Service need improvement. Let me start off saying I love City Barbeque food. The problem I had at the newly open store # 10075 McDonough GA. location was this. The young man who were preparing your food had no gloves on and no hair net. When picking up your meats he did used tongs in one hand while holding and looking at his cell phone in the other hand. I don't understand why you need to look at your cell phone while preparing food. Can you at least wait until you finish your orders or go on break. Do you know how filthy your phones are. And the area where you get your condiments were also filthy with paper and sauce that had spilled all over the counter. Managers this is unaccepted I will not come to this store again. We ordered a dinner for five through drive thru windows. 2 meats;Smoked turkey, brisket, 2 pint size sides;Mac n cheese, green beans, five buns. $70.19. Good portion size of meats. Everything was delicious, except the brisket was dry and burned. I called the resturant. The manager on duty, Artis was very apologetic and allowed us to return it and replaced it. Normally my experience and the food is excellent, today(8/6/26) my food was below the normal standards. My hush puppies were dry, hard and burned. The Corn Pudding was over cooked and very dry. We have gone here a few times sometime with drive up order ahead and sometimes order when we get there. One thing that's consistent is they are SLOW, but not because the food is made to order it's because the entire staff is mostly teenagers who often look confused/overwhelmed and move with no sense of urgency. The last time we went we ordered ahead and still had to wait 45 minutes for our management. Management did give me $10 off towards my next visit but it will be a while before I endure again for average "fast food" bbq. read more

Let me say I have a green egg, I have to tell you this is the best flavorful, tender pork I have had outside my house. staff was helpful with my parents in assisted living with lunch. They prepared trays they both could navigate. The sauce is so tasty I went back and bought a bottle to go with the barbecue. I don't know what they did wrong but it was not how it should be. I ordered fries that were completely soggy. The chicken was served barely above room temperature and lacked the smoky flavor and seasoning you'd expect from a barbecue restaurant. It was bland and uninspiring. The mac and cheese was decent but nothing memorable--just average. The biggest letdown was the smoked beans. They lacked flavor and didn't have the rich, smoky taste that typically makes barbecue sides stand out. Overall, the food fell well short of expectations. Between the temperature of the chicken and the lack of flavor throughout the meal, this visit was a disappointment. From the door to back out the door was a great experience! We were welcomed in and it felt extremely genuine. Our cashier who took the order was extremely thoughtful and helpful. She explained and asked questions! Let's not talk about the best SWEET TEA! If you don't like it that sweet you can add water or ice! Stumbled upon this restaurant and glad I did. I walked into the restaurant & met with warm welcomes. I got suggestions on my sides from the cashier, Tee; very friendly. The restaurant is nice & clean and staff is nice. Enjoyed the dining in experience & access to togo containers was very easy. The smokehouse salad is amazing. If you taking your food to go make sure they put your turkey in the bag as well. The food is good but they tend to leave things out the bag so make sure you check then double check. The baked beans are good, sometimes the Mac and cheese is a little too hard. I went to City Barbecue in McDonough, GA. I walked in. Never greeted. Never acknowledged. I stood at the counter for about three minutes. No one even spoke to me. Three people were standing about fifteen feet from the counter. Two of them looked at me but did not say a word. One young lady walked over to the trash can and did not acknowledge me. Nothing to see here folks! Sorry, Team City Barbecue but I wasn't impressed with my experience. The customer service and carry out container were the highlights of my visit. I have to admit that I did go in at about 6 o'clock on Sunday, so maybe because of this they were out of a lot of things. Firstly, they were out of vinegar coleslaw, they were out of smoked turkey, they were out of something else I wasn't going to get it anyway, but I don't recall what it was. I initially went there for the smoked turkey, and ended up getting a combo meal with brisket and smoked sausage. Both were basic, in fact, the smoked sausage was a brand that I bought from Sam's. Nothing special whatsoever about it. The baked beans were blah, and the green beans had some strange seasoning in it that I could not put my finger on, but I ended up not eating either of the sides. My Texas toast was dark and overcooked. So literally I just ended up eating the meat again. I was in the Atlanta-Metro area for Mothers' Day weekend. We were hungry and my niece suggested City BBQ for lunch. I didn't really know what to