My fiancée was treating me to a post-birthday dinner, and I specifically wanted City Barbeque because I had it a couple of months ago and was absolutely floored by how good it was. Unfortunately, this visit was a major letdown. We chose this location over the Blackmon Dr. one solely based on the health score -- this location was showing a 100 while the other had an 86. In hindsight, I wish we had gone back to the original spot. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt off. Every employee we encountered looked at us with visible disinterest, almost like our presence was an inconvenience -- and this was well before closing. We stood at the counter for about five minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The employee who eventually took our order was patient while we decided, but she spoke so quietly that it was hard to hear her. The biggest disappointment, though, was the food. It came out cold, which was surprising and frustrating. I know and love BBQ, and temperature plays a huge role in flavor. Even assuming all locations receive food from the same distributor, this meal tasted noticeably different -- and not in a good way. The cold temperature absolutely impacted the experience. To make matters worse, the condiment station was messy and unclean. When I picked up our food, I thanked the employee and wished him a good day, only to be completely ignored. That small interaction really summed up the overall lack of hospitality. We walked away extremely disappointed, especially given that this was meant to be a celebratory post-birthday meal. I will absolutely have City Barbeque again -- just not at this location.

I'm typically weary of chain barbecue restaurants and now confirmed for good reason. Barbecue is a cooking technique and cuisine that requires attention and dare I say, "love". I didn't get any of that in the three meat combo that I ordered. The brisket and chicken really weren't notable at all and lacked memorable flavor. The turkey was perfectly and stood out between the three meats. I'll admit, the crispy baked potato was one of the best I've ever had.

Okay-bbq. My husband was craving bbq and wanted to try this place out. We ordered pulled pork, pulled chicken, and chicken thigh with leg. For our sides, we tried the mac &cheese and corn pudding. We've definitely have had better bbq. The flavors were not there. The buttered toast was really good though. Probably what was most disappointing to me was the banana pudding and chocolate cake. Usually, chocolate cake recipes call for a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors of all the other ingredients. This chocolate cake tastes like it contained a cup of salt. All I could taste was the salt. I think my friends would be shocked to hear that I threw away my favorite dessert.

Walked in at prime time on a weeknight, and there were a few customers dinning in but a whole lot of to go orders. The inside has plenty of seating, there's also a large patio, and it has the overall look and feel of a chain bbq place. Took a while to order at the counter, as the person ahead of us had a lot questions. Would have been nice if they'd added a cashier to speed us along, but once we ordered the food came quickly. The fries were cold but were quickly exchanged with an apology with some fresh ones. The brisket was ok, chicken good, and the turkey surprisingly my favorite. Mac and cheese was also top notch, rich with a cheesy crust. Everything was a good sized portion too.

We entered and at first I was concerned because there were only two people in the restaurant. We ordered and received our food quickly and from the first bite of brisket I was hooked!!! We had the collards, mac & cheese, baked beans and Brunswick Stew. I was not happy with the Brunswick Stew but I'm hard to please on that item. I haven't had good batch in years. The people that know how to prepare it properly don't work in restaurants. Was charged $1 for two extra slices of bread. Uhhhhh really...it's bbq! Another drawback for me was the young lady working the register was pulling at the skin on her lips and I remember thinking oh lord she has her hands on her mouth, the register, the phone and everything else. I realize some people have nervous tendencies and try not to be too obnoxious when dining out but I sure miss the days of face masks and gloves. While we ate more and more people came in and when we left there was six people dining in, multiple pick up order, so it's a steady flow of people. The condiments station was neat and tidy. The restaurant itself is decorated with cute signage and quotes which lead to a relaxing environment. I grabbed a catering menu as I was leaving because everything was so delicious I have to convince my employer to treat us to bbq this summer. You can't go wrong with the strawberry lemonade.

Before we even ordered he let us try a few different things and every single thing he handed us was delicious. By the time I actually ordered I would've trusted this man with my finances. Normally, I'm driving 20-30 minutes or more trying to find decent ribs and brisket, and half the time I end up disappointed. Owens & Co. absolutely knocked it out of the park. And don't be fooled by the location. From the side, you might think you're walking into some small "wannabe" BBQ joint. Walk through the front door and that impression disappears immediately. This is a real restaurant--with great service, great atmosphere, and, most importantly, GREAT food. We showed up around 12:50 on a Saturday afternoon, and I had my favorite lunch partner with me--my wifey--which made discovering this place even better. It wasn't very crowded yet, but the smell when we walked in was hypnotic. Smoked meats, BBQ, and all those incredible sides hitting you at once. The space itself is really nice, too, with huge windows and a great view. Then, while we were eating, the crowd started building both at the attached brewery and inside the restaurant. Before long, the whole place was buzzing with energy. I can't say enough about the team at Owens & Co. I don't remember everyone's names yet, but I plan on learning them because WE WILL be back.
