Had a bunch of slides and some VHS to be digitized. Everything was done well and on time at a reasonable price.

In mid-March my grandmother went into home hospice care. She was the family historian, so before…read moreshe passed my mom and aunt wanted to try and take down the stories, locations, approximate time, and people that were in the tons of photos and negatives tucked away in her house. From April through June I'd come here at least once per week to drop off and pick up everything they'd find. Our goals were to have them scanned professionally so they'd be much higher quality images than what we could do at home, they'd be finished much more quickly than we could ever do, we'd be able to back them up to the cloud, and most importantly we could use the computer to zoom in instead of arranging lights and a magnifying glass so she could see them. At least half the negatives I'd brought in were slightly to significantly larger than modern film sizes, and some most likely older than my grandmother. Everyone was incredibly helpful, between showing me how to use their cutter and light table to trim the edges off oversized negatives and teaching me how to determine if a roll of film had been used up, to re-scanning a very tall stack of negatives after a misunderstanding when I originally placed the order and sending out film to be tested to find out if it was color or black-and-white. They understood the gravity of the situation and genuinely wanted to make everything as absolutely smooth and cost-efficient as it could be. To further illustrate just how much the staff wants to be of help: * One Saturday I overheard a few phone conversations between Cory and what was obviously the same customer who kept calling back. The customer was trying to get photos off of a USB drive onto their computer and couldn't figure out how to do it. Why someone would call a photo lab for lessons on using their own computer, I'll never know; however, Cory attempted to walk the customer through finding the USB drive over the phone despite not being able to see what was on the customer's screen. * Chris once commiserated with me when I remarked that sometimes when going through these photos, Grandma wasn't nearly as excited about them as we'd expect. He told me something along the lines of, "Old people are old, and you're showing them photos of old stuff they've already seen and done. They're like, why?" At that moment I really needed someone to not be so, "aww," and just drop some reality, and this was exactly what was necessary. * On one occasion I'd come in to pick up an order on my way out of town to visit her. A mix-up had caused a few photos to not get printed while others were printed but not put on CD. Before I left, they found the photos on a hard drive somewhere and they immediately burned a CD and ran the prints so I could take them with me that day. While we weren't able to get through all the photos with Grandma, the ones we did manage to look through gave us incredible insight into the rich life she'd lead and connected so many dots between the stories she'd told us over the years. I sincerely can't thank Cory, Chris, Kim, and the rest of the staff enough for their countless hours of effort. It made an incredibly emotional time that much easier for my family and gave us the chance to make some very special memories during the limited time she had left with us.

Customer service wasn't friendly or welcoming, and we didn't really feel acknowledged as customers. We wanted to support a small business, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back to develop film here and would recommend looking elsewhere.

I am someone who generally does not like having my photo taken because I tend to pose awkwardly (or do strange things with my face and/or arms). Ben knows how to work with people who need help in this area, in a way that is empathetic, respectful, educational, and even fun! One of his greatest talents is that he knows how to recognize and capture your authentic expressions, even in a studio environment. This is evident when you look through his portfolio. When he gives guidance on posing/angles, he walks through the "why" of each step and how even subtle changes affect the final product. He takes the time to understand what you want to portray and what you don't, and the end result is MAGIC. Other details: The studio itself is spacious and well designed. It was easy for me to get to, and not in a super crowded, loud, or busy area. Prices are straightforward and fair - there are no surprises. Another thing that I appreciated, even before the photo session, is that his website is impressive and extremely easy to navigate. Most, if not all of your questions, are likely answered on the website. You can easily book your session directly. Bonus points - he made it himself! If you want a photo of yourself that you actually love, look no further.
