For too long I've searched for an auto repair shop to finally install a new air conditioner in my 2006 Honda CRV. On a fixed income, I knew it would be a "pretty penny" and going to affect my summer budget. After five quotes in the Everett area, 1 a quick guess, three from looking up the cost from the " book" and one from a place I've used over the past few years who I knew was competent, but also on the high end of the cost scale. Fortunately, the last place, found online, was City Auto Repair. Not only was I impressed to see that it was owned and managed by a woman, but when I met Liz and finished hearing about how her company developed a quote, I was satisfied! She and Craig, the mechanic servicing my car, literally showed me all the old parts and explained exactly why they weren't working anymore and explained step by step how a new conditioner would operate. Then they gave me a quote and it was four hundred dollars less than the lowest of the quotes I had received. Three days later I drove home with working air, though this summer thus far hasn't required much of it yet. Kudos to Liz and Craig for their thorough, personal and very caring work. Kudos! read more

I've been here twice and both times I received excellent service. The first time I brought my moter home that was overheating. Not a lot of places will take moter homes to start with, because they take up so much space, but also it's a pain to work on. It didn't end up being the radiator like we thought just a bad motor fan. City auto was pretty quick to find the issue and repair it for us so we could get back to camping. City auto also does really great all over vehicles inspections and oil changes. I went in thinking my breaks we're definitely due to be replaced and was happy to hear that they are good to go for a while. I like how you get your quote by text to go to a website to approve. I like how friendly the front desk people and mechanics are. I definitely will be making all my vehicle appointments here. read more

This shop is great! They got me in without an appointment and helped bleed my coolant after one of my coolant hoses blew. I swapped out the hose and tried to bleed the car in a parking lot where I pulled off the road and it didn't work out so I called this place and Tyler did a great job with communication and set me up over the phone and said we'll be ready for you when you come in. I have been to 5 different repair shops in one day before I stumbled across this shop and I'm GLAD I did. Liz who greeted & helped me at the front desk was not only helpful but she was super sweet and nice! She talked to me through the whole process without making me feel like I was an inconvenience (which is the feeling the other 4 shops made me feel). She gave me no BS talk or tried to up-sell me on anything and even tried her hardest to fit me in the schedule for the day in which was was able to do! I had the most incredible and pleasant experience at City Radiator and Auto Repair. Being new to WA, I was looking for a mechanic and came across City Radiator. From start to finish, Liz was fantastic. She addressed all my questions and we set up an appointment. Once there with my car, Liz explained everything they'd be doing and gave me an estimate up front. Her mechanic was super thorough and I was pleased with the outcome. The rating I left is because I have to . I was referred to city radiator by a good friend and a long time patron on theirs . And oh my dear , he's a senior citizen and they saw him coming a mile away. I literally went in to have an oil change and make sure my car was road-trip worthy, and that was the last time my car ever functioned again . I immediatly had to have it towed back to the shop the evening I got it back from them because it sounded as if my wheel was going to come off. Mind you , I went in for an oil change. Next morning I am told there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car . Little did they know I had a video of what they did and they didn't even have the ball joint connected '! They pounded the heck out of my wheel and proceeded to tell me there was nothing wrong (it's magically fixed )and it was fixed but they said they did nothing . Meanwhile they charged me 500 for five coil packs and the coil packs weren't brand new but they wouldn't show me any of my old parts in fact when I tried to talk to them to the mechanic the eomsn at the front desk told me what she wanted me to know. Do not take your car there they are feeding off of the good natured and trusting senior citizens of our community !! It's just disgraceful read more

I have been to this shop three times now, and have only experienced the best in customer service, better than fair pricing, and excellent work done on my vehicle. I have been to other repair shops in the past with poor service, and good service, but honestly City Radiator and Auto Repair has been the best so far. I would recommend them to anyone that needs work done on a vehicle. I saw Curt C's post about Liz (I think she is the one up front) I only spoke with her on my first visit, she was extremely pleasant and helpful. Buyer be warned, shady.. Asked them to drill and tap some pedals for me. They said they needed to buy a new pedal set. When I returned they had bought a $24 set from pep boys that didn't fit on my pedals, nothing was drilled or tapped. They charged me $50 for the $24 pedals and $90 labor. I was told to come back a couple days later and they would fix the mistake. Went back, no refund for the pedals that didn't fit in the first place. City you guys can keep my $50 but my hometown deserves to know your out only for your own pocket. read more

This is a family business so both the husband & wife run this place. I feel very good about this place & I know I can trust them with my car. I have NEVER had a problem with them. As a female, I know men treat you differently when you take your car to the shop & sometimes with certain places you feel like you got ripped off but I have never felt like that with City Auto Repair. It's hard to find an honest, not pushy, and fairly priced auto-repair shop. However, City Radiator is all that. I have taken in multiple cars over the past few years; two of my own and two of my girlfriends cars. They are never pushy in trying to get you to fix any "extra" things they find. The best part is they always give you options. They suggest other ways to fix the issue for different prices. One time I was having issue with my clutch. They took it in test drove it around the block inspected it and said it was something small that took less than 10 mins. They handed back my keys and said no charge. They have always worked with me when I need to leave my car there over night either drop it off earlier or pick it up the next day. Super friendly and always professional. They really do know how to treat a customer and make them want to come back. read more

