Circle sushi is one of my fave restaurants so we decided to try out Circle Noodle as well. We ordered the Japanese curry rice with katsu chicken, the kakuni udon, and the nabeyaki udon during lunchtime to go. The restaurant itself is very small and homey. The waitress was very sweet and friendly when I arrived to pick up the order. It was already getting to be busy so I can see this place is pretty popular! The curry rice with katsu chicken was okay. The curry sauce was more soup-like and very mild in spice. It did come with potatoes, onions, zucchini and corn so that's a plus. It was not spicy at all though. The chicken katsu was perfection. It tasted really amazing with the sauce and rice. I would probably not get this next time though. The nabeyaki udon was deliciously light and flavorful. I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the dishes but everything was packaged very nicely. The broth was so good and the udon noodles were homemade. Loved this udon! The kakuni udon was more on the heavy side, and the broth was very seasoned and much thicker. I actually prefer the nabeyaki broth over this one. Circle Noodle is located off Holcomb Bridge Road in a huge shopping plaza right next to Taqueria Tsunami and Foundation Social Eatery. It's a tiny little shop and was hard for us to spot (it didn't help that a huge delivery truck was parked right in front of it), so look for Foundation Social Eatery. We came on a Saturday night around 6PM and they weren't busy at all. We were allowed to seat ourselves. Service was friendly, but very slow for how not at all busy they were. We were checked on only for taking our orders and bringing our food. We tried the Purple Kari Kari Gyoza, Nabeyaki Udon, Circle Bukkake Udon, and Bukkake Udon Japanese style. Their menu is pretty impressive. They have a wide variety of dishes to please any palate. Prices are pretty standard for noodle dishes. The gyoza came out only minutes before our entrees, so we had to do some creative stacking to get everything to fit. Our server didn't bother taking our appetizer dishes from us or really bussing any of our unnecessary plates, even though we had stacked them for her. We all got our own dishes, but wound up passing around all of them, since none of them were too appetizing, except the Bukkake Udon Japanese style. Presentation was on point. Totally picture perfect. But the dishes were just lacking flavor. We decided to add on the green tea milkshake to our order, since we'd heard good things about it. We probably should've just gone there for the milkshake. It tasted so refreshing and was full of flavor. When we were ready to go, we just gave our card as soon as our server brought the check, without even looking at the bill, because it took so long to flag her down. Overall, I probably wouldn't return unless I really wanted that green tea milkshake. Might be a big statement, but when it comes to udon noodles, Circle Noodle is simply the best. They are located in a very trendy shopping center and are close neighbors to Foundation Social Eatery, which is another favorite of mine. Circle Noodle is small but elegant. When you enter you get the feeling of dining in a gastronomic Italian or French restaurant, but actually you're in a place whose sole focus is on Japanese cuisine with a hint of fusion. The seating arrangements are limited, this place can fill up fast because of it. The kitchen is exposed and you can sort of get a view of all the action behind the scenes. The menu is simple. You have your appetizers, I definitely recommend the Purple Gyoza dumplings. You have some drinks, the Green Tea milkshake is amazing. Finally you have your udon noodles, served a few varieties and styles, both traditional and modern. Take a look at the menu for all the details. Highly recommend trying out the modern udon options if you want something a bit different than the ordinary. What sets the udon noodles at Circle apart from the competition is the quality of the ingredients and richness of the broth. Each bowl of udon noodles is crafted and pleasing to the eyes. This is how udon should taste. Even the bowls you eat in themselves felt like there was some thought put into the design. The service was excellent during my visit. The chef himself would actually bring out all the orders. He also advised us to have the milkshake after our udon noodles to add to the flavor of the drink. One thing I noticed is that each table has a row of paper towels and not those cheap napkins you normally see at a restaurant. Think about how much cost goes into buying paper towel instead of napkins. This is quality and thoughtfulness a lot of places do not consider. Overall, this is going to be my standard bearer when it comes to udon now whenever I eat it, at least in the state of GA. As of now I have it ranked right at the top. Just remember, a lot of Japanese restaurant serve udon noodles in the state but not that many have it as their main focus, which is why Circle Noodle shines bright. read more

