Makeup service destroyed my self esteem. Met for makeup consult. She berated me about overplucking destroying my eyebrows. I kept telling her I do not pluck my brows (they are blonde and already thin) and she insisted I did this to myself. She did this for 15 minutes and then I had to sit there and feel awkward while she did the rest of my makeup. Insisted I buy an $80 brow serum because I "ruined" my brows. Insisted I make a follow up appt to try to "fix" my eyebrows. I felt horrible the rest of the session. She had slim color options, supplies were NOT clean (brushes were visible soiled), no use of sanitation agents. Obviously canceled future makeup services but left with my self esteem destroyed months later. This makeup service is only adequate if you're 75 years old with no standards or understanding of modern day makeup and sanitation practices. read more

I was there last Saturday for my hair color, before they do my color i asked the girl how much it will cost? She told me $175.00 but it may cost $10 to 15 more if need more product. She gave me an estimate $190.00 but she ended up charge me $310.00 and tip her $8.00. (total $318.00) I did not feel comfortable to use credit card here. I've gotten a massage here many times and I always coming out feeling amazing! The atmosphere in the massage area is very calming. They have dimmed lights and comfortable seating for while you wait. They give you a nice robe as well. They offer you water before you go in. Then after you massage you can sip on some cucumber water and have a few pastries and relax even more. My recent massage was with Bernadette and she was FANTASTIC! I got the Citrus Signature Massage and it was amazing. Highly recommend! It's a bit pricier than some other places, but it's so worth the price! read more

BEWARE! Bait and Switch! And hidden costs. 1). I had a $170 gift certificate given to me in November 2019 for a spa package. Due to COVID I was not able to use it till now, November 2020. When I finally went to use it they charged me an additional $15 to use it b/c they said the price of the package went up from the time it was purchased. Nowhere on the certificate does it indicate the price is subject to change and nowhere was there and expiration date. I complained and said that was not right. They didn't care. They made me pay. I didn't care for this and thought what a terrible impression it was leaving on me as a first time customer. Clearly the $15 was a big deal to them. To me, principal is what mattered most. 2). My $170 spa package included a facial, a massage, a mini mani and Pedi. The aesthetician was lovely. I really liked her and I felt we hit it off. She was clearly great at what she does with skincare. But she told me my basic facial in the package I had "doesn't give you much. Its basic." So she was adding on some things to give me "a little more." I thanked her and said "that's so nice of you." The way she explained that she was adding "a little more on" was positioned as though she was adding the extras on for free. Never did she mention there was an additional cost. And never did she present to me that I could upgrade my facial to another facial. Fast forward, I get to the counter to pay with my gift certificate of $170 and they tell me the facial I had was $120 facial alone. I was shocked. I explained that I had a gift certificate and that a facial was included in it. They told me that the extras that the aesthetician added on brought it up to a $120 facial. I was mad. I explained that the aesthetician never told be there was an upcharge. Then the aesthetician came to the counter and I told her she never told me this. She then removed $20 and ended up charging me $105.00 for the facial. Are you kidding me? What a scam. I hope management is reading b/c you lost what could have been a new customer. This is not what you do to brand new customers or yet alone long time customers. You need to do a better job in communicating to your customers and not baiting them to switch the services and fees. I'm bummed this happened. And I won't be going back. read more

