The little Cinnabon store use to be just next door to the Star Supermarket.........both businesses are gone now...........replaced my Whole Foods Supermarket & Puka's. Lucky for us, Cinnabon's is still around, and thriving at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The Cinnabon store is located in the same area of the food court. Upon walking into the store, I see all the various baked goodies that they made, and I also saw some pre-made Cinnabon cinnamon rolls that were pre-boxed. Upon seeing what I came here for, I picked up a box of (4) Cinnabons............and as I got to the counter to pay, the friendly girl at the counter tells me if I buy the box with (6) Cinnabons.........it's only $2.00 more...........hummmmmmmm???? What a saleswomen........well played my friend! So I put back the (4) pack box, & grabbed me the (6) pack box. I must say the cinnamon smell of them Cinnabon rolls are pretty much intoxicating...........but (for me) it can never replace the intoxicating smell of a custard pie!!! Lol! I had to google Cinnabon on Oahu, and if I am correct.............there are only two locations left on the island - Ala Moana Shopping Center, and the other location in Pearlridge Shopping Center. Yes, I looked that up too.............just to let you know, it's 940 calories for just one roll, but at the same time it does have 13 grams of protien too! Big regular Cinnabon was tough around the edges and soft in the middle. What I mean tough is I can feel and taste slightly over baked crunch and that was not an experience I was expecting. Customer service was on par. Thankful I didn't have an under baked Cinnabon. Cinnamon all over butter, soft and gooey treat is all that matters. Now priced with tax at $4.91 makes me think that I must be craving for cinnamon if I'm willing to spend that much dough. Doesn't hurt to wish for cloud nine experience. Cinnabon located at the Ala Moana Center in the Makai Market food court. There's an entrance from the parking lot as well as from the food court. There are times I find myself craving for an original Cinnabon or the Pecan Cinnabon. When I do get that craving I always head to the Ala Moana Center location. The employees are always friendly when I am at Cinnabon. When I place my order I always make sure to ask for that extra topping for the cinnamon roll. Sometimes I even order coffee from them especially if I arrive in the morning. A few times when I showed up at Cinnabon I noticed one of the employees would be in the process of kneading the dough, flattening the dough, spreading the cinnamon, and rolling the dough in the the shape of a cinnamon roll. It is really interesting in watching the employee at work...if only I remembered to video the process. Maybe next time. Did you know Cinnabon first opened its doors in 1985? I remember being introduced to it in the early 90's in my hometown. They were plopped right in the main entranceway of Del Amo Mall in Torrance, Cali. But I think since then I haven't really had one of these delicious bites of heaven. Located in Ala Moana Shopping Center. This is on the bottom floor along w the rest of the food court. This is right next to Splash. There is two entrances to this store. One inside the food court and one from the outside of the parking lot. Upon entering, It's pretty straight forward everything is laid right out in front of you. The store is rather small and narrow. There isn't much space to maneuver. If there's other customers looking or in line, it's a bit of a hassle to get around them & even more so when it's busy. The workers are nice. I forget her name, Kathleen? I know it started with a 'K' lol. But she was really sweet and informative. I let her know i didn't want it to be cold. She was patient but yet fast and efficient. I have no complaints about this store whatsoever except the fact that it does feel cramped. Anyways, We ordered a box of the big sized rolls. They do sell it in the smaller sized rolls as well, i'm not sure for what price as i wasn't worried about it. But i thought it was neat. I asked for the box & she made sure to grab me hot ones. My partner ordered extra "sauce" / frosting that come in little side cups. I think it's .75 each. I mean i personally wouldn't pay almost a dollar for more frosting. Came to the mall with the entire tribe. I tried to buy a six pack which is $15.99. I was told I'd have to wait 20 minutes. There were 3 full pans right in front so I asked why they couldn't just give me six of those. She said "because those are hot, I have to charge you individual." I love Cinnabon, I come rarely because each cinnamon roll is like 1000 calories, so when I got it's special. The lady that took my order was RUDE. She was a blonde, I think had curly hair, short. Was working Thursday night on May 2nd around 8pm. She got my order wrong multiple times & when I corrected her, she acted like I was an inconvenience. Like it isn't her job to take my order. I order a Caramel Pecan roll, like syrup extra pecans. She was taking so long that the guy walked over and boxed it for me. She said "extra pecans", but forgot the "light syrup", so I said "light syrup" & she ignored me. I said it again, she ignored me, so I bypassed her and told the man & he did the light syrups. It's literally been over 21 years since my husband and I have had Cinnabon. While doing our usual tandem drive by drop off / pick up at a neighboring shop, my husband and I simultaneously gave each other the thumbs up for some cinnamon rolls. Upon entering the curbside entrance at the Diamond Head / Makai edge of Makai Market, I was immediately greeted by an attentive staff member which is the reason for the 3-stars. Scanning over the trays of freshly baked cinnamon rolls and pre-packed boxes, I glanced up at the menu and pricing, then asked about the ones in the pre-packed boxes. After clarifying that the pre-packed boxes were a slightly better value ($4.69 per piece versus $3.50 per piece in the 4-pack), as well as being reassured that the cinnamon rolls had been freshly made that morning (it was 11:00am), the gal allowed me to select my own box before paying. The noticeable difference between what I remember Cinnabon from 21 years ago to the ones from today are 1) not enough rise in the dough which made for improperly thin and very flat layers...maybe this was an isolated batch...2) the absence of ooey gooeiness from what I remember them to be 3) the source of cinnamon they use is unpleasantly SPICY with a flavor that unfortunately falls flat like this batch of dough 4) as much as I'm aware that frosting melts into oven fresh baked goods, there's clearly a light hand on the frosting on each end product roll...my bad for forgetting to inquire if more could be given on the side. Overall, my husband and I were glad we could say we gave Cinnabon a try after all these years. However, we both agree, we won't be patronizing Cinnabon any time soon. Even the 2-1/2 leftover rolls in the freezer will take some time before we'll have a desire for another off-diet splurge of this less than desirable treat. read more
