i visited the racing pavillion today to watch the kentucky derby horse race, which i've gone to the…read morefair meadows pavillion to watch once before, though not since high school. although i'd planned to place a modest bet on the main event, the bet teller informed me when i'd got to the front of the teller counter window that cash payment is required to place a bet, and the atm on location had run out of cash. nonetheless, i'd heard from my mom that she may place a bet on a horse she had mentioned to me earlier in the day, and i'd seen some guys i'd known from high school with bets, so still had some interest in watching the race, which i'd likely have had even without knowing anyone who had money on it. further, the venue had a concession cart in the room with reserved table, in which teller counter and concession access was still available to the non-reserving public. from the concession, i got a pepsi soda-pop and twix candy, the former of which served as a delicious beverage to sip while standing in anticipation of the main event, as though the venue had a few and far between seats available in the non-reserved section, every table i'd seen was occupied by the time i'd got to the venue about 45 minutes before the main event race. nonetheless, i was welcomed by the guys i'd known from high school to stand at a table, and had a front row projection screen viewing experience of the race, during which the crowd was enthusiastic and got nearly as loud as i've seen the crowd get at live sporting events.

One thing I really appreciate is how easy it is to access the mountain thanks to three different parking lots: Lower Parking Lot (67th & Elwood) The most popular one, right at the base of the main trail system. Great if you want quick access to the Red, Blue, and Yellow trails. Upper Parking Lot (off Elwood, near the top) Perfect if you want a quieter start or prefer jumping straight into the mid mountain trails. West Side Parking Lot (off Highway 75 / 61st area) Aa lesser used entrance that gives you a totally different feel and connects you to some beautiful, less crowded routes. No matter where you start, the trails are well marked, varied, and offer everything from easy strolls to more challenging climbs. If you hike to The Sanctuary, you're rewarded with one of the most peaceful areas on the mountain. You'll come across several ponds, wildlife, and a tree house with bench style swings, one of the most unexpectedly delightful spots in Tulsa. It's the kind of place where you can sit, sway, and just breathe for a moment. Highly recommend spending a morning or evening out here. It's beautiful, accessible, and full of surprises.

i'd convinced momma to bring me since i had a injection appt at a pharmacy nearby at about 64th st…read moreand we do not get to go so far south or west very often. the trip helped me recall the location of the mountain primary entrances and parking lots. specifically, coming from highway 51, exiting off the 224 exit ramp, the first entrance, on the left side, is the favorite of mine for getting flicks, with a beautiful view of the city skyline in the background to the south and an equally beautiful hilly rural landscape closer by. then, next was the main entrance i know to the trails, with map and restroom in front of it, and a awesome angle of the massive mound of shrubbery that comprises the tallest point of turkey mountain. the experience also allowed me to reflect a bit on the reason i enjoy yelping so much, that during a period of life when time is a precious commodity for me, it allows me to receive small glimpses of locations that hold a special significance, and reflect on the roles those locations, turkey mountain for one, were for me. specifically, the hiking and running trail system was and to an extent is a destination running route, with the rocky trail a fun, challenging one for runners of all disciplines looking for a cross training opportunity. also, the variety of trails and vast nature area, including at least a few trees for hammocking, presents a ideal location for a nature excursion. lastly, i'll add that we exited across the 71st bridge, which is also an alternative entrance to the 224 exit off highway 51 heading west, and in that case, the order of the entrances i've mentioned would be reversed.

the local park has amazing features for people of all ages. there are multiple stone picnic tables…read moreat the park, a feature i was especially grateful for yesterday when i'd only brought a bath towel to use for picnic seating. though i'd have been content with the picnic table towel for seating, the table was a welcome accommodation, both for allowing me to stay off the grass, and keeping me from dirtying the towel. for the picnic, i'd brought a couple slices of watermelon my mom bought at the store, to celebrate the spring transitional weather. then, after eating the watermelon slices, i'd used chalk in watermelon colors to promote the yelp review, and express an openness in meeting up with parkgoers or review readers to hang out at the park, a place where i've met multiple kind people, both people i'd met previously and people i met for the first time at the park. and lastly, after writing in chalk on the picnic table, i'd also wrote a sort of fragmented poem in chalk on the basketball court, of which the sight brung to mind the association i've got between the halfcourt basketball area and the double rimmed goal on it. that is one among multiple appeals to me from the park.

There is a small playground for younger kids and a bigger one for older kids. It has a spongy waking surface made of recycled rubber, so it soften off possible falls. Parking is only along the curb, usually best on 29th street. There are trash cans and a dog litter dispenser.

When we were moving to our little ranch here in New Mexico (one reason, the wonderful weather) from Ohio we needed to have a place for our horses to say overnight. They were so kind and we got there very late and they still have two beautiful stalls for my horse kids. When we paid them, they said no, it was too much, but gave it to them anyway as a donation to their programs to help kids become familiar with horses. This was almost 20 years ago, and I never forgot them. Spotless facility, wonderful peeps and horses! Be safe there in Tulsa. We are sending good vibes your way!

I've have an Aventon Level 2 for almost 2 years (the length of their warranty) when the headlight…read morestarted flashing and so did the brake lights when activated. Spokehouse ordered a new controller, then the issue became that the headlight got brighter when braking, so not fixed. I had been in communication with Aventon and printed off suggestions from them and took it to the bike shop. Not only did the young man summarily dismiss one of Aventon's suggestions, he added he didn't know what the problem was, was in no hurry to find out as warranty work does't pay well and he chastised me for him loosing 5 minutes that he could have used to fix the bike he was currently working on. He even encouraged me to take the bike elsewhere which of course would void my warranty. Rude rude rude! Once I got my bike back, rest assured I will never do business with them again!