I was on my way, from Bellingham, to drop my husband off at work, in Everett, then headed to my daughter's in Fife but barely made it to Everett. I thought it might be my brakes, so I drove to the closest shop but it was not the brakes and I was sent across the street to another shop. This shop sent me to City Radiator and Auto Center, so I called before hand and tried to explain what I was told was wrong with my car. Racheal was a God sent, very knowledgeable, pleasant, accommodating and worked with me. They were honest, efficient, thorough and basically amazing. It turned out to be my air conditioning compressor, it locked up. Racheal was able to get the guys over at Avis to come pick me up. Did I mention the shop was closing and she was kind enough to take of me. I was expecting my car to be there a couple of days but low and behold my car was ready mid afternoon the following day !! Being that they are closed on Sunday and I happened to be in the area, I stopped by with my spare set of keys to check on it. Even though my motorhome's repair is not complete, they somehiow got it INSIDE their secured garage to protect my property! Kudos! I worked in Everett years ago and used this shop and had great service. I moved to Bothell and worked in the area so needed something more convenient. We used Thrasher's In Bothell and had great luck. Frank retired some time back and sold the business and Bothell Toyota Specialists took it over. They are great but they didn't know our car. I went back to work in Everett and started using City Radiator again and should never have stopped. Now I'm going to go out of my way to continue using this shop. They do great work. My vehicle did not pass emissions and no longer having a shop I had to find one. I checked around and the highest rated one (from other review sites) was City Radiator. They got me in the next day, flushed my injection system and replaced the PCV valve. I retested and passed with flying colors. I consider myself quite adept at mechanics and know my way around a gas emissions analyzer. A comparison of before and after readings (at the State station) were dramatic. CR didn't know me from Adam, nor my knowledge. There was no attempt at any unnecessary repairs or parts. I am very, very pleased with this establishment. An extra bonus is that they are all of a block and a half from my condo! read more

My experience was not good, currently taking City Auto to Small Claims. Requested quote for Catalytic Converter, was $300 less than other shops AND I showed them that. 1 problem, my truck has 2, which NOBODY seemed to know here. After the one replacement, truck was STILL having the same issues. THEN I Paid over $800 for a "tune up" which was REQUIRED by City Auto to warranty the catalytic converter. Long story short? JUST paid $800 for dual Catalytic Converter replacement because the front one wasn't changed, it burned out the new one. The crankshaft sensor code is still coming up, they ALSO replaced that and there is STILL an issue with the O'reilleys distributor they replaced and charged me $196 for PLUS charging me separately for the rotor and cap. Which according to Oreillys website the MOST expensive distributor I could find was $149 COMPLETE. That is QUITE a markup. As well, I see NO OFFER of any warranty on parts NOW. RESPONSE: Yes the work was done 5 months ago, 21 emails, a return visit, in which I was told your parts were fine, although I was pulling codes for your parts, and if you stand by your parts then why was your response only "We did what you asked us to do" not any other resolution? I have the burnt out catalytic converter you put in, I have the one you took out, as I asked for the parts and I have what you neglected to mention or explain why the estimates were $300 less than the two other estimates I showed you and I have the fact, in order to warranty the parts, I HAD to pay for the tune up and distributor, in order to warranty the partial catalytic converter that was put in. Forgive me but spending $1,200 to have the same issues? No. There is a reason you go to a professional, to have it done right. read more

This place is a sorry excuse for a shop. I refuse to use them again even if it means I will need to pay full price for repairs instead of using my warranty. They replaced my water pump, timing belt and head. Less than 2 months later my car over heated and my water pump went out again. When I popped the hood my upper radiator hose was almost completely off of my radiator. My oil wasnt evwn showing on the dipstick and my coolant looked like mud. When I called the shop rachel blamed everything on car hop who I bought my car through and have a warranty thriugh. She said that car hop supplies parts and they just do the labor. So it cant be their fault..... news flash! You did the labor and the labor was what screwed up the water pumo in the first place. If the coolant system is not properly flushed and the coolant still looks like mud from the head being blown the coolant is obviously not able to do its job of properly cooling, heating or circulating through the car including the water pump. Contaminated coolant can cause a water pump to be contaminated. When I asked why I wasnt told my coolant doesnt meet manufacturers rrequirements I was told that there were emails between them and car hop but nobody mentioned it to me. Also with a hose being that loose it could cause air to get into the coolant system which is also not good. They should have checked my oil and let me know it was low especially since the head just blew. For some unknown reason this shop thinks they should not be responsible for the tow because the work they did had not fixed my problem. On top of that rachel has been extremely rude to me. Every time I have tried to voice my concerns and tell her the facts she insists on interrupting me. I had asked to speak to her manager but apparently she is the manager and nobody works above her. I refuse to talk to her and be treated this way. Rachel insisted on talking to me like I was stupid. She asked me how I knew my coolant wasnt able to do ots job. Obviously if it looks like mud its not really coolant is it.... being a radiator shop they should know this. Its a part they repalced that went bad due to the job they did ao therefore its their fault and nobody should pay for the tow bill but them. She told me on the phone of it was a part they replaced they would cover the tow. They did labor but still refuse to cover the tow. Do not use this shop. They will fuck you over read more

