Oddly my first bank was Bank of America, Webster St. I had to go there with my dad to get a loan of $100 in order to be an Oakland Tribune paper boy. I left Alameda and have returned, now, more than 70 years later. When I bought my house in Alameda I went to Chase, South Shore, because I was coming from LV and had had a real good experience with Chase there (see my yelp review of South Shore Chase). Recently we went to US Bank, seeking a better experience, and WE FOUND IT! Daniel Chan, Client Relationship Consultant, welcomed us and set us up quickly with joint checking and savings accounts. Daniel set us up with debit cards AND credit cards. The next week we met with Daniel to set up transfers to other banks. We are very pleased with our experience at US Bank, and it is in a more safe location that Chase South Shore. We also feel that we are better served at US Bank than were we at Chase, I am sorry to have to say. read more

First let me say the employees are wonderful! Love them all!!!! But us bank abruptly closed the other two locations in alameda. The only other is in a terrible grocery store. So have always loved this location and the employees. But now they always seem to be understaffed. Whenever I come in it tends to be a long line and only two windows open. So usually a 15-20 min wait. But at least the tellers are wonderful! Love them all! Just frustrated with the company. And the insane wait times. Not the employees fault at all. They cut their recourses and the employees end up suffering because of it. Just a shame. read more

Don't come in with a lump sum of money and ask to cash it. you're going to get looked at crazy, then they would say that they don't carry that kind of money here with an attitude., like it's coming out of their personal pocket‍. ‍ please employ upbeat workers. Traci is a liar and they never completed opening my non profit checking account after 6-8 weeks! Tons of run around and lies! Then, she decided to be a coward and not give me my paperwork after promising I can simply pick it up. She literally shut her window on me and made a different staff member hand it over. I plan to move all accounts, business and personal. Screw her and US BANK. read more

Harrison is extremely rude and unprofessional on the phone. Refused to verify a cashier check for another financial institution and requested to only speak to one specific banker, when it was the branch manager calling to verify the check. The banker he wanted to speak to wasn't the one involved in the transaction, or available since they had a client. Instead of verifying the check with the branch manager or the service manager, Harrison placed me on an extended hold and refused to pick up again. Had to call the branch three times, was placed on hold each time and he never picked up again, for a total of 15 minutes wasted when he could have verified the check from the beginning instead of being difficult and unreasonable. Harrison then said he could not verify the check and "that's between you and your client," but the client is also a customer of USBANK!! Ridiculous behavior, Harrison needs better customer service training and phone etiquette. I will be following up with the branch manager to file a complaint because according the Harrison "he's not here" and "doesn't know when he will be in next". How do you not know when your manager works? How do you handle escalations without a branch manager present? read more

All the low ratings for this branch are earned. Very judgmental and rude tellers, lobby floor was a mess. I went in to get change and they could only give me half of what I wanted because they "don't have a lot of change" ... isn't this a bank? They did not count the bills as they gave me my change. Faye and Traci are my favorite. Always very friendly and helpful. Due to other locations closing, I believe the branch is flooded on certain days but that doesn't change the fact that this is my branch. I live in Oakland and go out of my way to this location because of the staff and that it is easily more accessible than Oakland locations. read more

I have had poor experiences at every level of this bank. The customer service in this bank is terrible. The line tellers are great but every manager I have interacted with had been short, rude, and unhelpful. Their bank policies are not friendly to customers and I will end my banking relationship with this bank as soon as possible. Specifically, today I would like to mention how incredibly rude Tracy was. She wouldn't even talk to me directly about what she needed, instead sending a teller back and forth to communicate until she absolutely had to serve me. Even though she told me (through the other teller) if I returned within 15 minutes she would serve me (I could also hear her side of the convo though the glass so it wasn't the teller's fault) when I came back she said she couldn't serve me and to come back Friday! I joined US Bank years ago because a wise person told me of that Wamu was going kaput, and they really like US Bank. I have visited all 3 on the island ( I'm not including Bay Farm, that's NOT Alameda as far as I'm concerned )and this by far is the one you want to visit. 2, (not 1) women say " Hello!! Good Morning" each time you walk in. They seem sincere. All the tellers are friendly. One even informed me about this program that gets me this free promo for STUFF. That's good service. One employee here flirts with me when I am dressed for work. Never when I come in casual. Maybe she just prefers an executive man, I can't blame her. Why the 1 star reduction ? The ATM outhouse in front. It smells funky in there. They need to Febreeze it daily or some ish. It's getting to be a problem. The other day I looked for signs of this ferocious, non flatterring scent, but I have yet to detect the problem. Maybe US Bank will read this and start leaving those Coconut scented air fresheners inside. That'd be way sweet. Other than that, I love this location. read more

