The Bank of America across the street closed during the pandemic, which led me to open an account with this Citibank. It turned out to be a great move! The staff is fantastic, the location is highly convenient, and the customer service is always friendly. What surprises me the most is that I can actually speak to a real person at this branch. Good banking experience but parking is kind of rough. Quick - no line and friendly caring service. Parking is rough. There is I think only metered available and the parking lot is shared with lots of other businesses. Restaurant Azul's back door so there is lots of delivery trucks. I came to this bank to pay my credit card bill because it was closer to home than the one in San Leandro. This bank is spacious, modern and well lit, which is okay. I couldn't believe there was nobody in line. Well, I did not have to wait long...immediate service. There were several teller windows and only one bank teller to assist customers. The other teller must have been new, as she was being trained by management. The bank teller was friendly and helpful (4 star). Even though I don't have anything against the employees of this bank, I do have a gripe about the bank's simplicity card (Master Card). They will invite a customer to apply for this credit card with 0% interest for 18 months or so, and then after that promo period is over, the APR is 21.99%. This high APR is what I am being charged, and comparing it to my two VISA cards from my credit union (APR 9.9%) and Nordstrom (APR 14.5%), it will eventually be a good bye to Citibank again. Updated 6/15/2019 Service here has improved since my initial review. They frequently have 3-4 tellers and at least two bankers available for all the banking services you need. This is the banking experience I look for. It's a good location but they really are under staffed and every time that I've been here whether weekend or weekday, morning or afternoon, it's been really slow service and takes me longer than I would expect being in a bank. If you're someone looking to have better banking service in person, this is definitely not a place for you. Unless of course they improve their service quality. read more

It's about time that I write about this bank. Not just about Alameda's branch of Citibank, but the actual experience I've had with the company as a whole. Every single experience I've had with them was so difficult and unpleasant I can't see why people even bank with them. I've had to on several occasions make multiple phone calls or go into the bank several times to complete a simple transaction like; ordering checks and disputes of unauthorized debits from my checking account. Re-Ordering checks. I sat with a representative and actually thought that he completed the task, however when it came down to actually getting my checks which I was told 7 to 10 days... I didn't get them, I had to go to the bank to find out why and did not really get an acceptable explanation, then paid an expedited fee and it still did not get my checks until a month later. Unauthorized debits. I had some unauthorized debits from my account that I specifically went into the bank and sat with the manager and he supposedly fixed the them, it's been over 12 months now and the debits are still occurring every month for the past year, with no resolution. I am finally able to spend some time on this problem. Right now I am on hold with their customer service dispute department and its been over 1:45:34 minutes and I still have not talked with anyone. Is it really that busy? The local branch is closed. I will be closing my account sooner than later ... if I can get anyone from the bank to help me do it. read more

This is customer service! I walked in and was greeted quickly. I told them I needed to open an account. Easy process. I worked with an account person who showed me the options, helped me pick the one best for me, and when I told him what I was going to do (purchasing a home) he asked how long until I did. Brandon then suggested placing the money into a higher yield fund for two months (it would be at least 60 days until closing) and then move to another type of account. I moved out of state and the closest branch is now over an hour away. I have been able to call the branch, the call center, and use the app to do my banking. With no problems with my banking I'll stick with the company. I want to give a shout out to Brandon at this branch. He was very friendly, knew the products they offered, and helped me out more than once over the phone (after confirming my identity of course). Brandon seems very focused on the customer and I don't get that vibe from many companies these days. read more