Udon has been growing in popularity back in Japan again due to a new interesting ways of prep. If you are looking for Ramen, not the place yet. If you want to try some new style (classic available too), stop by here. Udon is not has heavy in flavor as Ramen, but some good choices here. We tried two kinds this trip: Kakuni Udon: Hot classic udon with chashu-like bacon. This was a miss in my opinion, Kakuni was not that good in my opinion. Circle Bukkake: Cold Style, really good and worth a try in my opinion. Kari Kari Purple Gyoza: Tasty, purple, and crisp pan fried steamed Gyoza. The only vegetarian option they have is udon noodles in a homemade tomato sauce. Their veg udon uses animal broth. This udon with tomato sauce came with an animal liquid addition but we asked them to leave it out.... For this dish there's no flavor and it's sad so I wouldn't recommend this noodle house for a vegetarian. Circle Noodle is a tiny noodle shop in the Roswell area. I'm guessing it's from the same people who brought us Circle Sushi. I mean, it has to. It's in the same area, and it has the same name and logo. So they're probably sister restaurants. Circle Sushi's udon tasted pretty good. So it's exciting for them to open a whole new place just for udon. The place looked small and felt cold inside. Seriously, we came in when the temperature was in the mid 40's, and it was freezing in there. I'm sure the hot broths makes the place hot in the kitchen. But the dining area was super-cold. I hope that's not the norm. That lowered our enjoyment of the place. They have a ton of different types of udon from traditional, modern, cold, hot, and so on. Besides udon, they also have some grilled fish and a few appetizers. Unlike Circle Sushi, they DON'T have any raw fish. So don't come in expecting any. For appetizer, I tried the agedashi tofu. I thought the tofu was nicely deep-fried with a crispy skin. The sauce and everything made it taste fine. For the udons, I tried one of their traditional and one of their modern udons: the Kakuni udon for the modern and the Zenbu Udon for the traditional. The Zenbu udon comes with 5 chef's choice of toppings. We got tempura, soft boiled egg, spinach, and other stuff I can't remember. I loved the broth in this. It was light and flavorful. It tasted very traditional and familiar. The egg was spot on. And the tempuras were crispy and delicious. The Kakuni Udon was great as well. The broth came our super dense. The broth was so thick, it felt like it had a ton of fat and collagen. It was very flavorful and delicious. It had sweet, savory, and umami flavors. The braised pork belly was fatty and good. The noodles were springy and yummy as well. I also tried their hamachi kama (yellowtail cheeks). A huge portion came out, perfectly cooked. The meat was tender and seasoned well. It melted off the bone and was tasty. The server, who seems to run the whole show, seemed sweet and helpful. She was the only one at the front of the house. But since the place was small, she was able to hustle and run the entire place. Circle Noodle is a great place for udon. I'm glad they didn't do the trendy thing and open up a ramen place. It was a bit hard to find at first because it had no big overhead sign like all the other establishments. It ended up being right next to a large nail salon. It had a clean modern feel inside with pops of color, and simple but elegant artwork. We were just needing some food to tide us over so we shared the Kakuni pork udon and mixed tempura. The mixed tempura had a great batter on it, not overly dipped and heavy. The tempura dipping sauce also had a good flavor. At many places it can be diluted and bland. The udon broth had a nice full flavor as well, and the noodles had a perfect chew on them. My main issue was the meat. The fat on pork belly if cooked right can allow for a tender cut, and although it broke apart at least, the meat was a bit dry. It made me think of if you don't release then steam in pressure cooker properly, the moisture from the meat can get sucked out leaving a similar effect. Overall I enjoyed my food, udon can seem simple but it is one of the hardest things for me to find done perfectly, so they were more close than not. This small little place in the corner of the shopping mall is so easy to walk past and not notice a thing unfortunately because once you step inside, it's like a wave of coziness washes over you from the small yet invitingly decorated interior. I luckily was able to get in one day during their restricted hours probably due to COVID and was kindly presented a menu by a very sweet waiter which surprised me with so many authentic Japanese and unique Japanese Fusion dishes but alas, I could only order the Nabeyaki Udon with Assorted Tempura and the Kari Kari Gyoza with a small, quaint little Green Tea Milkshake... Came here early on Sunday Morning for lunch with a friend since we were looking for some noodle dishes but were tired of the common pho for breakfast/lunch routine. We got here around 30min after it happened up for the day and where the first 2 people inside the restaurant. It's a very small restaurant with seating available for about 20 people at max capacity but being this small means it's also very clean and you're attended to fairly quickly. We were immediately seated and our waitress offered us both hot tea and water which was really nice since there was no extra charge for the tea. Their menus