We got City BBQ catered for lunch recently and it did not disappoint. The woman who brought everything was wonderful and made sure to explain what everything was. They brought mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese with three cheeses, baked beans, green beans with bacon, cornbread, brisket, turkey, pulled pork, and chicken. Everything looked delicious, but personally, had to for go for the sides and that pulled pork! I made a pulled pork sandwich with the hot BBQ sauce on top. I also had to try a little bit of the turkey because most places are dry. Surprisingly, the turkey might have been just as good as the pulled pork was. The mac and cheese was the star of the sides in my opinion. The pasta was perfectly cooked and it was cheesy and creamy with a nice little crust on top. The green beans were also really good. They both tasted homemade. My only complaint is that some of the potatoes weren't completely cooked in the mashed potatoes. But other than that everything was great. We were bringing a out-of-country family member here to try out American barbeque so we ordered a city sampler to share, which normally comes with brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and turkey along with a choice of two sides and Texas toast. The cashier warned us the mac and cheese was not the best that day, so that was appreciated. He stated it was less saucy than normal and even offered to show us the look of it. We ended up ordering it still for the experience, but it could've used a little more sauce/cheese. For our second side, we got the cornbread, but it was just okay, a little dry in some parts. They also were out of a few meats, which was reasonable since we came near the end of day. We substituted the turkey for the triple que which was a mix meat combo including the rib meat. The triple que was nice that it came already sauced, and it was my favorite of the meats. The brisket was a bit dry, but the tables have four sauces from which you can choose. It was disappointing that the city sampler states that brisket is included, but we had to pay $3.20 extra for it, especially since it was just okay. Great bbq, easy parking, friendly service! Located by full sail at university and Semoran, this is a great bbq spot. You can smell the bbq from a block away! I've had the loaded potato and it was fantastic. Most recently I got the brisket sandwich and it was terrific. They have a station to add onion, jalapeños, etc so you can make it the way you like it with their selection of bbq sauces. They also have amazing French fries! The service here was awesome. I told the cashier it was my first time and after I ordered he brought me a sample of beans to try. I normally don't like beans but I decided to give them a try and I'll definitely get them next time. I believe the cashiers name was Hector. He was super kind and helped with all of my questions. I got the turkey sandwich which was really good and moist. The fries I would probably skip next time, same with the collard's. There was a bit too much vinegar taste to the collard's for my liking. Ok so first of all it's pretty expensive but it was a lot of food so I get it. Plus ... BRISKET. The brisket was ok. The fries were soggy but I know it was our fault since we got there like 20 or so minutes after the pick up time. We didn't go inside but the outside is well kept. Looks clean and well maintained. The fried okra was good and the Mac and cheese too. I LOOOVVVEEE the collard greens. I just wish it didn't have pork. I will be back but I don't know how often. This was my first time trying City Barbeque and I decided to do drive thru. The person who took my order was nice and patient with answering all my questions. I ordered the LoLo's Pulled Pork sandwich with Loaded Cheesey Bacon Fries. The sandwich had pulled pork with coleslaw and was a very good combination of salty and sweet. The bread of the sandwich was super soft as well. The cheese fries had plenty of cheese which is always a plus in my book and the bacon was crisp. Since I ate in my car I don't really know what the inside of City BBQ looks like. I can't believe I have slept on this place so long. IT IS AMAZING! The BBQ here is something that my husband literally wanted the next day. The employees here are so wonderful and helpful when I was trying to navigate the menu for the first time and suggested I pick the three meat platter so we could try a bit of everything. My husband and I split it as there was so much food! Sitting inside I loved the vibe. Very open with lots of seating and it was a busy day I can see this place being very lively in a positive way. The condiment bar had pickles which always is a bonus for me. You can also get real plates and silverware to sit down with which was great! My favorite is the corn pudding. SO SO SO good just like my mom makes. the brisket was incredible too. The beans actually have that brisket mixed in which was a bonus. Love it here. Will be back. Unfortunately, I did not have a good meal here. I don't live nearby, but I'm in the area every couple of months. I will start off saying that all of the employees were friendly and helpful. It's my first time here, I got the pulled pork and brisket with Mac and cheese and green beans. I was excited, the place is busy and clean, great way to start. My food came out fairly quickly and grabbed it and sat down. I took two bites of the pulled pork and almost coughed b/c of how salty it was. Not just a little bit, but it was overpowering. So I just moved on yo the brisket. It was pretty good, but I was still tasting overwhelming salt from the pork. The Mac and cheese didn't have much cheese. The green beans were fine. When I got up to leave, a manager or someone who was checking on customers, asked if I needed a box. I politely declined and explained how salty it all was. He said it was just their seasoning. Then he offered to replace it with something, again, I declined. I was just tired and ready to leave at that point. The manager was very nice and concerned that I wasn't happy with