I'll start by saying the service was great- I was placing a takeout order but the waitress was still friendly and helped me pick out a few rolls. Prices are decent and they had good variety, but unfortunately the fish wasn't very fresh. I could see at the sushi bar that the salmon looked a little past it's prime, and this was confirmed when the salmon in my rolls was dry, firm and rubbery, which isn't ideal for something that I'm eating raw It might have been an off night and I'm not opposed to trying again, I'd just hope to see fresher fish with better storage conditions read more

Another month end with me having credit to use or lose on Ubereats. Normally I'd look for someplace closer to home, but in this case I had another errand in Alpharetta, so picked SushiMing from the list. I had $50 to burn, so ordered three meals: chirashi don, sushi-sashimi combo, and katsu don. All three came with your typical iceberg salad with ginger dressing and miso soup. Salad was crisp so as good as you can expect; I found the soup a little then compared with others I've tried locally. I'd never ordered katsu don for takeout before, and was surprised to see that the pork cutlet with rice was packaged separate from the egg and onion topping. When mixed though, the dish was quite tasty and pretty much the same as what you'd get served at the table. The sushi-sahimi was quite good; better than you get in Kroger but not up to some of the higher class places (with higher prices). One of the nigiri was a fish I'd never seem or had before. It was thin, grey, and flat with black veins on one side. Rather tasteless too. Chirashi don was my least favorite as their was less fish and more rice than with the combo dish. I much prefer the version served at Kani House. In any case, I would be happy to dine here again if the chance occurs. read more

We've always liked this place but I recently noticed their hours changed. They are very nice people, but with the super tight dining window they now provide, we'll be taking out patronage elsewhere and starting a new relationship. Their open until 9 but you cant sit after 830? Sounds like they close at 830. I also used to order lunch all the time. I did notice they have not been very busy over the past few years. Maybe an indicator of deeper problems. There are so many options in this area that allow flexible hours and have a great product. LA Sushi which is proxomite to this, is an example. Came here after seeing such good reviews. I was torn on my review here. I thought the sushi was very good. My roll did kind of fall apart when I tried to pick it up, which was a little annoying, but it didn't take away from the taste. The rice was nice and moist, and the fish was fresh. They had plenty of options for rolls, and even offered small rolls, which is nice if you aren't that hungry or if you have kids. The restaurant is small, but not cramped. It was nice. They even offer outdoor seating, but sushi is not something I want to eat outside unless it's cold out. For some reason, the waitress really paid attention to the table behind me. She was talking it up and offering them suggestions. But we didn't receive that same service. Maybe they are regulars. My daughter got the miso soup and rice, and it was a very small portion of soup. However, she liked it. I started with the ginger salad, which was pretty good but nothing special. For dinner, I opted for the tuna box sushi, which is a roll that is a rectilinear block. There were 7 pieces for $14.95. My roll consisted of avocado, imitation crab, spicy tuna, masago, spicy mayo, wasabi mayo, eel sauce, and scallion. I had ordered a side of spicy mayo, which I do every sushi place I go. It came in a very small container like one would take home a side of soy sauce. For that mayo, I was charged $1, which seemed excessive for a small sampling of mayo. That was a turnoff for me, because I don't think you should get charged a full dollar for a side of sauce. This place has been open for a little bit over a year now. It's Japanese restaurant that specializes mainly on sushi. I guess you could tell by the name right? To start it's located in rather small shopping strip with only a handful of stores as its neighbors. Access to it involves going through a single lane road that can be congested during rush hours, so just keep that in mind if you are planning to be there at a certain time. The interior is decorated fairly simple with nothing too over the top. You have sushi bar in the back and tables and booths leading up to it. I would say it a medium size restaurant that can sit a decent amount of people. They also have an outside seating area as well if that's what you're interested in. In terms of service, I would say this place is alright. The staff will come by every so often to check on you and see if you need anything, which is good enough for me that they don't come over too often to the point where you can't enjoy your meal peacefully. The menu ranges from sashimi, sushi, or just regular Japanese dishes like Ramen or hibachi if that's fits your palette. I would say the sashimi and sushi tasted very fresh for the most part. I was impressed with that. Most sushi places in GA are either hit or miss when it comes to freshness innthe quality of their seafood. Overall, I had a pretty good experience for my first time visiting. Definitely plan on returning soon when I'm in the area and craving some Japanese food. After initially being a bit taken aback by the prices, we decided to try SushiMing on a whim. We ordered the Geisha Roll, Lion Roll, Shrimp Box and Calamari Roll. We did takeout, and upon arriving at the restaurant to pick up the order, I was a little confused, because I expected a nicer space considering we spent over $70 with tax and tip on four rolls. I tried to keep an open mind and not reprimand myself for making a bad takeout decision until I gave the food a chance, and I must say... the sushi totally delivered. SushiMing is legit. All the rolls were beautifully prepared and tasted every bit as good as they looked. My only criticism is that the speciality rolls were a little bit small. SushiMing isn't a place I would go to all the time (as we've been big fans of Sushi Nami for over a decade... the restaurant itself is far more inviting for dining in), but I would highly recommend giving it a try. read more

