Management should be ashamed of themselves for subjecting guests to, and destroying images, that for years, have fueled the desire to one day eat in such an iconic place with a storied past. The Maitre d', seemed disgruntled that my party arrived and interrupted their conversations. The (3) waiters that tended to our table, I don't think ever attended culinary etiquette classes. Reaching across the table to serve a salad! Really? Drinks never offered, when they did arrive they were never refilled. My 5 year old just wanted Chicken (nuggets) & fries. "Please put this in first, so we can keep him occupied" parents will understand this!! About thirty minutes later our waiter wished to take our meal order, finally! "Oh and for the young man what will he have? Seriously!!!!!!!! "CHICKEN NUGGETS"......... Another 45 minutes later our meals arrived. Mediocre at best. Not complaining about the $34.95 for a Strip Steak, but please give me a little value for money. went here for Dine LA, and was a bit underwhelmed. ehh..maybe expecting too much for a Beverly Hills restaurant. decent new york type ambiance, but just a tad too dark for a restaurant. maybe more to help the folks at the bar with their beer googles. just not my type of cool. nice attentive wait staff. outdoor pool area can be seen through the restaurant's glass walls which added to this "cool" factor. the food was just ok as higher end restaurants go...my steak was a bit overcooked, but the rest of the dishes were pretty good. i remember the food was interesting..they put ingredients that were a bit unexpected. i especially liked the appetizers, maybe b/c i actually remember them before being dizzy with wine. for a $34 fixed menu, it was a pretty good deal. if it weren't for dineLA however, i don't think i'd go here again as it really wasn't that impressive. read more

Just ate a scrumptious brunch here for my first time. My gfs have been here many times using the Travelzoo AYCE brunch for 4 people for $129. Those is the oldest hotel I'm that area, but the upkeep is very modern and pretty. I had an omelet where you pick your own toppings, freshmade waffles, cocktail shrimp, scallops, lobster claws, three different salads, and delicious tomatoes. The desserts looked so good. I must've have taken at least ten pieces. Service was great and attentive. I will definitely head back even if it's a bit of a drive for me. read more

Just like the 5 people in front of me, I redeemed a travelzoo voucher about 2 weeks ago. I waited too long to make a reservation but was courteously seated by the hostess when we got to the check in desk. Our server/service was exactly what I would expect from a place like the Beverly Hilton. Once we were seated within a minute we had glasses full of champagne and menus in our hand. The restaurant has a nice ambiance and sits right inside of the pool area. Our order was placed within 5 minutes and then we hit the buffet. The buffet had a nice offering from fresh fruit, to waffles, to an omelette station. If you order the prix fixe meal in conjunction with the buffet, I would caution on grabbing too much from the buffet, because the amount of food that comes out from the kitchen is enough to satisfy someone with a very large appetite. The quality of the food and presentation as it was delivered from the kitchen was impressive. Our glasses of champagne were never empty and the server was extremely attentive. The dessert tray offer 5 or 6 different items and all of them were to die for. After this wonderful experience I will definitely be back. read more

Nothing cures a hangover like enjoying the breakfast buffet from Circa 55 poolside at the Beverly Hilton. We had comped continental breakfast from staying at the Hotel, and upgraded to Hot Breakfast for only $10 more. The wait staff was extremely friendly and took care of our every request. For any four star hotel, the brunch overall is sub par. For Beverly Hilton, it's a shame. We came with another family for our holiday get together. With the Travelzoo deal we were supposed to be able to order a starter, entrée, and shared dessert, on top of the breakfast buffet there. After we sat down, we learned that starter and dessert were in the buffet now, we could only order the entrée. And the menu has just been changed. Some of the good entrées, like Shrimp Scampi, were gone. What's worse was that the entrées we ordered were terrible. The salmon was not fresh and tasteless. The steak was not cooked right and we had to send it back to the kitchen. The foods in the buffet were just average, nothing more or better than a regular breakfast buffet. The only thing I enjoyed was the salad bar, but they couldn't even provide a decent cheese platter. Overall this is a disappointing experience. read more

