Something magical about the breakfast foods from here; everything goes right always. It's not impossible or uncommon, but breakfast is fairly sacred to me. The Belgian waffle was the biggest I've ever seen and the omelette was brimming with the freshest veggies and dressings. The interior atmosphere is quaint and relaxed, a fairly standard American-diner style. Our favorite brunch spots were busy so we tried J Christopher's today. It has been a long time since we've returned to this former favorite, and I can see why we stopped coming. The hosts barely looked up to greet us as we came in, but our server was friendly and did her best. The biggest disappointment was the food. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and they were terribly undercooked. It was difficult to distinguish the yolks from the whites . . . it was all a runny, unappealing mess. I should have sent the food back ( I never send food back!) but we were in a hurry and I didn't have time to wait for a new order. Yolks should be runny for a well-poached egg, but the whites should at least hold together. Our food came before our beverages and this was disappointing as well. Our server was very apologetic, but she had far too many tables to serve. I don't fault the restaurant for this since so many restaurants are struggling to find waitstaff. I have been wanting to try this breakfast location for quite some time now, and unfortunately I was underwhelmed.... When I first arrived on a Saturday morning, I was expecting a long wait, to my surprise or was only 10 min. I specifically asked for sit on their patio, since the weather was nice and it looked scenic. When it was time for me to be seated, I was directed towards the back of the restaurant until I reminded her I requested the patio, which they obliged, but attention to detail means a lot. Once outside, the patio was perfect, this is where most of the stars for this review is attributed to! It was shaded, cool, picturesque, and just what I was looking for at my morning outing. This is where the good news ends.... Three other tables were seated after me, and all of them had a server greet them and take their order within minutes of them being seated. I waited and watched the 4 servers outside walk past me, delivering their drinks and taking their orders for out 10 minutes before flagging one of these servers down to ask for a cup of coffee and to place my order. The menu itself is pretty typical, nothing special outside the normal breakfast fare. The coffee was pretty good, my meal was average and the service was obviously poor. Once I did get my food, the server brought over my check with it. Needless to say, I did not feel welcome or attended to as a patron to this establishment and I would think twice, maybe even three times, before returning since the experience as a whole was very off putting. read more

Because this is a breakfast place, let me get this out of the way! The grits at Flying Biscuit are definitely better, though theirs are probably more traditional. Take it as you will. ;) On both of my visits here, I haven't had any issues with the food, aside from the aforementioned grits. The biscuit and gravy was more savory, coming with a white gravy with sausage chunks (as opposed to sausage gravy cooked together). While the sausage was not diced super small, it was tasty and will likely be ordered again in the future. No complaints about the roasted potatoes, they were spot on. Something worth mentioning: this place does not get as busy as quickly as many of the other breakfast/brunch places in the area. If you're too late to avoid long waits elsewhere, give this place a try. While I gave this a 3 star, 3.5 might be more accurate. Either way, I doubt you would walk away disappointed if you stopped by and had a bite. read more

For some reason I thought the one in Sandy Springs would be the same. There's a wait for a table, but they are pretty good at seating you within the time frame. We had to wait for a while for a server to acknowledge us but once she did it was all good. Food was nothing to write home about, service was ok, coffee was terrible. He was seated near the entrance filling out paperwork or taking a test, he didn't acknowledge the lady in front of me or myself. Instead, he waited for the host to seat us. It's the little things that take you further, he would have impressed his co-workers if he would have sat us , but at the very least, he could have acknowledged us. no no no no no no I really hate when I decide to splurge (calories wise) on food and it is disappointing. I stopped here after contemplating the entire morning I was fasting for a medical appointment where I was going to get breakfast. Can you imagine that? After fasting for 12 hours, and ALSO being so sick the day prior you didn't eat, you want something good to fill your tummy right? So. I chose J Christopher's because they haven't failed me before. Now I will say, my blueberry crunch pancakes were great. Didn't mess those up. But my bacon? I'm SERIOUS about my bacon, okay? It has to be crispy and not limp. They got the crispy part right. But the taste....it tasted like they gave me bacon that had been sitting out since they opened that morning. Like, it tasted like old meat! I was horrified. Even moreso, I was sitting right at the front counter where someone was consistently working and the girl never asked me how my food was, like, ever.My potatoes were ok. That bacon really spoiled it for me. I was so sad! I literally left the potatoes and bacon on my plate. That should tip you off, as a waitress, that something wasn't quite like right with my meal.