are well organized with each different type of udon dish in its own category. I went with the Zenbu udon but swapped out the chicken that's included for pork instead since I am not a huge fan of chicken flavored broths. It was an extra $2 to the already $15 price but I knew it'd be worth it. The Zenbu includes 6 omakase toppings so I was really excited to find out what all would be included. After about 10min we were finally given our steaming hot udon dishes. The Zenbu udon came in a somewhat small bowl compared to the one my friend so I was a little worried it may not fill me up. I was completely wrong. The toppings I received such as the soft boiled egg, dumplings, shrimp and crab tempura all stacked up to fill the huge hole in my stomach. My favorite of all being the dumplings since the broth of my udon bursted inside my mouth with each bite I took. This was easily one of the best bowls of noodles I've ever had! We were lucky we got here when we did because by the time we finished the restaurant was at max capacity. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that I just love noodles in general... but Circle Noodle is one of my favorite restaurants. I've been several times and have tried an assortment of udon ranging from kakuni to curry. I would suggest starting off with the agedashi tofu, the chicken kaarage, or the purple gyoza. They're all really good. The broths associated with the types of udon are unique and match the profile of the dish. The noodles are soft yet chewy, has the right amount of give and tastes wonderful. The interior space is tiny with limited seating so go early if you're going to hit it for lunch. I love spaces like these though, small enough for one person to manage the floor. One day, I hope they add ramen and other stuff to the menu, but I have no complaints. Next time, fish! read more

I went for lunch during the week and the restaurant was surprisingly empty which was fine by me....more personal service! Since I was feeling a little under the weather and the weather outside was gloomy this was the perfect day to have some piping hot udon noodles. I decided to go with the traditional Nabeyaki Udon which came with a side of tempura. The Udon came out steaming hot and took 10 minutes to cool down before I could finally eat it. The bowl was loaded with noodles, spinach, mushroom and chicken. I opted not to have the egg as poached egg just grosses me out a bit. The tempura was excellent, just lightly battered and not oily at all. It was a nice side accompaniment to the noodles. I came here on a weeknight and it was decently crowded. There was a TV that was paying sports that was really high up and hurt your neck to look at. I was able to pick where I sat and chose the corner table. There were so many good, unique choices on the menu that I had a hard time deciding. I ended up starting with the purple cabbage gyoza which were no nicely presented and was a good amount of food. You could definitely taste the cabbage but it wasn't as overpowering as I thought it would be. I also got the Kakuni Udon, which was a hot udon with bacon like meat. I brought my Mother here for Mother's Day (actually the day after Mother's Day). We both ordered the Nabeyaki Udon. It came with tempura shrimp, tempura potatoes, tempura okra, and tempura sweet potato. The soup tureen was very hot and stayed hot throughout the meal. It was flavorful and filling. Circle Noodle in Roswell is my newest addiction whenever i'm craving for chewy noodles and nice hot broth. I have visited this place twice now and have order the following: -Agedashi Tofu; Great sauce and fluffy tofu. -Zenbu Modern Noodle, comes with 6 difference omakase toppings. This bowl of noodle comes with soft shell crab tempura, shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, okra tempura and another veggie tempura. In the noodle, there is one purple dumpling, chicken and spinach. This was light, refreshing and so good. Highly recommend. ($15) -Niku Udon. This bowl have mushroom, onion, spinach and thin slices of pork belly. Light and lots of proteins/veggies. ($11) -Green Tea Milkshake ($5) I really enjoyed the Zenbu noodle with all the tempura (especially the soft shell crab) and the green tea milkshake. I cannot wait to come back and try other dishes! Circle Noodle is a great neighborhood find. It is definitely no frills and I think more people had takeout than dine-in while I was there. They have an extensive menu of possible udon noodle dishes and a great selection of appetizers. We started with the Circle Q and loved it as an appetizer. My friend got the Nabeyaki and I got the soft shell crab noodles. The flavor of the broth and veggies was good but the soft shell crab itself was not very flavorful and difficult to eat. There is plenty of parking in the lot and it is a small restaurant next to some much larger ones in the plaza. The service was friendly and quick. A very good place to eat Japanese udon and udon-fusion dishes. I had the pleasure of trying two dishes on my visit. I ordered the Shrimp Tempura Udon and my wife had ordered the Kakuni Udon. Shrimp Tempura Udon comes with three big pieces of shrimp tempura and tempura sauce. It's simply a Kake Udon (Sanuki udon