it. Seeing everyone else enjoying everything in a very busy restaurant made me realize that either I just happened to get an overly seasoned part of pork, or I'm just getting more sensitive to salt after some medical stuff. Our first time to visit this place: Monty at the register was extremely detailed, helpful, and kind. He gave us recommendations and took his time to explain the menu. The restaurant is casual and very fun, with lively music playing thru the speakers The food? The ribs were extremely tender... even the thicker cuts, I was very surprised that they were so tender. The brisket was also a major highlight... slap either the regular, sweet, or tangy sauces on this and it's absolutely wonderful. I liked the potato salad also, but wasn't a huge fan of the cornbread (very nice texture, but the taste was a little awkward for me.) We will definitely be back with our girls though. I love City Barbecue so much, and for a place that looks like a regular fast food joint, they have some of the best barbecue I've ever had in Orlando! They recently brought out their pork tips, which are slow roasted and then like glazed with ambrosia or something, I don't know. But we should've ordered five orders of that! It was amazing. I've gone to other barbecue spots all over Orlando, but City Barbecue is the closest to what you would get if you were at someone's house and they had a BBQ master barbecuing in the backyard. Now the bbq: they were ok. Unfortunately, my ribs were dry but edible. I tasted the husby's brisket and pork, for me they lacked in flavor and also dry (in comparison to other bbq places). We made a plate of all the sauces, but none of them made me want more after trying (*shock, this is coming from a sauce girly; plus husby agreed too)-- this made me appreciate the availability of the Texas Pete Pepper Sauce even more. We came in for lunch and had a solid experience! You order at the counter and seat yourself, which I prefer at BBQ spots. Service was fast. I got the Dirty Bird sandwich with a side of fries. I asked for no bacon, but got my order with bacon on top. I didn't mind because it's just a preference for me and I could take it off, but for people with dietary restrictions that would be problematic. The portion size is good and I loved the flavor. Solid 4.5 stars for some tasty BBQ. We came here on the recommendation of a friend who has dined here previously. We arrived around 7pm and the restaurant was empty but we were greeted warmly by everyone. I love the open kitchen concept and the seating area was nice and clean. I originally wanted a Pick 2 with Ribs and brisket but there is a $3 up charge for each of those items. Our cashier who I believe was named Leanny, was super helpful and suggested we order the City Sampler and then add ribs on the side as a combo since they aren't a part of the sampler. Ordering this way saved a few dollars. We headed over to the sauce bar to choose our sauces which they have everything from original to spicy. I got a little bit of the original, sweet and swine sauce which is a vinegar based sauce. The city sampler comes with 4 meats. We chose brisket, chicken, sausage and pulled pork with a side salad and 3 cheese baked mac. For the rib combo we ordered half rack St Louis ribs with potato salad and collard greens. Whatever you do get the pulled pork and pair it with the Swine Sauce at the sauce bar. It was delicious! Everything had a good flavor. My only disappointment was that the brisket and ribs were a little dry in my opinion. I usually ask for the fatty brisket when I visit a BBQ restaurant but I forgot to ask for that. The sausage, chicken and pulled pork were the stars of the show. All were cooked perfectly. The sides were all good too! The mac n cheese was so good as well as the potato salad and collard greens. I finally had the opportunity to dine here. I wanted to get some BBQ ribs so I went with a friend, and we chose to dine-in. Even though I knew that I wanted ribs, it still took us a minute to decide on our final orders. I still decided to order the ribs with no sauce, so that I could choose the sauce(s) that I wanted at the sauce bar. The ribs were very tender, easy to get off of the bone and delicious. And wow is that bun shiny. The okra was phenomenal. I've never had it with breading like this and it was wonderfully crispy and okra tasted refreshing. The Mac and cheese was pretty standard, nothing to necessarily wow. The sandwich was very oily, which I guess comes with the territory. They offer a variety of sauces which is handy, and allows you to season to your liking. Overall, the food was pretty good but I was surprised how oily the sandwich was and it made a big mess. But it's BBQ, so gotta expect that! I've just never really had this oily an experience before so that was kind of odd. Between the service, atmosphere (open and clean with variety of seating options), if you're in the mood for quick BBQ this place will likely satisfy. Which is a shame since our order was filled quickly. The ribs are tender. With a decent sauces to it. The fries are your typical "fresh cut" potato variety. I had seen videos of City BBQ and what caught my attention were the brisket burnt ends. i am a sucker for some burnt ends. Then i looked at their menu which i felt was very well priced for bbq. so finally i went. I got hush puppies , ribs,mac and cheese, pulled pork sandwich, fries, a slice of this phenomenal chocolate cake and of course my favorite Burnt Ends. Let me just say they did not disappoint the burnt ends were amazing the fries were hand cut fries which i love. The pulled pork sandwich was great they really piled it up with meat. every bite i had of all the food was amazing. while i was waiting for my order which didnt take too long and even if it did i rather them take their time to give me great food then rush it. the service was great they even offered me a drink because they felt i had waited too long. Wanted to try this new place. The ambiance is very casual. They have large smokers on the side of the building and since