I recently had my AC compressor on my truck replaced by this so called service shop. Rachel who works the front counter, did I mention she is the owners daughter is a total scammer and will try to milk you for every penny she can get. I've been going there for years and it used to be a reputable shop 5 or 6 years ago but not anymore. My AC on my truck quit working and turned out to be a compressor. When I first took it in she was very rude and tried to use a series of scare tactics. I brushed it off thinking she was having a bad day and scheduled an appointment to return another day. I dropped the truck off as planned and went about my business knowing my truck would be ready the next day. The next day I get a call from Rachel telling me I should replace my cycle switch a $30.00 part. So I ask where it is on the vehicle and she tells me it's on the top of the engine compartment so I respectfully decline. This is where it all started. She gets an attitude with me and yells at me telling me "fine well I will just call you back when we find out its bad" At this point I am seeing a trend in her very poor customer service skills. Now the conversation has gone sour and me being the paying customers decide I've had enough and ask her to put my truck back together and let me know when it's ready. I get a call 2 hours later from here daddy, Rich who is the owner telling me my truck is done and ready to be picked up. I arrange a time with Rich to come pick up the truck. Upon arrival I find the fuse cover sitting on the floor of the passenger side of the truck and grease everywhere all over my leather seats. I go back inside and talk to Rich and he sends out his best technician which I might add is the only competent person there to address my concerns. This is not the first time they had messed up. A year before that I took my work truck in to have the heater core changed. After getting it back I noticed the dash was not even and when I went to use my AC it blew nothing but hot air. Turns out they had to evacuate the AC and never recharged it. When I addressed this with the owner his response was "it only goes back in one way that must have been how it was when we got it." Being a business owner myself I pay a lot of attention to detail, it is what real professionals do. At this point I have lived with it for over a year and had kind of forgotten about it until the bad memories came back up when they did a Mickey Mouse job on my AC compressor replacement. The poor customer service and verbal attack from Rachel just nailed the coffin shut. About a week later I am changing the oil on the truck only to notice they removed some wiring from the inner fender well which they told me they had to pull to access the AC compressor and never put it back. WOW! Once I found that I decided to look over the whole install, come to find out they only put 1 bolt back in to hold my receiver dryer or condenser as some might know it by and just did a horrible job all the way around. The owner does not care; Rachel does not care, as long as you are sending money that is all they care about. Once they get your money good luck to you if you don't like something, something goes wrong or heaven forbid you have an opinion about their poor craftsmanship. All and all I should of learned the first time when I had my heater core done and they threw it back together. If I can educate just one person this review was worth the time, effort and energy. There are plenty of reputable shops out there that care, will treat you with respect and bend over backwards to make you happy but this is just not one of them. On another note if you look at the reviews online and read them, none of them, okay maybe a few but 90% of them were written by people they paid to write them. This is an honest review by a real honest person. City Radiator has no business working on people's cars and should be shut down. Thank you for your time. read more

I initially started going here for oil changes out of pure convenience as I work within walking distance. The price is reasonable and roughly the same as I'd spend at a Jiffy Lube. The BEST thing about this place is that they're 100% honest. I've brought up certain issues and I always get the most accurate and honest diagnosis. If I get an oil change and something doesn't need my air filter is still clean, they don't replace it. If I think a belt is squeezing and they find its just a rock, they don't charge me. It's awesome! Being a single mom with limited cash flow, this kind of honesty is extremely valuable to me. I recently took it in for a new water pump and although it set me back a little financially, they showed me the old one to prove it was needed. They called me while replacing it asking if I wanted to replace the belt as well but suggested it wasn't necessary as the belt was is excellent condition. That kind of honesty will keep me a customer for life. I'm so happy I found them! Also, Rachael is amazing and so so so good at explaining everything to me. So very appreciated! read more

Wow, where do I begin. This was once the ONLY shop that I took all of my personal, company and families vehicles to be serviced and repaired at. I loved that it was a family owned and operated business and felt very comfortable trusting that the work would be done right and at the right price. Rich and Rachel always put me at ease and always gave me the option of what needed to be taken care of right away and what we could continue to keep an eye out for. This is no longer the case, it is just not the same since Rich sold and they let Rachel go, BIG MISTAKE! I called several times to schedule an appointment, received no call backs. Finally when I sent my guy in to drop the work truck off the guy at the counter seemed to know NOTHING about anything, they struggled through the check in procedure, seemed very nervous and could not tell my guy any information on the problem at hand, like they knew nothing about cars! It gave my guy such an uneasy feeling that he left. I am sorry to say but I will never be doing business with this company again. Big mistake to change what was once the best auto repair shop around.