Free treats like coffee, cookies, and granolas are available while you wait. If you need assistance from a Personal Banker, ask for Lester. The Branch Manager Ryan G. was unprofessional and rude when I express my concern with their procedures to process my banking needs. He took my frustration with the satiation upon himself and started to get short and snappy with me. it was uncalled for, and was a very unpleasant experience for me. I don't bank here normally but I do keep an account here so I do have to drop by the branch every now and then. This review is about this location and its service. Overall it's clean and the tellers are friendly and nice. The bankers here are also helpful and make sure you understand everything that is going on. I did appreciate the fact that Noel went the extra mile to find me the best type of account that would fit my needs. The only downside though are the rates at citi, so high and in order for you not to get charged a monthly service fee, as I was bleeding money each month, you have to put a good amount of money into the account. some time ago I got a call from Citibank employee claiming that there were some questionable charges. I am skeptical of this but this person tells me my address and my phone number and the exact amount in my checking and savings to the penny. I call citibank on another phone at the same time to ask if this call was indeed from them. during the call I am told that more charges are going through. I end up giving a code sent to my cell at the same time I am speaking with citibank that I called on another phone . Citbank is telling me everything is fine I tell them what was happening and she said I don't seen any charges so you are good. right then I see a charge for over 900 dollar I tell the rep on phone she said she stopped it but 2 other charges have gone through already. I asked what can be done this is over 3k she said good thing you called in so fast we can put a stop payment on it and retrieve the funds, but this can take several weeks. the next day I visit the branch in Alameda, expalain what happened and they have me open new accounts (not sure why this did not happen on phone?) and that they would call about having my money returned as I have fruad protection. I never got my money back I have called over 10x and am told every time the manager is in a meeting and they will call me back. I have not received 1 call back. I have visisted the branch over 7 times in counting speaking with there reps there every time in Alameda. they keep telling my my claim was denied. and I should call in but when I do the managers are busy and never call me back. At this point its obvious they are giving me the run-a-round. It is quite obvious that this was done by one of their employees and I am supposed to have fraud protection. I have been with this bank for over 15 years. I do not understand this treatment for a long standing loyal customer. They have lots of rules to limit services like check cashing and won't tell what the limits and rules are... They wait till you come in and decline the customer. CitiBank - stay away from here. This bank charges fees even when they saay they will not charge fees. We took out a line of credit with them. They did not advise us of any fees. Now, they charge us $100 a year, because we do not use the credit line. They refuse to cancel the account without a large penalty. The manager there refused to refund fees taken by the bank from our children's accounts in error, saying we should have been checking the styatements each month. Finally, we got THOSE fees refunded by threatening to close our accounts by CitiBank Corporate. The manager of this branch seemed unconcerned about losing our accounts. If you do bank with CitiBank, you better watch your balance every month. They will take out fees without your knowledge or approval. read more

I don't drive so no need for parking... The upset reviewer sounds very..well... There are things that the bank teller's computer won't show, so you actually have to call. To have a fit (as it seemed that you did because they would not give you information that they did not have), YOU were the one being disruptive. Seems they tried to handle you gingerly, but the banker probably had the last straw by your disrespectful behavior of putting your feet up on the chair (a common sign of disrespect. If it's disrespectful on BART, how much more so at a place of business). You may not have heard from Citibank, because you actually need to call and get that information- just like the teller said. You may have become used to people groveling over you when you get moody and dissatisfied, that's why you considered them unprofessional. In fact, the best thing for them to have done was to tell you that you are causing a disturbance and asked you to leave. Then again, they may have not done that because of liability reasons. I went to this bank just to (DEPOPSIT) my wife's payroll check, it was a Sat morning, I spoke to this young lady when you first walk into their store, (young lady I had a nice conversation with explaining that she still lives with her parents with other small talk). This young lady who's name I do not have (dratz), cause I would let everyone know 1st told me the information that I was giving her to my wife's account was incorrect ??? , 2nd gave her my wife's account number she was looking still confused. I was depositing a payroll check for over 1600.00 and we know that the bulk of the funds would be released by Monday. My wife & I have no idea what their representative did when she so called (deposited) the payroll check that has been deposited several times in the past. The representative divided the check up into (4 payments ???) releasing our money in increments i.e like your kids allowance ??? When my wife spoke to their customer service department they could not explain what & why it was done like that. The BRANCH MANAGER couldn't even fix the problem nor why his/her representative did the deposit the way she did. So now my wife is siting in New York (job training) and I sit in San Jose not able to get any of our money with no answer why or even a assitance to get us any money. If i could give Citi Bank a negative ten( -10) that would be still to much. I would go back to that location and ask the manager why ??? but they might get intimidated by my color (East Coast Black) with my advanced education and put me on HLN (Head Line News), not joking. I went to make a credit card payment, The teller "Jessica" asked me if I ever make a payment before? I said yes. then she response back, I need to see your ID and I need you to write down your ss# on this paper, which is a small scratch paper. I told her here is my ID and I can give you my ss# but I am NOT going to write it down on a piece of paper. FIRST, REMEMBER privacy act. I can give you my ss# to verify any info you need or want, but I am NOT required to write it down on a piece of paper, I am NOT apply for any credit so you have NO RIGHT what so ever ask me to write it down. How secure is that piece of paper is going to landed?? in someone's hand?? come on now, I know you and your bank has a policy to follow, but verbal verify seems not enough and only way is to write my personal info on a piece of paper?