I have been a client of Citrus since it opened. I've spent thousands of dollars there. At my last visit, I returned because I was offered 25% off all my services if I came in (after a long hiatus). I treated myself, and booked the 1/2 day spa appointment, and a cut/style. I had two of THE WORST months at my very stressful job, and the idea of a half day spa appointment kept me going as a reward. Day of.... ruined it all! My cut was fine (although not worth $65), although never blown out, because there was a big rush to get me in for my spa services. When I went in the back for the spa services (massage/facial/pedicure), the woman scheduled to start with the massage refused, claiming the owner took too long with my hair and there was not enough time for her to set up for the next guest (although there was a full hour before that was set to happen). I explained I bought a package deal and wanted to use the package deal, and she informed me it was impossible because she did not want to be off schedule. She also blamed me for being later when, in fact, I arrived 15 minutes early and had to wait for the stylist. I told the masseuse I would leave, and went back into the changing room. The person scheduled to do the facial interrupted me while I was changing in the back room to persuade me to stay for the facial and the pedicure, but that defeated the purpose, since I was there for the package deal of a half-day spa retreat (which was also at a better price than the services individually). When I left, the person behind the counter failed to deduct 25% from my haircut, so I paid $65, and a $20 tip, for a cut that was never finished, and for which I was supposed to receive 25% off. I didn't realize it had happened until I was out in the car because of the yelling. Yes, yelling. When the front desk person informed the owner there was a problem, he did attempt to get involved, and directed the woman who was to do the massage to do it, but she refused. Loudly. Both of them were yelling at the front desk. Sure, that's the person I want to touch me for a massage! Either way, poor management. I could not believe she was yelling at the owner and refusing. Worst, I was never contacted about the problem, I wasn't even offered a compromise -- like maybe my haircut would be free, since my head was soaking wet??? It was simply: your services are not available today because the person scheduled to do your massage flat out refuses to do so "because it takes me a long time to set up the oils for the next guests".... Whatever. Sadly, after years and years of patronage, and thousands and thousands of dollars, I will not return. read more

I've read some of the negative reviews on here and I have to disagree. I've been going to Citrus for several years now and I'm really happy with what I'm getting. I've never experienced rudeness or mediocre service. The staff has always been friendly and pleasant. I always leave with a great haircut - my stylist always gives me the exact cut and style I ask for, and she doesn't get overly pushy about products. I can't really speak for their coloring since I've never had my color done at Citrus. I agree that it is somewhat pricey - but since I'm always happy with the cuts I get I think it's worth it. read more

Well I guess it's a good thing I managed not to read these reviews before coming here for the first time this past weekend... it might have discouraged me from checking it out. Maybe I went on a good day... who knows... *shrug* So I've been checking out all the local salon and spa's the past few months. I'm not terribly picky since I usually just get a 1 inch trim and a blow dry. And I usually take whoever's available when I want to come in. So I ended up with Kathryn, who as a senior stylist cost me a whopping $65. $65 is probably more than I would ever be willing to spend on a haircut, but since my last experience with a junior level stylist was one of the worst experiences ever, I figure I would be safe with a more experienced stylist. Hair Stylist: A+ - So Kathryn has been in the biz for some 13 years and is actually recently left Jolie's because of management issues. While I only have positive things to say about my experiences from Jolie's, La Vita's, and AME, Kathryn stood out among them. Long story short, Kathryn gave me the new hair style I was debating for a while, when the stylist from AME told me my hair was too thin to do it. Apparently NOT! I loved it, and will probably see Kathryn again because of it. Customer Service: B - Average... I've got no complaints and no kudos. Ambiance: B+ - Nice exterior, clean, I'll probably have more to say when I get my massage in a few weeks... Overall: B+ read more