soup) with shrimp tempura. The udon broth (don't really know how it's made, but I know it's soy sauce based) with scallions and half a mushroom (don't know what kind). The noodle soup had a delicate hint of soy sauce and savoriness to it. Visually and taste-wise the dish was very simple. None of the ingredients overpowered each other. There was this understanding of balance within each flavor. Then adding the lightly crisped shrimp tempura was a good addition to the overall entree. This is what I like about Japanese dishes. Simple presentation but the harmony in the flavors. Kakuni (Berkshire Kurobuta pork) Udon, as stated on the menu is slow cooked braised pork served in a thick broth (more like a sauce). I didn't really like the taste of this dish. Definitely different from the traditional udon. Presentation-wise looked pretty good but I didn't like the overpowering taste of the pork and the gelatinous texture of the entire dish. In contrast, my wife loved the dish. read more

I think because I grew up on Udon, it's really hard for me to really "love" it when it's not made at home. Parking - There's a huge lot. You *might* have to park further away, but an extra 10 steps won't kill you. Space - Small. I'd come at an off time. I can only imagine this place gets slammed at peak hours. I got the Curry Udon - it was ok. Very filling if you're pretty hungry. I think I prefer to have this type of Curry with regular rice. The Noodles were overcooked. The curry also had no real zing to it. Get the green tea shake at the end. Worth the money and solid. I actually drank 75% of it when my bf got it, lol. read more

Been here several times and the food quality is very consistent. Today I had Niku Udon, very tasteful! Niku Udon is under Modern Udon on their menu. Has thin sliced pork, sautéed onion, spinach and mushrooms. I added chili pepper and it boosted the taste. The cost is a little bit higher, $11 for Niku Udon, and could be up to $15 for some traditional Udon. The quantity was ok. I felt satisfied and not too full with 1 bowl of Niku Udon. The service here is good too. They have hot tea (Japanese Green Mocha tea) as complimentary drinks. A big plus. A lot of parking outside since this store is located in a big shopping plaza. It might look dark and closed but GO INSIDE! You won't regret it. Husband heard this was a good place for noodles and was authentic, so he took me here. We seriously almost didn't go in because it was so dark I couldn't tell they were open! But then someone went inside and we followed suit. My original impression of Japanese noodles was that they were more solid and I wasn't sure how I felt about eating chewy thick noodles. Oh god how wrong I was! The noodles were like yummy clouds! I cannot describe the noodles any other way. Not too thick and chewy but also not falling apart to mush. The broth was flavorful and warmed the soul. I would also recommend the gyoza appetizer. They seem to be purple from cabbage used in them! My husband and I really enjoyed the flavor and the crunchy and chewy texture of the gyoza. The sauce they provide is very good. I was so satisfied with my meal and would absolutely return! Service was kind and attentive. We never went without anything. Put me down as a way-too-late adopter to this wonderful little establishment. Do note Circle has 10 tables (at most). This noodle shop has the most unctous and sublime pork belly to ever grace an udon noodle bowl in this town. The broth, not over salty or fatty, is made with confidence and has great balance of flavor. I did add a poached egg to make the last half of my bowl a velvety delight. The taro based gyozas are what I'd imagine Prince noshing upon on a rainy day. I worried it would be chalky or over-sweet. My fears were quickly allayed. Simple, clean, and oh so violet! Just like Circle Sushi, Circle Noodle is perfectly hidden in the same shopping center as Foundation Social Eatery, a popular spot for Alpharetta/Roswell residents. There is/was little to no marketing of Circle Noodle, other than a small sign that said "opening soon" back in the day. I only remembered its existence when my friend suggested we meet here for dinner last week. On a warmer than usual fall day, it was a little humid and hot in the restaurant. There were a lot of fans on - perhaps the AC just isn't that good. Our waitress was incredibly friendly. Overall service was good. We ordered a few things including the tempura (which in hindsight was not a good idea, given my Nabeyaki Udon came with it), agedashi tofu, and gyoza. The gyoza here is pretty legit - it's filled with purple goodness and doesn't look like the frozen kind you might get somewhere else. A plate of 6 was good for 2 people. The agedashi tofu left much to be desired - wasn't anywhere close to being as good as some of the places I've had it - the tofu was too firm for my liking. The tempura was standard - the pumpkin is usually my favorite. It comes with two shrimp. They have a selection of both traditional and more "modern" udon noodle entrees. I like to keep it simple when it comes to noodle soup. For my entree, I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon - it came out piping hot and with lots of goodies in