1 STAR -- Unacceptable Handling of My Money I am extremely…read moredisappointed with how Bank of America has handled the closing of my checking account and, more importantly, my money. The bank closed/restricted my account while approximately $1,100 of my money remained in checking. On top of that, a $300 payroll deposit from my wages was sent to the account, and I still do not have a clear answer as to where that money is or when I will receive it. I was originally told that my account would not be officially closed until September 28, 2026. That is completely unacceptable. Customers have bills, rent, food, transportation, and other expenses. A bank should not be able to hold someone's available funds for weeks while providing vague answers about when those funds will actually be returned. After calling again, another representative told me the closing date had been changed to today and instructed me to call back tomorrow to find out whether the account was actually closed. I was then told that once the account closes, my remaining balance will be mailed to me and could take another 7-10 business days to arrive. So after losing access to my own money, I'm expected to wait even longer for a check to arrive in the mail. At this point, I want the account closed and my money returned immediately. I should not have to repeatedly call customer service just to find out when I will regain access to money that belongs to me, including wages I earned. This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in Bank of America. The lack of urgency, inconsistent information, and inability to provide timely access to my funds is unacceptable. One star is generous.

We went in to deposit a check, and the teller, if I remember correctly her name was Maggy (she's Asian, so you'll know who I'm talking about), told us it couldn't be done. It was ridiculous because we've done this exact transaction hundreds of times before without any issues. She just clearly didn't want to help us. She basically told us to go to another teller, and while we were waiting in line, it was obvious she was treating everyone else the same way. We heard other people in line complaining that this wasn't the first time she's acted like this and that everyone tries to avoid her. It's pretty clear management doesn't care about the service here. I'm done with this bank--we are never coming back.

I arrived around noon and spoke with Branch Manager Ruby Falcon, who scheduled a 2:00 p.m. appointment for me. I explicitly explained that the wire was international and needed to go out that day. She assured me that the cutoff was 3:00 p.m. and that there would be enough time. I returned at 1:50 p.m. and waited for banker Zelaikha Naderi. She struggled to find the phone number for the TFS department and asked another employee, who was already busy, for assistance. By 2:40 p.m., there had been little progress. Ruby was called back from her break and arrived around 2:45 p.m. She reached TFS within a minute and again assured me that the international wire could go out that day. Zelaikha then began completing the form, requiring further assistance from another employee. The process was not completed until approximately 3:15 p.m. At that point, Ruby told me that the wire could not go out that day, stating that international wires do not go out the same day. This directly contradicted the assurances she had given me twice. I spent nearly an hour and a half at the branch after returning for my appointment, only to discover that the requirement I had clearly communicated at noon would not be met. Had I received accurate information during my initial visit, I could have explored other options. The delays, lack of preparation, and contradictory information from the branch manager were unacceptable. Customers should be able to rely on bank employees to explain wire procedures and deadlines accurately, especially when a transaction is time-sensitive. I am requesting a written explanation of what happened, clarification of the applicable international wire cutoff and processing times, and the specific steps this branch will take to prevent similar experiences for other customers.

Wells Fargo employee told me there would be a $10 fee for the cashier's check. One would think a senior citizen who is a bank customer with a checking account would not be charged a fee. I paid the $10 out of my pocket. This is what I called greed, highway robbery, a rip off of bank customers. Recently we went to US Bank, seeking a better experience, and WE FOUND IT! Daniel Chan, Client Relationship Consultant, welcomed us and set us up quickly with joint checking and savings accounts. Daniel set us up with debit cards AND credit cards. The next week we met with Daniel to set up transfers to other banks. We are very pleased with our experience at US Bank, and it is in a more safe location that Chase South Shore. We also feel that we are better served at US Bank than were we at Chase, I am sorry to have to say.