the place is so new it definitely had a shiny new feel. We got the brisket sandwich. We weren't asked if wanted lean or fatty and the cuts we received were good. The sides were OK. The fried okra felt more like cut okra fried up in a pan and sprinkled with the left over fried breading. If you scooped some breading with the okra then it tasted like traditional southern fried okra. The Mac and cheese was OK. Creamy but not particularly cheesy. The sauce bar was good. I really like the brush fire, the original was OK. I feel like other bbq places original is better. I did not think their baked beans were sweet enough for me. I ordered a two meat platter with pulled pork and brisket (Upcharge.). When it came to my two sides I chose green beans and corn bread. The plate comes with Texas toast but I wanted to try their corn bread. In the restaurant, they have a sauce bar along with other condiments. They had several of their made in house sauces. You put it in a little cup and take it to your table. You place your order, they call for you to pick up your food when ready and they have bins to clean your table and remove your trash at the end. I had a good meal and I had enough for a snack at home. They provide tasty barbecue but other than their friendly and competent staff I found nothing that made City Barbecue stand out in the BBQ field of restaurants. I went with my friend on a Saturday night. We looked at the menu in the counter, then ordered at the counter. The line was pretty short. While waiting for my other, I took my water cup and got water from the fountain. A couple minutes later, my name was called and I got my food from the counter. It was a good portion of food with the meats and sides nicely plated and cupped. I took the plate to the sauce counter and added some fire BBQ sauce. I tried the pull pork first and enjoyed it much. It was nicely smoked and tender, have the perfect smoke flavor and more moist with the sauce. The fire sauce had the right amount of BBQ flavor, but could have used a bit more heat. While the sausage tasted alright, it was a bit dry and chewy. While I was able to cut it with a fork, I was hoping a little bit of tenderness. I did enjoy the sides I had. The corn pudding had ample amount of corn and almost tasted like a mushy corn bread (not in a bad way). I even enjoyed the potato salad more which had ample potatoes in the cool mayo with seasonings. While the bread was soft and enjoyable, we both wished it had some butter for flavor. We were filled after finishing everything. Even though I didn't order dessert, a worker ended up giving everyone person complimentary peach cobbler before closing as a nice gesture. I tasted a bit and it was a little too sweet, but enjoyable with the peach flavor. A bit of sugar rush though. Always a nice thing to give away the remaining items than throwing it away. The service was friendly and helpful. They provided good suggestions and had the food ready in a reasonable time. While they accidentally called my friend's name for my order, it didn't take much longer for his order to come. The atmosphere is pretty casual with ample dining space and booth seats as well. However, I wish the sauces were available at each table than having to go to the counter area to sauce up your meats each time. You also had to bus your plates at the end. So it is a bit of a workaurant. However, we were not rushed and we were able to finish our food and chat with each other before the closing time of 9pm. My friend and I found City BBQ to be a small step up from Four Rivers. It is a satisfactory restaurant for your BBQ cravings and I would visit again. What drew me in was the 25th anniversary special where you can get a pork sandwich for $0.25 during September. I placed a curbside to-go order via the City Barbecue app. It was easy to navigate, order, and pay. I also ordered the 3 side combo with cole slaw, fries, and corn pudding. The app said it would take about 15 minutes. Once arriving, you click "I'm Here." My food was brought out immediately. I arrived home, and my food was packaged perfectly and still very hot. There was a good amount of pork on the sandwich, and the sides were plentiful. The pork was very good. The cole slaw was creamy without being soupy. The fries could have been a little crispier was good. The corn pudding stole the show. That is a must order as a side item when you visit. 4 stars to satisfy any BBQ cravings! We visited on a Saturday afternoon, the parking lot was a little crazy and the drive through was around the whole restaurant. We ended up having to park in the parking lot next to City Barbeque but that was perfectly easy. We figured this has got to be good considering how busy it was. It's counter service, we ordered our food and it came out super quickly. There were some non traditional options if you're not all about BBQ, like Nashville fried chicken. We tried the pulled pork sandwich for $10 and the two sides and a drink for an additional $7. There's a wide selection of different bbq sauces, I think our favorites were sweet and traditional. The pulled pork was tender and not dry. I felt the portions were a little smaller considering the price. The fries were good and tasted freshly made. Visited City BBQ during their opening week, and my experience was mixed. Everything tasted quite similar and, in my opinion, over-seasoned. I tried a few of the sauces but didn't find one I liked--one was too sweet, another not sweet enough, and one was too spicy. The ribs were decent and probably the only thing I'd go back for if I were craving some. The chocolate cake was not my favorite, and the peach cobbler, while looking suspect, didn't hit the mark for me either. The mac and cheese were okay, and the beans seemed to be missing something. Despite it being opening week, the restaurant wasn't overpacked, and there was plenty of seating available. People around me seemed to enjoy their food, but as a food connoisseur, I found the experience to be just okay. I hope to see improvements as the restaurant settles in. read more