it, including a side of tempura. We were so tempuraed out at this point, but it was still good. The texture of the udon was on point as was the taste of the broth. Not too salty, not too bland - just right. It seemed like a lot of the people in the restaurant ordered some sort of curry udon as well. I tried my friend's shrimp curry udon and though I don't typically like my dishes to be inundated with curry, this curry was light enough to be enjoyable and not too strong. For dessert, we ordered the matcha/green tea milkshakes - YUM. These were surprisingly delicious - there was a nice balance of both green tea and natural vanilla taste. Would get this again. Overall, a nice meal at a very reasonable price and an excellent choice for udon - can't think of another place that specializes specifically in udon noodle dishes. read more

Wow. This place is amazing. I was hesitant about a highly rated Asian restaurant in Alpharetta, as I've become snobby growing up in LA. But, it lives up to its high ratings and exceeded my expectations. You should definitely eat here if you have a mouth and a tongue. I had a hard time deciding which bowl to get and finally settled on the Niku udon. It was amazing. I *literally* (in my best Chris Traeger voice) ate everything in the bowl and on the table. The purple pot stickers are delicious and the tempura soft boiled egg is fantastic. They were out of the green tea milkshake, which is unfortunate because I've heard it likened to the addictive nature of crack. If the vanilla milkshake is any indication, I will have to make sure I come back soon to try it. I'll... Circle back, as some may say. read more

Circle Sushi is one of those legendary word of mouth restaurants... You don't know it exists until someone else tells you about it, and when you do eat there it's all you can do to not tell every person you meet about what an amazing gem it is. When I found out they were opening a sister restaurant just a few miles from my office, you better believe I was all over it! Circle Noodle opened in the "Connexion Holcomb Bridge" shopping center earlier this year, sandwiched into a tiny space between two other fantastic restaurants - Foundation Social Eatery and Taqueria Tsunami. It's literally a hole in the wall, flanked by much larger spaces. There are probably only 10 or so tables in the whole place, with one waitress and a small group efficiently operating a small open kitchen. Whatever the case was with the early reviews really seems to have worked itself out. My experience was fantastic, and I've been thinking about it since the last bite! Service was SO FRIENDLY. (Not annoying/hovering "friendly" but legitimately thoughtful and helpful.) I was excited to finally try Circle Noodle so I over-ordered a little bit, and had: - Purple Kari Kari Gyoza ($5 for 6 pcs; handmade crispy pot stickers filled with ground pork, purple cabbage, and chives, wrapped in a thin dough). Not only are these potstickers so pretty (see pics), they're also quite tasty! I love this pan-frying method where the pan crisp is served with the dumplings. It's a nice textural / flavorful element. Would absolutely order these again! - Carbonara ($14; udon with parmesan reggiano, bacon from Patak Meat Products, and an egg): Honestly, my first thought? There's no way this will work. It was pretty, but portion wasn't too big, and I was immediately concerned about a creamy Italian sauce served on large udon noodles. Literally the second I took the first bite though, all I thought was WOWZA. This is a fantastic dish, and you get so full from the perfectly chewy, firm udon that the portion actually seems large by the time you get to the bottom. I will 100% order this again and have already told like nine different people about it. Trust me here: just order it. - Zaru Udon ($5.50; chilled noodles served on a bamboo tray and served with a cold dipping sauce, freshly grated ginger, and green onions). This one was interesting. It's really a summery dish to me, with the chilled noodles and sauce, and the zesty-ness of that fresh ginger. It's served deconstructed, with the noodles on a woven bamboo tray (called a zaru), a separate cup of dipping sauce, and a third cup with the fresh ginger and green onion. The waitress explained you are supposed to slide the noodles off of the tray into the dish below, and then can either add sauce / toppings and eat it all out of the bowl, or you can dip the noodles in the sauce and toppings. I just went for it and dumped everything in one bowl and had absolutely no regrets. I'll definitely be back!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised to find out Circle Sushi opened up this noodle place! Nice little restaurant that would make a great lunch destination or even a casual dinner date place to go. Modern decor.. fluent English speaking staff and of course, great food! read more

I love Circle noodle because not only do they have authentic, traditional udon noodle soups, but they have options with modern twists as well. I've tried that Kakuni (braised pork belly) and Nabeyaki (chicken with a side of tempura) and the Kakuni was definitely the better choice. Bonus: they have a green tea milkshake you cannot leave without!!! read more