This review has nothing to do with the massage therapist, Kim, who was wonderful and attentive. I felt bad for her given the circumstances and things and equipment that were out of her control malfunctioning and going wrong. Horrible customer service. Almost everything malfunctioned while I was there ... Cold shower and broken shower head during a freezing body scrub, broken lockers, broken ATM and rude front desk, loud/obnoxious spa area filled with trash (could hear loud conversations in the waiting area for the entirety of the massage), no water and cold tea water after I was encouraged to enjoy a hot cup of tea after shivering in a freezing room and a cold shower. When I went to leave a tip the woman at the front desk made it sound like just this once she was doing a favor by putting the tip on my credit card.... Uhh your ATM machine is BROKEN. Wow. Had facial appointment @9am was told to arrive @8:45am which I did but received a less than friendly good morning welcome. I was left to sit waiting for 25 minutes w/o so much as any acknowledgement I'd been waiting, wasn't offered a sip of water. Speaking of water wasn't put out until 9:03 am...If your employees don't begin their work day until 9am DON'T REQUIRE CUSTOMERS TO ARRIVE AT 8:45AM! At 9:10 I waited long enough and left as my time is just as valuable as theirs. At 9:25 am I received a call asking me to come back and the service would be free...I wasn't looking for a free service I was expecting to be treated professionally. Expensive, and the service was not very personalized. also, set up is large and confusing, and you have to walk all the way to the back to pay, w/ those stupid plastic flipflops on. Some services were fine (notably the shampoo people), my stylist was high every time I was there, and she spent most of her time trying to 'upgrade' services. A manicurist complained throughout my time in her chair about her clients, telling me that all they want to do is talk about their problems (I hadn't asked to hear HERS). On my last visit, the receptionist told the next person in line to go ahead of me, saying, "Since he's a man, he probably has to get back to work". That was my LAST visit. I don't need to pay to be talked out of the hair color and style I prefer, or to be treated so horribly by the staff. Very high prices and pushing hard to sell 'products' that they carry... I easily found a much friendlier and professional salon. read more

I chose to have Citrus as the spa to hold part of my bridal shower. Citrus had it's share of great reviews and it was also the closest. We had about 7 ladies, including close friends whom I haven't seen in five years, a wonderful mother-in-law, and a new stepmother. We reserved works for the morning. I would describe the front desk customer service as adequate but not warm. They were polite enough and professional enough that I would have still come back. The best part was the bridal massage - it was amazing and the woman tried hard to do a stellar job. The other ladies said their massages were great, too. As for nails, however, the women doing our nails weren't great for several reasons: Treatment of my nails, final product, and unprofessional behavior. Treatment: 1. The nail specialist was rough with my nails and hands. Product: 2. The final product was shoddy: My nails had uneven thick and thin white tips and some stray strokes. I asked her to redo a couple nails that were really awful, but as I realized that she wasn't making them better and just getting upset, I thought I'd just let her finish them quickly. Professional Behavior: 3. She also talked with the other manicurists loudly and across the tables. As my mother had passed and could not be with us in the first marriage in the family, I wanted to spend some quality time with two mothers I did have. As the tables are arranged such that one does have to talk a bit loudly, I figured I'll just talk to them in the pedicure room rather than fighting through their chatter. I did ask her politely if I can ask my stepmother a question and that I wanted some time to talk with her, the woman mentioned that's fine. She however kept talking about her issues, family problems, daughter's parties, etc, more loudly. to the other specialists. She had no attitude and no mean way of saying it. She just seemed clueless in terms of how her behavior was affecting the mood of the customers. 4. Furthermore, in the pedicure room, the women continued talking, with the woman doing my nails the loudest and talkative. She barely paused and continued complaining about hours, work, traffic, drunkenness, among other unprofessional talk. My best friend and I tried to talk over her at one point. She stopped for a moment to hear us. When we mentioned about the colors of the wedding, she then interrupted our conversation and started talking about colors at another wedding, then a graduation, and then other events, again talking over us. As the massage experience was fantastic, the good will from that and the fact that it was a bridal shower accommodation made me still want to pay a good enough tip to the nail specialists. When I complained though about the nails and showed them to the front desk, the woman nodded, agreed that it wasn't done great, and simply asked if I wanted to leave tip in the envelope together for the pedicure and manicure or separate. Overall, I would also say that the place isn't the best I've been too in terms of how they treat their customers and overall service. If it weren't for the nail specialist, it would have been a fairly good enough experience that I would have considered recommending to others Citrus as a possibility for their bridal showers. Additionally, there was a general negative feeling of the place - the front has mildly business-y and cold tones. This could perhaps come from poor training, poor troubleshooting, not caring so much about their jobs, or not realizing that they need to be the one to handle complaints so that the customers would want to come back? Recommendation Status: I would recommend Citrus for massages. Although I've had better, it was still amazing. I would not recommend this place for something so meaningful as a bridal shower for massage and nails combined. Just reserve the room in the back and have a good relaxing time there. I really don't get most of the negative reviews on here, but to each reviewer his/her own, I guess? I called Citrus last week because I realized that I don't think I had cut my hair since my wedding almost a year before, and figured that I'd splurge and get my eyebrows done, too. They were able to make me appointments for both that evening, no problem. I arrived a little early and the girls at the front desk couldn't have been more polite or gracious, showing me where to sit while I waited and coming over to check on me quite a few times while I waited and ask if I wanted a drink. After a short wait, and still prior to my 6:45 appointment, Lindsay came over and got me to do my eyebrows. While I had been waxed before, this was my first eyebrow wax, but Lindsay and I chatted right through it, and before I knew it I was done! I went back to the waiting area where I didn't mind waiting for Kathryn to be able to cut my hair because there was a hot guy in the salon to drool over, and plenty of magazines to read. When Kathryn came to talk to me before I got my hair washed, she convinced me that I really could pull off the hairstyle I wanted, and in full faith of her confidence, I went for it. She apologized over and over for being behind schedule, and gave me an amazing cut. I will let her do whatever she wants to my hair from now on! She is definitely worth the money for a senior stylist. While Citrus is a little pricey, I left feeling like every penny was well spent. I convinced myself that I wouldn't get my eyebrows done all the time, but now I feel like I want to go back just to chat with Lindsay as much as to get them redone when the time comes! As far as ambience, the high ceilings and decor are definitely high end salon, not down home feel, but the people made me feel so welcome that I definitely enjoyed my time of indulgence, rather than having it feel cold. I made my next appointment with Kathryn before I even left the salon, and that says a lot for someone who can count the number of salon (or non-Hair Cuttery, for that matter) haircuts she has ever had on one hand! And I definitely want to check out the spa services sometime in the near future. Perhaps a hint to my husband for our anniversary this weekend? read more