This is a cute little sushi place located inside of a shopping center. It's easy to see which storefront they're in because they have a nice patio with outdoor seating and a string of lights above. They have unique appetizers, like salmon poppers- cream cheese and shiso leaves wrapped in salmon and deep fried, and takoyaki - a " Japanese ball-shaped snack with diced octopus. Served with teriyaki sauce, mayo, scallions and bonito flakes on top." In addition to sushi they have ramen, rice, hibachi, and more. I tried the B-52 roll, which is a tuna roll with spicy tuna on top covered with sriracha and jalapeño slices. It was the spiciest sushi I have ever eaten! In anticipation of this I also ordered a more plain roll- a small salmon roll (6 pieces instead of 8). The fish was good quality and the presentation was appealing for both rolls. A little sushi place on McGinnis ferry road, one of the most busy road during rush hour in Alpharetta... I guess I was always trying to rush through this area so I never really noticed there is an awesome place here! Sushiming opened in January 2015, without passing out those cheap looking ads, they attracted customer by quality!!! The owner, Ming and his wife are really cool ppl and they make sure they take care every customer. The restaurant only has about 10 tables, kinda like a family style place but serves with quality sushi. As for food... It's great!! The menu pretty much covers everything! Sushi, ramen, udon, don(rice bowl) and some hot entree (hibachi.. Etc). We had some sort of rice tart thing with crab and shrimp which is pretty good for appetizer. Cucumber river (not sure if I got the name right) is also a very good dish for appetizer, its has cucumber instead of rice and seaweed. It normally comes with some vegetables, but we requested they put some spicy tuna in there. They use organic chicken for their chicken katsu (fried chicken rice bowl), I personally didn't have a chance to try it but the girl ordered it loved it. I order the chirashi don which is basically sashimi on top of a bowl of rice. They cut of fish is very generous, very well presented and good quality of the fish. Very fresh!! My wife ordered the tonkatsu ramen, I wouldn't say the best I ever had... But it's decent!! Good flavor!! The unagi don is also pretty generous, as we all know the eel price is a lot higher than few years ago!! I ask them to keep my homemade cheesecake at the very beginning, cuz we had a birthday girl... At the end, as they brought up, they even do some extra work to make my cake looks even better!!! Over all it's a very good little place right at the corner (for those who lives around johns creek and Alpharetta) we really had a great time there. Highly recommended! FYI, they have live scallops, Uni and some other special stuff depends on the season, or some weekly or daily special that's not on the menu (feel free to ask them). I don't know how this place has good ratings because every aspect of my experience was awful. I placed a to-go order and they said it would be ready in 45 minutes. It took 70 minutes before my order was ready... and they were not overwhelmed with business. I ordered salmon tempura roll, Philly and California rolls, Japanese curry with chicken and edamame. When I finally picked up my meal, I asked the employee to read back my order to make sure they got everything correct. She read back the correct order, but when I returned home I discovered they gave me shrimp tempura rolls instead of salmon tempura rolls. The Philly and California rolls were tiny, and I could have bought better rolls from Publix without wasting so much time. The tiny portion of edamame was overcooked and many of the pods didn't have any beans. The Japanese curry was mediocre. Tried to feed it to my cat, but he turned up his nose. Chen took very good care of us. The sushi shimmered and was cut beautifully. The rice was perfect. The gyoza dumplings were crispy in the bottom and steamed on the top. Delish... The miso was Luke warm so they could boost up the temp and the organic salad was very good but needed a little more crunchy lettuce. We really enjoyed our lunch. If you describe my lunch as being presented in a Bento Box and it arrives in a garish Styrofoam container, you get one star! If you dare to serve me unseasoned vegetables in an unseasoned batter, you get one star! If you present me with what looks to be a sodium-free pressed chicken patty that can't hold its coating, you get one star! If the soup reminds me of the smell of a wet bandage, you get one star! If you deliver clumpy, salty fried rice with no veggies and only a hint of egg, you get one star! The fact that I had to get up from the table, prepare fresh vegetables and eggs to address that pathetic rice and distribute the salt ( AFTER I PAID YOU FOR AN EDIBLE MEAL), should earn you no stars and a raspberry emoji but that is not an option! This is the type of food that is prepared when the chef hears "Bobby urinated in that coffee you drank this morning" or "You're fired but you need to complete that order first. I was so offended by this meal that I could have literally flipped a granite table. I have been working hard all morning and really did not have time to visit my favorite restaurant so I told my husband that I would like to try SushiMing since it is relatively close and we pass it often. This was an order that was placed and picked up, otherwise it would have been left at the table with a refund requested. My husband ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and the vegetarian roll. His plate was better than mine but still lacked quality preparation. The roll did not look good so I did not try it. My husband said that his meal was okay but we both agreed that we would not return for future meals. ***SUSHIMING STAFF, ALLOW ME TO MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS! Never serve "angry" food. If your chef arrives angry, give him the day off. Never allow food to be rushed, if you are short on staff, hire more people! If the food doesn't taste good, fix it! Don't serve unacceptable food as this is a poor reflection on you and your restaurant! ALL prepared food should be seasoned. When you do choose to use salt, take it easy. Truth in advertising is not an option, but a responsibility. There is a clear distinction between a Bento Box and a Styrofoam container. Please correct your on-line menu to reflect this distinction.
