Crispy Baked Potato, Leg + Thigh, Smoked Turkey, Beef Brisket
Stephen M.

I'm typically weary of chain barbecue restaurants and now confirmed for good reason. Barbecue is a cooking technique and cuisine that requires attention and dare I say, "love". I didn't get any of that in the three meat combo that I ordered. The brisket and chicken really weren't notable at all and lacked memorable flavor. The turkey was perfectly and stood out between the three meats. I'll admit, the crispy baked potato was one of the best I've ever had.

Okay-bbq. My husband was craving bbq and wanted to try this place out. We ordered pulled pork, pulled chicken, and chicken thigh with leg. For our sides, we tried the mac &cheese and corn pudding. We've definitely have had better bbq. The flavors were not there. The buttered toast was really good though. Probably what was most disappointing to me was the banana pudding and chocolate cake. Usually, chocolate cake recipes call for a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors of all the other ingredients. This chocolate cake tastes like it contained a cup of salt. All I could taste was the salt. I think my friends would be shocked to hear that I threw away my favorite dessert.

Mac n cheese, fries, brisket, turkey, and Texas toast!

Walked in at prime time on a weeknight, and there were a few customers dinning in but a whole lot of to go orders. The inside has plenty of seating, there's also a large patio, and it has the overall look and feel of a chain bbq place. Took a while to order at the counter, as the person ahead of us had a lot questions. Would have been nice if they'd added a cashier to speed us along, but once we ordered the food came quickly. The fries were cold but were quickly exchanged with an apology with some fresh ones. The brisket was ok, chicken good, and the turkey surprisingly my favorite. Mac and cheese was also top notch, rich with a cheesy crust. Everything was a good sized portion too.

Great food at City BBQ! My review is based on catering order for 20 people. They did a great job with the food and set up. We had brisket, chicken, baked beans, green beans, corn bread, and cookies. See pic. Nice layout on plastic sheet with each item labeled including the three different types of sauces. The food. My choice was sandwich with brisket, chicken, and spicy BBQ sauce. With side of green beans and baked beans. Very tasty. All the other folks enjoyed their food and more than enough to go around. My next task is to visit the restaurant which is conveniently located in large shopping complex with lots of free parking. Got to try the ribs too. Enjoy!

Love coming here even for the unconventional brisket tacos. There is something for everyone. Be prepared to pay a heftier price.

I fully understand the hype!!!…read more Omggggg! This food was so delicious, fresh and the service was absolutely superb!!! The restaurant isn't anything fancy, but I can appreciate the efficiency of every Diane being properly utilized! I can honestly say that I'll be a frequent flyer here.

Business travel has a rhythm to it. Airport. Rental car. Donor meetings. Hotel that proudly…read moreadvertises a "hot breakfast" consisting of powdered eggs, coffee that tastes vaguely of burnt hazelnuts, and general disappointment. This particular morning in Atlanta was no different. As I pushed uninspired scrambled eggs around my plate I did what any food-obsessed traveler does: I opened the Michelin Guide. Surely Atlanta had something worth driving for before the afternoon meetings began. The city's Michelin stars leaned heavily toward pristine sushi counters where lunch could easily become a three-hour exercise in restraint and expense. Not today. Instead, a Bib Gourmand caught my eye. Heirloom Market BBQ. The address looked odd. The photos looked even stranger. Was Michelin seriously recommending what appeared to be a convenience store? Naturally, I was intrigued. The closer I looked, the less it resembled your grandfather's barbecue joint. Yes, there was brisket and pork. But there was also kimchi. Pickled vegetables. Gochujang. Color. Acid. Freshness. Suddenly the idea of barbecue for lunch didn't feel like signing up for an afternoon food coma. By 11:30, I was standing in line beside construction workers, office employees, and locals who clearly knew something I didn't. I ordered the smoked, diced, and braised spicy pork topped with kimchi slaw and cucumber kimchi. Korean barbecue sauce arrived on the side. For good measure, I added the green tomato kimchi--a mix of sweet and spicy pickled green tomatoes, jalapeños, and radishes. The pork was everything good barbecue should be. Tender without falling apart. Smoky without becoming bitter. Moist without relying on sauce. Deeply satisfying in that primitive way smoked meat always seems to be. The green tomato kimchi was extraordinary. Bright, crunchy, layered with acidity, sweetness, and just enough jalapeño heat to keep your attention. Every bite reset your palate before the next forkful of pork. It's the kind of side dish that refuses to stay a side dish. The Korean barbecue sauce deserves its own paragraph. Gochujang led the charge, backed by enough vinegar to cut through the richness and enough heat to remind you someone in the kitchen enjoys having fun. Against all odds, I managed to finish lunch without wearing any of it on my green Oxford shirt. A personal victory. Heirloom Market isn't polished. Service is efficient rather than memorable. You order, you eat, you leave. That's the point. What lingers isn't the hospitality. It's the confidence. This kitchen knows exactly what it wants to be. Southern barbecue filtered through Korean flavors isn't a gimmick here--it's the language they speak fluently. The entire meal reminded me of La Barbecue in Austin, another place where smoke is only part of the conversation. Michelin eventually rewarded La Barbecue with a star. Heirloom may still wear the Bib Gourmand designation, but when it comes to flavor, it's operating in the same league. Will I return? Without hesitation. Sometimes the best meal in town isn't hidden behind velvet curtains or reservation apps. Sometimes it's tucked inside what looks like an old convenience store, quietly reminding everyone that extraordinary food rarely cares about appearances.