I went to Citrus for 6 years until I moved to the West Coast. Monica is an AMAZING colorist. I really think of her as a skillful artist. She listens carefully to your ideas and then offers suggestions. Every time she colored my hair I walked away feeling thrilled with the results and impressed with her talent. I went to Citrus a long time ago and had my hair cut and was pleased so I decided to try it again a few months ago but this time for color. After 3 visits of trying to go from light brown to blonde, i literally had orange spots in my hair and my colorist told me you couldn't see them since they were underneath the surface and made me schedule another appt which i still paid full price for to "blend it in". After the third appointment and my friends pointing out all the different color spots, it was a joke to even consider going back. I spent close to $400 after all was said and done. I had to part my hair on another side just to cover up the spots! I wouldn't recommend getting blonde done here or any kind of drastic change....I was also late to an appointment once and the attitude from the colorist and staff was so rude and extremely over the top....it lasted the whole appointment and it made me feel like i had to profusely keep apologizing. it made me feel so uncomfortable and the atmosphere isn't the most welcoming to begin with. read more

Visiting the area and was referred by a friend. Citrus looks wel manicured and modern. From the koi pond outside to the shampoo bowls with reclining chairs. I would trust Christina Completly-(Stylist)- Stephanie gave me a great manicure and was very sweet. Ezee gave the best hot stone massage and really worked out my soar muscles. Horrible place. It looks very nice, but don't let that fool you. I went to have the bottom half of my hair dyed blond, by Jess. Long story short, I was there for 3 hours moved around and around, looked like a fool, and left with soaking wet brown hair. They made me pay $200 for nothing and them blamed it on me by saying that I said Carmel...which I didn't but at least my hair should have looked different (I have dark brown hair) even my kids (who I had with me) didn't see a difference. Very rude people at the counter too; when I asked to speak to the manager they told me he/she was on vacation, call Monday. I called and called and no one would return my call.
