When we moved to South Boston two years ago, I went to CITIdental to continue the regular dental care I had been getting for years. Dr. HUANG warned me that there was work to do, that all was not as good as I had imagined. She documented this diagnosis with utterly complete and up to date imaging equipment. She established a sequence of treatment beginning with the most serious problems and spreading the work over enough time that my insurance would cover as much of the work as possible. Now, some two root canals and an extraction later (!), I still look forward to the regular cleanings with Stephanie and the regular checkups with Dr. Huang. In itself, that says a lot. Dr. Huang is pleasant, briskly efficient, and works smoothly with her assistant. She explains everything before she does it, uses enough topical anesthetic where appropriate to do the job (I'm somewhat resistant), and has a consistently light touch. I recommend Dr. Huang to anyone considering dental work, especially the dental chickens among us and those (like me!) making up for lost time. read more

I went to this office for four years and it was the best dentist I've been to. I had two minor surgeries in their care and got the best care. They are courteous, thoughtful, clear, and patient oriented. I always got good care there, and I very picky about dentists as I had some bad experiences in the past. This review is for the dentist, Dr. Ahmed Hamada & Assistant Jennifer. WOW! I have never been so impressed by an office or it's staff. I used to go to a dentist in the North Shore, and thought it was fine. However, my eyes have been opened, and I need to back and write a review for that place as well. The office is clean, REALLY clean, and new. The cleaning that was done was done by Dr. Hamada - quick & painless. It was my first visit, and included cleaning, x-ray & a free impression/Colgate Optic whitening kit! They found 2 cavities, but showed xrays of them, and photos with a mouth cam so you know they aren't just pulling your leg trying to get insurance money. I set up an appt to have my old cavity filling removed, and re-done and the receptionist came in and sat me through all the insurance payments (what was covered, and what would be out of pocket). There is literally NO confusion about anything. I am extremely impressed, enough that I decided to deal with trying to remember my Yelp password to come review them :) ****EDIT, the CitiDental in Downtown at Court St are thieves and shouldn't be trusted. They are conscientious, level-headed, pragmatic, and knowledgeable. This review is based on my September visit with Dr. Hamada. I decided to make an appointment here for two reasons - it is less than 0.5 miles from me and I needed someone with availability on a Saturday. Upon entering the office, I noticed how magnificently clean and neat it was. The receptionist and hygienist who greeted me were also extremely friendly. This was a good start. Dr. Hamada also impressed me with his ability to explain things to me on an understandable level. He also broke the news that I had to get my wisdom teeth removed very easily to me. The team here made it simple for me to find an oral surgeon that was covered with my dental plan. I will definitely be back here! read more

I'm 32 years old, and have never had a cavity or dental issue in my life. Eight months after my last cleaning, I switched to CitiDental South Boston because I moved to Southie. I saw Dr. Mulyar who told me I had some cavities that need to be fixed. When checking out, the receptionist told me there were nine cavities and gave me a quote to get them fixed. Naturally, I was surprised, so I sent a follow-up email asking for more detail and priority for treatment. At this point, I was told that only four of the cavities needed immediate attention (something that I would expect to be covered in person, by the dentist, during the visit and not need to be teased out over email). I went back to my old dentist to get a second opinion. He literally laughed at me, and said nothing was wrong with my teeth. No procedures were necessary. I emailed CitiDental to make them aware of this. It's been three business days, and no response. There are obviously differences of opinion and degrees of severity, but nine cavities to none is ridiculous. CitiDental, and Dr. Mulyar in particular, tried to take advantage of me as a new patient. From the moment I entered the door the receptionist was great very pleasant and when i finally meet Dr. Hoang and her assistant oh my goodness it was one of the best experience I've ever had . They made me feel comfortable very friendly, the Dr. She is a STAR extremely knowledgeable she explain all the procedures to me step by step and made me feel so comfortable I actually can wait for my next visit...great job. read more

Overall, very good experience. I hadn't been to a dentist in quite a while, and they did a great job of explaining what I needed done - could have been a whole lot worse. Dr. Hoang was pretty efficient, and Rachael did a great job with the deep cleanings. My only issue is that when I set up my first appointment online, I mentioned that I was also interested in the free whitening offer on their website for new patients. They called me back the day after booking online to confirm the appointment (and actually change it to a day earlier, as I'd requested they do if an opening came up), and I mentioned it again then. When I went in, I asked about it and was told "next time" since I had to go back for a deep cleaning. Every time, they seemed to want to dance around the question/talk about something else and ignore it however possible. So don't count on any promotions like that - but otherwise it was a positive experience. read more

