This review is not specific to this branch, but to Wells Fargo as a whole. Came in to deposit a check, and found out about an egregious update to their terms. As of this month (October 2025), Wells Fargo is tripling the daily minimum balance you are required to maintain in your checking account, from $500 to $1500, in order to avoid a $15 monthly service fee, per account. So if you have two checking accounts as I do, you need to leave $3K just sitting in those accounts for the corporate fat cats to play with. Uh, no, I need to use that $3K to, you know, pay my rent and bills, as do most people. And what exact 'service' are they providing, to charge $15/month for? Sheer, unadulterated GREED. Went to another branch had zero issues. today I stopped in and politely asked an employee (a heavy set Asian or Latina female with dark hair and wearing glasses) to please shred a year's worth of old statements I had and she said "I'm sorry we're not allowed to shred customer documents". I'm a Wells Fargo customer and they are Wells Fargo bank statements and ALL financial institutions use shredding services for confidential destruction of such documents and I've had documents shredded at this specific location for about 10 years now. The purpose of my visit to this branch at the Southshore Shopping Center in Alameda was to use the ATM for a cash withdrawal. It is conveniently located for me to take care some business instead of going to other branches of Wells Fargo. The ATM's are located slightly to the right of their double door entrance. There is plenty of parking in front of the bank and nearby. This bank seems always busy during business hours with customers waiting in line to enter the bank. Thus, I rather use the ATM for my transaction during the day/early evening. Besides I don't have to be a drama queen and/or a pita (pain in the a**) standing outside the bank about to scream when my sciatica flares up. Easy peasy to exit vehicle, use ATM, get my cash, get in vehicle and go home. LOL read more

I grew up knowing a lot about how a bank should be run. My aunt started her career at Wells Fargo, then was the branch manager at Great Western on Park St. and South Shore... Eventually WAMU, then ended her career at Bank of the West before she passed away. I have memories of going to work with her and learning about good customer service at a very young age. This branch is by far the worst bank I have ever been to! I have been several times and each time only one or two teller windows are open. Merchant window is never open. The manager is rude and constantly has a sour look on her face like she doesn't want to be there. Actually almost every person working there looks miserable. I have dealt with Jasmine on multiple occasions and have found her to have the worst attitude. When I went to her teller window all she mumbles is "Next." Apparently I didn't move fast enough for her and she looks at me again and goes "Next!" No smile. No how are you. She just takes my deposit and hands me a receipt. A few weeks ago when i came in she did the same thing. I think this is just how she is. (You'd swear i was Malefacent or something by the way I'm treated lol) Honestly, we keep our money here... I was trying to open two Trust accounts for my 93-year-old mother at my credit union (40 year member BTW) and after spending two hours getting my trusts scanned and sent to "get approved," the documents were approved but I was handed an extremely cryptic Application form and was told, "I can give you no advice on how to fill it out." She implied I should probably go back to the lawyer to help fill out the app! After another 30 minutes trying to figure out how to fill it in, I gave up and left my credit union I went to Wells Fargo, where I have an account and they were able to open two accounts in about an hour without a Trust Lawyer present as my credit union implied was needed to fill out their application. Wells has done much to tarnish its reputation lately, and when I needed to set these accounts up, Wells was not my first choice to walk in with a stack of trust documentation and powers of attorney. Super condescending, and they acted like they didn't know of any issues with online banking, when clearly there are issues with Wells Fargo customers and their online banking. The "greeter" (for lack of a better term) wanted to direct me away from the tellers and I had to repeat three times that I needed to talk to a teller. OK, I have been coming to this branch now for seven years. Throughout that time I have consistently experienced a professional and courteous staff who are organized and appear to be well trained in their jobs. And their style seems very genuine, not the sort of canned imitation customer service that one encounters with, say, cable TV providers. These folks are genuinely competent and concerned. Even the contract security folks are a joy. I'm sure that some people might have a less ideal experience but I can't understand why this place is not rated higher. I enjoy stopping in sometimes rather than going to the ATMs which are just outside because these folks seem genuinely friendly and upbeat. I don't what it is about Wells Fargo, and especially this branch in particular, but every transaction I've done here has been atrocious. They have zero sense of service and the most arrogant, rudest attitudes I've ever seen in any industry anywhere. Nowhere else can I remember getting treated so badly on such a consistent basis as I do here. Up till recently I had business, personal, checking accounts here -- for nearly 5 years and still got barely minimal customer service. Nobody knew my name. Tellers call-verify all checks (a huge hassle for my clients). Checks held to their limit. Managers make no accomodations beyond protocol, EVER. Every interaction = a tiny battle, followed up with a sales pitch for some new product. If all the teller has is $20's in their box then that's what you're gonna get even if you're taking $3k out in cash. Yeah that happened today. Thanks JON. Oh also today teller Jon literally tossed my cashier's check (and the rubber stamp pad) at me and wouldn't cash it even though it was a CASHIER'S CHECK drawn out from Wells Fargo. I've been banking here since I was 5 years old. A few years ago I was depositing a large amount of money into my account that I hadn't touched in over 7 years. The banker lied to me saying I had to open a new account. I had a grandfathered account that had no fees and the new account had fees. After realizing what had happened I went back a few days later and spoke to a manager. That banker was fired and they got me set up with my old grandfathered bank account. I went in to this bank, the banker lied to me, but then the manager took care of the situation and made it right. The fact that the manager took the time to make it right meant a lot to me. I know Wells Fargo is one of the bad big banks, but they have provided better service than most. I don't love this bank, but I don't hate it and that's most important. read more

I walked into this branch and sat down to wait in the waiting area because I saw only one banker (didn't catch her name) and she was with a customer. She asked if I had a question in an impatient and rushing tone. I said I did. She then asked me from across the room what's your question then? I did not want to scream my question across the room to her as there are other people there and that just violates my privacy. So I asked her if I should come back later? She quickly told me I need to just called Wells Fargo customer service instead or make an appointment otherwise I won't be help. She was rude, rushing, impatient while I was simply being patient to wait. I prefer Chase customer service next door, they greet you nicely, ask you what you need help with. I'm not s customer, but I've had to come here to cash my TD checks made from a Wells Fargo account, my own back puts a hold on check deposits up to 4 days. Coming here is the only way I can get the whole amount cashed at once. Even though I'm not a customer, I've been treated and made to feel like I am. People are NOT well trained and their reaction to not knowing exactly how to handle a specific transaction is either to ignore you or pass the buck. Rudeness and incompetence prevail. Nevertheless, the teller was extremely helpful, she told me there was no rush. She explained the answers I was looking for thoroughly and gave some advice to avoid the situation that occurred in the future. I was very disappointed with the customer service with this branch. I do not go into the bank that often - I normally just use the ATM - but I normally use the banks in Oakland. The teller was very helpful but the manager was more focused on telling me the rules rather than trying to help me. I went to my closest branch the following day, and they presented some options for the deposit. However, when I called the Alameda branch back, the manager continue to just talk at me and appeared intent on showing that she was in charge and would not change or adapt to my suggestions. I am proud to have just closed my accounts after 11 years with Wells Fargo. If you are sick of unethical, immoral, tactics then I recommend you do too. This bank and this branch in particular represent the worst in the industry period. They lie bluntly about fund verification, while imposing unreasonable fees on long term "valued" customers. Don't waste a minute pondering if account closure is worth the time, it only takes a few seconds. Make sure you arrive with a zero balance and no pending transactions, they will use any excuse to keep you around one more day.
