movie there was a group of guys that were constantly talking during the movie, we were seated at the very front where the theater speakers were able to hit you loudly by the way, and I could STILL hear them talking during the movie. I am pretty sure the loudest one was drunk. I shushed them and they were annoyed because I asked them to be quiet, but its a movie theater setting. This is why movie theater culture is dying, people do not understand movie theater etiquette and that if you come to the movie you need to be quiet and respectful during the movie. It needs to be reinforced with movie ushers monitoring the theater and making sure people aren't behaving problematically. read more

My adult sister took my 13-year-old brother to see the Mario movie, and they were unexpectedly refused entry because staff insisted he needed a parent present. This made no sense given his age. When my mom arrived and clearly gave permission--and even offered to go in with them--the staff still refused to let them in. What made the situation even more frustrating was that other kids were being allowed in without their parents, which felt unfair and inconsistent. The worker and manager came across as dismissive and arrogant, and they didn't seem interested in resolving the situation reasonably. We've never experienced anything like this at other locations, and it was really disappointing. This felt like unnecessary discrimination and poor customer service. I hope management reviews their policies and trains staff to handle situations like this more fairly in the future. read more

I have a membership with Cinemark, so I usually go to Cinemark theaters, but this isn't my usual location. It's a bit further for me, but I specifically went here because I went to see the matinee showing of Dune 2 recently in a D-BOX seat (the experience where your seat vibrates along with the movie). I thought it would be a cool feature since I knew there was going to be a big battle and sandworm riding. I will say it was fun, but I think the experience was better for Godzilla Minus One (without comparing the actual movies themselves. Just the use of the D-BOX feature). The theater itself was fine - facilities were clean, concession line moved quickly (barely a line), and the popcorn was fresh and delicious. It was a 1pm showing so it wasn't crowded at all. Parking was easy to find in the lot because it's part of a mall. I still will go to my usual Cinemark spot, but if there is a unique offering/ showing that requires me to come out here, I wouldn't be unhappy. Plus, it's located near Post and Beam. A restaurant I like very much. Too bad Hotville closed :( read more

Surprised I forgot to review this theater as I've had two decent visits this year. A friend lives close by, and recommended this place for one of our screenings. Couldn't beat the price (around $10, and this was for nighttime showings) and it was never very crowded, even for a first-run movie. Snacks were good, but even better now since I swear they just added pretzel bites (I don't recall seeing these on my first visit there). There is security present at night, but everyone has been cool and on their best behavior from what I've seen. Seating is like any other movie house; we've sat in the middle and in the very back row and there were no issues at all. Our bad taste in films is exempt from this review, but everything has has been a success. Free parking as well, which is a bonus! I'm not a member yet, but probably should consider if I come over this way more often. Although we are surrounded by AMC's, Regal's, etc. Cinemark is definitely another great option if you have one nearby. read more

Today was my grandmother and I's first time going to Cinemark at 9am for a movie. It was a lite disappointing to hear that they don't sell pretzels. It was also disappointing to hear that the pizza was not delivered til 11am. They also mentioned that the oven wasn't working. I wasn't sure if i heard them correctly. That was disheartening to hear. The counter and the atm machine had so much dust for it to be that early in the morning. To br honest I'm not sure the last time they wiped the counter off. On a positive note, the sound system in the movie was great! My grandmother use to attend this movie theater when it was Magic Johnson and has attended it since its been cinemark but she said she doesn't not want to go here anymore. I went to go see Air which was a good movie, I'd give it a 3 out of 5. The theater definitely was not these same as I remembered it and I think it was improved from what I remember. I love the updated theater for the following reasons 1. Cashier are inside of the building. 2. Seats were leather and you had the ability to slightly rare back or rock in your seat. 3. Great handicap assessable seating for wheelchairs as well as seating for differently able folks that give you the ability to stretch your legs and instead of seating directly in front of another seat. 4. Maze style smart food lines for obtaining snacks with identical items in each of the rows. 5. Butter, condiments placed on a stable stand with double set ups to give you options to walk up to . 6. Bathroom with great roomy handicap accessible stall, clean and well kept restrooms. 7. Friendly and helpful staff, 8. Clean and well kept lobby. 9. Wild how patrons act in this theatre. Been here around a dozen times over the past five years. Not once have a I had a theatre going experience where someone didn't take a phone call during the picture or act like a complete self-serving idiot. After the age of 8, parents need to teach their children after to shut the fuck up when they go to the movies. Half the audience at the shows I've frequented at this halfway-decent movieplex, apparently were never taught that lesson. I get it, life is tough and often times we don't care what others think when we're going through it. We want the world to know we're bad, mad and whatever the fuck else. Went here recently to see Halloween the classic, OG version. Ever heard of the old saying you get what you pay for? There was never a truer saying. Trust me when I tell you, you know you're not at the Cinemark Howard Hughes and damn sure not the Cinemark Playa Vista when you walk in the doors here. You're greeted by security guard who has a big gun on his waist, who has all the finesse and tact of a rhinoceros. Despite your intention to act accordingly, and come and enjoy yourself, you can't help but get the feeling that you're also still in the middle of a low-key war zone. When you have to be greeted by an armed guard to gain access to the place, it puts a foul taste in your mouth. I came here to see Halloween the original, but ended up felt like I was greeted by Michael Myers in uniform. Grabed two hot dogs which tasted good, and were fresh and the gentleman behind the counter was nice enough to get some fresh popcorn for me as well. If you're looking for a classy place to go or to impress someone, you best pass on this particular location. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. read more

The worst movie theater i've been to HANDS DOWN. They have a curfew policy restricting minors from entering without an id which is NOWHERE to be found when purchasing the tickets online. Also, the popcorn's stale and had lacked any flavor both times i've been here. If that wasn't enough, the seats are so DIRTY that it's crazy to think this is a CINEMARK theater, as this is the only other location I've been to that's like this. Also, if you want to be able to hear the movie at all, GOOD LUCK! Everybody always talks and I literally had someone right next to me giggling and talking ON THE PHONE.