Went to Circa 55 for lunch on 2.21.15 and it was very disappointing. The server was gone for long lengths of time, we had to ask over and over again for our dishes to be cleared when we were done eating and one of the workers broke a glass behind me and instead of picking up the glass that hit me and the other lady sitting at the table next to me, he just kicked it under the table and stand that was next too us. Sunday Champagne Brunch ~ Wish i couldn't take back the one star and the forced Gratuity tax! Celebrating with Husband & brother in a elegant restaurant, who would ever expect the Hilton to have the worst service EVER? We were charged to pay a gratuity tax of $45 dollars (partial tax on $110 Brunch vouchers) it was paid to avoid a blow up with my brother and i didn't want to come off too cheap. They did not deserve it. Since wasn't so busy we were seated rather quickly, gave our vouchers to them and our orders for our starter, entrees and beverage (champagne of course!) were shortly taken. Starter dishes not cleaned up by the time of the buffet trip, buffet dishes not taken at time of entree plates brought, our table was too packed, we were stacking plates on plates. Servers walked by as if they had blinders on, always with there heads down. But i felt as though other were getting better service. Now IF we were making 2 to 3 trips to the buffet, I could see maybe a couple dishes on the sides,but we all only when once. I had 3 glasses of champagne, 2 of those glasses I had to stop a server and request for a refill. REALLY? read more

Stayed at Beverly Hilton and had dinner here first night. Server was very friendly and food was good. Only complaint is we got our drinks gave our order and food came out about 1 minute after. It must have been pre made. We were not able to even take a sip of our drinks or even butter the bread. I said to the server "Are you kidding" and she joked they like to bring out food fast. Because of this we decided not to order another drink or desert. This is great if you were McDonalds but not a nice restaurant that you want to enjoy dinner. read more

first of all, i was tempted to give this 5 stars to try to balance out what i thought were some overly harsh reviews, but i decided against it in the name of honesty--but just something to keep in mind as you read some of the past reviews. we enjoyed a lovely dinner here tonight, courtesy of dinela--thanks! we probably wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise, at least not the 3 course meal we had, which was scrumptious. the decor was what i nickname 'updated retro,' that basically says, 'we're old school, but not old'. guess that explains the name of the restaurant. very nice and understated. we had an early dinner, so it was not crowded; just relaxed and an intimate ambience. we shared: the salad/crabcake, steak/halibut, chocolate plate/passion fruit creme brulee. all of which, except the salad, was excellent. the salad was fine, but i will have to agree with the others that the tofu 'croutons' were probably a bit too experimental for my taste even (and i'm asian). even hubby loved the crabcake and that's unusual. our steak was perfectly medium rare, the halibut perfectly flaky on the inside with just a bit of a crispness under the furikake crust. in fact, the wasabi sauce from the halibut actually complemented the bleu cheese with the steak (can you tell we shared plates?). personally, i loved the chocolate 'soup', but i'm partial to chocolate with a hint of cinnamon--the mexican chocolate idea, you know? the chocolate opera cake was only okay, but i've never actually had an opera cake i liked--i always find them overly dry. the chocolate thyme mousse was PERFECT. it was almost like a fine wine. the first taste has just the slightest hint of thyme, and then a rich middle note of chocolate, almost like truffle or ganache, ending with a lighter chocolate flavor. both of us loved it. the creme brulee had a yummy chocolate crust which was perhaps a little overwhelming for the passion fruit flavor, but delicious nonetheless. the service was very nice--unobtrusive, but very attentive. it seems like many were disappointed by the menu change...to be honest i forgot what they had originally stated they were going to serve, so i was not bothered by the 'surprise.' i was only pleasantly surprised by how great the overall experience was and very pleased that i got such a steal, thanks to dinela. would still come back! read more

decided to try lunch here today for restaurant week. we got there and were seated very promptly. the servers were attentive and we were served quickly. everything appeared on our table without us having to ask for it. i loved the bread basket here - there were several varieities, and i wish i had room to try them all! the decor and atmosphere were lovely. classy, not too crowded or loud. great for conversation. there were 3 of us, so we decided to get one of each appetizer and dessert and share it amongst ourselves. the soup was good, it was tomato-ish with little bits of crab. the arugula with artichoke was good, with a light vinegarette dressing. perhaps the best of the three was the bruschetta - the tomato and cheese were light and fresh, and the bread was toasted to perfection. it was also topped off with some dressing wich added a nice, pleasant flavor. two of us got the salmon for our entree. it was cooked perfectly - tender and well-done, but not overdone - and flavored nicely (just enough to give it some punch). it came on top of a bed of beans and had a topping of finely chopped veggies, both of which were an excelent complement to the fish. my other friend got the vegetable primavera which was excellent. the sauce was awesome, and the seasoning for the vegetables was delicious. but the highlight of the meal had to be the dessert, by far. my orange panna cotta was refreshing. it was the perfect mix of creamy and tangy. the flourless chocolate ganache was heavenly - rich and decadent, without being too sweet or overwhelming. a chocolate lover's dream! the cheesecake was absolutely delicious as well - perfectly rich, with the best crust, and surrounded by a wall of sliced strawberries. so good. i was so full after the first two courses, but i did not want to stop eating my dessert! it was a perfect, lovely lunch :) read more