Called this branch to get more personal information about my account. NO ONE ANSWERED and kicks you to a recorder message saying I can get all the info I needed online. Not true...I needed a specific question that a personal branch employee can only answer. Tried several times throughout the day to call. Same results. Does anybody work here?!?!? It is a sad way of doing business. Tired of this IMPERSONAL Banking. ALSO, very rude tellers and managers. No personal skills whatsoever. They cop an attitude when asked questions. As if I am wasting their time. I always feel rushed. I hate to go to this particular branch because of this and only go there as a last option. The folks over at the south shore safeway and bay farm branches have a very good attitude and will answer all questions with patience. read more

I saw the teller name Aida she was very rude and I can read judgment from her tone and lack of customer assistance. Yay, a great full service bank with friendly tellers, a merchant window and reasonable fees. When someone compromised my account and the oafs at their San Leandro branch gave away $4500 in cash, this branch held my hand through a painful and difficult process. Kudos to Marcene and Wendy for always being accurate, friendly, helpful and just as cool as bankers could ever be. read more

I looked at the reviews from good to bad and truly understand why they were rated that way. I went to this branch today and as I walked in the door it seemed very impersonal unlike larger banks like Wells Fargo that greets you immediately. I was greeted by Tom, home mortgage, who stated that someone would be with me. There was only one person, Traci Aguon, available for new accounts. She was on the phone heavily engaged in straightening out some business for the bank. As I sat on the couch awaiting to be serviced another employee, Ida came in walked passed me and never acknowledged my presence. She sat at her desk a few feet away from Traci and never looked around. How rude! Someone else came in the bank and just wondered around then she acknowledged him, I can't say race played a part or just ignorance. Ida began helping him. At which time Traci got off the phone and asked how she could help. She indicated Ida was the person to assist me and I informed her that I chose not to do business with Ida due to her behavior. Despite the fact that Traci had a lot of work to do and catch up on which she told me when I asked she put on her professional hat and began assisting me. She appeared initially overwhelmed but after a while things loosened up and we ended up just chatting and laughing. What started as cold and impersonal ended up in being a good experience. I stayed because of her and rated this branch because of her. I couldn't give it a five because there is still room for improvement at this branch. If you are looking for something different in a banking experience try this branch but don't necessarily expect a lot of fluff, people and gimmicks. While customer service is key to me, how a company recovers from a bad experience like my engagement with Traci says a lot to me. More to come as I begin to use their tools and services. There needs to be a 10 Star button for this business. Renee, Traci and the rest of the staff make you feel right at home when you come by. They know almost everyone's first name when they walk in. I have 3 of my businesses bank accounts with them and they are always helpful. They even take the time to greet my children when they come in and deposit their birthday/allowance savings. If you own a business in town you should definitely move from the big banks to this hometown service oriented establishment. Great job guys!!! read more

The customer service at US Bank is outstanding. My husband and I went to open a joint checking account and received a genuine friendly greeting upon walking into the branch. The banker that assisted us, took the time to make sure we opened the best checking account for our needs. She even let us know of the new Pride Debit Card that we could choose from for the background. She was friendly, kind, knowledgeable of all the products and made suggestions for us without being pushy. I highly recommend the US Bank branch in Alameda on Santa Clara Ave. read more

They have no people skills at all and have a disgusting fee structure on top of that. Do NOT do any financial business with this company. US Bank Commercial Lending Group in Oakland & Concord, CA did a horrible job for one of my clients. The lead representative for the bank was Jack Caton. They wrote us a very aggressive letter of intent that got our attention. After we agreed on the business terms in said letter of intent, they continued to change the deal. They did not give us the loan documents until two days before closing. The loan documents had new loan terms in it that were unacceptable to my client. My client was forced to buy the contracted commercial with all cash at a significant hassle factor because of the commercial lending department. We did close on the property, but now we have to finance the asset in a more expensive lending environment. I have now checked with many of my associates in the business and have found out that our experience is not unique. It was unfortunate... but i have learned a painful lesson read more

This Bank is Not about customer service, have an attitude problems. Tried setting up a special account and after 3 tries they struck out. The legal department did NOT give a list of required documents at the initial visit instead kept comming up with additional documents needed felt they didn't want the business and they won't get mine. This is hands down the worst banking experience of my life. US Bank is draining my account by $900 and applying fees because they cannot shut down an auto bill pay on a closed health insurance account. Customer service is terrible. I'm closing all of my accounts with them ASAP. This type of situation has been going on intermittently with them for 5 years. I am done. read more