expect since I'd never been here or heard of it. We placed the Party Pack order that feeds 8-10 people online for pick up and it took about 30 minutes to prepare. It's a 5-7 minute drive so I got there a little early. The interior was high energy to say the least. You can see the staff on the line moving like a well-oiled machine. Every employee was busy doing something. I was asked by 4 different staff members if I had been helped. All of them asked my name, checked on my order and came back to let me know that they were working on it and I should have it shortly. While I waited, I noticed that the dining area was packed along with the patio. A couple people came in with minor complaints and the lady that helped them was very professional and patient. Now it's my turn and the gentleman packing my order gives me a nod to let me know that it's ready. With everything I just witnessed during my wait and the smell inside, I was now excited for this. Upon taking the items out of the bag, I noticed an item was missing. Ok....since it wasn't that far I said to myself that I'll just drive up there with the receipt and let them know. Instead, I called first and a gentleman by the name of Cory (not sure of his spelling) answered the phone. I let him know that I was missing an item from the order. He in a very polite and helpful way let me know that when I have time to come back to the store for that item. He also said that when I arrive, to let whoever I speak to know that I talked to Cory regarding that item. I drove back to the restaurant, got the item, and left. While I was there, the gentleman I spoke with was very apologetic and polite. I'm not sure what I was expecting but I tell you what, it wasn't anything I mentioned above. Coming from Los Angeles, this type of service doesn't exist. Every person I encountered couldn't have been more of a pleasure to deal with. Southern hospitality is a real thing, and you will witness it firsthand at this City BBQ location. I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures of the food and the restaurant. There were three people in my party and the consensus was that the food was lacking seasoning. All of the tables for 3 or more people were dirty. First, 2 people ordered the brisket sandwich. The brisket was tender, but without using one of the signature barbecue sauces, the sandwich lacked depth. Other than smoked flavor, there were no salty elements or any type of seasoning. They rated the brisket 4/10. The hush puppies were decent, but not spectacular. The hush puppies were rated a 6/10. None of us were in love with any of the sauces and collectively gave the sauces a 3/10. I ordered the chicken wings (fried). The wings still tasted smoked and were dry and unseasoned. They do not sauce the wings because they expect you to use one of their signature sauces. I didn't like ANY of the sauces and ended up using salt, pepper, and Frank's red hot sauce at the table. I gave the wings a 2/10. I also ordered fries which were limp, and you guessed it, unseasoned. The fries were rated a 3/10. The best thing we ordered were the drinks (I had bottled water and the others had fountain drinks). We rate the drinks 10/10. Having gone to the John's Creek location, I was excited to try the McDonough location...very disappointed. 1. Smell. Hoping to at least smell the element of good BBQ. I did not. The inside of the place s.elled of dirty mop water. 2. Food. Not overly impressed with the flavor of the food in general. Again having gone to the other location I expected no drop off. This location was not it. 3. Staff. My first time visiting when it was open staff was great even when the food was not so great. Now, when I decided to try this place again over several months later. Staff was not really interested, never greeted, as we were trying to decide if we were going to stay. Ultimately we left and went up the road to the competition and were satisfied. This was my first time here and I had a great experience. This place is still new so it was very busy but the food still came quickly and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, 1 pound of Brisket, potato salad and the green beans with bacon. The brisket was fantastic. It's was Smokey, juicy, flavorful, tender without completely falling apart and had some decent bark on it. I loved the potato salad as well as the collard greens that I tried. Drove by here for a late lunch and they were no place to park. I went home and ordered online. I am literally 5 minutes from this place. It cost me about $50 the food was ok. Was not a fan of the Mac and cheese nor the greens. The BBQ was really good and so was the sauce. I also ordered a peach cobble and it was way too sweet, it had more sugar than anything else. I had passed this place two days in a row and decided to try it. I got the brisket sandwich, and it was just okay. I did not care for the sauce that it was paired with, and it came out cold. I also didn't care for everything being wrapped in parchment paper. The server was okay, but seemed a little agitated when I was clarifying some of the items on the menu.