Went for Restaurant Week, so they had a $22 Fixed Price menu lunch. Absolutely no excuse for the super SLOOOOWWWWW service. The point of the Fixed Price is that it's ready to go and you know you're going to get X number. It was two hours + for lunch. Lots of blue hairs from Beverly Hills roll down for lunch, so it's not really a hopping joint (at least for lunch). Nice atmosphere near the pool. Mushroom appetizer was ok. Kobe beef burger ordered medium, was overcooked. Apple pie dessert was meh, plus no option for whipped cream or a la mode. read more

I had the tenderloin for my main course and it was nothing special. Ehhh..... Came here for Valentine's Day dinner, they had a set menu, but we opted out of it..details later! So first off, valet with validation is 7 dollars! The restaurant is located on the lower level where the pool is. They called us when we were a little late to ask if we were still coming, we said yes. When we got there they asked us for a name..then it still took us 5 minutes to be seated..it wasn't busy at all and there were tons of tables available..okay.. Afterwards, they sat us down at a small table, no one acknowledged us for another 5 minutes and by that time I was pretty frustrated. There were tons of tables available and workers as well. When our server finally came we asked if we could move to the outdoor seating area, they said yes and when they moved us our server came right away. However, he didn't attend to us much at all. It was cold and I asked for the heat lamp to be turned on since all the other ones but that one was turned on, he said sure....10 minutes passed and he was busy doing other stuff I guess so I had to ask 2 more people to do it..they eventually got it. I hate asking for stuff more than once at a restaurant, I mean sure we forget sometimes but if I have to ask at least 3 times? It shows what kind of service the establishment has. Throughout the night, he never came to check up on us or ask us if we needed anything, we always had to call him over if we wanted to order or needed anything else. What we ordered: so we were going to get one set menu and also order off the menu since the set menu didn't look too appetizing. However, our waiter informed us that if we did that we would be charged an extra 50 dollars because of the dessert buffet...which only had like 8 different kinds of dessert..okay..so we opted for ordering off the regular menu instead. Lobster Mac and Cheese: It was good, but it wasn't creamy at all! There was hardly any lobster, and I was basically eating macaroni with milk. Seriously, there was no cheese at all. This dish was a disappointment for my first time trying Lobster Mac & Cheese. Garlic Albacore Tuna: This was one better than the Mac & Cheese. It had an oily dressing that reminds me of something to do with the Thai cuisine. It comes with microgreens, and 4-5 thin slices of tuna..remind me to stick to Japanese restaurants if I want my fish. It came on a crunchy thin chip. Steak Filet: I asked for in between medium rare and medium...it was medium, I didn't want to send it back so I just ate it. It came on a plate of vegetables that were gross. Roasted red peppers, asparagus, and pee wee potatoes, the potatoes were probably the best since it was soft. I couldn't taste the chimichurri at all..you should consider putting that sauce on the side and use as a dipping sauce instead. I didn't eat any of the vegetables, and I gave half of my steak to my boyf. New York Steak: This one was cooked the way I wanted it and he asked it to be cooked the same as me! This one in my opinion was better, but it came with this disgusting grits and butternut squash. Seriously the texture of these grits were like uncooked rice with some soft oatmeal mixed in.. The best part of the meal was probably the comp bread, it had some cheese sprinkled on top. Pretty dissapointing Valentine's Day Dinner..I went to eat ramen afterwards. read more

We went here with some friends for Sunday Brunch. We were warmly greated and received excellent service from the host staff. We chose to wait for an outdoor table, and I am glad we did. As soon as we sat down they popped a bottle of Prosecco for us. Talk about quick service. We ordered and off to the buffet. The buffet was a much bigger spread than I anticipated. It was excellent, full of almost anything you could possibly want. I also ordered a waffle for my meal. It was warm, light and fluffy. Needless to say, we left full and happy. Really really horrible food. Staff is nice but the chef has probably never cooked food before in his or her life as much of it was inedible. The sausage patties were burned to destruction. Tasted like trying to eat wood. The oysters had been sitting so long they were room temperature and all of the liquid had evaporated, the plus side was it came with a mouthful of crunchy oyster shell, I spit it out immediately. The prime rib looked shrunken and sad on the carving board, the taste revealed it had been cooked at least a half hour past it's time. I Spent over $200 for two people for inedible food. There are so many amazing restaurants in Los Angeles with food you can actually swallow, consider that when deciding if you would like to eat here. Update they have invited me back for a free meal which was nice enough for a bump up in the review. read more
