I enjoyed my time here. I was able to make myself an Arnold Palmer, so that's already a fantastic start. The food was really good, and the service was fine. I went during quiet weekday lunch time, so I was able to sit in and read a nice book while eating some good BBQ.

I want to update my review to 5 stars after the delicious catering spread we served at our Bourbon-Rye-Scotch whisky tasting. We had to provide a substantial meal prior to the tasting, right? We dug into tender beef brisket, pulled chicken, vegetarian green beans, mac and cheese, and the piece de resistance, warm peach cobbler with whipped cream. Our order, we placed the week before, was ready for pickup, packed nicely with plates, napkins, utensils, serving implements, bread, and several flavors and spice of bbq sauce. Our guests enjoyed the tender brisket and smoked pulled chicken. The beans, without bacon, were still very flavorful with onion and seasoning. Though hardly anyone touched the bread, they raved about the Mac and cheese. This was a good and hearty option, our guests enjoyed the food, there are plenty of leftover, and best of all, after a busy week, there wasn't much for me to do. And now on to the veritable whisky river.

Solid choice for barbeque in the area. The restaurant itself is clean and decorated nicely with plenty of space to sit down and enjoy a meal. Service is quick and friendly from the counter though it can be difficult at times to find the correct person when they call out names for the order. They provide lots of different sauce options here though I would like a bit more contrast between the different options as the combinations feel a bit similar for me -- generally skewing a bit more towards the sweet side overall and not too acidic. You can find all your favorite meats here and the common sides, though there aren't really options that feel particularly special here. The prices are fairly good here, in the mid to lower side -- with plenty of combination options to keep the price per person lower as well. The food itself is fairly enjoyable. The meats are fairly tender though it can be a bit dry without barbeque sauce. The sausage for me was smoked nicely, though I didn't find the smoked turkey to be as good. The beef brisket was quite tender though not very juicy. The sides like the hush puppies and texas toast were done fairly well and complimented the entree nicely. Overall, reasonably priced choice for barbeque with a good number of meat and side options available. The flavors aren't the most amazing, but good enough to satisfy a barbeque craving.

Huge shout out to the lovely Deerfield City BBQ cashier, she was so helpful to everyone in line and took the extra effort to made sure they took advantage off their City BBQ Awards and coupons! I came during their 25th anniversary celebration and picked up their special pork and chicken sandwich. Definitely a solid BBQ option for the area, I've been here a few times and it's always been good. I also like the nice variety of sauces. Carry out was pretty fast even without doing an online order ahead of time. Even if you don't come here often it is still with it to get the app to take advantage of the deals they do offer. An easy location to get to as well a its on the corner of a strip mall with multiple entrances. The restaurant also appeared clean and they had a good number of staff to help with the dinner rush.

The menu also offered other vegan options such as the Vegetable Jambalaya (which I didn't order because it's super spicy), and the Asian Vegetable Noodle Bowl (with tofu). I would like to come back to try the bowl for sure! The decor is interesting; it made me feel like I was in the 1980s... somewhere out of town. We were able to get last minute reservations for 8:30 on a Friday, which was surprising given how extremely busy this place is on the weekends. We arrived on time and were seated quickly without a wait, which was another impressive moment given how packed the restaurant was. Dining here is like dining in the city on the weekends, with a majority of the crowd tending toward older groups of friends or families without children. There was one family of four who brought their child with them, but generally we saw couples and groups of friends. Dress seems standardly smart casual. Food: The menu here is organized into three sections: small plates, mid-size meals, and entree-sized portions. Keep in mind the mid-sized plates can be on the larger side, so the tapas-style menu can be deceiving. We ordered the steak and frites and branzino as our mains, with polenta fries on the side. For apps, we ordered the butternut squash ravioli and were greeted with complimentary cheesy biscuits to start. We finished our meal with the olive oil cake, covered in raspberries. Based on what we ordered, we'd give this place a 4/5, simply because the steak my husband ordered was a tiny bit tough and overcooked (ordered medium rare, received medium well). The cut was a strip or a ribeye, so unfortunately on the tougher side, and less flavorful. My fish was nicely seared but the cannellini beans that were paired with the branzino just didn't do it for me. Branzino is a white fish that tolerates spice and garnishes very well, so it could have benefited from some more complex flavors. That said, we will be back for the ravioli. I'd wager that it is the best thing on the winter menu (this place rotates menu selections somewhat frequently). It was creamy, complex, and soft, with a delicious umami sauce. The olive oil cake we shared for dessert was also very delicious, moist and well-paired with simple cream and berries. Nice and simple but did the trick without being overwhelming or cloyingly sweet. The biscuits are also a nice touch: soft and buttery, not dry, and baked fresh. Overall, I'd say that veggie and pasta dishes are the way to go here, and potentially the fish if it is paired with a more complex side in the future. We look forward to future menus!

It wasn't so much a speakeasy because it was not hidden, but that didn't really matter to us once we were there . I thought the focal point would be a bar in the middle of the restaurant, but there was never any bar that I could locate so that was also confusing. The food was really good. We had black garlic, deviled eggs, some tuna tartare and a lamb Ragu that was really good. So if you're looking for speakeasy, this is not really a speakeasy, but it has really good Asian food so just an FYI when browsing the Internet.
