Voted the best hot dogs in Aiken 2022 and 2023. They were also voted the best hamburger in 2023 for Aiken. This is one of those hole in the wall restraunts that everyone should try. They just recently extended their hours to 9 pm. Just one word of caution... The food came out piping hot, and if you are not careful, it will burn your mouth. Fried pickles are a great starter, and the onion rings go great with a burger or sub. There are tables outside if you want to sit in the evening air. I'm not sure how it would be when it gets into the upper 90s. Try them out and let them know what you think. read more

Great Food! Had two hot dogs and would probably be one of the best hot dogs in my life! The Staff/Service was very kind and nice! The other people in the bar are cool people, just trying to relax like I am. Now there is Pool Tables to play, and that was probably the best part of the bar! Please try this out if you're in Aiken! Went there for lunch with a colleague who works at the local office and is a regular there. I can see why he brings folks from our HQ when they are in town! Delicious, creative burgers, crispy crinkle fries and very friendly staff! The Southern Stack burger was quite flavorful even without the toppings, yet the toppings were excellent too! It's rare that one doesn't overpower the other. The burger has gouda, onions, remoulade, and a fried green tomato, making it quite a creation! One of the best burgers I've had in years. My only knocks are that you have to pay extra for fries, bringing my total to $17.50 before tip for a drink, fries and a burger and the burger was smaller than I thought it should be. That being said, I would certainly eat there again. read more

Went to City Billiards for lunch with my daughter. The place pretty much looks like an old bar including a few pool tables. I was cool with that, but my expectations were high for a place that has Best Burgers in Aiken on the window near the entrance. It turns out that the burger was pretty good, but didn't live up to best in town in my opinion. The fries weren't very good, and the service wasn't much better after getting our food. The table was clean. Overall, a decent place for a burger downtown, but doesn't quite live up to the reputation or reviews. Still worth a visit, and I will probably stop in again sometime. read more

We certainly did not have the experience we were expecting based on reviews. We sat down with one other 3 top in the entire place. We were a party of 4. The server immediately gave the vibe that she was annoyed we were there. It was 1904, they close at 2000. We ordered and waited. And waited and waited. The food arrived at 1957. Nearly an hour later for 3 burgers and a sandwich!! My food disappointment began with the sad serving of crinkle cut French fries. A recent review said the fries were hand cut. They aren't. But I like crinkle cut... I just don't like crinkle cut pieces! There wasn't as evidenced by my pic, a single fry over 2" long. Fries don't come with burgers- they are extra. My next disappointment ( along with the rest of the table) was the small burgers and completely unseasoned meat. Not a drop of salt. Blandest burger ever. Mine was supposed to have Gouda, a fried green tomato and remoulade . The tomato was the butt end, sliced super thin and tiny. There wasn't any discernible remoulade and I looked. Oh haha almost forgot the grilled onions because like everything else it was virtually non-existent. I paid about $20 for that plus a generous 20% tip for lackluster service. The atmosphere was fine and the place looked clean. Someone else in our party ordered chili cheese fries that should have just been called chili fries . The cheese was a mere pathetic sprinkle. I will say the food is decent. Has a good taste to it. The onion rings are good. However, we went on July 14th (Friday night) they close at 8 but we got there at 5:40. We left around 7:30 not because we were enjoying the atmosphere tho. The AC must've been broken it was sweltering inside. The kitchen was slow. The waitress wasn't very attentive and it took forever to order. A large fried pickles is $18 and it was a normal size portion anywhere else. The burgers are a la carte so for $14 you get a burger no fries or onion rings. Add $3/4 for fries/rings. This place is overpriced for what it is and they close at 8pm which is strange. Go for the cheese burgers but make yourself happy and have a chili dog too. It's a good chili dog. Not a prima Donna dog but rock solid. Chili recipe predates Chevrolet and rides the bun well. It nigh on well supports the chilled chopped fresh vidalias. Bun is steamed tender and is warm and soft. Weenie is of good quality but has never been to New York or hosted a Rabbi. It's the kind of chili dog I hope Neil Young will remember. You can eat one with one hand in three bites while riding a bicycle. Don't forget the napkins. I should begin this review by admitting that although Aiken is my hometown I have lived slightly north of San Francisco for the past forty-five years. With that said, I feel strongly that City Billiards offers the best chilidog anywhere between here and there. I have been accused of traveling back and forth across the country many times primarily as a result of an undeniable chilidog craving. I suffered from City Billiards chilidog dreams for years after relocating out to the West coast... I grew up playing pool and eating chilidogs all the way through Aiken High (go Hornets!) and then through Clemson...(go Tigers!). I have tried for years to replicate the City Billiards chilidog and have yet to even come close. The low-key neighborhood bar ambiance of City Billiards is perfect for relaxing over a plate of three (3) chili dogs while enjoying some of the best sweet tea available anywhere...but don't take my word for it. My go to place for slaw dogs! There burgers are equally just as good as well! Somewhat pricey so not a regular at this place but I sure do enjoy whenever I do make the trip! Would be five stars if they still had the pool tables in the back. I really wish they would get those back and give Aiken a little bit more to do at night! I am really not impressed! I have eaten in several times and the food is decent, not great, and over priced! I picked up food today and was shocked at the small amount of food for the price I payed! I will not be going back anytime soon! There are better restaurants just walking distance from City Billiards that I would much rather spend my money! Very good hamburgers (and the chili hot dogs are good, but of the very red generic type.) Fries are usually good as well. Don't expect anything but a bar/poolroom atmosphere, with limited beer selections. But it is a good place for a burger if you are in downtown Aiken. read more

So anticipate a couple of minor additional charges that, while they could be arguably justified, are a little odd (i.e. a glass of tap H2O is $0.56; an extra slice of tomato is $0.85). read more

This is a dive bar. The waitress we get looked like she was doing her best trying to overcome a drug problem. Worn to the bone. Must have asked her 6 times for a piece of lemon for my drink. Finally got it after the drink was gone. That said, the cheese burgers are some of the best I ever had anywhere. They'll cook it anyway you want it. I like mine medium rare and that's exactly how it came. There so juicy you have to hold it in your hand the entire time because if you put it down the bun will get soggy. Never had a bad one here. It didn't have flavor besides the onions and mustard that comes on it. My coworker ordered the catfish plate and said it was "ok". Nothing special. An okay place for a classic low priced "bar-food" style hamburger and fries. The wait staff doubles as the bar staff and likely won't know the difference between a vodka tonic and a jar of peanut butter. First time here even though I grew up in Aiken, I've never eaten here. I heard a lot about the hot dogs and hamburgers so I got both. We ordered ahead and added some things while waiting. The food wasn't correct the first time but the cook quickly fixed it to ensure the accuracy of our order. I'm pleased and will visit this place again for that awesome chili dog. read more

Have eaten here about a dozen times, always for lunch with a group of four or five. The burgers are good. The atmosphere is friendly with pool, bar and a couple of TV's with live sports. The service is lacking, usually understaffed for the lunch crowd, making it difficult for wait staff to stay on top of refilling drinks, etc. read more