I went to CitiDental South Boston with a dental emergency requiring immediate action. Having recently moved to Boston only a few weeks prior, I was in desperate need of a reliable and experienced dentist. CitiDental South Boston scheduled my appointment immediately, welcomed me in a warm and cheery manner, and carefully heeded all COVID-19 guidelines to ensure both patient and caregiver safety. Dr. MJ Alsafar carefully and thoroughly explained the reason behind my pain, answered all of my questions in a thoughtful manner, and provided multiple treatment plans to solve my dental emergency. My molar abscess was the result of an ill performed root canal by an inadequately skilled dentist. Dr. Alsafar was the polar opposite of this dentist, extracting my tooth and clearing the infection with meticulous skill and bedside manner. I have never written a YELP review before, but will make an exception after the incredible care and treatment I received by Dr. Alsafar and the staff at CitiDental South Boston. Medical professionals strive to comfort and help their patients, but many fall short of achieving BOTH elements of patient care. Dr. Alsafar is one of the rare few. Walking into CitiDental South Boston, I was in extreme pain and distress. I haven't been to the Dentist since I moved into Boston, which was about 10 years ago... My original Dentist was in Nantasket...so it was a burden to drive all the way down from Boston for a cleaning. As a result, my teeth we're in terrible shape. I set up an appointment via e-mail and met Stephanie McArdle and Dr. Badawi. Stephanie took pictures of my teeth, x-rays, dental consultation, and basically laid a game plan for the rest of the year. Within minutes I started a deep cleaning, they drilled, and gave brand new fillings! I was in and out of their office in about 2 and half hours! All I can say my mouth and my teeth feel so much better. The location is probably one of the most convenient places in the city. I am beyond terrified of the dentist. I would rather be punched repeatedly in the face than have work done on my teeth and I've had some pretty bad experiences in the past. That being said, I am really glad I found CitiDental and Dr. Hoang. On my first visit I got a very thorough and painless cleaning by Stephanie who was really nice, and Dr. Hoang took the time to walk me through the work I needed to have done and how she suggested scheduling it. I had my first set of fillings yesterday and am still amazed at how painless it was. I was completely freaking out (needles! drills! panic! tears!) but they were super compassionate and really careful to keep it as comfortable as possible. I was in and out of there in about 40 minutes (i.e. you can get in on your lunch break). So glad this place joined our community! The staff are friendly, accommodating and knowledgable! I consistently get treated so wonderfully by them that I almost enjoy dentist visits. The facility is new, modern and let's plenty of natural light in. You feel right at home. (Plus there's an adorable poodle that makes an appearance every now and then) The cleanings I have come in for were quick and painless. I also saw Dr Hoang for a couple of fillings and it was over pretty quickly. The numbness sucks and lasted for a lot longer than they told me it would but it wasn't a big deal. Dr Stolch did a couple of things for me too and she was the best! She's so friendly and sweet. These truly are great people who love what they do. I got an amazing whitening kit with my first visit and absolutely love it! Those things are expensive so that's a huge bonus! read more

I just wanted to give this review because I felt it was well deserved. I have been going to my dentist since I can remember and I love him. But I decided to try a place closer to home for my whitening. I was nervous at first but as soon as I got there they made me feel so much better. I was first greeted by the girl at the front desk, I believe she was a manger , her name was Pam. She was extremely professional and let me know exactly what to expect. When I got in the room I was Introduced to Paola, Stephanie, and Dr. Hoang. They had a lot of knowledge and told me about the procedure and made me feel so much more at ease. There was even the cutest dog that stood w me through the whole thing. Steph was the best hygienist and Paulo made my whitening experience EXTREMELY comfortable. I didn't feel any pain or sensitivity.You can tell these girl know exactly what they are doing and are well experienced. They are also extremely honest w their opinions and don't make u feel pressured to do anything. I was extremely happy w my results and can't wait to go back. I have a great avoidance of dental work and I've gotten off quite light. This evening was a reckoning and I knew that needles and drilling would be involved. You think that the sweet white dog in the picture sat on my lap to console me. Yes, they loved having her there! (Little did they know that all I would have had to say is "ATTACK!") Hey, no need! Dr Matthew Cronan is a new dental associate to the CitiDental South Boston Office. He is gentle and the procedure didn't hurt at all. So he was spared. She did the most thorough cleaning I have ever had, and consulted with the dentist about treatment for me. Dr. Cronan is hands down the best dentist I've ever been to! I went to CitiDental for a regular cleaning, where they also took XRays. At the time, I recently switched jobs, and CitiDental was closer to my new office than my old dentist, and based on reviews, I went here. My experience was bizarre, to say the least. For 5 years I had been to my prior dentist every six months for a cleaning, with no problems cited (no cavities, no root canals, no gum graphs needed...nothing.) The first time I came to the CitiDental office, within one hour, they cited at least 13 cavities, a gum graph needed, and a removal of a previously filled tooth, and then a root canal on that same tooth. They were insistent on getting half of this done before the end of the year so I could take advantage of the insurance policy that "resets" at the beginning of each year. When I asked Dr. Hoang why she might think her analysis of my teeth versus my old dentist's analysis of my teeth would be so different, she became very defensive, and without explaining her reasoning behind the discrepancies, she merely insisted that it was "necessary." All of my interactions seemed like they were attempting to get higher co pays and premiums from my insurance company. I did not return, and had been scared of visiting another dentist ever since. Almost a year later, I just had a cleaning with another dentist, which included X Rays and an exam by the dentist. I was told my teeth were fine and I had no cavities. They did not reference 13 cavities, they did not reference the necessity of a gum graph, and they did not indicate I needed a root canal. The dental hygienists at CitiDental were fantastic, however, I recommend getting a second opinion if excessive "tooth repair" is at the conclusion of your first dental exam. And, no need to wait an entire year, either, there are reasonable dentists out there that aren't after you or your insurance money. read more