The restaurant has a laid back vibe, perfect for families and groups. There is plenty of space for even larger groups and I noticed a number of business people enjoying the setup. I also had the smoked cheeseburger which I highly recommend. Sides like mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans complement the meats well. The mac and cheese, in particular, receives rave reviews for its creamy texture. Owens & Hull BBQ stands out for its commitment to quality barbecue in a welcoming environment. This spot used to be called something else and from my understanding they merged together. I wasn't a fan of the previous bbq spot but this is ok. As a family, we had ribs, sausage, collards, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. The smoke ring on the ribs was nice; however, there wasn't a great bark on them. I didn't care for any of the bbq sauces. The sausage was ok, it had cheese inside of it. All of the sides were average to good. I like that the platter was served with onions, good pickles, and white bread. That part reminded me of bbq at home. It's pretty easy to order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. We went on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty. I'm guessing they have more lunchtime traffic. I do plan to come back a little earlier so that I can try their wings before they're sold out.

Since I am riding solo this Valentine's Day I decided to treat myself out for dinner…read more I sat at the bar area near the register. Carol was my server. She was awesome! Attentive, but not bothersome. I ordered the special ~ four succulent shrimp on top of salmon on top of mashed potatoes, blanketed with a rich, creamy and tasty sauce, accompanied by steamed asparagus. It was a pretty plate. It was a delicious meal! In fact, I forgot to take a photo. However, I was mostly done when felt a slim bone at the back of my throat and, while discreetly trying to get rid of it, Christian, the manager must have noticed something strange about me because, although he and the staff were hustling around, busy working, he inquired about my well being. I explained the situation as best I could while fishing for the bone with my tongue. The bone is now lodged near the back of my throat. After a few minutes I managed to remove it. I stopped eating the salmon in favor of the dessert that was included with the meal ~ lava cake!!! Before leaving, I ordered their delicious broccoli cauliflower casserole and some rotisserie chicken for later. When I saw the bill my mouth was agape. I asked, "What happened?" The manager, Christian, took it upon himself to remove the meal from my bill. That's the way you treat a customer! I didn't ask for that and I didn't expect that to happen, however, I was pleasantly surprised! I'm definitely going to revisit this establishment again!!

2.5 Stars - [Review Based on Peach Cobbler and Service]…read more I wanted some peach cobbler, but didn't feel like driving an extensive distance to peach cobbler factory since I had vanilla ice cream on me. Upon entering, I didn't get the lady's name but she took my order and her energy was weird, it wasnt rude, but less courteous than basic service, as if she was in a rush to be done with dealing with me. I got the peach cobbler pretty quickly since it wasn't busy here, the customer demographic looked to be older white people. Upon getting the peach cobbler it was disappointing. The portion size was decent, but the texture of the cobbler breading was more gelatinous and soggy than I prefer. It's edible, but below basic. Solely based on the peach cobbler, the energy and the ambiance of this place I can imagine the food is underwhelming. Please note that this is just a guess since it was my first time here. The person behind the counter wasn't rude but wasn't friendly, either - there were zero social niceties. The food was fine. I got fries which were serviceable but could have used some seasoning - at least salt. I asked for a cup of ranch dressing to see if that would help the fries but it did not - it was a really watery and kind of strange dressing.
